The Morning Report — 8/24/23

cannedfatuous.jpg

Good morning, kids. If you watched the debate debasement last night thinking that you were going to see democracy in action, and thereby get a clearer picture of who you might vote for to lead the country come 2024, you're an idiot. That said, considering the readers and commenters here in the main are among the most informed and clear-headed about the state of affairs as they really are, last night's spectacle was most illuminating, albeit for other reasons.

The one thing that I for sure came away with was having even more respect for Vivek Ramaswamy as perhaps a future leader and for sure in the main a voice of sanity and reason on a number of issues and fronts. If for no other reason than the confirmed globalist/Deep State flunkies and traitors occupying the rest of the stage focused all their attacks directly on him. Flak + proximity to target. QED. Supposedly he's a flip-flopper (see the kerfuffle about his position on foreign aid to Israel), but from what I have seen, he explains his positions well when given the chance, and not just the usual "splunge" response that we know so well. I would have liked to have heard from Larry Elder, or to have him slice and dice his opponents, but of course, that could not be tolerated.

The other thing that last night's sturm und drang underscored was not only the utter uselessness of the format, but more to the point the utter uselessness of being elected President if your mission is to go against those who are really running the country, and for all intents and purposes have been running it since at least the end of World War 2: the unelected and unaccountable Bureaucracy. Even the two presidents that tried with varying degrees of success to reverse course, Reagan and Trump, perhaps only slowed things down.

Even if they weren't buffoons, liars, poseurs and scumbags (Vivek and DeSantis excluded) and instead you had a group of actual intellects and accomplished leaders engaged in thoughtful, spirited, real debate, it would still be meaningless in terms of where we are as a nation and society.

Love him, hate him, indifferent about him, Donald Trump is going to present himself to this Fani Willis cancer and allow himself to be booked, handcuffed and get a mugshot taken for the crime of exercising his First Amendment rights. Period. Now put that in context to last night's idiocy. You'd have been better entertained and enlightened by watching reruns of The Gong Show, my observations about Vivek Ramaswamy notwithstanding.

And speaking of Trump, he sat out the debate and instead sat down with Tucker Carlson for an extended interview. Did it help him or hurt him to not be on that stage last night? The interview reportedly garnered 90 million views in three hours. Surely, not all of those views were Trump supporters and by the time I post this column it will be even more than that.

Of course, there's the substance of what he said as well as the questions that were posed by TuCa. You'll have to judge both of those for yourselves. While the interview, IMHO, was for sure more informative than the Milwaukee shit-show on Fox, we're still dealing with a flawed man and a flawed candidate who nevertheless racked up more real positive accomplishments in just three years as POTUS than arguably any predecessor in 50-100 years. So, you have to balance all of that out and see what side of the scale it comes out on, and in comparison to his chief rival, DeSantis (as of this writing) as to who is deserving of your support – as the candidate.

Yet that flies in the face of my assertion of who runs the country and the credibility of elections going forward from what happened in 2020 and possibly to a lesser extent in some of the races in the '22 midterms. In that light, Trump's words and actions are a puzzler as he too seems to be playing the "politics as usual" game despite the fact of what he faces in Atlanta later today.

Erudite commenter Yudhishthira's Dice posted this comment last Friday, responding to another commenter who stated "The Left is deeply afraid of President Trump."

This is ridiculous, and reveals a near total misapprehension of this entire situation by whoever says that kind of thing.

The left has no fear of him, nor should they. from the moment he beat Hill Dawg, he was just a pig in the Party's poke. They easily contained him. The GOP faction stymied his entire agenda in Congress, while the Dem faction hamstrung him with nonstop investigations. He was isolated and sidelined with alacrity, before they deposed him in a coup.

If he, or any outsider, overcomes the staggering odds and somehow wins another 'election,' this will be repeated. Or they'll just quit wasting time, and shoot the guy. Who's going to question it, at this point?

None of this was ever about fear of a bombastic billionaire dilettante. It was about fear of *us.* The Party thought they had this country completely sewn up. When he chewed up and spit out all their candidates from Jeb to Hillary, they realized they'd overestimated the degree of control they held.

