Sefton: sefton at cutjibnewsletter.com | Trump's Bond in Joke Fulton County Prosecution Set at $200,000; Forbidden to Engage in "Witness Intimidation"And then they'll put Trump in jail, pre-trial, claiming he violated the terms of his bail.Donald Trump must surrender to Georgia authorities for arrest and arraignment in his state 2020 election interference RICO case by Friday, but the conditions he must agree to in order to secure bail have already been decided. Prosecutors met with Trump's attorneys on Monday to discuss the specifics on the former president's surrender and the conditions of his release. The former president will be required to pay a $200,000 bond, and sign off on various requirements from the court in order to remain free. These include not committing any further crimes, appearing in court when required to, and refraining from making any "direct or indirect threat of any nature" against any co-defendant, unindicted co-conspirator, witness, or victim. The court also prohibits the former president from making a "direct or indirect threat of any nature against the community or to any property in the community." Crucially, prosecutors made a point to stipulate that these restrictions apply to "posts on social media or reposts of posts made by another individual on social media." Having agreed to this, will Trump be able to refrain from saying anything that could "indirectly" "intimidate" a witness? Which could be construed by an anti-Trump kangaroo court as including any negative statement at all, because that could scare a witness into thinking Dark MAGA Extremists will come lynch him? I don't know. While former President Donald Trump spoke to Fox Business Network's Larry Kudlow Thursday, former Attorney General Bill Barr told Neil Cavuto on Fox News, "No one should be surprised" that Trump has become completely wrapped up in the legal system due to his actions leading up to the Jan. 6 Capitol insurrection. "I resigned on December 14 because I thought that at that point the state votes were certified and that was the end of the legal process," Barr said, adding:I don't know if I agree that Trump crossed a line, at least not one that had not been repeatedly crossed by Democrats in the past, and in their illegal rigging of the 2020 election itself, mailing millions of ballots to unconfirmed addresses and even turning off the signature verification system that provided at least a pretense of attempting to weed out fraudulent votes. But certainly he stepped right on up to that line. And I'm only pointing that out to answer the question I posed above: Will Trump be able to restrain himself from stepping up to the line as far as "indirect" witness "intimidation"? And what will happen to the country if a Fulton County pissant judge orders a presidential contender to jail? If they want to find Trump to arrest him, one place they shouldn't bother looking is at any of the presidential debates. He indicated, in his typical, detiorating-mental-health all-caps way, that he won't be "DOING THE DEBATES," plural, meaning he's going to skip them all. At least, so it seems. Who knows what goes on in his head."Well, the fact he didn't drop things could lead to some to believe, and his people who defend him say, that he genuinely did feel that he was robbed and this was the good fight and the proper fight," Cavuto said. Barr responded, "Well, even if he did -- and I'm dubious about that -- but even if he did, that doesn't mean you can use illegal meaning to rectify it. If you think the bank is unfairly keeping your money, there are many things you can do to get it back; You can't go and rob the bank." Earlier in the interview, Barr said he thought both federal cases against Trump were legitimate. ![]() Former President Donald Trump will reportedly not attend the first Republican primary debate next week and will instead participate in an interview with Tucker Carlson. Trump has long hinted that he would not attend the debate and has bristled at the requirement that candidates sign a pledge to support the eventual nominee in order to participate. The New York Times, which first reported Trump's decision, interpreted the Carlson interview as a snub to Fox News, an outlet with which he has feuded since leaving office. Carlson, for his part, was fired from the network in the wake of a settlement with Dominion Voting Systems related to the network's coverage of the firm.I sure hope Tucker Carlson is up to the task of quizzing Trump seriously about his record and his failures and what plan he has to correct those going forward (spoiler: there is no plan), because Trump is attempting to run without answering any questions about these things. I know he sat for an interview with CNN but liberal outfits do not ask questions about conservative priorities, only about leftwing priorities. So unless Tucker Carlson bothers asking him about his support of Fauci and lockdowns and failure to drain the swamp -- indeed, far from draining the Swamp, he mostly nominated the Swamp -- we will never have any answers about these questions. But you know: Muh Ratings. Most important thing in running a country: getting the good ratings. The best ratings. Comments(Jump to bottom of comments)1

As to Barr? He's the one who oversaw the entire Justice department special investigation into Trump Russia collusion, and yet never seemed to find out it was all a PLOT OF THE DEMOCRATS. leaving aside all the other arguments about any past election, one thing is painfully true --
any country that actually wanted the population and government to all get along would not have an election system that a huge percentage people don't believe provides accurate results of the vote. if any country wanted to get along, especially a wealthy country with plenty of technology, that country would institute a system that is transparent, guarantees one-person-one-vote for eligible voters only, and provides a verifiable, auditable tally of votes within a reasonable time. The fact that this has not happens suggests that everyone should assume there is a reason and it is not good. Posted by: jc at August 21, 2023 06:26 PM (N1WXz) 21

