Major Disney Investor Nelson Peltz Makes Fresh Play to Take Seats on the Failing Company's Board

You may remember that Nelson Peltz demanded a seat on the board of directors earlier. He also began a proxy fight, asking shareholders for their proxy votes to get himself (or an ally) on to the board.

Bob Iger got him to drop this bid by announcing he was cutting $3 billion+ in costs and would also begin paying out dividends to shareholders.

But Iger continues to destroy shareholder value. His cuts in spending aren't enough to make Disney profitable. Bob Iger and all his handpicked woke board members must be cut.

And so Nelson Peltz is attempting to gain seats on Disney's board again.

The board hires and fires CEOs so Bob Iger is opposed to this. He wants the board packed with his simps and sycophants.

Activist investor Nelson Peltz, who dropped a long battle with Disney early this year, has amassed a large stake in the media giant and is said to be seeking board seats.
Peltz's Trian Fund, one of Disney's largest investors with a stake valued at upward of $2.5 billion, is expected to request multiple seats on the board of directors, including one for himself, according to the Wall Street Journal, citing people familiar with the matter....
Trian declined comment. Reps for Disney weren't immediately available.

The article notes that Peltz's company Trian owns about $1 billion in shares -- "less now as the stock has not had a good run recently." That's one way to put it.

Via Valliant Renegade, who opines that Nelson Peltz will not be bought off with the "empty promises" he accepted last time.

You may remember that Disney claimed that its newest Star Wars bomb, Ahsoka, was a ratings juggernaut. In fact, its ratings are lower than other Disney Star Wars shows, and keep dropping. (The show has now ended by Nielsen ratings are four weeks behind.)

By episode 4, it was number 7 on the Streaming Original Programming charts. That may sound good, but remember, very few shows on streaming are original programming. Most are "acquired," that is, gotten from some other channel. Like Seinfeld re-runs or the top-rated show on Disney, Bluey, some Australian cartoon about a dog. (Correction: I first wrote it was number seventeen on the original program charts. It's number seven.)

Being #7 out of an already small pool of competitors isn't great. Amazon's Wheel of Time is ahead of Ahsoka, and no one would call that a hit or brag about its ratings.

Well, Amazon probably would, but then they think that Rangz of Power is a hit.

Sometimes you can tell just by looking at the image, but if you hover on one, they'll play a preview for you. As soon as I see a female cop or soldier or whatever, I'm done.

Yeah, I found it. That's not me though, not born in '60, not from Texas.

I'm trying to find shows, more than movies. There are enough movies from the past for me to keep myself occupied. What I'd like to find though, is SOME serials that are worth my time. Worth waiting for the next installments.

I did watch Manhunter, which wasn't terrible. I don't know how fictionalized it is, it certainly doesn't glorify the FBI, so it's got that going for it. The actors they get to play the serial killers are generally pretty good. Especially Ed Kemper.

I got through exactly 3 episodes of the first season. In my defense I wanted to see if it got better, and my memory of a book series I never finished reading (I proclaimed about book 9 or so that RJ was going to die before he finished and ended up being right) that I hadn't read in twenty years was fuzzy.

But yeah. It wasn't good. I thought they got the early visuals pretty well in the first ep. And then it went down hill fast.

In the very last episode of Season 2 Moiraine admits she'll gladly kill 1000 innocent people to save Rand's life, even though up until that point she had shown little to no regard for him as the Dragon Reborn. None of the main male characters have any free agency at all. It's really the "Moiraine and Egwene Show."

Read the books. You'll understand *why* it's an abomination of a show then, even if you don't like the books.

223 There's a two book series by K.M. Shea called "Robyn Hood" that my daughter likes. It does involve a female Robin Hood... but she keeps trying to keep her gender secret. Keeps failing after falling into streams and, um, gives a nice wet-t shirt show to various hunky men.

Shockingly, it's got no gay people, the girls are all trying to get a guy, the villains are villainous, and Maid Marian (who I thought for sure would end up kissing Robyn at some point in today's world) actually ends up pretty fun and safely married off. And the heroine actually isn't a Mary Sue, as far as I can tell. She keeps getting shot and half drowned and the like.

But yes, she does make the Merry Men merry, or at least Will Scarlett and Little John....

I was pleasantly surprised to read it. Stupid, of course, but for a "gender swap" bit it's not bad at all. My young teen daughter likes it, and it's far, far better than grrrrrl-lesbo power! that we get nowadays. No one has "relations" until they are safely married.

There's a series of the Arthurian legend written by a woman back in the 60s or so that is fantastic, too. The crystal cave is one book, and you should be able to track them down from there.

I don't think there's inherently anything wrong with a "gender swap" if it's done with skill and talent. For some stories it would not make sense. But Robin Hood is an amalgam of myths and legends, so why not a female Robyn Hood?

this actually is just a straight term-of-art. "Activist investor" means someone who attempts to exert his will on how the company operates, instead of just sitting back and letting these idiots do whatever they want and just trusting them to deliver a profit. Activist investor is the opposite of a passive investor.