Everything since then has been about putting us in our places and demonstrating their absolute power to the restive masses.

Yup.

A coup d’etat is when a small group of people suddenly try to take power and subjugate a nation by force.

A coup du publique is when a small group of people already in power try to further subjugate an entire population by methodically taking away whatever rights they may have left.

That global sense of unease, that nearly audible universal skincrawl taking place across the planet, that unquestionable deprivation of the right to ask questions, that which is happening right now: that is the coup du publique in action.

In a run-of-the-mill coup d’etat, it is axiomatic that the people staging the coup seize the radio station, usually even before they track down and meat hook the unfortunate Great Leader of the People and Terror of the Nation’s Enemies and President For Life and replace him with some other Grand High Dirtbag. . .

. . . In a sense, a coup is the opposite of a revolution in that it thrives not on the active involvement of the citizenry, but its passive isolation, unlike in popular uprisings and protests.

For example, besides the fact that it was over in time for dinner, that Jan. 6 participants called the next day asking if they could stop by to pick up jackets they left behind, that a significant percentage of the participants were being paid by certain government agencies to be there, that participants stood around taking pictures of statues, and that the police on scene may have allowed a large proportion of the protestors in is why the tragic stupidity of January 6 was not a coup or an insurrection or anything more than a stupid thoughtless gift to the Democrats and their deep state allies.

But what if you flip that script just a tiny bit and make sure that – before any other planning, ally recruiting, etc., is even started – you made sure to quietly, incrementally take control of the information infrastructure first?  A few years ago, that meant radio and television stations and phone company HQ – today that means the internet as it is all three in one.

And if instead of overthrowing a government, you did this to ensure a government’s survival and expansion – the public be damned.  Then you would not have a coup d’etat but a coup du publique.

And that is what is happening in real time around the world right now.  But this coup is not replacing the government – it is replacing the people. . .

. . . This coup is not one of bullets but of butter, brains, and banishment.  It does not promise an escape from the tyranny of the past but brazenly proclaims a new tyranny, under which people will be forcibly cared for from cradle to grave.

The American Revolution revolved around individuals asserting their rights to create a new system of governance:

We the People.

The coup du publique carries a diametrically different core belief and will result in a final soul-crushing status for all humans:

You Were the People.

Not to worry though. Crisco Christie will save the day!

15 I think the most revelatory thing about the entire debate for me was Burgum. Not that he did great shakes on the stage, but that he a.) existed at all and b.) wasn't obviously crazy or evil. He's the only one that I think totally helped himself last night, in that Vivek and DeSantis lived up to expectations but we already knew they were pretty good. I wouldn't be surprised to see him either get heavily promoted by the controlled opposition as an alternative or end up in a Cabinet role, depending on whether or not he really IS worthwhile.

Asa Hutchinson is an embarrassment to the South. I'd rather vote for the Jersey Devil than Chris Christie. No big surprise there.

To a certain extent ^^ this ^^ is exactly what is happening. Look at FedGov's response to Musk buying Twitter. The involvement of the Intelligence Community in most, if not all of social media and certainly inside the telecom industry at every turn.

If FedGov didn't have a hand in turning the MFM I'd be surprised, but I'll also allow legacy media is wholly populated with leftists anyway.

Taking over the Internet, at least here in US is, I think, a goal of FedGov. How that happens is unclear, but we've seen a taste of "misinformation, disinformation and malinformation" being used to censor or misdirect people to the preferred narrative.

65 Ramaswamy went on to describe a scenario that he says “doesn’t make much sense on the face of it.” He explained how a 42-year-old Saudi Arabian graduate student went to Los Angeles International Airport and, while there, met up with two Saudi nationals who went on to hijack a plane on 9/11, which they then crashed into the Pentagon.

The graduate student claimed the encounter happened “randomly,” after which he “takes them to his house, spends lots of time with them [and] integrates them into them into the community.” On 9/11, the two young terrorists killed themselves and everyone else on board a commercial jet they hijacked and crashed into the Pentagon.

That is the stupidest idea I have heard in a long time. But that is on brand for Bongino.

