Devon Archer: Hunter Biden Wouldn't "Overtly" Say That He'd Use His Dad's Power to Help His "Business" Associates, But That's Clearly What He Was Suggesting to Them

"It appears that the House Republicans' own much-hyped witness today testified that he never heard of President Biden discussing business with his son or his son's associates, or doing anything wrong," White House spokesperson Ian Sams told Fox News Digital. "House Republicans keep promising bombshell evidence to support their ridiculous attacks against the President, but time after time, they keep failing to produce any."
But Fox News Digital has obtained the transcript of Archer's testimony, and there's really no way to spin it as anything but damning.
According to the transcript, Archer testified that Hunter Biden used his "very powerful name" to "add value" in pitching and securing foreign business ventures. But Hunter was sly about it: he wouldn't "overtly" say that he'd use his dad as leverage.
"Defensive leverage that the value is there in his work," Archer explained. "The value that Hunter Biden brought to it was having--you know, there was--the theoretical was corporate governance, but obviously, given the brand, that was a large part of the value," Archer continued. "I don't think it was the sole value, but I do think that was a key component of the value."
Archer testified that Hunter put his father, then-Vice President Joe Biden, on speakerphone during meetings with their business partners at least 20 times to sell "the brand."
"Obviously, that brought the most value to the brand," Archer said. "It was Hunter Biden and him."
When questioned about whether Archer and Hunter Biden would convey to their business partners that they had "unique access" due to Biden's position, Archer concurred. "Yes, we would say we had unique understanding of D.C. and how it operates and how that, you know, could positively reflect on the terms of our business."

This is how Devon Archer talks: He won't just admit "yes I was in the business of selling access to Joe Biden to the Chinese and Ukrainians," but if you put it to him less starkly, he admits that was his whole business.

He also says Hunter Biden "leveraged" Joe Biden for millions of dollars.

In his bombshell testimony, Devon Archer told Congress he considered former business partner Hunter Biden to be a "lobbyist" who leveraged a "very powerful name" to score millions in deals with foreign oligarchs and businesses, including a Ukrainian energy firm that was seeking protection from corruption probes and other legal woes, according to the official transcript released Thursday.

In the case of the Ukrainian-based Burisma Holdings -- one of Hunter Biden's most controversial clients -- the Biden brand brought a sense of protection from legal threats and investigations that the energy company was facing, Archer stated.

Below, Tucker Carlson reads a note that Joe Biden wrote to one of Hunter's "business" partners, in which Biden first humblebrags that he "can't get away from" Chinese Preident Hu, but says he looks forward to meeting with the "business" partner and adds "I'm happy that you (Hunter and the "business" partner) are together."

As I mentioned in the sidebar, every admission with this influence-peddler is pulling teeth, but if you phrase the question so he doesn't sound so much like a useless almost-traitor, he does admit the obvious.

I recall, some time back, there was a study which concluded that humans were "programmed" to believe in God and, therefore, if they lost their faith it had to be replaced with something else. I'm sure we talked about it here.

I imagine that humans are also "programmed" to desire royalty. When we, theoretically, got rid of hereditary royals we had to come up with something else so have "betters" and they're always permitted their special privileges.

I agree totally. Pensions and the threat to them is how governments force compliance on their workforces and it attracts a particular sort of person. Plus, government pensions end up insulating government workers from the general economy that everyone else has to face. Some localities and states have already moved to matching funds to 403b retirement funds instead of pension. And that is the 401k equivalent for gubmint.

Yup. Money, like everything, has diminishing marginal utility. Each additional new dollar isn't worth very much when tossed on the pile. At a certain point, money becomes about scorekeeping. What I think of as "scorekeeper" rich starts at around $25 million. That's me. Others are different and have different levels. But everyone has a threshold. After a point, what does more money get you other than a higher score? Some people love that high score and that's enough. They want more to keep winning on those terms.

Others look at it differently, and they pivot to power. Or sex. Or drugs. Or whatever that now useless (in terms of marginal utility) money can buy.

More like people in general had to be somewhat sociable and that implied a hierarchy because someone had to maintain coherence in the group. Despotism is the natural consequence in a state of nature and it happens because most people simply don't care about leading others--they just want to live their lives.

The don't cares eventually enable a whole society of users above them that we call 'elites'. The best of them have noblisse oblige obligations. The worst of them see people as property or resources to be mined.

iirc, in the 90's most BigCorps made a lot (most) of their profits off their finance division. Not sure they were banks exactly, or just financing their own products. But such services became bigger than actual (American?) production.
