The Morning Report — 8/7/23

trumpmculiffe.jpg

Good morning, kids. On Friday, I had a bit of a semi-heated exchange with friend and cob CBD over one of my asides in the links. Specifically, it was about Ron DeSantis claiming he was going to start "slitting throats on day one" vis a vis going after the Deep State. My retort about DeSantis perhaps having more credibility in this regard if he unequivocally denounced what is being done to Trump by said Deep State was what CBD took umbrage to.

Oh...bullsh*t! Trump has been the epitome of nasty and sleazy in his dealings with DeSantis. What you want is for DeSantis to obey Reagan's 11th Commandment, but give Trump a pass.

It's a fair point, as indicated by my response:

Aye, and there's the rub. This is NOT politics as usual. While I agree that Trump has been a pretty loud asshole about a lot of things to his detriment, what is being done to him is an absolute abomination that rises way above this crap.

I do stand by my assertion but, and I do concede that Trump is equally guilty in a sense of going on the offensive against his opponents as if this were ordinary retail business as usual.

Does he not realize this? I guess not. So I do concede that your anger is not unjustified, CBD.

For sure, this is not politics as usual. In a bizarre way, as I stated, I don't even think Trump gets this. Or if he does get it, he's going through the motions as if it is no big deal. That's what's so frustrating about this whole situation. Of all the people to have as a leader of a movement, the good news is it's Trump. It's also the bad news. About the only person on the campaign trail who does get it is Red Meat Ramaswamy, and strangely enough to a much lesser extent RFK Jr.

They have stolen elections, staged an insurrection (oh hell yes indeed they did), persecuted and imprisoned citizens, censored legitimate journalists, and are using the instrumentalities of a thoroughly corrupt criminal justice system and the rest of the bureaucracy to kneecap their prime political rival.

Let me state that while there are number of things that irk me about Trump, I am not 100% sold on DeSantis and, aside from Ramaswamy, every other candidate in the GOP field is a complete non-starter. Yet, that presupposes looking at where we are as if it's just another election. I think we all have to break out of this mindset. And the one person who has to do that is Trump himself:

For me, the no-longer-American justice system crossed the Rubicon when they raided a former president’s private home. That was unprecedented and tragic enough for me to lose my respect for the DOJ. And naturally, once our country tilted over the top of the waterfall, it has only picked up speed on its plunge to the disastrous chasm below.

It’s time for former — and possibly future — President Trump to grab that branch that’s sticking out halfway down and refuse to fall any further.

In Fulton County, Ga. — which was featured prominently in the film “2000 Mules” for likely illegal ballot harvesting — despicable and racialist Soros DA Fani Willis has been working on her own Get Trump! indictment. And as if the entire world doesn’t know who Donald Trump is, Fulton County Sheriff Pat Labat has promised to, at long last, secure that coveted mug shot.

“Unless somebody tells me differently, we are following our normal practices, and so it doesn’t matter your status, we’ll have a mugshot ready for you,” vowed Labat on Wednesday.

Folks, we’ve entered the part of the drama where the evil ghouls shave off Aslan’s majestic mane and mock him on the way to his slaughter. Trump is dutifully visiting the stations of the cross he bears. But Trump isn’t Jesus — he’s a lion, not a lamb — and there’s no reason why he should take one more choreographed step in the Left’s disgusting dance. It’s not fair, so let’s stop pretending it is.

What if Trump simply says, “No?”

Remember, we’re cascading down the face of the cliff at this point. Every step of the way will become increasingly debasing and humiliating for the former President of the United States and front-running candidate for office in 2024 (who is, after all, the representative of the political will of half the country — you and me). What if Trump simply refuses to show up for Fani’s hate-indictment arraignment and Labat’s cuffs-and-mugshot routine?

I would pay good money to see the look of frustrated rage on the Leftists’ faces when they realize he’s not coming. Trump should force their hand. Make them send armed forces to arrest him like the thugs they are. Show the captivated world that yes, it’s true — America is gone, replaced by just another failing fascist state.