Yudhishthira's Dice gifted us a concise SITREP. Bongino is living in his high school days if he thinks a stunt like this, giving himself to a people who had no problems killing a couple of Kennedys and pesky public motivators like King and Malik Shabazz, is somehow mad strategery.

This is like going into court totally unprepared and just going to wing it. This isn't a test of OODA cycle speed, this is throwing gasoline on to a fire and seeing what happens next.

The Coup D'Publique author makes a good point, that a Coup D'etat is a group taking power away from the existing structure. What we're living through is a group that was already in power cementing their control on all levels. In South America this kind of thing has long been referred to as an "Autogolpe", or self-coup, and it usually means jailing all high level political opponents.

We have become the biggest banana republic in the world, we no longer have any more rights or power than the sad residents of Venezuela do.

78 DeSantis’s Debate Dodges. Again and again during the GOP debate in Milwaukee, the uncomfortable Florida governor squirmed and evaded.

Martha MacCallum, asked the candidates: “Do you believe human behavior is causing climate change?"...Baier then prompted DeSantis: “Was that a yes? Is that a hand-raise?”

“I think it was a hand-raise for him,” said Ramaswamy. To which DeSantis replied: “No, no, no. I didn’t raise a hand.” He never answered the question.

A few minutes later, Baier asked DeSantis: “Would you sign a six-week ban federally?” DeSantis replied: “I’m going to stand on the side of life...But I will support the cause of life as governor and as president.” He never answered the question.

Baier asked the candidates: “Is there anyone onstage who would not support the increase [of] funding to Ukraine?” DeSantis didn’t answer. “I will have Europe pull their weight,” he said. “Right now they’re not doing that.”

On the campaign trail, DeSantis loves to talk about being clear-eyed and resolute. But the only decision he made in the debate, again and again, was to duck and cover. If he’s nominated—and if he’s elected—expect more of the same.

79 I recall seeing footage from inside the Capitol on J6. Cell phone videos from various politicos. In a couple of them you can clearly tell these people are terrified of being dragged out into the streets and strung up. It's why shortly thereafter the capitol city was turned into a fortress (and AFAIK still is.)

So, yea, the political establishment with the help from the MFM and a huge chunk of social media is quickly trying to consolidate power.

The pointless political debates are a sideshow to distract us from "other things" while prolonging the appearance that "voting" and "elections" still matter.

98 I had missed that YD comment. Brilliant. And kudos for calling out this surreal shitshow, JJ. You also have been spot on about the situation and were early to do so.

When history is written, assuming the world has not been reduced to ashes by the psychopaths in charge of this nation, the responsible parties for America's descent into a totalitarian police state will be legion. None will bear more blame than the Republican Party, though. Whether it was unable or unwilling to act as an actual opposition party does not matter. It lied to people and made them think it could either way and lulled them to sleep until the iron curtain fell.

Yesterday nine people were booked for the crime of practicing law and zealously defending their client. Most if not all had loyally served the GOP, and in cases like Eastman, for decades. There was not a peep about this. Further, the state propaganda whore Fox dared not ask such a question.

GOP losses will be catastrophic. The second worst part is that will have been richly earned. The worst part will be it would not have mattered if they had won. YD nailed it.

That quote I was responding to was from an essay by some ConInc scribbler... I forget who. Doesn't matter. A regular person believing it is just mistaken.

Someone paid to analyze politics ought to damned well know the Left isn't afraid of anyone except for the masses. If they don't, "ridiculous" is a soft epithet.

"Fool or knave" would be more appropriate, but I guess I was feeling charitable.

165 GOP losses will be catastrophic.

Other than Meatball, has anyone on that stage effectively done anything w/r/t Voter Integrity?

Even during that Trump interview, where we saw an old man just rambling about God-Only-Knows-What, unable or unwilling to answer any of Tucker's questions, when asked about voter fraud, Trump just hopes that somehow this will be different because of the emotion of his base.

GOP losses could be catastrophic because the McGOP has zero interest in actually winning a fair election because they don't want fair elections.

Apparently running for office alone pulls in enough cash, because I can't think of any reason why six of those muppets on stage where there for any other reason that to establish their grift in campaign contributions that are the politicians' to keep after losing an election.

