If large donors care more about who can win than which candidate most matches their policy preferences, what exactly is the point of donating money? It's not to help that candidate to win because the candidates probability of victory is a precondition of donating money to the campaign.

Granted that Trump did enact tax cuts--although significantly smaller than either the Reagan or Bush 43 tax cuts--and they did work, they still were unpopular and were a drag on his popularity.

Yeah, it's been a while since I last lived in a place with Gopes as elected officeholders. Ann Wagner was once my congresscritter, she's particularly unimportant anymore, but for a while there she was on Team Boehner.

Jonah is selective with the facts and memory. Just look at how all the billionaires jumped at the opportunity to escort Jeb Bush into the White House, only to have their precious egos stomped on. I think a lot of animosity and outright bias aimed at Trump from the "never Trumpers" is a result of the disproving outright of what Jonah says in this clip. For me, I buy political books to obtain facts not opinions. Whatever you think of her , Ann Coulter wrote some good fact filled books. I tried to read Michelle Malkin's but I couldn't get through the first two chapters. I'm sure it had great information but it was unreadable.

Agreed. I have Manafort's book, as well as Kushner's. There's a lot of great inside baseball stuff in those books that I like a lot. Coulter, at her prime, was fantastic (her arguments in Godless (IIRC) against abortion and evolution were both very good). Even Luntz's book Words That Work has gems in it.

Political books by bloggers are one thing. Political books by pros are something different.

The system is supposed to prevent this. Each precinct is supposed to have tallies, ballots, voting regs, records, etc. all reviewed by observers and sealed and presented to the board for certification. (And auditable if necessary)

What seems overlooked is that this whole system was thrown out when the Dems "upgraded" to electronic voting books, centralized counting, and computer voting. This was a 2 decade project.

In past, inner cities were never auditable as they showed up with none of the numbers matching and the boards just shook their head and certified. THAT IS A BIG PROBLEM since once you admit numbers don't match, it can never be audited. It is ripe for fraud, but it was allowed since only in inner cities and to toss those votes would have been "racist." The dems only expanded a known working system of fraud.

Did you read the article? He wasn't told what would happen beforehand. He was only starting to realize the guy was alive when he first laid hands on the prisoner. He was shouted at and started to assist, then he refused to continue.

It's super easy to say you'd refuse from the cheap seats, but I think most people would have failed to do better in the moment.

Also, the guy was an up and coming Doctor with a relative in the Party. For this guy to defect and testify against his country, who are highly motivated to shut him up using extreme violence, is amazing.

Especially compared to all of the quislings in the US fedgov who are keeping their heads down and ignoring all the corruption going on around them.

398 Jonah is forgetting that most billionaire donors are paying for access and special favors for themselves, not for the “people” and not with the country’s best interests at heart. In fact, one could argue that most of their issue positions are contrary to what most people want.

The very premise of Jonah’s argument is wrong. By definition populism represents what the majority wants. And so by definition, populist candidates are more likely to be elected than candidates who reject populist positions. So if you’re arguing electability, you’d support populist candidates.

399 377 You know while everyone is looking for illegal ballot harvesting, or invented addresses etc... in Pennsylvania, they should be looking at something a little more simple to detect. I can assure you that a vast majority of Precinct captains in the urban areas of PA are just reporting false tallies. That includes Philly, Pittsburgh, Allentown, Reading and even some precincts in Lancaster.

It's been that way in PA for as long as I can remember, and I'm 29++++. After every election, the numbers don't jibe, and not just a small rounding error. Always from the same precincts. The GOP makes a timid request to look into it, the Dems scream "RAAAAAYCISSSST", the GOP runs away, and the cycle repeats.
