Please submit any prayer requests to me, “Annie’s Stew” at apaslo atsign hotmail dot com. Prayer requests are generally removed after four weeks unless we receive an update.
Prayer Requests:
7/22 – Donna&&&&& would appreciate prayers, as she found out she has breast cancer. It was caught early and is slow-growing, so she is optimistic.
8/5 Update – Her lumpectomy surgery is scheduled for August 16.
7/22 – Dash my lace wigs posted that she and her husband could use some prayers. He had an incident involving too much drink, too many stairs, too much anger, and The Law. He is on court-ordered sobriety, and she thanks Jesus for that, but sees a long and difficult recovery ahead. She prays that he succeeds, and that she will have the strength to stand with him through it.
8/5 – Thanks to all who continue to pray for them; her husband has 3 weeks sober. Thank you, Lord.
7/24 – The DMV MGC is requesting Moron prayers that strength, endurance, and peace may be granted to blaster, Sra blaster, and her sister, as they face a rough family situation that several others among the horde are currently facing as well as others that have already faced, or will eventually, face. Sra blaster’s mother is not doing well either physically or emotionally and is also suffering from dementia/Alzheimer’s. She is being cared for by both her daughters right now in Florida and very dependent upon them but needs healing and home care (which is hard to come by in Florida). Prayers for her recovery and ability to resume some level of independent living would be appreciated.
8/19 Update – Sra blaster’s mother is being tended to by her two sisters and a home hospice care provider. She is as comfortable and happy as she can be at this point.
7/29 – Village Idiot’s Apprentice updated the Horde on the good news of his dad’s recovery. On 7/22, he was non-verbal and incapable of controlled muscle movement. He could still communicate with facial expressions and his eyes. On 7/29, he packed up his walker, folded and loaded his clothes and announced he was ready to go home. It looks like he had sepsis that knocked him loopy, as well as the UTI.
7/29 – Thefritz asked for prayers for his son-in-law and his daughter, P.R.T and C.G.T. His son-in-law found a lump in a testicle and the doctors have ordered surgery. They have been trying to get pregnant and recently miscarried. They have been married less than two years, so this has left them fearful for his life and a future with biological children. Thefritz asks, “Dear Lord, please bring healing and calm to them. Give them strength together to deal with this. In Jesus’ name, I pray.” He also thanks the Horde in advance for their healing prayers.
8/3 – Tonypete asked for prayers for his friend Mike, who suffers from bone cancer and the disease has reached the end stages. Mike is very low and probably cannot hang on much longer. Prayers are also requested for his dear wife Judy. She has been a magnificent caregiver throughout Mike’s troubles. She is terrified that the final days have arrived and, as a very private person, it is very difficult for her to share her worries with anyone.
8/3 – Goddessoftheclassroom asked for prayers. She said she is hurting so much, on the fourth anniversary of her elder son’s death.
8/4 – San Franpsycho updated the Horde on his buddy Paul’s medical status. So far, all treatments are ineffective and his tumor remains inoperable. He is a candidate for a drug trial at Mt. Sinai and they hope to hear soon if he was accepted. So far he is hanging in there!
8/19 Update – Paul’s drug trial starts on 8/21. Hopefully any side effects are mild.
8/5 – Screaming in digital heard that her sister-in-law’s mother is in ER with breathing problems. Prayers are appreciated.
8/5 – Grammie Winger said she would appreciate any prayers for her son.
8/5 – Mindful Webworker had some requests: MiladyJo has her first hip replacement surgery scheduled for the end of August. Praying it all goes well and she’ll be out of pain. While they were repairing GoodsonM’s busted leg, they saw heart problems. The cardiologist told him if he’d get his blood pressure down and lose some weight, he should be okay. So far he has dropped a bunch of weight, which is encouraging. Prayers for peace and happiness for Daughter and her husband. With MiladyJo and GoodsonM both being somewhat in capacitated, Daughter has been a huge help to them (driving, dog care, etc.) SonC, his wife, and their two kids (oldest just turned 6) remain estranged – and strange. No visits or contact for almost 2 years.
