San Franpsycho I am sorry that you can't sleep and are anxious. I am/obviously awake vet early too- except that I have to be up at 5:00 anyway before spouse leaves to work. When I went up to visit Jessie in the hospital I stopped to get a book in the book shop. I also found another book for someone else in the congregation/- " Conquer Worry and Anxiety" by Dr. Daniel G. Amen. He is board certified psychiatrist. In does contain some Bible verses from both the Jewish and Christian Scriptures but it's more about mastering your mind and using things like guiding imagery and meditation. I also take "calm and relax which contains magnesium and Indian herb Ashwaganda. I have what I think is a funny story
We had to bring up something to FenSon yesterday at school. We had a nice breakfast out. At the end of the morning when we were getting ready to leave he said, "Why do you and mom Have to pee so much." I laughed. I said " Because we're old people and when we drink a lot of tea and coffee that's what happens." He also wanted to know why we're so inquisitive- asking him about how his classes are going, etc. I told him that's how parents are.😊 Posted by: FenelonSpoke at September 17, 2023 06:19 AM (k2a+Q) 11
I'm so old I know I have to pee when I don't feel like I have to pee. Also drinking water is a good health habit.

Willows from Tech thread.
I'm up because of anxiety and insomnia. Posted by: San Franpsycho My sleep cycle is completely hosed and has been for a number of years and it's getting worse as I get older which is why I'm sitting here tonight crafting brilliant comments. One solution I have is to avoid going to the Elks club and drinking too much, go out and get a healthy dose of exercise each day, limit the amount of television time, and eat healthy as in chile colorado and carne asada tacos. May I suggest, that you accept you have won life because you're retired, you've been married 30 years, you live a good life and on occasion you get to have, if I recall correctly, blueberry muffins or is that pancakes? We live with an abundance of blessings. My second solution is I gave up worrying about it and have come to embrace watching police interrogations on YouTube all night long. I'm thinking all this will come in handy one day when I get pulled over for speeding. Posted by: Lost In Space at September 17, 2023 06:34 AM (AHJdW) 21

New Mexico's tiny tyrant has redone her complete nullification of the Second Amendment and redrafted it so it is limited to playgrounds, parks, here comes the kicker, public places where children play. She's going to keep pushing this until it ends up in the supreme court and they slap her an irons. I also strongly suspect that she's trying to set up a situation where the original public health order can be argued. It is moot because she changed it when they get to court on October 3rd. I'm counting the minutes until new lawsuits are filed on this revised so-called public health order. For extra credit, murders have gone up 70% since she's been governor.

“After Maricopa conducted its falsely ‘certified’ L&A testing on October 11, 2022, Maricopa conducted unannounced and unlawful testing on all 446 vote-center tabulators on October 14, 17, and 18. The tabulator system log files show that 260 of the vote-center tabulators rejected ballots with the same tabulator error codes that occurred on Election Day. Joe Lunch Box Biden dictated what cars can be built and then bribed car companies to build them even though nobody wants them, they can't be built at a price that is profitable, and is going to put 40% of the work force out of job that can never be replaced. There is a real risk that are going to go into steep declinel. All this is a win for China.

