The Morning Report — 8/2/23

mikeponce.jpg

Good morning, kids. And so what amounts to perhaps the most serious indictment against Trump, claiming he incited an insurrection, was handed down yesterday. By a prosecutor whose wife directed a propaganda film about Michelle Obama. With a judge who threw the book at people who did nothing more serious than "trespass" while escorted by police. And what a coincidence; on the very same day that Devon Archer confirmed Sponge-Brain Shits-Pants Biden as one of the biggest crooks in American political history.

Not to worry thought because the American criminal justice system and our collective fealty to the Constitution will win out in the end, right?

George Washington University law professor Jonathan Turley said Smith issued “the first criminal indictment of alleged disinformation.” “If you take a red pen to all of the material presumptively protected by the First Amendment, you can reduce much of the indictment to haiku,” he said. “I felt that the Mar-a-Lago indictment was strong. This is the inverse.”

Turley also said on Fox News the indictment is “unfair at points,” noting that it “quotes Trump in his speech about encouraging people to go to Capitol Hill, but like the January 6th committee, it omits where he says, ‘you should go peacefully.'”

The indictment states that Trump “had a right, like every American, to speak publicly about the election and even to claim, falsely, that there had been outcome-determinative fraud during the election and that he had won” but then states he “also pursued unlawful means of discounting legitimate votes and subverting election results.”

Lawyer and Townhall columnist Kurt Schlichter called the indictment “45 pages of First Amendment protected activity.” “It’s 45 pages of First Amendment protected activity broken up by four captions listing conspiracy statutes that do not apply,” he tweeted. “It’s not a conspiracy to use free speech and attempt to participate in the political system no matter how badly our garbage elite wants it to be.”

Two things. First I disagree with Turley's perception of the Mar-a-Lago indictment as "strong" since Trump had the right to possess and declassify the documents as per his right as president. It's "strong" only insofar as the corrupted judicial system and its apparatchiks could care fuck all about that rather not insignificant little detail. There is quibbling about his handling of those materials vis a vis allegedly waving them at people with no security clearances and such, but that too is debatable as to what he actually did or did not do.

Then there's friend of the blog Kurt Schlichter's comment highlighted above. He's absolutely right, yet given the fact of what this nation has devolved into and who is running it, he's absolutely wrong. The fact that he's being railroaded like this is proof positive that the rule of law, the Constitution and all the rest are mere window dressing and bunting decorating the gallows onto which Trump will be swinging from.

As Edmund Burke or John Stuart Mill quipped “The only thing necessary for the triumph of evil is for good men to do nothing.” True, but that presupposes that we actually have "good men." With that, I give you Mike Pence:

“Today’s indictment serves as an important reminder: anyone who puts himself over the Constitution should never be President of the United States,” Pence said in a statement. “I will have more to say about the government’s case after reviewing the indictment.”

. . . Smith’s indictment alleges Trump told Pence, “you’re too honest,” when Pence told Trump he believed there was no constitutional authority for the vice president to “reject or return votes to the states.”

Pence claimed in his statement, “Our country is more important than one man,” adding, “Our constitution is more important than any one man’s career.”

He's good. As in good for nothing. You bastard. You execrable fucking piece of shit mutt bastard. How many people want to bet that Mike Pence will be called as a witness for the prosecution?

The country has been overthrown, and whether or not Pence could have at least stopped the certification of the Electoral College results on January 6th, 2021, which considering the at best dubious and highly contested circumstances of the election results he had every legal and Constitutional authority and right to do, he abrogated that responsibility. Remember; this is not crying over spilled milk or mere sour grapes. The 2020 election results were compromised and there was a mountain of evidence that at a bare minimum cast major doubts on it.

As I've said before, there are sins of commission and sins of omission. Pence and everyone who should have done everything in their power to stop the steal. Even if it was a fait accompli they didn't even try. Now we know they didn't even want to. And this abject scumbag, after what he did to us has the unmitigated temerity to say “Our country is more important than one man,” adding, “Our constitution is more important than any one man’s career.” ?!

Regardless of who you support as a candidate, which presupposes that the coming election will be as honest as the day is long, above board and typical of every other past election, and regardless off what you feel about him on a personal level, if you abandon Trump in this situation, you are surrendering to the evil criminals who stabbed us in the face and hijacked the nation.

Elections be damned. On to the next phase.

  • "Is there some sort of kickback or business deal tied to the ban on incandescent light bulbs? Possibly. I certainly wouldn’t put it past our elected and appointed officials to game the system. MRCTV has reported on Energy Secretary Jennifer Granholm’s connections with the EV industry, and we know that the Biden administration is in bed with the solar industry. But overall, I suspect that this is being done because it can be done. This is one more rule, one more law, one way to remind you that there is nothing that the Uniparty can’t control, even if it means something as small as your light bulbs."

We occasionally rib Mark Levin for screaming, but old yeller was spot on yesterday when this news came: Jack Smith just destroyed our electoral system. And Levin laid out all the incestuous relationships between the prosecutors and judges in DC. They all flow back to Eric Holder and James Comey…. IOW, Barky and deep state.