There is nothing normal about this.

And the vast majority of conservatives will blame Republicans, for not supporting Trump, if Trump loses. They will stay home or vote D. And all the predictions of destruction by the elites? They will reply, " you chose to cause this first, not me."

I agree with basically all of that, but the point is that even if there were a completely clean and fair and free election, "winning" does not matter since the officeholders are impotent. The empty pageants of elections have been retained for foreign consumption and lectures from the world's greatest dictatorship about freedom and democracy. With the full acknowledgement that whatever comes next very well could be worse (it certainly will be horrbly painful), things change only when the system implodes and dies. In the meantime we can do as Havel recommended and live as if we were free, but these totalitarian lunatics are worse than the Czech communists.

214 Oh and to be clear abortion had NOTHING to do with the results of the 2022 election. Nothing.

In states with strong election protections R candidates overperformed. In states with weak election protections they underperformed.

This doesn't match up with feminists mad about abortion (who vote every election anyway). It does match up with large scale vote fraud.

215 I'm reminded of the guy Pearl Davis interviewed who said that he had seven kids from seven different baby mommas.

He said he offered each of them to pay for an abortion and they said no. She asked if he was paying child support and he said no - he offered to pay for the abortion why should he be on the hook for child support?

Then she asked how the government hadn't forced him to pay child support and this part was...amazing. Those seven women didn't know his real name, where he lived, or where he worked.

217 I'll concede Trump isn't doing anything about vote fraud.
But, I gotta ask: Which state are you talking about where something realistically can be done?

GA? Kemp and Raff _wanted_ Trump to lose. They won't do anything.
AZ, MI, WI? Which office do Rs hold that they can do anything?
NV? Maybe.

But let us be real here: 1) the vast majority of the cheat was accomplished under illegal Covid emergency rule changes. 2) the courts at every level refused to stop those violations and now are bringing criminal charges against Trump for even talking about those violations. 3) if they fake up another emergency-- or even just say, "fuck it, elections are an emergency"-- there is literally nothing that can be done to stop them.

So what is this Sekret Plan to Stop Vote Fraud that we should know?

I don't feel particularly brave, but thanks. It comes with the territory-that if one is one a conservative blog, there will be people who object to women pastors, others who want to get into debates about theology which I don't do (As far as Christians, If people confess with their lips and believe in their heart that Jesus is Lord and God raised him from the dead, they're my sister or brother) and since half my family background is Jewish I appreciate the Jewish brothers and sisters here too. But, yes, I notice that there are no other pastors posting here. Either they have much larger churches-which wouldn't be hard or they are wiser than I am.

Why do I post here? Because I appreciate a place where people are conservative (even if I don't always agree with them on everything), and people here are funny, kindly and prayerful people who have helped others here including my church.

Also, I hope that something I post here in the tech thread might be helpful to others.

It was a great business model when they had a monopoly. Hell when I lived in Chicago you were only allowed one choice depending on what building you lived in, even if the other side of the street had the other provider at lower rates. As soon as another realistic option came along it became unsustainable but those people are dinosaurs and could never dream up a scenario in which theyd lose their sub fees. 251 The other thing that last night's sturm und drang underscored was not only the utter uselessness of the format, but more to the point the utter uselessness of being elected President if your mission is to go against those who are really running the country, and for all intents and purposes have been running it since at least the end of World War 2: the unelected and unaccountable Bureaucracy. Even the two presidents that tried with varying degrees of success to reverse course, Reagan and Trump, perhaps only slowed things down.
++++
At this risk of committing cardinal conservative sin, I'd say Trump moreso than Reagan. Reagan's goal was not so much breaking teeth off of the Deep State ratchet, but was rather the destruction of the USSR. He accomplished his goal (though it took longer than his administration to reach full flower). He also capitulated on a lot of domestic affairs - immigration most of all. He didn't go after the bureaucracy other than perhaps the PATCO incident. He didn't go after the IC at all, nor was he wary of foreign military action. Reagan was, mostly for good reasons, fairly world-focused rather than mostly domestic-focused.

As JJ noted above, there are signs of hope, but 'fraud'.

