FAFO: BLM Influencer "Meatball" Encouraged People to Loot Stores in Philly and Dared Police to Arrest Her (?).
The Police So Dared, and Now She (?) Is Crying.

She exhorted people to loot the iPhone store.

The Philadelphia mayor will soon propose taxpayer-funded state-run iPhone stores, with a separate boutique just for mass looting.

The Philadelphia social media influencer arrested while she livestreamed Tuesday night's looting mayhem fought back tears as she was charged with six felonies.

Dayjia Blackwell, better known as "Meatball," shared her firsthand view of the chaos, in which looters targeted several businesses including Apple, Foot Locker and Lululemon, before being caught.

In the videos posted to her Instagram Stories, Blackwell can be heard laughing and cheering on the other looters as she stood by and watched the chaos unfold.

At one point during her stream, Blackwell turned to face her camera and challenged the cops to arrest her.

"Tell the police they're either gonna lock me up tonight, or it's gonna get lit, it's gonna be a movie," she said at one point.

"This is what happens when we don't get justice in this city," she screamed as she joined a crowd of youngsters in the street.

Blackwell's video showed hordes of looters rushing into the Apple store and running away with iPhones and tablets.

"Free iPhones! Free iPhones," Blackwell yelled.

Police used the social media posts of Blackwell and other alleged looters to determine their precise location amid the chaos, according to the Philadelphia Inquirer.

On Wednesday, "Meatball" was handed eight separate charges including six felonies stemming from her involvement with the looting, according to court documents viewed by The Post.

Blackwell was charged with burglary, criminal trespassing, conspiracy, criminal mischief, riot with the intent to commit a felony and criminal use of a communication facility.

Police also issued the influencer two misdemeanors -- receiving stolen property and hazardous conditions/physically offensive.

What's funny is that she wouldn't have been charged if she hadn't decided to directly call out the cops and prosecutors for being what they are. Had she just shouted about "social justice" or "reparations" or "oppression" or some shit, she would have walked.

But government types - especially government types involved in policing and prosecution and courts - *hate* being defied. It's all about their authority. Challenge that like she did, and they will throw the book at you like they did to her. Had she just not done that one particular thing, it would have gone exactly the way she expected.

It doesn't matter that the police chief and the prosecutors and whatnot on her side or that they approve of what she's done, because she called them out and defied them. That defiance *must* be dealt with.

90 There is no excuse for a stolen cell phone to be useful to anyone (not as a cell phone, anyway - though as a palmtop computer it could still potentially be useful). The IMEI numbers of the phones are known. They can be blacklisted and network registration can be refused to them. Locations could also be determined based on registration attempt and handed over to the cops, but they wouldn't care and so there's no point.

But the mobile carriers *could* blacklist known-stolen devices if they wanted to. They just can't be bothered.

Slap a SIM card into it and away you go. The cell networks fairly famously do *not* lock out stolen devices. They could, as every device as a unique hardware identifier (it's called the IMEI number, and you can pull it up by dialing *#06# on your phone's dialer) that registers with the network. Registration could be refused to known-stolen IMEIs, but it isn't.

Apparently Apple *did* disable these devices, though. So they will likely have no value other than for parts.

This is a bad comparison because neither the roads nor the gas station control access. The cell network does, by virtue of how the technology works. The phone depends on a carrier, and the carrier must by the nature of the technology know what the device is that is attempting to register with the network. The car does not depend on Exxon and there is no technical requirement for Exxon to know about the car (or non-car) into which the fuel is being dispensed.

The same is not true for the mobile network operators. They have to know, and they could eliminate the incentive for mobile phone theft with ease. They just choose not to.

Exxon implementing "no gas for stolen cars" is impossible

Verizon prohibiting stolen iphones from their network is a database table and a few lines of code. Apple would probably pay for it.

New car radios now aren't stolen as much because you need a digital pin for them to work.

Poll suggests decline in American Christianity directly linked to collapse of marriage and fatherhood

"Overall, the survey found that 80% of church attendees grew up in a home where their mother and father stayed married, a trend that remained true regardless of age. In addition, 87% of all 25- to 29-year-old never-married men in church had parents who remained married.
"'So what this means is folks in church on Sunday are categorically more likely to have grown up with a resident dad in the home than someone who is not in church on Sunday," De Gance (Founder and President of Communio) said.'"

NEW: US judge blocks execution of mentally ill Texas man
||Scott Panetti, 65, who has suffered from mental illness for decades, was condemned to death in 1995 for the shooting of his estranged wife’s parents.

US District Judge Robert Pitman, after a three-day evidentiary hearing which ended on Wednesday, said it is “undisputed that Panetti is severely mentally ill, suffering from chronic schizophrenia for over forty years.

“Panetti’s mental illness prevents him from rationally understanding the state’s reasons for executing him,” Pitman said. “The court finds that Scott Panetti is not competent to be executed under the prohibition against cruel and unusual punishment set forth by the Eighth Amendment.” [...]

At trial, Panetti acted as his own attorney, wore a burgundy cowboy outfit and tried to call Pope John Paul II, John F. Kennedy and Jesus as witnesses.||

I think the crazy defense is obviously overused...but there are a handful of people every year where it is applicable. You're correct...they should still be locked up, but medicated and released when stable, probably, with the understanding they can be reincarcerated if they voluntarily stop their medication.

This story, told by MrBallen, is an excellent example. https://tinyurl.com/mrx83zst