I just woke up, and I got an idea that's probably not as profound as i think, but i'm gonna thread-jack anyway.
The "conservation movement" has always been fundamentally insidious. It's essentially rich people valuing useless land greater than they value someone else having a place to live and food to eat. Add on a layer of "but I still want to eat a quarter ton of refined sugar and corn syrup a year, and bananas in February in New England, but don't you dare clear-cut and drain some noxious swampland to grow sugar and bananas just so you can scratch out a meager existence off of the pittance i'm willing to pay for that privilege." "And there's too many people in the world", they say... but they mean "There's too many *other* people in the world, eating all my sugar and bananas", like the pampered chubby little Sartres they are. Later, in the 1960s the hippies got a jacked on LSD and an renewed talking to trees as a profession. Later still when they came down they became eco terrorists and then Antifa. It's not that I'm against conservation as such. I was just trying to figure out what it is about the people who get really really into it that pisses me off.
I like that there are preserved lands here and there, I like that money is spent (voluntarily) to keep unique biomes and whatever from disappearing. Let's not clear-cut *everything* just to satisfy the gods of consumption. But I've always felt a certain nastiness in the "movement" conservationists that I couldn't put my finger on, and so I just chalked it up to "Well, they're just Lefties, so that's why they ping your Jackass-o-meter". There is a much simpler explanation: Stage I Reprobation. Romans 1:18-24 describes the process starting with "What can be known about God is plain to them...they were ungrateful for the Creation...they claimed they can do better... exchanging truth for lies... they became futile in their thinking...they ended up worshiping the Creation rather than the Creator. Ok let agree to this: 1. How do we adjust people that will not put in the time and effort? Communist used reeducation camps. Pol Pot just killed those that could not make the grade. 2. How do we build complicated, competitive, and environmentally sound systems (e.g. IT, Internet, Space Travel, Energy, Medicine) without knowing who has the talent and training vs. those that were adjusted into the program. 3. What does the reset look like at the end of the (five year I suppose) program? Is it a Soviet style of moving the achievers out of the system (camps) or is it squeaky wheel gets the grease like the end of year meeting in Atlas Shrugged? Totally unneccesary. Xi Jinping could fly over to the FUSA with eight Airbus 380s filled with CCP functionaries, land in Dulles, be escorted by any federal government agency to the White House where the junta would immediately hand over all power to the CCP and nationalize everything. And no one would do anything but comply. The EV hustle is a few things. So Mao wanted to deal with starvation in China so he ordered mass planting of wheat and the peasants were ordered to bang pots to keep the sparrows from eating the seed. There's a huge disconnect between the old-school conservationists and the current crop of idiots who have rejected everything they stood for. Men like Aldo Leopold, Ansel Adams, and John Muir wanted to preserve the best parts that were full of national beauty, and yet also recognized that making sure that all people were able to enjoy and experience these places themselves. >>I beg to differ. Solar economics was thoroughly evaluated in the late 70's and early 80's and came up severely wanting compared to nuclear and advanced fossil fuel tech. It was abandoned at the beginning of the Reagan administration. All of this knowledge has been lost or conveniently forgotten.
Those are only the known costs. Right now fire departments and insurance companies around the world are wrestling with the "unforeseen" costs of dealing with renewables with the biggest focus right now on EVs. No matter what anyone says there is no technology now available to extinguish a lithium ion battery fire. They can be cooled and the worst part of the event stalled but they can't be fully extinguished. What does that mean for the added costs of EVs igniting in an underground parking garage? In a home garage? In crowded parking lots or major roads? And that's just part of the EV problem and no money has been specifically allocated to deal with as of yet. There are always unforeseen consequences and costs with new technology. The bigger the scale the bigger the costs. Posted by: JackStraw at September 17, 2023 08:38 AM (ZLI7S) 169
Nothing is as expensive as free stuff. The costs associated with even a partial transition to renewables hasn't even been considered by most, not even understood either. But its coming.
Everything is propaganda: • The Biden junta cancels contracts and deals • domestic oil production has never been higher. • 20% of the refineries will shutter in five years • profit margins at high levels • no new refineries planned • refiners add 350,000 Bpd capacity this year Taken together, nothing makes sense. The lovely stay at home companion/caregiver for our patriarch texted me to tell me that his daughter is picking him up to go to her house so he won't be at church today. The daughter lives five minutes away. Why couldn't she just bring him to church and then pick him up when it's over? He loves being at church, He was baptized there. He brought up all his children in the church. He gets to talk to some people who love and respect him. The family of our organist Jessie who lives about 20 minutes always arranges for her to come to church (They drive her with her nurse and pick her up later) if she feels up to it because it's important to her to be part of the fellowship. I just look at it as, "Am I willing to pay .50 cents a day for the next 10 years for some level of insurance against power outages?" Force people on to public transportation → bus drivers threaten strike
Almost exactly one hundred years ago, this was called the Traction Trust scandal, and was the prime driver of the conversion to private car ownership. Special trains were put on in cities with streetcar strikes to bring in any used cars to sell. The whole mythos of the crooked car salesman stems from this period. There's a chapter in Dreiser's "Sister Carrie" that's based on his experience as a newspaper reporter covering a traction strike. We have chosen to ignore the lessons of our own history. Based on this translation, countless academics and teachers have since interpreted Newton's first law of inertia to mean an object will continue moving in a straight line or remain at rest unless an outside force intervenes.
It's a description that works well until you appreciate external forces are constantly at work, something Newton would have surely have considered in his wording. Revisiting the archives, Hoek realized this common paraphrasing featured a misinterpretation that flew under the radar until 1999, when two scholars picked up on the translation of one Latin word that had been overlooked: quatenus, which means "insofar", not unless. Thus, cementing in the public mind that oil was perceived as limited to ensure the price stayed high (despite, even in his day, constant new massive discoveries). An interesting fact. Especially when you consider oil comes from strata far, far deeper than the age of dinosaurs. Posted by: People's Hippo Voice at September 17, 2023 09:13 AM (TzW+Y) 241
Some company wanted to build a big rig recharging station some where along the interstate in the mid west. They didn't get permission because the town said it would need all the electric generation just to power the truck charging station. Leaving the village with no power.
A big rig battery's (s) weight about 8000 pounds by the way. Posted by: Colin at September 17, 2023 09:14 AM (bOfbg) 242
People know as much about OIL as they know about UFO/UAPs.
Stop trying to save the environment and stop being a dick! Here's an idea, let's pretend we know something about electricity! Posted by: Dr. Bone at September 17, 2023 09:22 AM (KVGVf) Posted by: naturalfake at September 17, 2023 09:43 AM (QzZeQ) 244
