Kevin McCarthy Demands Biden Turn Over His Banking Records; Says That Impeachment Inquiry Will "Empower" Congress to Get The Answers to Questions About the Biden Bribery Scandal

Plus: A Kazakh oligarch bought Hunter Biden a $150,000 Porsche just before Joe Biden, coincidentally, sat down for dinner with him!

It is time.

House Speaker Kevin McCarthy has called on President Biden to "give us his bank statements" to prove he didn't benefit from his family's foreign business dealing as Republicans prepare to launch an impeachment inquiry as early as next month.

"I think there's enough proof out there that this Biden family needs to come forward and show there wasn't a pay to play," McCarthy (R-Calif.) told Fox News' Sean Hannity Monday night -- after testimony last week from first son Hunter Biden's former associate Devon Archer implicated Joe Biden in about two dozen phone calls and in-person meetings with his son's foreign patrons.

McCarthy said that an impeachment inquiry, which he first raised in late July as a possibility, "empowers Congress, Republicans and Democrats of their committee, to be able to get the information if somebody fights from providing it to them."

The White House did not immediately respond to a question about whether Biden would provide his bank statements to Congress.

The president ignored a query in June about the possibility of handing over his bank statements during a gaggle with reporters on the White House lawn.

In the same gaggle, he denied being involved in a July 30, 2017, WhatsApp message in which Hunter wrote to a Chinese government-linked businessman that he was "sitting here with my father" and threatened retribution if an agreement was not fulfilled.

Days later, roughly $5 million was transferred into Biden-linked bank accounts.

The House Oversight Committee has subpoenaed the bank records of many of first son Hunter and first brother James Biden's business partners, allowing the panel to allege in May that foreign payments flowed to nine Biden family members.

Hunter, now 53, griped in communications retrieved from his abandoned laptop that he had to give "half" of his income to his father, who continues to insist he never discussed business with his son, despite evidence to the contrary.

The Oversight Committee has not yet subpoenaed bank records for either the president or members of his family.

Sources close to discussions about a potential Biden impeachment inquiry told The Post that Republicans plan to call additional witnesses and unveil further evidence linking Joe Biden to his family's business dealings before calling a vote in the narrowly divided House to launch the inquiry.

McCarthy would only be able to lose four Republican votes on the floor, meaning that skeptical moderates will have to be convinced.

The speaker has framed an impeachment inquiry as distinct from an actual impeachment proceeding, saying the former merely grants legislators stronger investigative powers.

I mean, whatever. I guess it's good politics, especially because Weak Sisters want to be reassured they're not voting for Impeachment-Impeachment.

..

McCarthy told Hannity that Republicans intend to further investigate a bribery allegation that VP Biden was paid to push the ouster Ukrainian prosecutor-general Viktor Shokin as a favor to gas firm Burisma Holdings.

The company paid Hunter Biden up to $1 million per year beginning when his father assumed control of the Obama administration's Ukraine policy in early 2014.

The speaker said he also wants to study why Biden has spared former Moscow first lady Yelena Baturina, a billionaire, from sanctions on Russia's business elite over last year's invasion of Ukraine.

Baturina dined with the elder Biden during his vice presidency and transferred $3.5 million to a firm associated with the first son, most of which was sent on to a separate entity co-owned by Hunter, Archer confirmed last week.

McCarthy said the Biden family doesn't "produce any products."

"If you're an expert when it comes to foreign policy, why isn't it Italy or the UK or France hiring you?" he asked. "Why is it just Ukraine, Russia, China, Romania?"

That's a good point. The next article hits that point too.

Nothing to see here, folks:

Foreign oligarchs moved millions to Biden-tied firms before meeting Joe Biden, investigators say

House Oversight Committee now has traced more than $20 million in funds from Russians, Chinese, Ukrainians, Kazakhs and Romanians to Biden-tied entities.

Firms tied to the Biden family collected more than $20 million from foreign sources, including big payments from controversial oligarchs who afterwards had private dinners with Joe Biden as vice president, congressional investigators disclosed Wednesday.

In its third memo analyzing bank records, the GOP-led House Oversight and Accountability Committee reported it had found a clear pattern of the Biden family and its partners doing business with Russian, Ukrainian, Kazakh, Chinese and Romanian figures who had legal and other troubles and then collecting money around the times of gaining access to Joe Biden.