I just don't see it happening, I can't picture it. His lead is too big, even with several months left before Super Tuesday. And Desantis and Ramaswamy keep stepping on their dicks, and none of the others are actual Republicans. What conceivable thing would have to happen to make Trump lose 1/3 of his support, and for the field to winnow down to just one of Desantis or Ramaswamy? That's $68 million dollars just to read the documents. OK, so he wins the presidency. He can't pardon himself for GA crimes. He also has to keep spending on lawyers...do you think he will pay himself? Nope. This why I think to help Trump, its better if he doesn't run. If he doesn't run Kemp can pardon him. I hope Trump didn't piss off Brian Kemp. (again you can fume about this, and I think GA GOP are kinda assholes but...facts is facts.) And then if someone else could win the presidency they can pardon him, too. NY...eh, its the weakest case. Or Trump can push all donations to lawyers, which he has been doing. And around the time the primaries are over his supporters will figure it out - he's going down for some counts. Fair or not. Posted by: Harun at August 21, 2023 06:35 PM (Cg63x) 73

Remember, when Trump tweeted he wouldn't be going to Biden's inauguration, Twitter construed that as "glorification of violence" that justified his permaban from the platform. Mark Steyn had a great post this morning about the divide between Republican voters and the GOP.
the base is trying to tell the worthless GOP establishment something important here: We dont think this is a normal election, and we cant see the point of pretending that it is. [while] the American right still talks about the justice system and the election campaign as if either term means what it does in functioning societies in my experience of Third World crapholes, you dont start criminalizing your political opposition unless youve already decided there arent going to be any election-night surprises. These are not normal times: in the years ahead, ever greater corruption will be necessary to constrain the peoples choices to the shriveled offerings of the Uniparty. So, if you reckon its bad now, wait till next time. GOP primary voters seem to get that at least. Posted by: Stephen Price Blair at August 21, 2023 06:37 PM (EXyHK) 89

The debate system was finally busted in the last cycle when moderators started openly helping the D candidate. Now the new tactic, as evidenced by Trump's CNN interview, will be to jump in the debate like some kind of avatar of Zeus to announce the R candidate's opinions are "wrong." I think a lot of it boils down to hope. People want to believe that the country is salvageable, that polls can still be reliable, that voting still can set the course for the country, and that reasoned discourse will win out. The further hope drifts away from people, the angrier they become. For some that anger is directed towards Trump: “If only he were smarter, more disciplined, etc.” They want to believe that it’s not over, so they blame Trump. For others, their anger is directed towards the State: “We can’t let them get away with what they’re doing to Trump.” They want to believe that if Trump can prevail then there is hope for the country. The bottom line, though, is that it’s over, our country has ended as we knew it. The best we can do is try to shore up our local and state governments and hang on. But the question of whether you support Trump or not is irrelevant at this point, barring some miracle cure of the election fixing in our large cities.