8/5 – RedMindBlueState provided an update on his buddy’s wife. Her cancer is stage 3. The surgery went well, but she’s in for a lot of chemo over the next 6 months. Thank you for all the prayers.
8/6 – Cybersmythe requests prayers for Parnell to recover from his cancer.
8/12 – Hrothgar asked for prayers for Gabriella, a lovely young lady with great promise, who was transferred from the hospital in Puerto Rico to one in Tampa to get advanced treatment for a very aggressive cancer. This past week showed this new treatment seems to be extremely effective and she has made a remarkable recovery. She is not out of the woods yet and still needs prayer support, but her outlook has improved so much that the hospital staff were celebrating it!
8/12 – Mk Y asked for prayers for the family and 3 year old son of Logan, his nephew, who was killed in a motorcycle accident.
8/12 – Moon_over_vermont received a diagnosis of stage 4 cancer in June. It is a type of cancer that typically responds to treatment, but it’s everywhere. The second chemo started this week. If his/her comments ever made you smile or you thought they were insightful, or if you can spare a passing thought or prayer, it would be appreciated.
8/19 Update – Thank you to everybody who replied to the prayer request last Saturday. So far the doctors are optimistic. There is a possibility that surgery may not be needed, but it will still be a long treatment.
8/12 - Tuna sends thanks for all the prayers after the death of her husband last month. She knows they were instrumental in being able to find a little peace of mind.
8/12 – Oddbob sent out an emergency prayer request for his 4 month old granddaughter. She had some sort of seizure on 8/11. They took her to ER and they did a bunch of test and found nothing. Then it happened again on 8/12, so they went back to the ER.
8/15 – FenelonSpoke asked for prayers for V. She has not been able to reach V, a dear member of her congregation. She hasn’t been in church for two weeks, and usually never misses. She lives alone and has no family. Fenelon figures she may have to go to her house.
8/19 Update – FenelonSpoke was able to contact V, and she is okay.
8/16 – P asked for prayers for her nephew R, out east. He suffers from Chiari malformation – his brain doesn’t quite fit in his skull, so part of it protrudes from the base. He has suffered all his life with migraines and dizziness, which makes it nearly impossible to keep a job. A neurosurgical specialist will operate on him on 8/21. Please pray that the operation is successful and he will be able to live a much more normal life.
8/19 Eromero requested prayers for his friend Lloyd as he transfers from ortho rehab to assisted living. He is having some confusion and needs clarity of mind. Lloyd’s wife, and Mr. and Mrs. Eromero could also use prayers as they try to provide care.
8/19 – Coelacanth asks for continued prayers. There are problems with his son Cam. Cam has been concealing many things for many years and has been lying to his family. His mother is heartbroken.
8/24 Update – Cam is still suffering with his significant health issues, and his mental state is unstable. He is making decisions based on feelings, and guided by bad advice, will not consider his parents’ cautions.
8/19 – Sock Monkey could use prayers for his wife’s younger brother and his family. They lost everything in the Gray fire, west of Spokane. So far Sock Monkey is still at home, about 4 miles from the fire evacuation area.
8/19 – Free Tibet has a biopsy coming up, and asked for prayers for a good outcome. He says it’s been a long two years.
8/23 – A concern was brought up in the comments that applies to many churches nowadays. Prayers are needed for churches (members and leaders) to remain faithful to the Bible. Some congregations are resigning from church denominations that have chosen to teach something other than Biblical Christianity. Some people are having to separate from their church homes, due to the false teaching occurring. Please pray for people to have the knowledge and strength to remain faithful to the Word.
8/23 – Tonypete asked for prayers for Miss R, which is having a procedure done. She sometimes has very poor reactions to them, so it’s a bit worrying.

