Jim Jordan Accuses FBI's Pointman on Government-Directed Censorship, Elvis Chan, of Perjuring Himself Before Congress Regarding the Hunter Biden Laptop
Apparently a single FBI agent, when asked by the social media companies the FBI was demanding censor the story, confirmed that they knew the Hunter Biden laptop was real. However, after that, the FBI executed a walkback, insisting they had no comment on whether the laptop was real or not, and were even unsure about it. Elvis Chan lied when he told Congress he did not speak to the social media companies after that initial, unguarded admission by an unknown FBI agent that the laptop was real. But he did, and the suspicion is that he doesn't want to admit that conversation because he might well have lied to the social media companies and told them the laptop was fake.House Judiciary Committee Chairman Jim Jordan released new evidence Monday that he said shows the FBI lied about meeting with Big Tech companies before the 2020 election to discuss Hunter Biden's laptop, a story that social media companies were censoring at the time. The "FBI LIED ABOUT MEETING WITH BIG TECH REGARDING NY POST'S HUNTER BIDEN LAPTOP STORY," Jordan wrote on X, the platform formerly known as Twitter. Jordan published documents showing the FBI's comments on the Hunter Biden story when it first broke and how FBI Special Agent Elvis Chan testified about his meetings with Facebook representatives. Chan and Foreign Influence Task Force Section Chief Laura Dehmlow met with Facebook on Oct. 14, 2020, the day the New York Post published its story on the Hunter Biden laptop. Dehmlow met with both Twitter and Facebook that day. At this time, the FBI had the laptop in its possession and knew that it was real, Jordan said. Documents published by Jordan show that when a Twitter representative asked whether the story was real, an FBI agent said "yes," but an FBI lawyer jumped in, cutting him off with, "No further comment." Dehmlow then said the FBI heldChan also claimed he didn't know personally if the laptop was real or not. In fact, evidence shows he knew it had been verified as real.When the Facebook meeting was held later in the day, the FBI simply said, "No comment," when asked whether the Hunter Biden story was factual. Twitter and Facebook then censored the story. In November 2022, Chan testified in a censorship lawsuit brought by the states of Missouri and Louisiana against the Biden administration that he was "confident" he was not part of any meetings with Big Tech, other than the one with Facebook on Oct. 14, 2020. However, Jordan published an internal Facebook document showing that Chan had a "follow up" call with the social media platform on Oct. 15, 2020, one day after the initial meeting.

I don't get it. They knew they were lying. Facebook knew (or at least strongly suspected that) they were lying. Why bother with the "no comment" crap? Just tell the same lie you've been telling. I don't take it so much that Congress itself is sacrosanct and must not be lied to because they're so darn special, but more that it's an official proceeding, and you're under oath not to lie, so if you *do* lie, and your lie is entered into the official record of What Happened, it ought to be punishable. Just as you can't lie in any other trial or hearing where you're under oath.

Criminal law is different than civil - in civil suits, the crime is consequential to where the defendant is located - ie corporate headquarters, etc. But there is a ton of criminal case precedent for violations of the 6th amendment, here is just one:

Under the Sixth - for criminal violations, you have to be indicted and convicted under a jury of your peers - in the district the crime happened. In civil court suits, the governing rule is "where is the defendant reasonably located" not exactly where the alleged injustice took place. This makes criminal law different that civil law. The Judge is pointing out that, per US vs Zucker, etal that the DOJ is in violation of the 6th amendment - you asked for case law - there you go.

The police are relying on a thin reed where courts have protected informants or undercover agents from their identity being disclosed before trial. There is no such right for uniformed cops and doubtful that it would extend to judges or prosecutors as well.

Again, as was stated in a previous thread, Ron DeSantis and that snake, Rick Scott, had to beat back attempts to steal their elections, so either Ron doesn't remember that he fired the Broward county board of elections supervisor and all of the election reforms the FL legislature undertook or he's just another GOPe grifting twatbag.

Most of the stuff at that price point now I already own or just don't want. I'm mostly left with boutique stuff now that interests me. Arrow is doing a 4K of Witness that is going to be $30+ on release day. I'd sooner buy that than the $8 Blu that's been in print for a decade.