LA County AG Gascon - rigged against a popular, black, female, no nonsense Jackie Lacey, incumbent. I don't anticipate any actual Presidential elections in the future. The last one was in 2016. Everything after that is a sham. A question remains: given that control the outcome of elections going forward, why is the Uniparty so obsessed with getting Trump into court on charges, any charges, flimsy, ridiculous, doesn't matter. The usual answers are either, they want to make him the candidate to put on a big show of making him lose, or, they fear their control is not necessarily sufficient to ensure the outcome. Part of why I'd rather see someone other than Trump is because I don't think 2024 is going to be as good to Trump as 2020 was. He at least had the presidency in hand then and a flawed but defensible record all things considered. He has not been very efffective politically post-presidency. His subsequent mistreatment energizes voters on the right. But there aren't enough of us for that to work beyond the primaries. All this legal nonsense is likely to turn off enough voters in the general election that the Dems really won't have to cheat. They will, but it will be unnecessary. I know this is insulting but I can't help but think most of you are still thinking about how great it was November 8, 2016, and just wanting that magic again. But that magic is gone. we've run three elections since then. Trump is a drag on the ticket and in almost every race, down-ticket candidates like senate and house candidates get MORE votes than trump. You guys always claim that's just proof of fraud. How about entertaining the mere *possibility* that there are a good number of Republicans and Republican leaners who will vote for a "normal" candidate but absolutely will not vote for Trump? No. He does not. When it comes to how this game is going to play out, I've watched Donald Trump and all those who love him so, enough to know that the entire movement certainly refuses to know "what is up". This is going to be a show trial. A Randy Weaver kind of event. Yet we still have folks quoting law, and The Donald still digging in and lawyering up, as if any of that matters. As if he can somehow write a check, or make a speech, to change the plot. Like an episode of Matlock or Perry Mason. That's not how show trials work. History books are full of why. I blame his boys. He barely squeaked through the electoral college in 2016, then proceeded to lose every fight, election, and moment afterwards. He's arguably the biggest loser in modern political history, if only because Hillary, Romney, McCain, Kerry et. al lost ONCE and fucked off from presidential politics. Trump's lost three election cycles in a row now, and if he's nominated, we're up to four. Posted by: Theo at August 21, 2023 07:16 PM (0p/Tu) 292
I think the worst thing will happen: America shrugs and accepts it. This is a mistake to keep thinking that Trump is so popular that he will inspire a revolution. Do not confuse your own feelings for the feelings of the majority.
Why go fight for a dude that watched his re-election get rigged, in real time, and then golf the next day ? Then be quiet for two weeks ? The Trump Folks here remind me of Boomers that get really, really into Sports. They care more than the players, and get really pissed when the dudes or chics on the field don't "care" enough. 2016 was a fluke. You had a horrible candidate in Hilary combined with a presumption that it would be a cake walk for her. Really schizophrenic in that aspect. Everyone said she wll win easily a trillion times so she didn’t really lift a finger to win. Believed her own deadlines.
And because she is an odious hag, enough people in 3 states decided, what the hell Trump can’t be this bad and voted for him because the alternative was so awful. And so he won. It was a perfect storm, lightning in a bottle. It’s not happening again. Ever. But that’s shitbis not ever happening again. Posted by: Montec at August 21, 2023 07:17 PM (2MNmu) 299

That will NOT happen as a direct result of a Trump win in 2024. Lets make pretend that Trump wins. The Left goes kinetic, lots of fire and bloodshed. Right, it's important to thoroughly quiz Trump and hold him accountable.
At the same time as Democrat candidates like Biden are allowed to campaign from their basement and are never held accountable by the press, getting both the questions and the answers in advance for their interviews. But what if Carlson isn't sufficiently tough on Trump? This is the real issue. Posted by: PG at August 21, 2023 07:32 PM (84jHt) 376
Big difference between the "stolen election" crap Trump keeps pushing (which he has yet to explain in any detail) and election irregularities like mail
In ballots, voter roll issues, usurping of legislative authority, etc. Along with his pick to head the GOP this ensures the status quo from the last election in which he lost to Biden. "55 Trump is not doing the debates because of the requirement to support whoever won the nomination."
Jeb, Kasich, etc. signed that loyalty pledge in 2016 and proceeded to not support Trump once he won the primary. There's zero reason for any of the candidates to play by the RNC rules when the rules are not equally enforced. "Why exactly would Brian Kemp steal 2020 from his own party's president?" Same reason a record number of (r)s retired in 2018 to hand the House to Pelosi on a silver platter after working overtime with Paul Ryan to block Trump's agenda save for tax cuts. Kemp is the southern state equivalent of former "highest approval rating in the nation" Governor Charlie Baker (r) in Massachusetts. 1. SHUT UP. 2. Roll over. 3. DIE. 4. Take an oath of absolute loyalty to Mr. Trump. Posted by: Catch Thirty-Thr33 at August 21, 2023 09:47 PM (lE1L7) 439
If I know one thing, it’s that tomorrow the sun will rise and like clock work David Reaboi, Pedro Gonzalez, Jordan Schachtel, and now Ace will continue their strawman bashing against “Trump cultists that worship every word Trump says like God.”

What's hilarious here is that the likelihood of either Trump or Biden being in the '24 election is almost nil.

Recently I’ve been mistaking this for the Powerline blog. You don’t want Trump, Ace. Sure. But don’t mimic the limp dickery of professional Republicans. On this issue there’s not as much daylight between you and them as you realize.

I like DeSantis and am sick and tired of Trump and his BS about Ron. Trump hired Pence, Barr,Wray,Sessions, Cohen, Daniels, Scaramouchi, and many more losers. He got rid of all his supporters after he took office. Brannon, Preibus, etc. and replaced them with RINO losers. He praised Paul Ryan and gave MCConnell’s wife a job. He will never win the general election. Never built the wall and he added to the swamp.

Boy, those are some strong magic markers you're sniffing there, Theo. You're either a leftwing troll, paid hack or just a crap stirrer. Whichever it is, we all see through you. Posted by: Tracy at August 21, 2023 10:36 PM (8G2gV) 447
Get a grip ACE, these are primary debates, within the same party, with a bunch of candidates that do not have a chance.