an alternate wild card, which of course will also turn out badly: cities like Portland, San Fran, and Philly crash and burn, so this administration chooses to ignore Congress completely and just starts sending them billions by bureaucratic order, just like they are doing with Ukraine. The fed will just add a zero to the balance in every government account to make sure there's plenty of cash to go around. This is the path to Argentine style inflation - 10 per cent per month.

not to defend Ukraine - that's not my job - but the story they are pushing is the laughably ridiculous claim that the pipeline was really blown up by the Skipper and Gillian with bombs that the Professor made out of coconuts. Seriously, they are claiming that 6 people on a pleasure yacht sailed to the middle of the baltic and somehow were able to carry out an extremely sophisticated deep water demolition. The US tried pushing this about a year ago, and then just quit talking about it. The only reason for this story is to try to provide some explanation (rather than just stonewalling forever) that lets the Russians, the Americans, and yes the official Uke govm't off the hook for any blame. (that's why it says "rogue elements".)

The US did it - the evidence is indisputable. And everyone in NATO knows the US did it, and is fine with it.

Power was restored at around 2230 last night.

Hand is discolored and swollen, looks like I sprained it pretty good. Woke up due to the pain at around five this morning.

Can't make a fist or flex the knuckles in any way, much less pick anything up.

Trying to get around with one hand sucks.

Youngest daughter's b-day is tomorrow, and gonna have to be careful around the g-kids.

One man scoured all the publicly available air vehicle tracing records, and found that a US anti-sub was on station and hovering over the sight of the first explosion *at the time* that it happened. Also, a US Navy P3 (capable of underwater monitoring) took off from its base some time *before* the explosion, flew directly to the site with no deviations, and arrived shortly after the explosion to begin monitoring the situation. This same plane flew directly to the site of the 2nd explosion that happened later, and did the same thing. There is no question that the US military knew the exact time and location of both of these blasts before they happened. IE, it was a US Naval operation, most likely an underwater demolition team operating from a sub.

Thank you for all prayers and well wishes for R. Her procedure showed no sign of advancement of the issue and she tolerated the anesthesia without too much trouble this time. She's not completely back to normal but should be in a day or two more.

Forget about the nonsensical faggotry of it all, the vast majority of people do not have the technical expertise, desire or inclination to change their own ceiling fan(s), so it's going to cost anywhere from 50 to 150 per fan to change them out.

There is no cost savings, AT ALL.

I'm pretty sure they aren't going to perform a door-to-door search for old ceiling fans. This will be requirements imposed on the fan making industry to redesign their fans to please their task masters in Babylon DC. I suspect that there really isn't much that can be done to materially improve the fan motors, except some exotic bearings or more copper windings on the motor, so the "efficiency" is mostly towards blade design - essentially they are criminalizing designer fans that aesthetically bring a room together.

Putin has proven himself to be an unimaginative thug, a complete idiot when it comes to navigating international arenas. He never does the sensible or straightforward thing - he waits, does nothing, lets the situation get terrible, then lashes out, then denies it all in a way that no one believes him. Look at the whole situation with Prig, which is Putin's fault more than anyone else's. Everyone with sense knew it was insane to nurture a huge mercenary army that would be in competition with your regular army, that it would have to end badly. Now, after almost having to deal with a coup, he's ended it by decapitating Wagner, but there will be plenty of internal blowback from that for years to come. Just one of his mistakes.

It's the long-running coffee battle that got going big in the 1980's. Brewed cups from the red can for most of my life but about 10 years ago, switched to the blue can and have stayed with it since. Folgers has a more smoky but somewhat bitter aftertaste. Maxwell House has a more ripe but fruiter aftertaste. It's that lingering aftertaste that made me switch.
Of course neither can hold a candle to the Southern Pecan coffee I ocassionally grab a cup of when down at the local Dodges convenience store.

152 Haven’t posted in awhile, here’s an update. Mrs.Bob finally came for a visit, planned for a week, but left after one day. She said reconciliation was just too much work, that she felt free and unburdened without me and the kids, and that God wanted her to be happy and she could only think of herself. She left without explanation or goodbye to the girls, and, for the last three weeks has been making party girl posts on FB (here’s me at the live music fest at the bar, etc.) Our youngest came to me crying when she posted one saying, “so blessed to have friends with boats” along with a selfie on a party barge. Daughter asked why she thought friends with boats was a greater blessing than the family she’s left behind. Anyway, she served me with papers on Tuesday, so soon it will all be behind me. On the bright side, I’ve lost 115 lbs, started flight school, and, most importantly am closer to God and my girls than ever. Still pray daily for wife- don’t know or understand who she is anymore.

