Another Disney Woke Disaster Is Brewing as Bratty, Snotty Star of Snow White Can't Stop Ripping the Original Classic
The film was called "Walt's Folly" before its release because it was widely believed that the public would never pay to see a full-length animation. At most, they'd appreciate the cartoon shorts that ran before real movies.
But Walt Disney made Snow White anyway -- and Snow White made Walt Disney. Given that it's the 100th anniversary of the founding of Walt Disney studios, you'd think they'd pay attention to their "talent" bad-mouthing Walt Disney's big first triumph. But apparently Woke Disney World is all about tearing down the golden past to make way for a shit future, because they sent this perfect little idiot out into the world to talk about how much she hated Snow White and how Prince Charming was a "stalker." The message that "women don't need no men" is especially present in revisionist fairy tale stories. There was a live action movie a couple of years ago about a Badass Girlboss Princess who don't need no knight to save her. This trope is now so common it is mocked as a tired, stale cliche: "This princess (snaps fingers) saves herself!" Yes, they all do now, don't they? What's different about this particular girlboss political lesbian character? Disney story consultants: What would you say you do here?
She added: 'There was a time when Disney actors were media trained and were thoughtful about the impact of their words, whilst sticking to key messaging about the films, but it seems with this total rewrite of Snow White, picturing her as a "boss girl" has gone to the heads of their stars. Disney will need to be careful with how they have portrayed Snow White and what they do and don't allow their actors to say about it going forwards. They simply cannot repeat the same mistakes and allow their actors to be so vocal in their own personal opinions during promotions. It can have a huge impact on ticket sales, especially with the amount of negative backlash so early in the promo trail.' Carla continued: 'They need to get the key messaging and strong selling point into a brief for the cast of the film and ensure they stick to it. If they don't, it's a disaster waiting to happen and the backlash will keep growing. It's possibly a good idea to get Rachel to clarify what she meant and highlight it was her own personal opinion, not a slight on women,' she advised. 'They should highlight the important message that it's okay to be who you want to be. After all, Disney has been famously telling us that they're the place where "dreams do come true" and have never actually defined what those dreams should be. Neither should their actors.' PR expert Nick Ede agrees and told DailyMail.com that perhaps Rachel 'isn't the best person to promote the film' - despite playing the main character. 'Rachel is a big-named star playing one of the world's most famous fairytale characters immortalized by Disney, but instead of taking the lead of The Little Mermaid's Halle Bailey and embracing her role, Rachel has actively chosen to spoil the narrative and express the new direction she has taken Snow White in,' Nick claimed. 'This is by no means a wrong move and Snow White, and other stories, if they were written today would have very different nuances and narratives but the fact that she's actively being negative about the source material and laughing off the old Disney film and the fairytale makes her look too eager to show off the new version and shows little or no respect for the previous version and other iterations. 'I am sure Disney executives must be having crisis talks and thinking perhaps their new Snow White isn't the best person to promote the film and ensure it is a box office success,' Nick predicted. ... The backlash occurred after several videos of Rachel speaking negatively about the original film in various interviews last year resurfaced online, where she said of her version of the character: 'She's not going to be saved by the prince and she's not going to be dreaming about true love.' There's a big focus on her love story with a guy who literally stalks her. Weird! Weird! So we didn't do that this time. [She further admitted] in a separate interview that she was 'terrified' when she went on a Snow White ride at Disney World. 'I was scared of the original version. I think I watched it once and never picked it up again. I'm being so serious,' she claimed. 'I watched it once, and then I went on the ride in Disney World, which was called Snow White's Scary Adventures. Doesn't sound like something a little kid would like. I was terrified of it, never revisited Snow White again.'After that, she went on to the late night show of Disney-owned propaganda mouthpiece Jimmy Kimmel, and contradicted everything she had said previously, claiming she's a big fan of the original. She's also playing the Victim Card.
After TikTok and Twitter blew up with a negative response, Rachel seemingly responded to the backlash and tweeted on Friday, August 11: 'I hope the world becomes kinder.' A few hours later, she added: 'I love you very much. Forever and ever. Remember to be kind. Treat each other with patience and empathy. Remember that you are loved unconditionally, no matter your mistakes, no matter your misunderstandings. You deserve it. You deserve love. You deserve to live without fear.' And, in case you've forgotten: Disney decided it was insensitive to cast dwarfs as dwarfs, and made all the "dwarfs" normal-height people, except for one. So they denied a paycheck to actors who don't usually get a lot of work, in the name of wokeness. And pictures of this gang of woke misfits circulated online. Disney lied and claimed these weren't pictures from the movie. They were. In some cases, stand-ins were wearing the awful costumes, rather than the actors themselves, but these pictures were right from the set of the movie.