One thing I have tried to point out here and there over the past 3 years here. To me, it seems simple:
-there was a coup
-it only makes sense that the people who undertook the coup CANNOT surrender power now. OR they cannot let anyone 'else' assume power who would take action against them (note, this is not Pence and various others.)

Note how no one is even talking about election security in the abstract?

276 But what if you flip that script just a tiny bit and make sure that – before any other planning, ally recruiting, etc., is even started – you made sure to quietly, incrementally take control of the information infrastructure first? A few years ago, that meant radio and television stations and phone company HQ – today that means the internet as it is all three in one.
++++
And the had the prior three in advance, at least since the Great Depression. The newspapers were the wildcard. The internet was the biggest wildcard of them all, because the internet was - and largely remains - uncontrollable.

What is *not* uncontrollable, however, are the great platforms. You don't *have* to use the platforms - the rest of the internet did not vanish with the advent of Facebook and Twitter and Tumblr and Mastodon and YouTube and the like - but most people do. They lowered the barriers to entry and people flocked to them, then network effects took care of the rest.

The internet is not social media, but for all intents and purposes, that doesn't matter anymore. Control the great platforms, control the internet in terms of what matters.

The problem isn't Fox. The problem is that the GOP gave Fox the debate. They need to cut them out of the conversation, but of course, the GOPe doesn't want to do that.

My memory is your odds of getting pregnant from one unprotected sex act aren't that high either. So if he knocked up 7, and he paid for abortions for other, he was likely having sex with a LOT of women under this arraignment.

I just saw a report that China is basically in the same boat. No one is getting married, no one is having children. Young women are pushed to be girl bosses, have careers, make money, travel, sleep around...and then think about kids in their mid 30s, when it suddenly is too late.

For men, they are either attractive and successful, so they just play the field for years and never settle down, or they're normal, don't meet the standard of the girl bosses, and they just give up. It's a global phenomenon.

294 In a run-of-the-mill coup d’etat, it is axiomatic that the people staging the coup seize the radio station, usually even before they track down and meat hook the unfortunate Great Leader of the People and Terror of the Nation’s Enemies and President For Life and replace him with some other Grand High Dirtbag.
++++
An ideal, nearly textbook example of this is what happened in Japan in August of 1945. The emperor executed a coup against his own government (because, of course, it wasn't really his government). In secret, with his aides, he recorded an announcement of Japan's surrender to the United States. The record (literally) was reproduced. One group of the Emperor's guard took one of the copies to the radio station and seized the operation while the other group was plunging daggers into political officers at the palace. The broadcast of the surrender - nearly incomprehensible because of the use of formal, old language yet nonetheless effective - happened *during* the coup at the palace. It was good insurance. The emperor had a cult of office and the people were ready for an end to the war. The radio helped guarantee Hirohito's success.

Posted by: Huck Follywood at August 24, 2023 09:02 AM (ugR9R)

Indeed. People are hidebound... dead set on trying to make change within the existing political order.

Forget about political violence for the moment... even nonviolent resistance is pretty sparse, even though it's still technically legal.

Sadly, by the time millions of people to stand up to a regime, like in Poland, it happens because conditions have gotten so bad that they now have to protest against violent authoritarian apparatchiks who will actively repress them.

And in Poland, that only worked because they were incredibly stubborn, and the regime was exhausted. Usually, it means a violent uprising. That and the wider collapse of the USSR/Warsaw Pact was a truly unique case.

It also helps enforce paternity, which is extraordinarily important. As "Enjoy the Show" put it at 279:
How about nobody supports the kid ? Sounds harsh, eh ? Well, taking food off my table, away from me and mine, to support somebody else is harsh as well.

That's the crux of the problem, insofar as it is a problem. If you want me to help raise your child - an expensive, emotionally-draining, difficult and long-term exercise - then it had better be *my* child, too unless I know the conditions going in (e.g., the children are existing and I am aware of that and find it acceptable). Maternity is never in question. Paternity *always* is, and the harsh reality described above is one of the mechanisms of reducing the question marks around paternity.