BTW… Vivek is the ONLY GOP candidate (other than DJT of course) who made a strong statement in response. The rest were full of weasel words including a certain FL Governor who always seems to want it both ways (it’s becoming a pattern there sadly). Of course, super Christian Pence was the worst. I loathe that guy in particular…

Pence is correct here, but somehow we ended up with Biden (and Obama) anyway, whose main affect on our country is/was to destroy constitutional restraints on power.

Trump had to be removed because he was respecting our God-given rights protected by the Constitution and that is a problem for totalitarians.

35 Who *should* hold that particular ceremonial sinecure, Mike-O?

It's not as if it holds any power. The throne of Great Britain is more relevant than the US Presidency. Any drooling idiot can manage, and they do.

And it's not as if anyone in DC has more integrity than, say, Cardi B. Just more credentials. Prostitutes who drug and rob their johns sometimes go on to produce hit songs about their wet-ass pussies, and while I question the value of her creative output, it's still more of an accomplishment than *any* of you seat-fillers have ever achieved.

Politicians pretending that holding office is some kind of higher calling annoys me a whole lot. It very nearly pegs out my bullshit detector. But not quite. To do that, these godless, heathen creatures have to smarmily invoke their nonexistent faith. Which Mike Pence *always* loves to do.

79 You nailed it, JJ. You always do. Thank you for being consistent and a voice for us plebs who have gotten such a raw deal these past 2-3 years.
We ask ourselves everyday, what is to be done? Who knows now. The people in government we used to look to for integrity and vigilance have become a party of hollow words, empty suits and donor whores.
They sat on their hands while MAGA was branded a racist movement, never speaking out in our defense but then tripping over themselves to be on a podium near Trump, when they felt appearances mattered. Whether their last name be Barr, Kemp, McConnell, Pence or Ryan, they are all cut from the same cheap fabric. Con Men, the whole lot of them!
So thank you again for giving us voice in these internet spaces. It gives me momentary peace in this bizzaro landscape we now live in.

80 Calvin Coolidge was a great president IMHO. When I read his bio a few years ago I was amazed what a smart and humble guy he was. The secret to his success was his humility: he was smart enough to know he shouldn’t try to run things himself…. Very few presidents (if any) since then have had that wisdom.

I know you don't really want to know, but screw it.

At the beginning of the world cup, each team is put into a group with 3 other teams. The team will play one game against the other teams. Winning a game gives you 3 points in the standings, tying gives you 1, and a loss 0. Top 2 out of the group advance to the standard tournament style rounds (win and advance, lose and go home).

125 I think the effort behind all the indictments on Trump is still to keep him off the ballot in '24. Some have said that's not possible, Constitutionally, but that rag no longer applies in political circles and certainly not in legal ones.

If Trump is indicted on any/all charges currently stacked up on him there will be a push from FedGov for states to keep his name off their ballots. Recall that nearly every government agency now has a 'role' to play in national elections so they can, if they want, enforce this. Successfully is debatable.

Whatever the case, Trump will likely run as a write-in, 3rd party, whatever. He'll also likely come in 2nd to whomever the left wants to install in the White House with the GOP candidate a distant third.

If that comes to fruition it'd be a sweet kick in the crotch for the GOP.

Really, the game is too long. The end is exciting, b/c no one is holding anything back on the exertion front (finally). If they broke it into (4) 10 minute quarters with 5 minutes b/w quarters, there'd be a lot more attack and counter attack. A lot less possession.

Could also add a "once you've moved the ball beyond the midline, you can't kick it back to the goalie" rule.

They give off heat. In my kitchen I was really glad to put in LED's. Working in there with six of those little heaters a foot and a half off my scalp was not pleasant in the spring, summer, and fall.

Also, the total of 6 50 watt incandescent = 300 watts per hour
The total of the equivalent LED's = 60 watts per hour

In the long run a decent savings on your electric bill. Another big plus is they last a long, long time. If you have them in locations where the bulb is hard to change you'll be grateful you might never have to replace them again.

And it's utterly, completely and absolutely irrelevant-- they have raped and tortured the law into a abominable perversion that has no interest in justice. That is the only issue now.

This is not about Trump, this doesn't end with Trump: They are coming for you and me--all of us.
Are you really so stupid to think they won't throw your ass in jail on January 21, 2025 for insurrection because you posted on Facebook that Biden didn't win?
"Fraud against the government" for saying things the government deems false? There is no limit to who can be jailed under that standard.

Soccer would be more exciting if it were hockey.

Was in a restaurant with the wife and FiL the other day. They had a WWC game on and I happened to glance at the TV. They were in a delay as one of the players was shot by a sniper, apparently. They huddled around the wounded for several minutes before bringing out the stretcher. As the stretcher approached to remove the wounded from the battlefield, she got up and walked off the field under her own power.

They added 12+ minutes of 'stoppage time.'

This is not a sport......it's shit.

