Sefton: sefton at cutjibnewsletter.com | Devon Archer: Hunter Biden Wouldn't "Overtly" Say That He'd Use His Dad's Power to Help His "Business" Associates, But That's Clearly What He Was Suggesting to Them"It appears that the House Republicans' own much-hyped witness today testified that he never heard of President Biden discussing business with his son or his son's associates, or doing anything wrong," White House spokesperson Ian Sams told Fox News Digital. "House Republicans keep promising bombshell evidence to support their ridiculous attacks against the President, but time after time, they keep failing to produce any." But Fox News Digital has obtained the transcript of Archer's testimony, and there's really no way to spin it as anything but damning. According to the transcript, Archer testified that Hunter Biden used his "very powerful name" to "add value" in pitching and securing foreign business ventures. But Hunter was sly about it: he wouldn't "overtly" say that he'd use his dad as leverage. "Defensive leverage that the value is there in his work," Archer explained. "The value that Hunter Biden brought to it was having--you know, there was--the theoretical was corporate governance, but obviously, given the brand, that was a large part of the value," Archer continued. "I don't think it was the sole value, but I do think that was a key component of the value." Archer testified that Hunter put his father, then-Vice President Joe Biden, on speakerphone during meetings with their business partners at least 20 times to sell "the brand." "Obviously, that brought the most value to the brand," Archer said. "It was Hunter Biden and him." When questioned about whether Archer and Hunter Biden would convey to their business partners that they had "unique access" due to Biden's position, Archer concurred. "Yes, we would say we had unique understanding of D.C. and how it operates and how that, you know, could positively reflect on the terms of our business."This is how Devon Archer talks: He won't just admit "yes I was in the business of selling access to Joe Biden to the Chinese and Ukrainians," but if you put it to him less starkly, he admits that was his whole business. He also says Hunter Biden "leveraged" Joe Biden for millions of dollars. In his bombshell testimony, Devon Archer told Congress he considered former business partner Hunter Biden to be a "lobbyist" who leveraged a "very powerful name" to score millions in deals with foreign oligarchs and businesses, including a Ukrainian energy firm that was seeking protection from corruption probes and other legal woes, according to the official transcript released Thursday. ... In the case of the Ukrainian-based Burisma Holdings -- one of Hunter Biden's most controversial clients -- the Biden brand brought a sense of protection from legal threats and investigations that the energy company was facing, Archer stated.Below, Tucker Carlson reads a note that Joe Biden wrote to one of Hunter's "business" partners, in which Biden first humblebrags that he "can't get away from" Chinese Preident Hu, but says he looks forward to meeting with the "business" partner and adds "I'm happy that you (Hunter and the "business" partner) are together." Devon Archer admits that "Hunter Biden abused 'soft power.'"

For the most part, spy agencies actively seek out damaged people for their direct action. It is far easier for an intel agency to turn sociopaths (with the occasional psychopath) with dissociative properties into agents because essentially the agency and its requests become the substitute morality system.