The pattern, the congressional investigators noted, corroborates recent testimony from former Hunter Biden business partner Devon Archer that the presidential son solicited business from foreigners who were seeking influence, access or protection from a family "brand" that included Joe Biden.

"The Biden family's and associates' dealings with foreign nationals from Russia, Kazakhstan and Ukraine show a pattern of Hunter Biden and Devon Archer courting wealthy oligarchs with political and financial influence but tainted backgrounds," the new member to lawmakers on the committee stated.

"Thus far, the Committee has identified over $20 million from foreign sources that benefitted the Biden family and their business associates," it added.

Specific details of the transactions at the article itself. It's specific, not vague.

Committee Chairman James Comer said the latest bank records affirmed an influence-peddling operation inside the web of Biden family businesses while Joe Biden served as President Barack Obama's No. 2.

"During Joe Biden's vice presidency, Hunter Biden sold him as 'the brand' to reap millions from oligarchs in Kazakhstan, Russia and Ukraine," Comer said. "It appears no real services were provided other than access to the Biden network, including Joe Biden himself. And Hunter Biden seems to have delivered."

Must be nice to be a Biden. Below, a $150,000 wire payment from Hunter's "business" Rosemont Seneca to Schneider-Nelson Audi Porsche. I'm guessing the payment was for a Porsche, not an Audi.

Below, a clear Porsche Payoff. A Kazakh oligarch transferred $150,000 to Rosemont Seneca, the exact price of a sportscar that Hunter Biden then bought for the exact price of $150,000.

They gave him a Porsche. That's how much they valued his "business" expertise, and Joe Biden's wonderful observations about the weather.

porschepayoff.jpg

This payment was made in 2014, when Joe Biden was Vice President and acting as the administration's pointman on Ukraine. I'm sure we'll very soon find out that Joe Biden, the Foreign Policy Expert (TM), suddenly developed a keen interest in Kazakhstan at this time, just as they were giving Hunter Biden a Porsche Pussywagon.

Oversight Committee
@GOPoversight

BIDEN FAMILY INVESTIGATION

Today we're releasing a bank records memo detailing how the Bidens & their associates received millions from oligarchs in Russia, Kazakhstan & Ukraine.

As Hunter was sealing these deals, then-VP Biden dined with these oligarchs in DC.

We've now identified $20 million in payments from foreign sources to the Bidens and their associates.

During Joe Biden's vice presidency, Hunter sold him as "the brand." No real services were provided other than access to the Biden network, including Joe Biden himself.

On 2/14/14, Russian oligarch Yelena Baturina wired $3.5M to a shell company associated with Hunter Biden & Devon Archer. About $1M was transferred to Archer & the remainder was used to initially fund a new company account, which Archer & Biden used to receive other foreign wires.

Despite putting dozens of Russian oligarchs on the sanctions list, Joe Biden steadfastly refused to put his benefactor Yelena Baturina on the sanction list.

Another "illusion" of access!

Abracadabra!

In Spring 2014, a Ukrainian oligarch placed Archer and Biden on the Burisma board of directors and agreed to pay each of them $1 million per year. Then-Vice President Joe Biden visited Ukraine soon after they joined Burisma. Hunter claimed credit for this visit to show "value."

The "illusion" of access strikes again!

On 4/22/14, Kazakhstani oligarch Kenes Rakishev wired the exact price of Biden's sportscar to a bank account used by Archer and Biden. The next day a payment was made to purchase the sportscar.

After receiving the sportscar payment, Archer & Biden then arranged for Burisma executives to visit Kazakhstan in June 2014 to evaluate a three-way deal among Burisma, a Chinese state-owned company, and the government of Kazakhstan.

Hunter brought in millions of dollars from Yelena Baturina, Burisma, and Kenes Rakishev.

President Biden had dinner with them in the spring of 2014 and 2015 in Washington, D.C.

This is clear corruption that enriched the Biden family.

The "illusion" of access -- actually getting to sit down for dinner with a sitting American Vice President! Twice!

Presto!

Well worth the price of a Porsche 911, huh?