153 I avoided serious injury about 2 months ago. I stepped on a rotten deck board and my whole right leg went through. I went down hard on my left knee and right hand. Lucky there wasn't screws or nails where I went through, otherwise I'd have been down at the ER.

My left knee is scarred from the impact and my right wrist still aches from time to time.

I would also like to pray for the Christians who are sometimes small in number at some schools-that they find ways to support one another and feel empowered with strength by the Holy Spirit. There is a young lady at my son's college who is taking over the leadership of the college prayer group. I don't know her name but this is an important responsibility. Thanks.

172 Update on my granddaughter. At this time last Saturday morning, she was back home. Then the seizures started up again and got more frequent through the day. Saturday evening she was readmitted to the hospital and restabilized. Her last seizure was last Monday evening. They expect to discharge her today or tomorrow.

We thought the big drought-stricken limb on the oak tree out front had broken completely off and was wedged on a limb stump. Turns out after trimming it down, there is still a flap holding it in place.
The disposal was always a job for the tree guys, but now it's going to hang there 'til October probably.

I had a friend working on an old house, he was on a stepladder working on a light fixture, and coming down, he gave a little jump off. Went through the rotten floor just like Tom Hanks in Money Pit, and was left there yelling for help to get out, since he was stuck hard. Luckily he wasn't hurt, just scraped up, and it was pretty damned funny to see.

Sometimes the smart play is to step back and let events play out. I had to do that with my eldest kid, and it's hard to watch someone flame out. You want to stop it, but often the only way they will stop is when they themselves hit bottom. Throwing cushions down to soften the blow only drags out the process.

The current working theory -- which seems to be working -- is that her body is processing carbs OK but her brain is not, causing the seizures. They have transitioned her to a keto diet and have her on seizure control meds but the most effective one can only be administered in the hospital. Once she hits ketosis, they began weaning her off that med, which is the point we're at right now. If she remains stable on the diet and off the med, they'll send her home.

Do not know yet whether youngest will choose a major that requires graduate school, she just started freshman year at West Florida in Pensacola, doing general studies, hasn’t declared a major. I’m fully supporting them both- Mrs. Bob abandoned them both physically, financially, and emotionally- although she did call the one at Bama to ask for “as many tickets as she could get to the football game against Chattanooga” and if she and friends could crash at her apartment.

In large volume production they most probably will be molded but things get complicated when you have to have a system that's dynamically balanced.

You're correct about bad info - but there's no dispute that the entire leadership structure of the Wagner Group was liquidated a couple days ago, and it's ridiculous to suggest that happened without Putin's approval. Immediate consequence - now Russia will have to deal with a large number of heavily armed, very violent men internally who will be analogous to Ronin, with no clear loyalty to anyone. Most will gravitate to the organized crime organizations, since I doubt many will turn good soldier for a lot less pay.

The Russian military is now one of the most proficient and experienced in the world and could probably crush us before we can explain our pronouns to them.

It's a form of Calvinism, the notion that some people are just saved for whatever reason and therefore can do what they want. Calvinist luminary Karl Barth was considered the leading theologian of the 20th Century yet he kept a mistress in his home for 40 years, carefully concealing it so his reputation wouldn't suffer.

Worse still, he felt justified in doing so because his work was so important, and his secretary (the mistress) so necessary that he reasoned it was part of God's plan. His adultery had divine sanction, because love can't be wrong. He wrote that in the 1920s, btw, showing how old the "love is love" trope is.

I had a friend here, a hispanic man who worked with his hands. Stable, sensible, not glamorous but solid. Teenage kids. His wife left him for some flashy looking guy she met at her office who was 10 years younger than her, and had a nicer house. She jumped ship and moved in with him, without a second thought, cold as ice.

Flash forward one year, and suddenly New Boyfriend is kicking her out of the house, trading her in on a new model, 20 years younger. (Surprise, surprise) So she goes back to old husband, crying, saying "boo hoo hoo, it was all a big mistake, I never meant it, I got no place to live now." I was proud of him - he just said "NO."