333 Trump "surrendering" to Fulton county DA is propaganda. For both sides. Trump's doing it because of course he is. He's not going to jail. At least not anytime soon. If the Secret Service is really on the up-n-up with him they would not let him go if they suspected foul play.

The Plan™ all along has been to hamstring Trump with legal issues so he can't focus on running. I doubt he'll be charged and convicted of anything that puts him in jail. But it will give states a reason, legit or not, to keep him off their ballots. That's the goal.

The more rabid leftists want him in prison, or dead, but the results of that are too nebulous at this time to consider. That may, or may not change moving forward.

They're just mad that TFG is being held accountable for actual crimes, so they need to invent ones to use against Biden.

Meanwhile the end of the fiscal year is approaching and conservatives have no plan except to destroy freedom and democracy. To conservatives in Washington and to the stupid people they love there is no price for that move. A reflection on their lack of money management skills.

Taking powers illegally assigned to the Administrative State by our supremely lazy Congress, and sending those functions back to the states obviously won't solve the problem, but at least the problem gets moved closer to the voters.

It also has the not inconsiderable benefit of making corruption harder to accomplish and more expensive, since it has to be done fifty times instead of once.

I suspect 20 years ago that only gay men, top notch athletes/musicians/move stars, and full time prostitutes would hit this kind of number.

Now? I suspect it is still very high for a straight woman but...high two digits? Not as shocking as it once was.

380 "For decades, the former Disney-run RCID used taxpayer funds to provide season passes and amusement experiences to its employees and their family members, cover the cost of discounts on hotels, merchandise, food, and beverages, and give its own board members VIP Main Entrance passes," the release states. "In 2022 alone, it cost taxpayers over $2.5 million."

The board also points out that "the scheme raises significant questions regarding self-dealing as the board members were only permitted a maximum of $100 per month in compensation per the Reedy Creek Improvement District Act."

What a shocker. Who could have predicted self-dealing and corrupt payments to Disney?

I disagree. His "Triangle of Power and Hate" (which was brilliantly described by him) fractured under internal pressure in the absence of external support from the now-dissolved (albeit very recently) USSR. If the USSR hadn't fallen, Romania might not have. That coup probably wouldn't have happened, since the military - who indeed would have been swept up in the coming conflagration - likely would have been reinforced by Moscow and so probably wouldn't have executed the coup.

But there's no way to prove any of it, just historical wonderings.

Mea Culpa, though what I was also looking for during the debate was Horde input for, as also written, they are "among the most informed and clear-headed about the state of affairs." Governors, former & current, by virtue of the elected position as a "mini" president, have knowledge of the Administrative State, the Swamp. (A step up from those without such experience & one factor that damaged PDT.) What they were prior & how they got there shouldn't be overlooked imo so, for ex, when some commenters railed against ND Gov. Burgum they made me look for more past info abt him, i.e., Fortune, 6/6/16, 'This Ex-Microsoft Star Now Wants to Run North Dakota' by the
Associated Press. Christie and Bridgegate; he also comes from a state with abortion to birth.

I'm not pro Our Common Agenda, 2030-2050 agendas, THE war & wacko partnerships which Congress supports ($$$) with glee. I'm grateful to PDT for stances of pro USA & Israel, anti-ISIS, keeping an eye on China/US savings/investments & N. Korea & more.

My best place is where I am. Peace.

Also, the DNA of everyone who a person has deeply (tongue) kissed remains in the oral cavity.

I'm reminded that it can be just one sexual encounter to result in a lifetime STD or pregnancy.

Rather than warn youngsters of this biological Russian Roulette, and abstain until marriage (I hear your laughter) they're given instructions how to fornicate safely...which is rarely practiced in the heat of a passionate moment.

But it's taxpayers who are on the hook to take care of the consequences of such behavior. And, the unfortunate, unwanted, aborted baby.

399 " The GOP faction stymied his entire agenda in Congress, "
That is obviously false. One of the signature achievements of President Trump was signing into law the major tax reform bill passed by the Redpublican-controlled House and Senate. It reduced the tax rates for lower, middle and upper middle earners, and raised them on the wealthy. There had been no tax reform for 30+ years.
It is one of President Trump's most important accomplishments.
