The Morning Report — 8/18/23

samkabuki.jpg

Good morning, kids. Yesterday's editorial brought a lot of heated discussion, especially towards the tail end and after the art thread was posted. The gravamen of my disquisition is that for people to agree that America as founded, or at least the last vestiges of same were snuffed out in the wake of the 2020 election theft yet still engage in the same sort of retail party politics as if it's business as usual is just plain schizophrenic.

At the heart of this is the divide between those who stand by Donald Trump as a candidate out of a sense of misguided loyalty and those who think it's time to move on to someone else, primarily Ron DeSantis as a candidate. You have to put that out of your mind and most especially the notion that there is going to be a free and fair election come November of next year. It's not going to happen.

The most optimistic assessment I can make is that there is a slight chance that whoever is the nominee will somehow miraculously overcome the now institutionalized fraud courtesy of the 2020 lockdowns and barely eke out a win, that eventually does survive a challenge in SCOTUS. But, given what is at stake and the players involved, you can bet your ass that they will not allow that to happen. So this bickering about loyalty to Trump or ditching him for his failures and flaws in favor of DeSantis to me is pointless.

And to be fair, Trump does himself absolutely no favors, either as a candidate in a kabuki theater production of either The Producers or Bananas or even as someone who you want to get behind as a leader of a movement.

After being indicted at the start of the week on 13 felony counts in Fulton County related to his alleged efforts to overturn the results of the 2020 presidential election, Trump said on social media that he was going to be releasing a “detailed but irrefutable” report on alleged election fraud “which took place in Georgia.”

“Based on the results of this CONCLUSIVE Report, all charges should be dropped against me & others – There will be a complete EXONERATION!” Trump stated, adding that prosecutors should go after those who allegedly rigged the election.

However, Trump’s lawyers pled with him to not hold the event because it could be used against him in his case. One of his former White House lawyers warned it could lead to an obstruction charge because it could be seen as trying to taint the jury pool.

“Rather than releasing the Report on the Rigged & Stolen Georgia 2020 Presidential Election on Monday, my lawyers would prefer putting this, I believe, Irrefutable & Overwhelming evidence of Election Fraud & Irregularities in formal Legal Filings as we fight to dismiss this disgraceful Indictment by a publicity & campaign finance seeking D.A., who sadly presides over a record breaking Murder & Violent Crime area, Atlanta,” Trump wrote on social media. “Therefore, the News Conference is no longer necessary!”

Ugh. Just fucking ugh. As old Rummy himself once quipped, “You go to war with the army you have, not the army you might want or wish to have at a later time.”

For better or worse, instead of a Ghandi or MLK or dare I say Christ, we have le mauvais homme orange. And I have a nasty suspicion that even Trump doesn't quite get the nature of the situation he finds himself in. He certainly didn't with his horrendous staffing choices. While you can chalk that up to sabotage or perhaps a naivete about who and what dwells in D.C. and their loyalties, how the hell after taking more knives to the rear than Julius Caesar joining in with the O'Jays on "Backstabbers," does he support Ronna Romney McDaniel to chair the RNC?

He better wake up and smell the coffee because as he goes so goes the rest of us. And that has zero to do with elections and everything to do with gulags. That admonition and warning is not just for him but for every other candidate (of which only two others strike me as legit), GOP politician and pundit/commentator out there. Okay, stop laughing.

This is not a game anymore. It's deadly serious. It's nice to see pundits and such writing articles that declare the charges brought against Trump are so ridiculous and baseless that they'll be laughed out of court. But for them to not understand that the anti-American evil in the very act of bringing those baseless, nakedly political charges in the first place is a tell. With judges like this Tanya Chutkan, along with Amy Berman Jackson, Beryl Howell and the horrendous Emmet Sullivan and a jury pool that will eagerly go along to convict or will otherwise be helped by cadres of Antifarians who know where they live to get their minds right, who'll have the last laugh?

Trump is going to prison. Quite possibly death row. Make no mistake. Then what?

Let us assume President Trump isn’t thrown in prison, left-wing Secretaries of State allow him on the ballot, and the Democrats do not successfully “fortify” the election. In that situation, Donald Trump wins in 2024 in an electoral landslide. Even so, in that case, I believe we will see widespread political violence from the Left that will far surpass in size and scope the George Floyd riots of 2020.