It's freaky. Their military has been shown to be pretty incompetent. But as you note, these are now blooded troops, no longer green ones, and they know the lay of the land in the combat theater. They'll be able to form the nucleus of a larger army, when Putin's recruiting woes becomes a thing of the past, after the US attacks Russia.

We are at a transition point, and much of the madness we see is because the people negatively effected are struggling to process it.

A bunch of universities are going to close. There simply aren't enough students for all of them. The smaller population is also learning how worthless a degree is compared to its cost. If you want a job, go the vocational route. Universities are an expensive finishing school, nothing more.

That was overturning an Oregon decision from the 20's (Oregon had a lot of KKK that was focused on Catholics, then) targeting parochial schools. "children do not belong to the state" was the decision. If the kids are required to attend school and the system is set up so that the cost and hassle of private or home schooling is prohibitively complicated and expensive, and then will not allow escape from certain offensive curricula, it may well be an indication that the schools are claiming the children belong to them anyways.

It's been here for years. Must (if not most) of the craziness is actually spiritual warfare. The bizarre insistence on sexualizing children, for example. The use of state power to keep open liquor stores while closing churches to stop the spread of a disease.

It's interesting to see which "conservatives" actually have faith vs those who use it gull the rubes. Dubya is a great example - totally silent when Roe fell, but happy to help throw shade at Trump who made it happen.

It's interesting to see people around me who get what is happening vs those who don't. The irreligious ones seem much more agitated than those who understand what's actually going on.

In the late 80's/early 90's I did JC for a few years and then a nearby University for a few years. Got a technical BS degree, which paid for itself. Then again, in Kali back in the day, the JC was $50/semester (not counting books and the $10 parking permit, but commuted from home) and the university was around $500/semester not counting books, room and board (too far from home to commute).

I found that article, and it was fascinating. The NCAA's fatal flaw was that it was a extra-legal governing body, relying only on the agreement of its members. It never had any actual legal authority, which is why it lost when it found its rules challenged in court.

I'm just finishing cup #1, but yeah, don't believe any of it. "Cases are up" is not the same as a health crisis. If anything, due to silly policies, hospitals in particular will face personnel shortages, when they test everybody, and find more people testing positive, and force them to stay home. Which means, when a typical hospital flow into the autumn and winter hit, they won't be at capacity, and won't be able to manage the patient flow.

So they'll tell everyone to put on masks, which won't make any difference, but because everyone is hyper-focused on testing, they will have manufactured a "crisis."

All indications whatever strain we're up to now, it'll just keep becoming more infectious, and less harmful. Which is what viruses do, even manufactured ones, but they'll leave out that part.

Just look at the calendar. Enlistments are typically 8 years in all, with varying obligations of active duty, typically 3-6. So the last people to sign up under Trump did so in 2020. Enlistments started to fall in 2021, but were shored up by pulling forward future enlistees. That pool is gone.

The vaxx debacle caused additional attrition, either through actual discharges or accelerated retirements.

On top of that, there's the lousy culture and the fact that as the shortfall drags on, the few that remain have to work harder, do more deployments, etc. The funny thing is that the Pentagon refuses to disband any units, because that means less general officer billets, so we have hollow formations.

457 Meant to update sooner on my brother Mike's stomach cancer, which continues to progress unfortunately. Another PET scan is scheduled for mid September. One doctor is hopeful while another doubts he'll make it to 70.

Whichever the case, he's determined to enjoy his remaining years with travel, fine clothes, and cool watches. He's recently bonded with Little, whose a bit of a clothes horse himself.

One additional prayer that I'll request is that God repair the relationship between Mike and his daughter in law which soured for reasons known only to her. I've walked that particularly dark valley in my own marriage and it did not end well.

The ideas and policies that are attempted to be imposed are wildly impossible and seemingly designed to be unappealing to the average person. I've seen this type of callous selfishness before, up close and personal. If it came on suddenly and unexpectedly, then I strongly suspect the use of some of the heavier illegal drugs. Sometimes a person will have their conscience seared to a crisp, and then all they care about is their next fix and having a good time. Family no longer means anything to them. It's ... sad to watch, and sadder to be on the receiving end of.
