Lionsgate Studios Re-Imposes Mask Mandates

Two weeks to "slow the summer spike," baby.

Mask mandates are making a return to Lionsgate's Santa Monica, California, office, according to a memo sent to employees on Monday.
In the email provided to Fox News Digital, Sommer McElroy, Response Manager for Lionsgate/Starz, stated that "effective immediately" masks will be required on certain floors in their Santa Monica offices "until further notice." According to Deadline Hollywood, this encompasses "nearly half of the company's employees at its flagship office at 2700 Colorado Ave. in Santa Monica."
"Employees must wear a medical grade face covering (surgical mask, KN95 or N95) when indoors except when alone in an office with the door closed, actively eating, actively drinking at their desk or workstation, or if they are the only individual present in a large open workspace," McElroy said.
In addition, Lionsgate will maintain a "building entry policy" where each employee is "required to perform a daily self-screening prior to coming to the office each day" and must notify McElroy if there are "new or worsening symptoms" or if they "travelled internationally in the last 10 days." Lionsgate will also conduct contact tracing and notify "all individuals who have been in close contact with employees who have tested positive for COVID-19."
The studio is expected to provide at-home-test-kits to all staff in the Lionsgate Santa Monica office at request. Surgical mask and KN95s will be available at the front desk while N95s will be available upon request.
McElroy explained in the memo that the new mandates follow several employees testing positive for COVID-19 as cases have begun to rise.

Niccole Saphier criticized the move, pointing out that covid has "spiked" every winter and at the end of each summer, so having a couple of cases now is perfectly usual.

She also pointed out the small fact that... masks simply do not work, and even among the masks that don't work, the stupid drug store surgical masks that everyone wears don't work most of all.

To have any kind of real protection (that also doesn't really work), you need to wear a KN95 or N95 mask. And those don't work. Because to even make them not work in an acceptable manner, you have to put them on so tight that the straps leave creases in your face, and no one does that.

Saphier added, "Those don't actually work as we've seen by many, many studies. But to actually say, you know, to wear masks again in the house and just being in public spaces, we have to move on."

Recently, more mainstream media outlets have begun suggesting a return to masking. MSNBC ran a segment on kids masking to prevent the spread of the virus at the beginning of the new school year, PBS had one about wearing masks in crowded areas to prevent the spread, and CBS Mornings warned about the "Summer COVID Spike" that may happen due to people letting "their guard down" and forgetting to mask.

I saw 5 people with masks over 4 days. Five.

FL isn't NY. DeSantis's replacement may be a disappointment. I think the larger issue is that FL ends up becoming a Republican machine politics state.

However, that doesn't change the fact that the voters of FL, with a massive influx of people, went from almost giving the governorship to Andrew Gillum to giving DeSantis, #2 Hitler of today, a 19 point victory. The point is that the migration out of blue states does appear to be conservative in nature.

As you may know, I got laid off at the end of June. Tomorrow, I have my first job interview (virtual) since that happened. I'm quite excited about the position, because it's with a company that is a lot like the company I just left. However, it does involve some areas that, while I am somewhat familiar with them, I don't have much direct experience with. But the salary would be a nice raise.

Since this is my first job interview in a while, I'm kind of obsessing about it. I'm war-gaming it today and getting psychologically prepared. Knowing that I'm getting prayers from the Horde for a successful (or, at least, not horrible) interview would really be a great comfort to me.

303 KN 95 masks have no valve. N 95 have a valve. KN recycle what you exhale back into the air you are breathing but also "protect" others as a valve allows free flow of exhaled air.

I have around 800 N95 masks sitting there that we used to go through like toilet paper yet couldn't use during Covid.
Now nobody will use them. They used to be a requirement in certain parts of my shop but since Fauci blew the NIOSH rules out of the water people are using cloth masks to protect themselves from Silicosis.
This useless cloth mask shit is causing way more problems than it is preventing. We will see in about 10 or 15 years how bad. If we live that long.

With election integrity being consistently a top issue for Republicans, it seems like in the mid-term future, FL is safe with active participation of its voters.

Doesn't mean that it will never change, just that the combination of the electorate in the state, their priorities, and the strength of their moves in the legislature are putting in place barriers that will be very difficult for Democrats to overcome.