The Left is deeply afraid of President Trump. They are also in charge of tremendous financial resources. The leadership of virtually every institution in American life from Wall Street to the woke military despises ordinary Americans and the MAGA movement. The Biden regime would be more than happy to sic their communist paramilitaries, like ANTIFA, on the heartland.

This is a dangerous possibility and one that all patriotic Americans need to be ready for.

If Biden claims another stolen election victory it will mean political repression orders of magnitude greater than what we are seeing now. If Trump wins, the entire American liberal establishment will go on the warpath.

President Trump and his team walk a narrow tight rope.

But they do have options. For one, the Trump campaign should start now by laying the groundwork for widespread pro-Trump rallies and protests if the President is unjustly imprisoned. The trucker rally in Canada is the model. At its height, the Canadian government nearly imploded in the face of this public pressure.

President Trump could easily capture that energy. But he shouldn’t just aim to motivate truckers. The American rail networks are even more vulnerable to a widespread strike. The rail companies treat their employees like serfs and the federal government won’t even allow them to strike for better wages. President Trump should start now by promising to support our tough and unheralded rail workers in receiving the wage increases, health benefits, and vacation days they deserve.

When the moment comes, IF President Trump is thrown in jail by our corrupt regime or is denied his rightful election victory, the moment will be perfect for a strike. The Biden regime believes that by controlling the nation’s financial sectors and federal law enforcement agencies that they are all-powerful.

They need to be taught a lesson. A widespread coordinated rail strike and trucker protest could easily bring the nation’s economy to a screeching halt. America’s transport networks are a critical vulnerability for the Biden regime. Our leaders hate the people who work in these industries but also need them to keep showing up in order to keep the money flowing.

Any protest against the liberal totalitarians of the Biden regime comes with risks. Federal agents will attempt to infiltrate such protests to stage provocations and false flags. Organizers of such protest activity will be censored by the major social media companies at the behest of the deep state.

The federal government would be more than happy to throw pro-Trump protestors in prison or even use violence against them. In light of these considerations, patriotic Trump defenders should utilize the tactics of the pro-democracy protests in Hong Kong against the Communist Party in China. These patriots should take measures to confuse facial recognition software and video recording and they should turn off cellular communication devices while protesting. They should also use cash instead of credit cards to pay for goods purchased in or around a protest.

Beyond encouraging protests and a transport strike, President Trump should also consider simply refusing to go along with these corrupt prosecutions. This is a high stakes option but it has the benefit of putting the Biden regime in an uncomfortable position. If President Trump refused to show up to court, decrying these legal prosecutions as illegitimate (which they are), he will force the deep state either to give up their witch hunt or to use force to make President Trump submit.

Are they really willing to take such a drastic step?

There are some Pollyanna-ish undertones to this essay but the thrust of the piece is important. Considering who and what the Left is, what they have already done, what they are capable of, and considering they are now within a red nether hair's breadth of finally imposing the thousand-year Robert Reichhhhhhhhhhhh-uh on us, what do you think?

Have a good weekend. See you tomorrow for the hobby thread. Be there. Aloha.

Typical. And so utterly predictable.

I wonder what DeSantis will do. Publicly disavow Mitchell? Disavow him in public but take his money in private? Say nothing at all?

You know which way I bet.

He probably doesn’t comprehend fully what he’s up against; he probably thinks this is all politics as usual but just amped up to eleventy. BUT… the way the left is reacting to him like some feral animal makes it clear to me that what he’s done in the past and wants to do in the future is a threat to them…. Which means he’s the only sane choice on our side; really all the other “candidates” should rally around him. That they don’t is telling because you know and I know: the GOP primary is over already. Why we even talk about other candidates confuses me; they don’t matter and won’t win.

As JJ pointed out, you fight with the army you have. I’m quite sure George Patton has his flaws, but he was a damn good general…

43 To adopt a phrase from the political philosopher Claude Lefort, there is no truly democratic system absent “legibility,” by which he meant that those portions of the population remote from the political-cultural apices are nevertheless “capable of understanding the political game.” The kind of well-heeled cultural progressivism which now sets the moral tone and discursive rules in many Western states, by its very nature, compromises this legibility, and widens the gap between elites and non-elites which it is the goal of a functional democracy to minimize.