That's just it; America is gone. This game of "Let's Pretend" is not only not getting us anywhere, it has the adverse affect of reinforcing this meme that everything over the past three years, and longer really, is the way things are supposed to be, and we who stand in defiance of that are worse than cancer and Hitler combined in refusing to go along with it.

It matters not a whit who the candidate is in 2024. The Democrats are already perfectly positioned to steal that election in the same swing states and districts that threw it to them in 2020. The GOP is perfectly positioned – pants down and grasping ankles – to do nothing to stop it, before or after the fact. Ditto most likely the judiciary.

Even if our candidate does manage to overcome what will be an even more insane margin of fraud (85 million ballots? 90? 100 million?), do you think that the bureaucracy will not engage in mass insubordination as it did between 2017 and 2020, even if the cabinet is comprised of absolute loyalists to GOP President Whoever?

Do you even think that this Junta is even going to let GOP President Whoever take office without claiming that the election was stolen, with mass rioting as well as a thoroughly corrupt military ready to arrest said President-elect, his transition team and then outlaw and imprison the Republican Party and its constituents en masse?

They are never going to allow Trump or DeSantis or Ramaswamy to take control, let alone win an election.

Trump indeed has nothing to lose by not cooperating and forcing the Junta to arrest him. If Trump is in Florida, DeSantis has quite a bit to gain by refusing to hand him over should the FBI Gestapo come after him.

Unfortunately, both see fit to play along with this madness and go after each other while the GOP sticks its collective head up its ass as well. But if either or both of them call the Junta's bluff – and all things considered it's a very risky proposition – that's when things can get interesting to say the least.

10 The best thing for this country would have been if that FBI op went completely sideways, like they usually do, they completely lost control of their cockamamie, Boris Badenov plan, and those people actually did go berserk and overthrow the government.

One day, hopefully during my lifetime, a critical mass of people will have enough, remove this regime, and put an end to this sham of a mockery of a republic. But I expect it will happen peaceably though.

12 Well, before reading the links, I do have to say that there's a confusion about what it means to say "America is gone." What has been wounded (perhaps mortally) is the notion that we are a constitutional republic. And I'm as pissed as anyone about that.

But let's not kid ourselves that the USA was wholly a nation under the rule of law. I too grew up in NY. And I can tell you that NO ONE I knew, as early as the 60s, thought we had honest politicians, or elections, or even judges. The judges might as well have advertised in the Sunday paper. "Special group rates on all bribes."

Now, I do know that much of the rest of the country was better than that. But, at the same time, there were places just as bad (Chicago, Philly).

Where I erred was thinking, when I left Sodom, that the poison was contained. It had been. No longer; it's metastasized.

14 something something lie halfway around

At the time, most Canadians, myself included, assumed that the children whose bodies had supposedly been detected at Kamloops had been summarily buried to conceal brutal maltreatment at the hands of the racist staff of the school. But as time went by, some critically minded people pointed out glaring inconsistencies in the mass-grave story.

To date, no human remains have been unearthed from the site, and there is doubt that it is even a graveyard at all.

My little adventure with getting a judge removed from office reveals the corruption too, circa 1975. In a nearby town the cops were pulling people over left and right. Those who fought the ticket were found guilty anyway. But the judge was keeping the portion that should have gone to Harrisburg for himself, as he was not 'officially' finding people guilty. The cops were having a field day in court, so they went to town on the most minor of offenses.

42 Great commentary as usual, JJ.

It’s an interesting suggestion for Trump to tell that GA DA to go pound sand. For better or worse, that’s not who Trump is; I don’t know how, but he still believes in the system and I love him all the more for it. There is a “trust the system” way through this but it’ll require a few miracles: basically having so many normies so disgusted by the obviously illegal spectacle of Jack Smith etc that they rise up and vote in overwhelming numbers for Trump… to beat the coming cheat. That’d probably require 85-90 million legitimate votes for DJT.

The alternative might lead to bloody chaos; I don’t want that… Trump is no Pinochet and I don’t think we really want one of those…

Out of the box thinking...