I would hope that they are just waiting for most of the coming federal indictments to drop. Because even if they take this specific case, garland is going to keep issuing indictments forever in an effort to bankrupt trump and his campaign.

And remember, these are criminal indictments not civil ones, with few exceptions trump has to personally appear in court for most of the hearings.

400 Really, the game is too long.

One anecdote from WWII that stuck with me came from the Japanese in the Philippines. Per the story, the Japanese were on patrol after the landings and came across a trail used by GIs. Among the detritus in their wake, there was a foil gum wrapper that some soldier had dropped during the march. One of the men on the patrol picked it up, looked at it closely, and started to weep.

Not only did the Americans still have niceties like chewing gum, they were so obscenely rich that they could wrap it in a precious commodity like metal.

2. Trump lost to a concerted, criminal conspiracy to defraud voters. Remember back when everyone gushed about DeSantis taking steps to clean up voting in Florida? Well, that didn't happen everywhere else and Trump had no mechanism to force it.

451 Good morning, all, and thanks, J.J.

Pence, co-starring in the Alexandra Pelosi's 1/6 video production with Nancy and Chuck, was enough for me.
The rest is predictable bullsh*t. For instance, where's Key Witness Cassidy Hutchinson, who was also supposed to be at Mar-A-Lago but wasn't? Hiding with a "security team" after her Jan. 6th testimony. But on July 16, it was reported (Daily Progress) she signed a book deal.

Sgt (former?) Gonell's July testimony & he's looking for a book deal too. July 12th, reported by multiple sites, Ray Epps "forced from his home" was suing Fox for fantastical story, but then July 13 (MSNBC) Deadline: Legal Blog, "Ray Epps say he'll be charged for Jan. 6, further dampening Fox New conspiracy theory." Did that happen?

There's "A House Divided" a documentary from John Legend's Get Lifted prodco, with 1/6 film by Jade Sacker, exploring U.S. political rift through adopted (Sullivan) brothers. What else? A bunch of people who retired from the National Archives. More & different pictures from Mar-A-Lago estate of boxes allegedly containing "classified documents," some that had fallen and spilled on the floor, seeming staged.

452 If you start from the assumption that Pence is a demonic enemy of Christ, his actions make a lot of sense. This has been my operating assumption since he first made clear that he is an enemy of Christians in America during his RFRA row as Governor. He made this doubly clear when one of his first acts as VP was to undermine Trumps entire presidency in insisting on Trump getting mired in a nonsense scandal within a month or so (Flynn) of becoming President, which ended up with Trump being bogged down with crap, rather than fulfilling promises. Pence then led the COVID task force that ended up with people being locked in their homes and banned from going to church (and pretty much everywhere else). Pence is pure evil.

453 @449 Ordinary American-Statements like that come from 40+ years of experience watching GOP politicians conform to whatever is popular with the anti-establishment within the party which has always been conservatives. From Goldwater, Reagan, to the Class Of 94', the Tea Party and then Trump. Problem is the GOP learned from Reagan adopted his conservative vernacular and infested the Class Of 94'. Same with the Tea Party and now we have Trump. We've listened to these assholes and watched them govern both sounding and in most instances governing conservatively in their respective states only to completely shit the bed when it's time to step up. They ended up just being another cog in the GOP establishment machine. You don't think that it is valid to look at DeSantis or for that matter look at Trump the same way given some of the things he has said since throwing his hat in the ring again? Not so worried about Trump. He will not be the nominee and he will be taken off of a majority of states ballots.....he's toast and has been for a while just taking time for some of the AoS crowd to catch up.

Trump didn't help backing Ronna. Remember before the 22' mid-terms the battle cry besides the "red-wave' here was taking over the party....that didn't happen. Trump unfortunately cozied up to the GOP at the 16' convention. I believe he had no choice the same as DeSantis will have no choice. I believe it was whispered in DeSantis ear by the GOPe to run in 24' because they know Trump is history. Why not, they're in on it. IMO and others it had made no sense for DeSantis to run unless he was auditioning for VP. If DeSantis AND Trump were smart, this is what should happen. At this point the onus is on DeSantis supporters to convince Trump people he's the real deal. Lots of splainin' to do as to how he's going to beat the cheat and survive taking on a lawless Deep State and their political party grounded in a way that sounds grounded in reality and not fantasy.

464 Wisconsin Police 'Acting Like Thugs' Arrest Christians for Preaching at 'Trans' Event Targeting Children

Those politicians and police officers that carried out the illegal orders need to be sued, and hard.
I'd rather they be all lined up and hanged along main street as a warning to the rest of the leftist tyrants. I didn't see any warning in the video, just straight grab the mike and arrest the kid. What bullshit.

465 Pence is a total prick.

Light bulbs: "Energy Independence and Security Act of 2007" was pushed and signed by republicans. It outlawed IC bulbs, but then they issued a stay on those for a while.

Bush, Pence, McCain, Grahamnesty, et al. Globalist, multinational assholes who's political 'teams' are now helping DeSantis lose.