I Saw Moral Tones and Discursive Rules open for Earth Wind and Fire the the Nola Jazz Fest in 1982.

There are only two explanations I can think of for why Trump would do this:
1. He's a dog with a bone and he will demonstrate the obvious fraud come hell or high water, and damn the consequences
2. He knows the fix is in, he knows that he's a marked man, and he sees his only shot as creating enough popular outage and stoking the fires to the point where the other side blinks in whatever manner they can come up with that permits some degree of face-saving

It really could be either. In either case, his lawyers will be terrified and furious. If it's the latter, though, I think Trump is right. This isn't an exercise in law or justice, it's a different kind of battle and the rulebook has to be discarded.

74 President Trump should start now by promising to support our tough and unheralded rail workers in receiving the wage increases, health benefits, and vacation days they deserve.

++++
It's a clever idea, but I have serious questions as to whether it could possibly happen. Even if the unionized railroad and truck workers *wanted* to strike, their union sure as shit will not and will not cooperate. If they walk off the job *without* the union, then they have no protection and they probably won't do it.

The problem with lawyers is they tend to only look at challenges through the lens of "The Law." (NOT the Constitution!)

Thus, they can only think in terms of how they can use "The Law" to support their case while undercutting their opponents' case.

When "The Law" is no longer operational, they flounder and flail without a clue how to proceed.

Right now the Marxists are running the table and they don't see any meaningful opposition now or in the future. We have 'opposition ' that is Democrat Lite, on a good day. On most days the GOPe assumes the position that suits their Dem colleagues.
The trucker and rail work stoppage is a peaceful, non violent way to give the Freedom Caucus and Trump an opportunity to sue for better terms.
Currently the cultural, economic and political elevator only goes in one direction.

82 The Left is deeply afraid of President Trump.
-------
This is ridiculous, and reveals a near total misapprehension of this entire situation by whoever says that kind of thing.

The left has no fear of him, nor should they. from the moment he beat Hill Dawg, he was just a pig in the Party's poke. They easily contained him. The GOP faction stymied his entire agenda in Congress, while the Dem faction hamstrung him with nonstop investigations. He was isolated and sidelined with alacrity, before they deposed him in a coup.

If he, or any outsider, overcomes the staggering odds and somehow wins another 'election,' this will be repeated. Or they'll just quit wasting time, and shoot the guy. Who's going to question it, at this point?

None of this was ever about fear of a bombastic billionaire dilettante. It was about fear of *us.* The Party thought they had this country completely sewn up. When he chewed up and spit out all their candidates from Jeb to Hillary, they realized they'd overestimated the degree of control they held.

Everything since then has been about putting us in our places and demonstrating their absolute power to the restive masses.

Josiah Lippincott is a fool if he truly believes this. We already did a version of this called Lockdown 2020, and it made the enemy even more powerful while it destroyed the middle class.

Shutting down transportation vectors shuts down supply chains, raising already astronomic prices to Infinity and Beyond. The FUSA has just added 15 million savages into this country in the past few years and credit card debt is at a level never seen before.

And Josiah wants to shock the system again when we know exactly how it would turn out since we just ran this play a couple years ago when the economy was the best it ever was?

The Left is deeply afraid of President Trump. They are also in charge of tremendous financial resources. The leadership of virtually every institution in American life from Wall Street to the woke military despises ordinary Americans and the MAGA movement. The Biden regime would be more than happy to sic their communist paramilitaries, like ANTIFA, on the heartland.

True. Almost.

The Left has no fear of Trump. They have him sewn up and contained. Even if he gets into office, they *still* have him sewn up and contained thanks to rampant insubordination, opposition cabals, Uniparty spoilers in Congress, etc. Trump himself doesn't matter.

Popular resentment and rage is a different story. As with everything at this scale, however, it is all about symbols and Trump the man is the symbol for Popular Resentment the condition. And in a scenario like the this person is envisioning, the crackdown will be broad and deep and the prisons emptied of criminals will be filled with dissidents.

Trump campaign attorney Rudy Giuliani cited another figure from Just Facts’ study in a November 2020 hearing before the Arizona legislature. 103 56 There are only two explanations I can think of for why Trump would do this:
Posted by: Joe Mannix (Not a cop!)