Perhaps it's time for "our side" to agree to eliminating the Electoral College. Fine, we'll decide the winner based on national popular vote. But Florida and Texas will somehow magically have some technical difficulties with vote tabulation and won't be able to provide results until the other 48 states are already reported. Whine all you want that they are not doing that, that is not fair-- but that is 100% what they are doing.

"It's not binary" they whine, "I can condemn the prosecution of Trump and not be supporting the Democrats!!"

Yeah, yeah.

You said the same thing in 2016 when you were "not supporting Hillary."
And you said the same thing in 2020 when you were "not supporting Biden."

You're going on ten plus years now, saying the same dumb thing that has the result every time of benefitting the Democrats.
Don't you think it's time to give up pretending you're not supporting the Democrats?

77 I would pay good money to see the look of frustrated rage on the Leftists’ faces when they realize he’s not coming. Trump should force their hand. Make them send armed forces to arrest him like the thugs they are. Show the captivated world that yes, it’s true — America is gone, replaced by just another failing fascist state.
++++
That is exactly what would happen, which is one of the reasons that I think Trump won't do this. He will continue to cooperate, I think for two reasons. First, he wants to campaign. It's hard to do that from prison and he *will* be remanded for the duration if he makes them go pick him up. Second, I think he still thinks he can win and that justice will be served. I think Trump's greatest blind spot is his great faith in the American system and that while he's being railroaded, the system will ultimately come through in the clutch.

He is wrong, and this apparent belief of his is why I think he will not do the things so many people want him to do - like destroy the DoJ or burn agencies down to the waterline. He is still a reformer, and will not perform revolutionary acts like this writer is describing.

93 This will go well for the NHS. Yeah. Schools will be an impartial arbiter:

Under the new plans, "Children under seven years of age may not be expected to have sufficiently developed their intellectual understanding of, and comprehension of, sex and gender to be able to understand the reasons for, and potential consequences of, a referral to a specialist gender incongruence service.”"

But, according to the UK, by the age of seven, children will "be more established within school, and education professionals and school nurses will be able to contribute to a general observational view as to the appropriateness of a referral."

Yup. I have long said similar. National offices and national elections are pointless. Depending on where you live, state and local elections might be pointless. If you live in Los Angeles, none of your elections matter. If you live in a suburb of Raleigh, both local and state elections probably matter rather a lot.

The federal government is a lost cause. It is beyond reform and there's no point in trying to achieve federal office unless you plan to execute a coup. On the state and local level, though, it is often a different story.

revolution (outside, not powerful)
despotic status quo (inside, powerful)

I'm just idly spitballing. None of this is important.

145 New York City Mayor Eric Adams (D) has started moving border crossers and illegal aliens into recreation centers at parks in two of Brookyln’s ultra-liberal neighborhoods. Another migrant camp may soon be coming to Manhattan’s Central Park. At Sunset Park in Brooklyn, for instance, Adams’ office has relocated an unknown number of border crossers and illegal aliens to the park’s recreation center, which will almost certainly impact services for New Yorkers. The neighborhood’s precincts voted anywhere from 59 percent to 100 percent for President Joe Biden in the 2020 presidential election.

150 Of course Trump gets it. What DeSantis supporters never seem to get is Trump has his own commandments and none is greater than loyalty. He's only been saying it for decades very publicly.

Now you can think his reasons are BS or say he's wrong but that's irrelevant. Trump believes it. Trump pretty much made Ron governor and he expected a degree of loyalty in return. Ron chose otherwise and Trump did what he has always done.

This isn't a mystery and at this point I don't Trump gives a wet fart about what Ron says. He's just steamrolling him.

Well, it could cause some questions. The one that springs entirely to my mind is, "is the CCP trying to further degrade American energy policy so as to reduce American power, or is the CCP trying to acquire US energy resources for itself?"

Or any number of other things. Red China is an enemy and anyone working with them should be hounded out of power, but the specific goal could be any number of things.

157 CBD, JJ. Loyalty. We stay loyal to the brands and people we trust and we demand a return. We help those we love and expect a return when needed. Yet, once it comes to politics we scoff at it.

