The Nation's Largest Newspaper Publisher, Gannett, Is Sued for Anti-White Racist Discrimination
Gannett Co Inc, the largest U.S. newspaper publisher, is facing a lawsuit claiming its efforts to diversify newsrooms led to discrimination against white workers. The proposed class action was filed in Virginia federal court on Friday by five current and former Gannett employees who say they were fired or passed over for promotions to make room for less-qualified women and minorities. The plaintiffs say those decisions were driven by a policy announced in 2020 under which Gannett aims to have its newsrooms reflect the demographics of the communities they cover by 2025. Gannett has also tied executive bonuses and promotions to success meeting the goals outlined in the policy, according to the lawsuit. "Gannett executed their reverse race discrimination policy with a callous indifference towards civil rights laws or the welfare of the workers, and prospective workers, whose lives would be upended by it," the plaintiffs said in the lawsuit. Polly Grunfeld Sack, Virginia-based Gannett's chief legal counsel, said the company always seeks to recruit and retain the most qualified workers. "We will vigorously defend our practice of ensuring equal opportunities for all our valued employees against this meritless lawsuit," Sack said in a statement. The lawsuit comes amid growing backlash to increasingly prevalent corporate diversity policies. Unlike other pending cases brought by conservative groups, the claims against Gannett were filed directly by the company's employees. The Washington Free Beacon reported last month that discriminatory fellowships and programs, which companies often establish on the basis of elite law firms' "civil rights" advice, are now prime targets for legal scrutiny since the Supreme Court struck down affirmative action in college admissions in June. Apparently he tweeted that he couldn't hire anyone without a green card because of trade secrets and that's the law, but there's another law that contradicts that law and *requires* you to hire illegals. Sorry, refugees. And that's why Biden is suing him.
And the neat part is that the original asylum laws would allow four or five people a year and were to encourage valuable, highly sought after, intelligent, massive additions to the U.S. resource pool to escape to the U.S.

I took my parents on a trip in, I think, 2018. We stayed at a hotel and the hotel did something old-fashioned: distributed USA Today. We were sitting in the restaurant having brunch and leafing through the paper. It was astoundingly bad. My folks and I alike were actually surprised at just how bad the paper was. Not just its insane partisanship, but also the poor writing and the fairly small number of real articles and the amount of advertising.
It was eye-opening. I hadn't read a normal newspaper in maybe a decade and it was actually somewhat shocking just how bad it was.

Speaking of utilities, I purchased a RV setup of folding 350 watt solar panel and 2025 watt storage battery. The projected life expectancy is 10 years, which breaks down to .50 cents a day of insurance against power outages. With a little more math, and a week of usage, I've determined they can produce .40 cents a day of electricity - which is about 10% of my average daily use. When the sun shines. Should power the refrig, lights, and some other small scale stuff for the frequent outages in my backwoods area.
Not great, not bad, somewhere in-between.

The muh diversity crowd got sloppy. Even under the Federal Civil Rights Act of 1964, employment discrimination aka quotas are specifically banned and thus actionable. What Scotus did in the Harvard and NC cases is kill the diversity exception more or less as a legal defense to such. Now, to justify 'positive' discrimination, you have to show that a) there is a historical case of the employer itself discriminating against individuals and b) that only a group that was specifically discriminated against is allowed positive discrimination.
The 90's cases of Adarand v. Pena and City of Richmond v. Croson are still the std for that in public entities. You will see a chilling effect regardless on muh diversity soon as well.

Post recent SCOTUS cases I can tell you I've never seen some corporate lawyers more concerned. The statements, policies and guidelines some of these companies put out are blatantly in violation of state and federal law. With the exception of extemporaneous statements, most of those are subject to legal review and approval. Which means this was done in contravention to established law.

I reject this premise, and always have. There is no such thing as "reverse racism." To use such language is to imply something that is objectively wrong and deliberately corrosive. For "reverse racism" to be a thing, the "normal" kind of racism *must* be white on non-white racial hatred - and it's opposite must be aberrant.
To use this term is to acknowledge that it's normal for whites to be racial bigots, but abnormal for non-whites to racial bigots. It reinforces the Critical Theory concept that racism is power-based rather than hate-based - the same theoretical basis that permits statements like "women can't be sexist" or "blacks can't be racist" to take root as received truth. It's bullshit, and it's the kind of manipulative language that helps ensure that they keep winning no matter what. It's corrosive and destructive and evil, and should be rejected outright by all.