It's not #1 because no one has been able to prove significant fraud. It doesn't matter that you know in your heart that there was. Doesn't matter that the system is rigged to hide evidence of fraud. He can't prove it under the rules of the game. Trump - and Syndney Powell, Rudy Guiliani, and the MyPillow guy - have promised and promised and promised proof of fraud and they've proved nothing. How much longer are we going to allow ourselves to believe these promises?

No simultaneous closing of vote counting centers in 6 states due to a backed up toilet somewhere in Fulton County? No massive numbers of mail-in ballots with little to no chain of custody?

It doesn't matter what you know to be true. What matters is what you can prove to be true to the people who decide elections. And you cannot prove fraud to those people. You are incapable of doing it. Is that fair? No, but as I'm sure you've said before, life isn't fair.

Because you can't prove fraud, Trump cannot win the general election. In your heart you know this, which is why the next step is to say some variation on "well the whole system is rigged so no Republican can win so we might as well go with Trump."

176 For me, the problem at this point is that avenues or mechanisms of proof have all been closed off.

The election was obviously hinkey as hell - the six state stop, the absence of election controls, the cutting off of poll observers, the late-night ballot dumps from suspicious precincts, the total inversion of "bellwether counties," illegal ballot harvesting and muling, etc. Statistically, the fraud was obvious and the amount of circumstantial evidence alone would get a conviction for *anything* else - like, say, a major financial crime.

But the paper trails have been destroyed - many of them prematurely. Evidence has been erased essentially across the board. Anyone trying to discuss it seriously is arrested. The courts throw out the cases 100% of the time. The SCOTUS refused to even consider it. The election machinery firms went to ground.

There are no avenues of proof left and even if there were, the courts would continue to refuse to hear it. Masturbatin' Pete is right on this in this respect: from a standpoint of law, the fraud will *never* be "proven." Which is why I think Trump is going for door #2 in my comment at 56.

182 A rail strike?? Egads!

The biggest villian in the conventional "wisdom" is Nrfolk Southern. What is the news regarding them?

"BLET and Norfolk Southern reach deal on engineer paid sick leave

ATLANTA and INDEPENDENCE, Ohio, May 18, 2023 /PRNewswire/ -- The Brotherhood of Locomotive Engineers and Trainmen (BLET) and Norfolk Southern Corporation (NYSE:NSC) announced Thursday that they have reached an agreement to provide up to seven paid sick days per year to BLET members. The agreement will provide Norfolk Southern engineers with five new days of paid sick leave per year while also offering them the flexibility to use up to two additional days of existing paid time off as sick leave."

Trump went to East Palestine with relief supplies. The Democrats under Nancy Pelosi forced the union back to work. The Democrats sent Mayor Pete. Biden sat on the beach.

Clearly Trump has a better hand, but fomenting a rail strike is foolish. That would hurt the voters and the general public.

One month would be the opener, and nothing would change. Maybe six months. Or a year. That can't be done all at once, so you're probably looking at various rounds of it, like we sometimes see in Latin America. And that all, of course, presupposes enough participation and that is not something I think we can take for granted - especially because most of the workforce would be fired during the first round.

How do you handle a situation like that, when the government wants those documents? Any lawyer will tell you "you tell the government that you have the documents, but you're going to contest the subpoena." Trump moved boxes around and lied to his lawyers. Per US News and World Report, a car loan for a new car with good credit is averaging about 12.87% right now. That's high - really high.

Prime rate is 5.5%. The five-year Treasury rate is about 4.5%. Depreciation has to be offset, too, of course - if the lender has to repossess, he's probably not going to be made whole.

Historically, this would imply a good-credit auto loan rate of closer to 9% or 10% - but money isn't free anymore, and car loans are always a riskier exercise. The premium is getting to be high.

Your first paragraph, where you say that "there is no forum for proving fraud" makes the second paragraph moot. It didn't matter how brilliant or organized his legal team was after the election.

His argument that the election was stolen was *never* going to be heard in a court of law. Nor would any remedy be forthcoming. SCOTUS put the final nail in that coffin.