Snow White had an electric effect on cinema when it was released in 1937. I read descriptions of people waiting on line to see the movie, and it reminded me of the reception that Star Wars received in 1977.

I really think that most advertising is unsupported by much in the way of actual rigorous studies in terms of impacts. I'm seeing something similar now with people pulling out a study saying that the SAG strike, where actors aren't promoting films, is costing them box office, namely that the new TMNT movie opened 15% lower than it could have.
That feels statistically insignificant (it's not 5%, but we're not that far off, especially considering the squishy nature of math in marketing) while arguing up a counterfactual. The idea that Seth Rogan appearing on Kimmel would have led to an extra $12 million or so seems...specious. I mean, have you heard that guy? He sounds like a fucking braindead stoner (because he is). How does his presence help the marketing?

Disney's brand is increasingly poison. Even worse than it was for Bud Light, though, is that it appears to be more apathy and expectation of poor quality and offensive treatment of the material. There is no more controversy, there's just an expectation that it will be shit.
That is extremely dangerous for the company. The expectation that the new product - whatever it is - is going to suck leads to brand death.

45 days is the new typical window from theatrical to streaming. Universal does it within 30 days now. At this point, the quickness from theater to streaming doesn't matter much except in some smaller, pocket cases, like a Sound of Freedom which is outside of normal distribution channels.

I saw The Lion King with my daughter years ago, and I thought it was way too woke. (I don't remember why, it just was. This was before the term was coined but it was Lefty with Lefty messages.)
So from there on I screened her movies and we would only watch the older disney. Cinderella was her favorite and she would make me act it out over and over (I was always the secondary role - the Donkey, the pumpkin, the mice,... but I did get to be Prince Charming for a bit.)
We also did Snow White. Her second favorite was Barber of Seville.

I have a friend who has an imdb page. Like he has a real job, too, but he's done some commercials and played a few minor roles in movies. He's a SAG member.
The pressure HE gets to "use his platform for good" is a lot. And like... again, no one would recognize his name. I don't even think he has a twitter.

I'll admit, I've done a couple of multi day Disneyland trips... stay in the Hotel, drink at Downtown Disney, do the parks... hang at the pools. It's nice because you don't have to try to fit everything in ONE DAY.
Its fun for about 3 days... but you won't catch me in Disney Merch.

Perhaps that's their problem, digging a 500m dollar hole for every turd they produce. I count 0 explosions or car chase scenes in snow white, and the 7 homeless xeyselves from Portland couldn't have cost very much.
Is it all the CGI then? Wasn't CGI supposed to be cheaper than actually doing stuff?
Or maybe they felt the need for yet another 150m marketing campaign for one of the most well known classics of all time.
If I were CEO of nearly any company in existence today I would axe the marketing budget by 50pct. Just an excuse for the suits to hobknob at fancy restaurants while blowing 3 million dollars for a single ad spot that will never pay for itself

No, almost none of them are women. When I was in school the young lady teachers were friendly and nice to the kids and the older ones were more businesslike but all right. They all taught the subject in the lesson plan and did it pretty well.
Teachers we have now are mostly zealots and cultists.

Waiting for CBD to feature Tyrus Wong on the art thread . He did a lot of the Bambi art and his regular paintings are very good and obviously influence by his Chinese heritage. Very soothing .

Eh, she's got the type of face you see a lot of in Hollywood.
She's got an unusual face that's almost as ugly as it is beautiful depending on the angle and her make-up.
That's what makes her "a star". She's easy to identify on screen and stands out in a crowd.

There is an argument that boys and girls play much differently, boys get into characters, learn everything about the "world" the characters exist in, and try to stay in character when playing in that "world"
Girls try to change the character into things they want to do, and have internalized.
This is supposed to be the difference between "women's" handling of fiction and stories, and men's. It is like boys want to immerse themselves in baseball stats and live them every day, and girls want to change the sport into volleyball and have long time outs and have time for shopping for neat uniforms.

One might look in a dictionary of the rough time of original publication, and find that Fair was defined as:

Cinderfella is a non-binary, sex-addicted hobo who tries out to become a spokesmodel for some light beer company, but her evil stepsisters release her confidential medical information and psychiatric reports to the Epoch Times thus everyone learns about her attraction to cantaloupe. The driverless Pumpkin carriage provided by Tesla malfunctions and starts a fire killing the cloned mice/horses. The ending goes out of control when the other ball attendees pour pigs blood on Cinderfella and instead of freaking out..."he" gets sexually aroused. It's a winner!!!!

I hate to think what is going to happen to those kids being forced to go against their nature when they finally realize what their parents who we're supposed to love and care for them have ruined any chance of their having a successful r3lationship as an adult.