Will it be the same in 2034? I'm not sure. It could massively swing on some new issue/event. But I think it's safe to say that through at least 2028, FL is going to stay ruby red. FL is a model for other states to mimic.

This meant I spent a week at home with my infectious wife. We both took the home tests. She got it and throughout the week at home I never got COVID. During the week, I did come in contact with her for meals (which I made), etc. All I did was limit my exposure to a short periods .. usually less that 2 minutes at a time.

The only caveat is avoid the Sex, Religion and Politics topics.

There is considerable evidence from Californian migrants that indicate the wealthier are leaving. That is a bit easier analysis because it comes from fed tax filing data from state to state.

I think you might underestimate salary inflation among the cubicle classes (well, former cubicle classes, with work from home being more common now) for jobs where employers actually have to compete for real talent. Gross pay in our industry in most cases is about 3x what it was in 2019. Ours has more than quadrupled. Mid level management and senior level software dudes are going to shoot right past that 200k.

I was once given advice (that I have followed) that when the interviewer offers you a cup of coffee, that you accept it. You don't have to drink all of it (and in fact you probably shouldn't), but you should accept it and taste it.

Coffee at the level of "mediocre" or better is dirt cheap and ubiquitous. If the coffee is actually bad, it means that the company doesn't get a fairly simple, cheap and routine basic thing right and it is probably an awful place to work because they don't care about the employees enough to even have mediocre coffee.

For office jobs, anyway.

I believe it and it is a great illustration. I am only still there to try to save the sweet flock that have been so starved and wounded by the leadership. I am a worship leader there for the past 8 years. I was sent to neutralize one of our matriarchs...and I may have succeeded. We will have our vote on 9/10 to disaffiliate. All 3 pastors are fighting for their lives it seems to keep our church in the UMC. Majority wants out. If the church does not disaffiliate, I will glad take my leave. I will not sit in a false church.

And the craziest part as someone who knows about this sort of thing is watching OSHA tell employees that it's perfectly fine for their employers to force them to wear N95 respirators all day except for when they are required to wear N95 respirators for brief periods of time and then they need annual pulmonary checks and fit testing before each use.

We'll have to add that to the prayer list. The CRC has gone through a bruising fight for the last two years because a church installed a "married" lesbian deacon and refused the denominational discipline. The clock ran out on the deacon's term, so the issue somewhat got punted, but this fight is far from over.

According to Reason Foundation in 2022, California's Public Employee (not teachers which is separate) is about $150 billion in the hole. Add another 60 billion for the Teachers. Nationwide, we are about 1.2 Trillion in the hole for public pensions and the funded ratio is down to about 75.5 percent.

State legislative districts are often gerrymandered and don't necessarily reflect the political will of the entire state. PA had a GOP state supermajority (or at least majority) too, didn't it? Statewide elections are different and lend themselves to cheating. To their credit, the state GOP in FL has done an amazing job at cleaning up the elections. They are the model for other states. But there will be another Democrap governor in FL, and everything good that DS did will be undone.

If you are being serious, stock up on taurine and check for other micronutrients that cats need. You can feed cats a diet of meat and table scraps but they need other nutrients or else they'll get sick. mice and rats would work in a pinch.

Doesn't really work that way Elric. When ideology of a party becomes nationalized, it makes it very difficult for candidates to separate themselves from the national party. Perfect example is during the runup to the Civil War. Effectively the Whig party disintegrated because slavery was so big an issue that the Northern and Southern wings could not bridge the gap. The Federalist party did likewise as Hamiltonian tax, borrow, and spend was not popular among the population so the Federalist party became NE regional first and then extinct. In the Whigs case, the Northern Whigs became adamantly anti slavery and the Southern Whigs became a rump faction of the Southern Democrat faction.

Ackshewallee, I think that the latest SAW movie, SAW X appears to be highly influenced by the whole COVID/faux science and medicine foofaraw.

In the trailer I saw, the SAW dude, who is dying of cancer goes to a clinic in Mexico city that has a wonderful new cure for brain cancer, which they guarantee will work.

So, SAW Dude does the surgery and procedure, and it turns out that nothing was done. The treatment was a scam to get his money and leave him to die.

Then SAW Dude goes all sawy on their asses.