I will state it this way: Trump actually implemented(or tried to) what republicans have campaigned on since Ronaldus... and 'republicans' fought him over it. He exuded loyalty to the American People.

I work with executives who make Trump look humble, but they deliver. I have their back, they have mine when it comes to our common purpose in business. Until I or they fuck up. The GOPe has fucked up for almost four decades selling our manufacturing to China under 'free trade'; Ramaswamy just endorsed Obama's TPP...

I do not care what tiny little issues or ism's Trump mis-speaks about; he delivered on fossil fuel energy which is the basis of our lives and sent one Hellfire missile up the ass of the worlds leading terrorist(Soleimani) rather than conduct 20 year wars to nowhere enriching GOPe donors. It is a record of success no other politician can even talk about.

As climate change unfolds, some will be impacted more severely than others. Whether through less protection from extreme temperature swings or an inability to afford rising energy bills, our most vulnerable communities deserve equitable solutions that will slash emissions and improve health and affordability across the Commonwealth. However, the unintended consequences of Massachusetts’ approach to end the use of fossil fuels in homes has left communities jumping through hoops to electrify new construction.

202 IS there a limit on how much they can cheat, or not? I honestly don't know. If they need to inflate the vote totals, how many times the actual population of the big cities can they claim. Double?

For years LA got away with 1.3 million not existent voters, until they lost a lawsuit and were forced to remove them from the roles. That gives a feel for the magnitude of the problem. The cheat factor works two ways. 1. Reduce the real vote against them, by vote switching. (You vote R, your vote is recorded as a D vote). 2. Fabricate non existent votes, you show up to vote, and you're told "Sorry you've already voted, and I see all of your late relatives voted also. Go away now." No, there is no practical limit to how much they can cheat. Remember there is video of freshly printed ballots, all 'voting' for Joe Biden arriving in delivery trucks in Michigan voter tabulation centers. You're a fascist for seeing that video evidence.

There was a movie/documentary of a fella in South Florida who "helped" weirdos who wanted their sack cut off. He charged a couple hundred dollars and would meet them in motels to do the chop chop. The weirdos who had their sacks chopped off then had to take shots of male hormones the rest of their weirdo days.

217 Thank You JJ. Insubordinate is the word I guess I've looking for when I bring up this very subject. I wish there was someone on our side that would ask DeSantis or Trump how they expect to deal with an insubordinate Deep State. It's as if they both expect the Deep State to remain static as they attempt to dismantle/reorganize/defund it and they're just going to let this happen without any backlash or fight from the Deep State and the politicians of both parties that protect it.
I know if I were the Deep State/Dems/left I would do exactly what they're doing right now should one of them win and go after them and their cabinet with both barrels blazing making up whatever "crimes" I want to pin ontheir administration individuals. They're putting Trump people in prison right now as we speak

If I'm a Democrat whatever either of them do to mess with the Deep State I'd call it an attack on national security, democracy and an insurrection then cue Milley or the like to show up and remove you from office.
How anyone be they a Trump or DeSantis supporter do not see that possibility is beyond me when we see it happening right before our eyes. Agree, Trump seems oblivious to this.

243 But sadly, debt data and bond markets bore most citizens.

This is why the majority of invisibly taxed and intentionally enslaved American serfs probably haven’t noticed that the US Treasury Department’s quarterly net-borrowing estimates for the second half of 2023 just came out, and that number is a sickening $1.85 TRILLION.

Read that again. $1.85T in 6 months.

This is openly ignored madness. Our experts having officially lost their minds.

We are talking about nearly 2000 billion (or 2 million millions) of new debt to be created/issued in the span of months, the implications of which are staggering.

This is especially scary when you add Powell’s 525 basis point rate hikes into the borrowing equation, which only makes the interest-expense of this appalling debt (cess) pool beyond payable without, well…more debt creation.

So, there you have it, American monetary genius: “We can solve a debt problem with more debt.”