I try not to personalize these things. And granted, I do live in one of the most expensive places in the US to live.
But I'm an unmarried guy in my 30's. I make fairly decent money. Nothing crazy, but I shouldn't be broke either.
And I'm not broke. But I'm certainly not saving anywhere near what I should be saving based on my salary and my fairly cheap lifestyle. I'm not out at clubs partying every night, and going to expensive restaurants all the time. I rarely use Uber or cabs.
But like the other night I bought groceries to make a pretty basic dinner and it was like $65. For dinner for 2 people. I don't think I could support a child right now. And chances of me ever buying a house or paying off my student loans are pretty much zero.

When the inflation was just getting started, I made that bet. I bought a freezer and packed it full of beef and pork, betting that the price difference over the next two years would enough greater than the price of the freezer that it would end up generating a net return.
I was right. Of course, I now have to replace the meat as I consume it (well, more slowly than I consume it - my net supply is depleting), but that bet paid much better than any savings account.

However, there are solid reasons to take on debt. Buying a house is one such situation, ASSUMING you have a steady income, a properly sized mortgage, and you are not getting ripped off on the price and rate.
Car and credit card debt - generally no-gos. But, there can be certain exceptions to that.
You should be a Dave Ramsay no debt absolutist only if you have lax financial discipline.

I only buy stuff with my credit card that I can afford, so I don't even consider that "debt" in the traditional sense. It's just a convenient way to pay for a few things here and there. I use it mostly for Amazon purchases and for streaming services. Which all get paid off every month.

For a chest freezer, it's usually damned small. One of the benefits of a chest freezer is that all the cold air doesn't fall out when you open the door, and they tend to have a lot of insulation.

Well, right now it's balls hot, so the bill is 90% A/C use.
In the winter months, on gas heat, it's somewhere around $150, I think.....Won't know till then how bad Bidenomics rapes my ass this year.

I'm sorry about your church choir. See if there's an Anglican- Church in North America parish in your community. They usually have a choir and are certainly more conservative than Episcopalian. "Orthodox Presbyterian" also often has choirs.
Also, some non denominational Evangelical churches also have choirs, although I was rather horrified to learn that my running mate who has a lovely voice and who goes to the latter was told that she couldn't sing in their choir because the pastor was trying to do an outreach to young people and have them sing in the choir instead.

We have three refrigerators (the kitchen one, the "Y2k fridge" in the garage, and a third one in the basement - from extra appliances we inherited). Our last electric bill was $97, total. This includes the small ACs we had running this month.
We are fortunate our utility company has relatively low rates.

My educated guess is one half a refrigerators usage for a chest freezer. So about $100 a year at .20 cents per kilowatt hour - which is my local price.
You could possibly put a timer on it and not keep things at such a low temperature. Maybe 6 hours on 6 off, all the time. Would cut that bill in half.

I saw something last week that jolted me, re: consumer sentiment. I was at the #1 vacation spot for families in Oregon. Place was half full. Roads to and from are the autobahn because nobody is driving. This tells me people are broke and already stopped spending.
This is why Disney is empty, not just they are groomers. People can't afford groceries and gas. So they aren't spending.

I’m Not pushing debt, all else being equal having less or no debt is better. But in an era of high inflation, having low interest debt is a no brainer. My mortgage is 3%, I’m never paying that thing of early.

I believe families should be Multi-generational. I feel I am very fortunate to have grown up surrounded by grandparents, aunts, uncles, and cousins. Our family has provided a huge amount of support to each other through many trauma's as well as just plain growing up!
Single generation families really are fairly new, I would guess since WWII has this become more the norm, than the abnormality.

I'm not sure I buy this. Many red state AGs are looking at these programs, requiring them to account for their policies and actions. This is as a result of even more overt racial discrimination. I expect all federal and state affirmative action programs to be found unconstitutional within three years.