I am sad that after all these years coming to this site every day, to find that I am not in tune with most of you folks here. Ace hates Trump and apparently so do most of you. He will win the nomination. Who knows about the general election because we are fed such gaslighting bullshit constantly and nothing has been done to fix election rigging. What is happening to Trump is destroying this country—it is no longer about him. And yet you folks prefer to hate him for being uncouth. Many Americans back Trump, as do I. I am sorry to be so out of sync with this site.

Trump is a 75+ million vote Republican.
Desantis was a 60 million vote Republican before he committed political seppuku with his "Listless vessels" remark. Desantis is now a 30 million vote Republican because most Republican voters will support a 3rd party candidate if the GOPe somehow installs him as the nominee. Ace and the other NeverTrumpers here do not understand the working class voters that support Trump. They do not understand the millions of people that have never had representation before Trump. Wow. This place has become a halfway house into the Bulwark. Sad. Gave me a lot of good laughs over the years and some keen insights. But Trump flushes out all hidden things of the heart I guess.

The reason Trump and his underlings have failed time and time again is because of the complete reality disconnect exhibited here. "Desantis is now a 30 million vote Republican because most Republican voters will support a 3rd party candidate if the GOPe somehow installs him as the nominee." "They do not understand the millions of people that have never had representation before Trump. " A large majority of the "people" hate Donald Trump. Working-class voters have rejected him over and over again, and your response is to call them vermin and declare that they don't matter. Posted by: Theo at August 21, 2023 11:31 PM (ES8R5) 453

Yes, Kemp won re-election, which is a superior strategy to Trump's "lose, then complain it was rigged and use that to raise hundreds of millions of dollars that I then embezzle." Of course, being a bootlicker, you can't acknowledge anything objective like election results. Having humiliatingly lost over and over again on account of regular people rejecting you in elections, you have to conjure up invisible fights and say that those matter more than anything tangible. That way, you can say that Trump is winning them and Kemp is losing them. Posted by: Theo at August 21, 2023 11:34 PM (ES8R5) 454
As one person put it, Trump is:
"a... leader whose fanatical followers are unable to admit his errors; indeed, they see him as incapable of error, and their support for him, in the absence of actual accomplishments, rests purely on '‘They’re’ all against him! He’s a champion of us, but ‘they’ sabotaged him from day one. His misfortunes are never due to his own actions.'" Go ahead and tell me that doesn't describe Trump bootlicking to a T. Posted by: Theo at August 21, 2023 11:36 PM (ES8R5) 455
After 4 terrible years of Joke Biden's administration, the American voting public will damn well expect Joke Biden to show up to a debate and at least attempt to defend his policies and vision going forward. If Joke Biden declares he won't participate, his cratering poll numbers will crash through the basement floor.
He has to show up for the debates or even his cheat-machine can't get him in shouting distance of delivering him electoral "victory". The conservative Republican base, on the other hand, does not mind if Trump skips the idiotic primary debates. We absolutely applaud him for it. Now do you see the difference? Posted by: Bach in Black at August 21, 2023 11:44 PM (dBoDT) 456
Some think that Trump is the leader of "The MAGA Vote"... In reality, Trump is our chosen tool to wrest back the Party and the Country from the Tammany Hall elites that work in unison with the left.
Trump is misunderstood by leftists and the driveable right, because Trump fights. Even when he negotiates a compromise, he's playing to win. The moral slurry in the RNC can not fathom such tactics. De Santis is lost and out of his depth with his Hillaryesque pronouncements. Newsom took a State with a superavit and promptly turned that into a major deficit. Not to mention his penchant for booze and nose-candy... The fact is that PDJT has a large advantage over the political pretenders hired by the donor class. Trump already got demolished by Biden('s campaign team) once before. "Biden's so bad, we can't lose to him!" In 2022, Biden's endorsed candidates slaughtered Trump's. Utter annihilation as one Trump candidate after another was wiped out. The Biden wing of American politics has eviscerated Trump's wing twice in a row, the second time under what should have been an easy lay-up for the GOP. But things will be different in 2024. I think you're on to something, my good man. The Demonrats have NOTHING to put forward in the way of a presidential contender in 2024. Besides that, it's pure fantasy that they'll be running someone other than Joke Biden or Acid-Tripping Harris at the top of the ticket. They're stuck with one or the other. And the one is worse than the other. We, on the other hand, are NOT going to fuck up and run a GOPe stooge like DeSantis. We have a champion in Trump.