The GOP, besides being lazy, corrupt and greedy, are also profoundly unserious, foolish nincompoops. They understand nothing, and believe the gravy train will chug along forever. The older ones like Mitch, when they aren't shitting their pants, anyway, know better - but they will be dead by the time it grinds to a halt.

The day will come when the Party decides it no longer needs or wants the silly pretense of politics anymore, and then GOP will be dispensed with just like the Mensheviks were.

292 My worry is how, and this is the whole point of why Democrats are doing it because i think they believe they might lose, on day 1 through day 1,460 Trump is going to again have to serve out his presidency spending every day fighting bullshit charges.

God forbid he fire the people who have broken the law to destroy him, that'll just be new bs charges.

Even a GoP win under Trump only equates a GoP stalemate, and while it's obviously not fair in the slightest, it's going to be what happens.

I think another GoP president who could win and then pardon Trump is positioned better to actually run the country and undo the destruction Obama's 3rd them has done to us.

I don't like what's happening to Trump, it's easily the most unamerican thing to ever happen in presidential politics, probably right behind partnering with British and Russian spies to destroy a presidency, but it's irreparably hurt Trump even if he wins, and id rather he know that and play kingmaker, instead of salting the earth so that if he doesn't win there primary he creates "OnlyTrumpers" who secure a win for Biden. The old wisdom was a movie needed to make 2x its cost to break even when everything was factored in. But ive never seen a movie that had printed itself this much. Not Star Wars, not the Marvel movies, none of them.

Im not doubting the movie broke even, but I wouldn't be surprised if $1 billion on a $150 million budget doesn't actually end up as the success they'll act like it is, especially with all the other failures it needs to make up for.

In contrast I've seen pretty much no purinton for Oppenheimer outside of people joking about Oppenheimer memes.

Remember when people didn't have to pay rent and couldn't be evicted during covid? So those landlords are now trying to collect the money they couldn't then with higher rents, and evict the people who *still* don't wanna pay rent.

There have been some major problems in Philly recently with evictions. Apparently the 'evictors' have to be re-educated in how to 'de-escalate' situations. That's all. More education.

One of his biggest faults and weaknesses is that to Republicans he demands 100% loyalty and will work to destroy you if you don't completely bow to him, but only if he sees you as a rival. If you do it while working for him he'll do nothing and allow you to continue to destroy him from the inside.

The opposite goes for Democrats. You can be 100% against him and try to destroy him, but if you say "Trump had a nice tan today" or since other ego boosting comment, he'll completely upend his own agenda and start giving you everything you want.

His ego can be his biggest asset, but it's certainly one of his biggest faults.

368 Interesting second order effect of the Baltimore mass shooting over a month ago.

Brooklyn Homes is an affordable housing development run by the city.

Seems that multiple residents were running power cords from their homes to power things like the bounce houses and other power consuming party devices, and the bill gets paid by the taxpayers.

So the housing authority has suddenly discovered that there have always been rules for the residents, and are now threatening eviction for those who moving forward refuse to live by the rules.

And folks are losing their ever loving minds over the concept of personal responsibility in public housing.

I don't know why anyone is surprised that Trump is being Trump. We saw exactly how he dealt with primary opponents in 2016. It's going to make a fortune for everyone involved. Movie cost around $100 million. Marketing was probably at least that. Add some to be generous and it's $250 billion. It has brought in 4x that, with no end in sight. Unlike most movies, the producer/distributor won't get the whole thing because Mattel is going to get a decent chunk of it, too - but there are going to be YUGE and luxurious profits off this movie.

And I hope it pulls a "Star Wars" and it's all sliding down from here, with less and less to be made before staggering losses accumulate for Mattel.

Balkanization also only works if you make sure get a majority of the electoral votes.

Moving in to FL and Texas is good for Florida and Texas, but if people are moving from purple states it ends up hurting us overall (also Dems lie on the census so they'll never lose the correct amount of congressmen or votes to make those Red states stronger)

What Republicans need to do is start moving in to GA, NC, AZ and NV from solidly blue states like Orgeron, Washington, CA and NY. Create an exodus that turns those states 100% blue, but to the point they are completely worthless to the Dems, since they were states they were getting anyway.

