Prosecutors overcharge to force pleas. It’s a common tactic, and it’s so, so wrong. I’ve seen many innocent people forced into pleas via the threat.

E.g. If you’re innocent but they overcharge. Now you face 20 years and have to defend yourself, but if you plea and you get a misdemeanor, then why wouldn’t you plea?

I thought 'Justified' was a bit too nice, didn't care for the main character; and while I liked the movie 'Winter's Bone' in certain sequences, I also found that sanitized. Daniel Woodrull's books aren't bad, exactly, but he's clearly an outsider.

The book, and movie, "Where The Lilies Bloom" is my favorite for that part of my heritage.