Megyn Kelly had a clip where she said she had a sudden realization: This isn't a case of Hunter Biden using his father to make money. This is a case of Joe Biden using his son to make money, designating him the official Bagman and Fallguy for a sustained, organized bribery and favor-trading scheme.

And meanwhile Mitch the Bitch says: "Please don't impeach my good friend Joe Biden! Please don't look into how the relatives of other geriatric influence-peddlers might be taking money from China!"

reason why I'm curious -- the Gotti/Castellano story. When underlings feel like the boss is keeping too much of the loot, whether they are correct or not, nasty things can happen to the boss.

aspect that I want to know -- do the Bidens pay off any R's? If they do, is there a DC gravy train that funnels dirty money to both dems and R's -- and will the Bidens be the clowns that let us all know?

He hasn't been eating really anything for a while now and had suddenly switched to cranberry juice only, which we're now told is a natural laxative and too much can lead to dehydration, so it seems he's making every bad decision he can in his condition.

--
Bets question: Was Biden the patsy they all pinned various crimes on in case they got caught but then they got trapped into making him President?

That explains a lot of why it's all so sloppy and also why they are all so desperate to protect him now.

If he wasn't President, they could have gotten him off with the "no reasonable prosecutor" trick.
But, as President, it's too big a deal.

177 I'm curious how an impeachment trial of Merrick Garland would play out. That kind of attack would probably lead to less of a knee-jerk reaction of circling the wagons as the media tried to spin up how an attack on Garland, whom most of America has never heard of, is an attack akin to 9/11.
Posted by: TheJamesMadison, contemplating utopia with Peter Weir at August 09, 2023 02:19 PM

The media wouldn't cover it heavily, and the majority of the public wouldn't know or care. Politicians don't care about their voters much, but if they're REALLY pissed off and vocal, they'll at least act like they care and support the majority sentiment. Impeaching Garland would never reach that level.

Impeaching Biden could...it's too big to hide, and the Dems would be forced to defend him, increasing the visibility and attention the conversation demands...even if it's to bitch and say it's baseless, and just revenge for impeaching Trump.

209 Biden does not control his bank records, the banks do. And banks are subject to strict anti-money laundering rules ("AML") and, most especially, "Know Your Customer" rules. They cannot escape these requirements, no matter how important a Democrat we are talking about. There will be records. Banks know exactly who owns all the mysterious Biden accounts.

This lack of clarity has caused some confusion within the industry, especially with respect to identifying "beneficial owners" of customers that are legal entities (i.e., identifying people who own a large portion of the legal entity customer) because the ownership threshold that triggers the proposed KYC requirements is determined in part based on the institution's internal customer risk assessment.

Speech was Tues night. Hostage vid.

What did Joe get, something like a $5 million advance for his memoirs? Maybe more? Than man is a high achieving retard who had accomplished nothing in DC in 50 years, who the hell would buy his memoirs for $0.25?

455 So let's say (just for funsies) that Biden complies and turns over his banking records. And let's say it blows off the lid on the whole Biden criminal enterprise.

What then for Speaker McCarthy?

Will his Daddy Dom, Mitch McConnell allow McCarthy to do his Constitutional duty to Impeach Joe Biden or will we be subject to more meaningless, chest-beating hearings that lead to nothing being done, save recommending the DOJ or FBI investigate.

I'm so done with McCarthy at this point. Fuck him. And as always, fuck the Republican Party too.

Posted by: Tracy at August 09, 2023 06:10 PM (t/whR)

456 This is theater. Or...

McCarthy was pissed on the trick for Hunter's sentencing. They have all the records, they know what happened. They probably have a decent idea of which GOP bigwigs are tied in around the fringe. And yes, I imagine Mitch is.

By asking for the banking records they are going to show that Biden didn't report income - that was what Hunter was supposed to take the fall for. When that got screwed up, nailing Joe for income tax gets the rest of DC off the hook for their crimes, and puts pressure on the IRS head - who is under Yellen who is completely out of her league (and who Powell hates with a passion it appears) to put pressure on her. Then its popcorn time. This also threads the needle to get timid republicans on board. I doubt it helps with the dems in the senate, but if they are getting a get out of jail free card they might at least give it airplay.