Then Republicans can work to make those new red states uninhabitable for Dems.

And if you don't think that they'll 100% do it if the court overturns a Trump conviction, and this time will have the support of probably a marjory of the public, then you're being naive and blindly choosing Trump over the betterment of the country.

Even if people aren't 100% in favor of Trump being persecuted, most people believe in the outcomes of a trial, because the idea ther facts are given and normal people decide the results based on those facts. The majority of the public may not support Trump being prosecuted, but a majority will also believe the outcome is just, and if they see a court just overturning it (especially with the BS spin the media will give it) they will turn on Trump and any conservative causes.

406 That's not an issue...it's a selling point. It's what the Left has used in ALL its campaigns to successfully move the ball their way, inch by inch, and why only the most fervent right-wing success stories (gun control) mimic the no compromise attitude.

407 2/ Continued - "...mask up in the dead of night a century and a half ago. And when Trump faced the crisis of losing the 2020 election to Biden, those legitimate votes that he and his cronies demanded not be counted were overwhelmingly Black votes, in big cities like Philadelphia and Detroit and Atlanta. When that failed, he urged the mob to descend on the capitol-just like the hooded terrorists of 1870."

So there's their 2024 Presidential theme...extreme racist Trump & his party (also remember the South Carolina connection is also an obstacle with the death of 9 people during the Charleston church shooting in 2015) and Bidenomics and now, as Crazy K put it, Omics is working and our roads and bridges will be repaired and every lead pipe in the nation replaced, and not just the rich will prosper...as promised since O&Joe's 1st administration. And in 2012, even the Democrats laughed @ O&Joe and said, "It's the economy, (again) stupid," & yet it wasn't even a decent horserace with McCain in the presidential campaign, they rode in boldly for a second shot at f**king up the country.

Does Trump have an option not to fight back? It's really bigger than him. (Continued)

408 #3 - Lastly, Trump knew or was it Trump's fantasy about 1/6?

NOW Trump knew but let's go back a few years to, for example: CNN Business, @Reliable Sources: Trump's new fantasy: "They're going to decertify this election" (04:24 video)

"Brian Stelter and Will Bunch analyze Donald Trump's unhinged claim that an unnamed entity will "decertify" his 2020 election loss. ... Bunch says it is another instance of the "symbiotic relationship between right-wing media and right-wing politicians."

So not racist at that time either. Just simply unhinged.

And AoSHq shall remain a 'big tent' family; the best.

Peace.

409 Congratulations on sounding exactly like the GOP establishment for the last 50 years admonishing us conservatives for the exact same shit. "We just gotta win so STFU".
The left has been after the court for decades and were talking about stacking long before Trump.

Again more GOP establishment thinking on your part worrying what the "majority of the public" will think(let me guess, undecided or independents) and "the media will spin and turn on Trump and any conservative causes". You mean like they've been doing before Trump? You make no g-damn sense!

You live in an alternate reality bud.

411 There have been some major problems in Philly recently with evictions. Apparently the 'evictors' have to be re-educated in how to 'de-escalate' situations. That's all. More education.

412 Regarding the so-called 11th Commandment, the Republican Party can kiss my pimply ass.

They're too comfortable taking money from people who hate our Constitution.

They refused to support Trump, Reagan, or Goldwater when their support could have saved us from disasters.

They can all go to blazes. With bells on strumming a Ukranian tune on a bouzouki.

If they don't change course between now and Christmas, My family will stay home on election day and play Trivial Pursuit. Which is just as useful as voting for people like McConnell, Cornyn, McCarthy, or most of the rest of the slovenly anal sphincters.

415 As always JJ, I respect your position and will vehemently disagree and call you out, should I take umbrage to your words.

I think you struck a fair balance with today's Morning Report. While I agree to a good degree, we are talking also about two candidates in completely different positions. One is wanting to be president while the other is fighting for his very existence, along with what's left of Originalists America.