245 Good morning JJ. Interesting article that has me shaking my head at parts and nodding at others.
My loyalty to President Trump is not misguided. And my righteos fury over 2020 has everything to do with what is fair and just. We, the American people, had our future as a great nation stolen from us. You don't "move on" from that kind of thing, especially when your own party took part in that steal.
For decades, the G.O.P. has pushed the 50-50 Nation LIE to cover for their failed campaign promises and willing complicity with their "good friends across the aisle" to foist ruinious progressivism onto our nation. It was their constant excuse for fucking us over time and again, while they gave us condescending smiles. Trust me, we in Middle America hate them passionately, yet they know it and don't care because come hell or high water, they will get their way, honest elections be damned.
And sense we don't have a real say in what happens and our votes don't matter, then we will burn their party down. It's not just our only option, it's the position the Republicans put us in through their actions and inactions. 2020 will not be forgotten or forgiven.
This is our hill.

265 TGIF! Already mentioned/discussed?

"On Monday, Hawaiian governor Josh Green announced that his administration was considering acquiring properties in the seaside resort town of Lahaina that had been destroyed by the recent wildfires.

"I'm already thinking of ways for the state to acquire that land so that we can put it into workforce housing, to put it back into families, or make it open spaces in perpetuity as a memorial to the people who were lost," Green said while standing amongst the rubble.

On Monday he said this, when the bodies of only ~ 5 of the 1300+ missing had been identified. After news of Hawaii state actors causing this fire to rage and kill by not activating the alert system, not releasing additional water (until too late), and sending kids home from school early that morning when the power was shut down (mostly kids missing, likely dead).

273 One month would be the opener, and nothing would change. Maybe six months. Or a year. That can't be done all at once, so you're probably looking at various rounds of it, like we sometimes see in Latin America. And that all, of course, presupposes enough participation and that is not something I think we can take for granted - especially because most of the workforce would be fired during the first round.

287 The overlooked thing here is that the Dems had a dirty tricks destruction plan in place for anyone who became the candidate against Hillary. Remember the whole "Obama wasn't born in America"? It was put out there by the Clintons in the primary and somehow ended up hung on the necks of the Republicans several times. They already had a set up to investigate Cruz and Rubio for being Castro sympathizers - which made it really weird when Obama cozied up to the Castros. To this day, Tina Fey's impersonations of Sarah Palin is presented as the real Palin. Romney was openly set up by Obama and the debate moderators and he never even called them out for their actions.
Trump actually fought back and exposed the corruption and depths of what has been going on for years. The FBI and DoJ didn't suddenly become politicized.... Trump did the unexpected and refused to cave and be owned by them. Why does he relish the current legal fight? Because he is again exposing the corruption of the DoJ.
I admit, I've got reservations about Trump running again, but when I look at the other 7 declared candidates, I don't see one with the fortitude to face down what Trump has and continues to.

This is always the truth about well, whatever oppressive "destroy the Middle and Working Classes regime" and their citizens.

Trump bottled that lightning, which is why people support him. If RDS or Viv truly want to win, they also need to prove that they can handle that lightning.

We, as voters, need to make Trump's or whoever's vote tally as high as is humanly possible. We all need to vote to prove "his legitimacy" as real and the Democrat's fraud "legitimacy" as fraudulent to as many people as possible.

That's the game. That's the hand we're dealt this time around. that's it. We must force a fraud so large that it is apparent to everyone, even true believers.

294 One month would be the opener, and nothing would change. Maybe six months. Or a year. That can't be done all at once, so you're probably looking at various rounds of it, like we sometimes see in Latin America.

When I was doing things in Afghanistan, I remember a conversation with a local who mocked Americans saying that we will be reduced to living in foxholes and eating rodents yet will not survive because we are not accustomed to it, whereas those who have lived that most of their lives will see it as yet another day.

His point being that Americans don't know how to survive other than killing their neighbor and taking their stuff. I'm trying to imagine how someone with no skills, a hundred pounds overweight, on five or more prescriptions and is adverse to work will all of a sudden become Daniel Boone.

295 My brain is rejecting the programming.

As I was scanning my price-inflated food slop at Kroger's yesterday, the machine kept pausing and having to have some employee come over to reset it. Thrice for about 25 items.