Posted by: I used to have a different nic at August 04, 2023 12:14 PM (1Z8zZ) ++++ Yup. Money, like everything, has diminishing marginal utility. Each additional new dollar isn't worth very much when tossed on the pile. At a certain point, money becomes about scorekeeping. What I think of as "scorekeeper" rich starts at around $25 million. That's me. Others are different and have different levels. But everyone has a threshold. After a point, what does more money get you other than a higher score? Some people love that high score and that's enough. They want more to keep winning on those terms. Others look at it differently, and they pivot to power. Or sex. Or drugs. Or whatever that now useless (in terms of marginal utility) money can buy. Posted by: Joe Mannix (Not a cop!) at August 04, 2023 12:23 PM (t0OGg) 96
Rudy Giuliani could make the racketeering case (RICO?), which as I understand it, involves chowing the repeated pattern.
The evidence is real, even if there is no direct admission, just a ton of winks and nods, with the benefit always going to the one providing the bribes, and no other apparent work done for the bribe money. 108 What is amazing to me is that conservatives are in the majority. We are willing to back this up by using our money to back products and services we like. Yet, a news outlet like Fox is willing to give up their market share for the minority on the left. Like Budweiser. Like Target.
But, where are the companies willing to not give in to the lefts mass hysteria? Why is there no news station wanting to cash in on this inverted situation. Why does Disney keep making Woke movies that lose money? Who are they trying to please? This ust makes no sense. The presidency and vice presidency have been grifts for a long time. Look at the last 20 years or so and oddly, you'll find a lot of those people who entered the White House poor, or of modest means and cashed in. That was generally done through book deals and speeches, essentially paid for by donors and supporters. That was bad enough, and should have been stopped long ago. But this is worse, as it sold access and favors to foreign nationals. That compromises the entire government and allows nefarious actors o undermine our country. This is what happens when mouth breathing, unethical, evil idiots get in on the grift. It ends badly for all of us due to their insatiable greed and corruption. Idea should not only be impeached, he should be publicly flogged. This is a blatant, arrogant corruption of our government and undermines the republic.

I don't know how it will turn out yet as the corruption of our justice system, unethical bias and insatiable political meddling of Democrats seems to have no limits. But I am starting to feel that going after Trump by corrupting the entire federal government and judicial system is going to be Democrats undoing. Even the most pedestrian observer can see that if they do this to Trump, in an attempt to limit your basic rights, liberties and choice of who you want to govern, that doesn't end well for anyone. There are no restraints on a government who uses its power against the people and they will do anything at will to force or coerce your behavior. That's no longer a democratic republic, its unadulterated tyranny.

iirc, in the 90's most BigCorps made a lot (most) of their profits off their finance division.
/- That’s airlines right now. They’re basically banks who happen to have planes that move people around. And to a lesser extent that’s how the Big 3 operated for a long time. The money don’t come from selling cars, they make money from the loans people take out to buy cars. Posted by: Montec at August 04, 2023 12:51 PM (z/++h) 243
Those politicians who want to eliminate the Second Amendment, which holds that Americans have the constitutional right to keep and bear arms, have a long road ahead of them. Two-thirds of each the House and Senate, then three-quarters of the state legislatures. No problemo! Ever notice that leftists always want to limit rights specifically not subject to abridgement (free speech, right to bear arms) but all the phony-baloney rights they come up with (abortion, health care) are absolute? @198: "... corporations are increasing prices beyond... "
There's also a phenomenon where companies avoid frequent incremental price increases in the short term and ding people one time a little harder in the long term. There's usually a little padding in that final increase based on projections. It happens in competitive markets where no one seller wants to be the first to budge. Seems like the western elite are skimping on the 'protection' part of the bargain.
(Overall, I agree with your thesis though.) Posted by: Aetius451AD ---------- Elites in the past commonly used outsiders as a means of repressing their citizens and then after the outsider's usefulness was needed no longer--they withdrew protection. In this case, they are intentionally stirring up chaos in the west to impoverish the existing middle class in countries and stir up cries by many to crack down on civil disorder by any means. Unlike high feudalism, our modern elites eschew religion altogether because they view themselves as demi-gods at least until they get immortality. 4 shot at city-sponsored anti-gang-violence event in South Los Angeles Four people were shot, including one who was critically wounded, during a city-sponsored event to reduce gang violence Thursday night in the Vermont-Vista neighborhood of South Los Angeles. Officers were monitoring the Summer Night Lights event at the Algin Sutton Recreation Center in the 8800 block of South Hoover Street when shots were fired around 11 p.m., a Los Angeles Police Department spokesperson said. The Summer Night Lights event operates in more than 40 Los Angeles area parks and recreation centers to promote anti-gang violence and turn them into safe havens for families. A deadly shooting occurred at another Summer Night Lights event just weeks ago. On July 27, 46-year-old Jose Refugio Quezada was fatally shot leaving an event at the Wilmington Recreation Center.
