Big Dog Cafe

"Nostalgia Beyond," by Paul Erdmenger

Goofus and Gallant.

Little boy going off to obedience school.

A cute wee sea beastie.

He has Advantage on his stealth check.

He just barely makes his stealth check.

A dog pets a cat, with not-so-secret animosity.

This Golden is much happier petting another Golden.

Making a difficult U-Turn.

What sorcery is this?!?

Who doesn't love a good lick.

Boing, boing, boing!

Showing off for his frenz.

Is... is any of that... for me?

"You know your friend Ginny's a c*nt, right?"

A coyote and badger have formed an unlikely frenship.

I've been meaning to get a Zen Guinea Pig.

A pile of piglets. Sound on for maximum effect.

This is a large dog.

Aww.

Is waving now just standard bear behavior?

Back in the early days of YouTube, my preteen son caught me watching a video there of Sofia cavorting on a beach in a one-piece swimsuit in her old Hispanic travel show "Fuera de Seria." She was fully, albeit alluringly, clothed.

My son duly reported to his Mom in the next room: "Mom, Dad's watching ballet!"

54 Changing the code on an analog dial safe (3 or 4 wheel) is actually pretty easy. There are youtube videos on this. Learn how to do it, and never rely on the combination the safe shipped with. Analog wheel dials only remember one combination at a time, so once you reset it, the previous one is gone.

Digital combination entry on a safe I wouldn't trust. There could be a few alternate combinations stored in memory. You'd never know.

103 Mosquitos....

Dragonflies make mincemeat outa' them too. As do many varieties of swallows and wrens.

The swallows need lots of open space. Not sure about the wrens.

I think there's a wasp species that goes after mosquito lava as well. Biology wasn't my strong suit.

YMMV

NEW: A comet called Nishimura discovered just a month ago could be visible to the naked eye this weekend, offering stargazers a once-in-a-437-year chance to observe the celestial visitor.

Link to AFP report:
https://tinyurl.com/3ausn2df

||For stargazers, the comet will be easiest to observe this Saturday and Sunday, particularly in the Northern Hemisphere.

“The best thing to do is look at the sky before sunrise, in a northeastern direction to the left of Venus, in a clear sky, free of pollution,” Biver advised.

People with small binoculars will easily be able to enjoy the spectacle. But, if conditions allow, the comet may also be visible by the naked eye.

The comet’s tail is greenish, because it contains “more gas than dust,” Biver said.||

133 68 Can a digital lock be replaced with an analog one? I suppose I could call a locksmith and ask but...
-------
Think the cost would be more than the safe. You can however replace a cheap non UL certified e- lock with a UL certified electronic lock on a lot of safe models of moderate price. The cheapos nah even if you could reach customer support.

Safes are pretty much you get what you paid for.
You could, however, mount an old style lock and hasp to the door and use a very secure padlock or combo lock where you set the combination.

Every safe can be gotten into if you have enough time and tools--many can be pried open at teh cheap end and a lot more can be accessed via a disk grinder and metal saws fairly quickly if a bit noisily. That is why most of gun 'safes' are actually considered residential storage containers and not safes.

We had a colony in the attic which we found last year, three months into our new home (new to us--the bastards that sold it to us must have known--a colony like this is not established overnight).

How large you ask? We counted 115 leaving the house one night. Also also, they only go out when they are hungry which might be once every three days.

Everything is sealed up and the pest guy installed a contraption from which they can leave, but not re-enter. I'm not going to fuss with whatever must be in the attic--it doesn't smell and all the ducts are sealed tight up there.

What is interesting about the richter scale is that it's pretty darn useless as far as predicting impact. Yeah, 8 is going to flatten everything. But you can get a "smaller" earthquake where a lot of the accelerations were vertical, or where the soil removes certain frequencies but leaves others so only certain buildings get creamed (this is Mexico City); or the earthquake might have a particularly long duration motion at one point in the cycle even though the amplitude is not that bad.

In a job that requires you to possibly use force on people you really don't want to have to consider that you may end up doing hard time because you misjudged which criminal you used force on. A national police force member would be supported by the establishment and the media as long as they didn't go against the establishment and the media. There are more than enough people in the country that would jump at the chance to be paid well to have a free hand to push people around, don't kid yourself.

181 Don't get too excited. Fontes is gonna do what he wants, and since the AG and governor were also "elected" under questionable circumstances don't expect them to do the right thing either.

And if he gets caught red-handed, he'll just resign and the whole thing will blow over.