Finally, I stared down and asked myself why am I paying these exorbitant prices and then being forced to suffer the indignity of having to handle the transaction myself and then being accused of theft by a machine?

So I just walked away and left all the items on the belt and the transaction in progress.

I'm finding I can no longer participate in any of the orderly programs that our corporate-government partnership has in mind for us.

365 The Biden administration is redefining the Davis Bacon act, so that your tax dollars buy fewer and fewer services.

The new rule lets DOL adopt prevailing wages determined by state and local governments rather than contractor surveys. That means Big Labor’s friends in Albany and Sacramento will be able to dictate wages on public works. Prevailing wages in metro areas will also cover nearby rural counties where wages are typically lower.

The new rule extends the mandate to broadband, solar panels, wind turbines and electric-vehicle charging stations that are financed in part by Washington. Semiconductor firms receiving federal grants for new factories will have to pay construction workers the new prevailing wage.

Yes. Becoming weaker is an evolutionary benefit. If it's too aggressive and spreads too much, it will kill off its hosts and therefore itself.

Becoming weaker and wider-spreading, or harder to spread, or both, is better for long-term survival. The first of these is the best case. A mutation that is *more* dangerous becoming a major player is fairly unusual per my understanding.

Yes. Its called genetic entropy. By far, the most mutations are benign, the remainder are detrimental to the organism. Despite the core theology of Evolution, beneficial mutations that add function do not occur to any discernable frequency in nature.

That is why there is a whole category of biology that works to add function to organisms by adding genetic material(information) because Chance and Evolution aren't doing their assumed jobs.

402 This is only a hypothetical question because I was listening to Wilkow yesterday and a conservative lawyer said he believed Trump would be convicted and jailed in at least the DC case.

Are there elements of his private security, the secret service, and others who won't allow that to happen and then what would the authorities do? Is this heading towards real violence where some people won't stand for Trump being hauled off to prison?

In my town, about 10 years ago, some lame brain introduced a citizens bill to ban all semi automatic rifles. At a town meeting, they asked the police chief how he would go about collecting them, and he wanted no part of the discussion. Thankfully, the whole thing flopped, but it's raising the same hypotheticals in my mind: some people, both public and private citizens, might try to block the imprisonment of Trump, and what happens then?

For different reasons most of the rightwing pundit class wants to pretend the Biden junta arresting the leading opposition candidate is still sort of normal and so if the charges are silly they'll be thrown out.

Why on earth would you believe that? Are the charges against the opposition guy in Russia reasonable? I'm going to guess no. And I expect he'll be convicted because the Russian government wants him to be.

And it will be the same with Trump here in the US.

Russia’s brutal proficiency in defending occupied territory through a phalanx of minefields and trenches, and is likely to prompt finger pointing inside Kyiv and Western capitals about why a counteroffensive that saw tens of billions of dollars of Western weapons and military equipment fell short of its goals.

Much like Russia, it's MOSTLY a disinformation op. Free electioneering for Democrats, conning the world into thinking Trump must be a criminal. That's the intent along with harassment and a prayer they get lucky and get him in jail.

I forget whether that's the past-due amount or the total amount this year, but it's a lot either way and it will probably take down the company. Perhaps not - Xi is fickle, as is the CCP and so it could turn out quite differently - but that's my guess.

I'm surprised that he didn't do an alter call at the end.

479 Of course Trump can’t win. The regime considers him an existential threat. 8 years of being utterly demonized in the media is virtually impossible to overcome. Suburban women who would have no trouble voting for any other Republican simply won’t vote for him. And when you believe (as many on the left do) that Hitler us on the ballot, you feel justified in breaking any law in order to top him.

This is too bad because if we lose the next election, we face 4 more years of this crap - of the left burrowing ever further into the system and tearing down the country.

So to have even a chance of winning, we must nominate someone other than Trump. This isn’t about helping a deeply wronged man get his revenge, this is about saving a nation. We need to pick someone else and do everything possible to help him win: DeSantis is the guy to pick, he’s shown an ability under media fire to stand up to them that no one else has had to face and he governs from the right. Sure, they’ll demonize whoever we pick, but they’ll only face a year or so of this, instead of 8 years like Trump has. No one is perfect, but DeSantis fits the Buckley rule -the most rightward candidate who has a chance to win.
