Actually a bit gallows, but it does make sense. The fact that the donor tissue has tuberculosis means the donor was not screened. If the donor was not screened, that means they may not be 'willing.' A painful procedure iirc.
There are a lot of horrors lurking both out in the open, but just below the surface. Posted by: Aetius451AD Work Laptop at July 29, 2023 04:33 AM (zZu0s) 5

In gamey stuff, was playing Remnant 2 yesterday. Honestly, it might just be a smoother version of Remnant: From the Ashes. Same gameplay dynamics. Same desire to represent a Souls-Like with guns. Good execution and gun play. Updated graphics and I think the controls are a bit smoother this go around.
The devs definitely did a better job with advertising/marketing this time around. It was a good game before, but I only barely heard about and tried it out a year or so after the first one came out. This go around, it seems everyone is playing the game. Posted by: Aetius451AD Work Laptop at July 29, 2023 04:39 AM (zZu0s) Posted by: Puddleglum at work at July 29, 2023 04:42 AM (NsE9F) 8

We got .30 inches yesterday. Not much, but it helps. On the plus side, I was able to edge, trim, weed and mow the yard between the little sprinkles throughout the day. Even trimmed some of the branches back on the Crepe Myrtles, as those things can grow two foot in 10 days during flowering season. And Dixie and her five ducklings were waiting outside the garage door, and all quacking, chewing my ass for being gone for 12 days and not feeding them. Eh...that's life in the big city. Evening and morning, folken! It's odd, but the more time I have *off* from work, the less time I spend on the blog. Unintentional, I assure you. What's been happening aside from the herky-jerky dissolution of the USA?
I slept okay last night (thanks, melatonin). Yesterday evening we watched the Dungeons and Dragonsmovie with Chris Pine, and per Ace's recommendation, it is lighthearted and fun. A little long and a little too full of fight scenes, like most action films today, but that's offset by actual funny dialog and Pine's performance among others. It's not **DARK* and it has the courage not to take itself completely seriously while not being silly or campy. The "interrogating the dead" scene alone is a classic. Who thinks Pine could play Robert Wagner's signature role, Alexander Mundy the spy-thief, in a remake of It Takes a Thief? I guess they had to make the brakes electrified for the new tech of radar based cruise control. Say the speed limit is 45 mph. I set the cruise to that number but it maintains a safe braking distance from the car ahead. If that car begins to slow down my vehicle does, too. If we all come to a red light my vehicle will automagically slow down and come to a dead stop without my intervention. Posted by: Divide by Zero at July 29, 2023 07:26 AM (enJYY) 212

About a year ago, the dealer loaned use fully loaded Volvo with every safety feature known to mankind. Adaptive cruise control worked. Well, until we got onto the beltway. B'Moe drivers believe that if there is a car length gap between the front and rear car, there should be a car inserted into there. My '16 Buick does not have the adaptive slow-down tech. It has a warning flash if it thinks I'm approaching something without slowing; I've left that on, but I turned off the lane departure warning flash-and-chime. It rang at me when I'd change lanes, for God's sake. On a trip by night it might be useful to have on, as it would warn me if I start to drift out of my lane, but I don't want it in the city or most of the time.
Since I live in such a flat swamp, I have little use for the parking brake -- unless I happen to park on some kind of an incline in a parking lot, for example. And I do put it on when I leave the car running so I can air up the tires with my plug-in compressor. Otherwise the parking brake just sits there. Odd it was when I lived in Denver: I, the expatriate flatlander, was the only one I saw who turned his wheels when parking on a slope (toward the curb when downhill, away from the curb when uphill). You can find some really nice used WF binos on Ebay but many of them are out of alignment. It's not hard to fix that but you have to be willing to learn something new.
Also binos are collectable and most of the high quality vintage stuff is pretty marked up unless it has some kind of problem. I collected at a low level for a while when I was teaching myself how to optically align them. I would gift repaired ones to my friends . The best pair I ended up finding is a freak Japanese WF no name brand where all of the parameters came together for one assembly. It rivals the thousand dollar plus German ones in optical quality, especially for sky-watching. I have looked for another of the same brand for years without luck. They may have been scarfed up. - Yep. A friend has a brand new Honda and it will chime continuously if you don't wear a seatbelt. Not briefly and then shut off, but apparently then entire time you are on your two hour trip if you choose to not wear one. The other thing is that car manufacturers are required to shut their engines off after X number of seconds/minutes now, too. Which sounds fine until you realize that means you can't leave grandma in the car while you go in to get groceries because the car, and AC, will turn off after five minutes even if you left the key in the car and everything adjusted to prevent engine shut off.
