Totalitarian Democrats Attempt to Censor Robert F. Kennedy, Jr. During His Testimony on Censorship (Which Democrats Claim Is All Made Up Because No One's Being Censored by the Government)

Although several Democrats demanded that RFK, Jr. be silenced to prevent his "harmful speech," snaggletoothed Debbie Wasserman-Schultz -- last time I saw a mouth like that, it had a Quint in it -- was the nastiest and loudest.

All the Democrats then voted to block RFK, Jr. from testifying.

32 "Malinformation is info that is true but inconvenient to the government, that they don't want people to hear."
++++
Yup. CISA made this clear when they published their new guidance. For anyone who has forgotten or never knew it, here is the definition straight from CISA (Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency - an intelligence agency under DHS) :

Misinformation is false, but not created or shared with the intention of causing harm.
Disinformation is deliberately created to mislead, harm, or manipulate a person, social group, organization, or country.
Malinformation is based on fact, but used out of context to mislead, harm, or manipulate. An example of malinformation is editing a video to remove important context to harm or mislead.

The difference between "misinformation" and "disinformation" is a matter of opinion and judgement - CISA's judgement and is used to justify narrow to moderate levels of censorship.

"Malinformation" is the vague and arbitrary non-standard used to justify widespread censorship.

They've been steadily losing their ability to control the narrative since Rush. It's been ebbs and flows ever since with the Lewinsky affair being an earlier indicator that they couldn't control everything, but it's obvious that they have no control anymore.

Their last great effort was covid, and it worked remarkably well. It was the perfect combination of moral outrage and personal stakes, the sort of thing they'd been trying to gin up since they started on global warming in the 70s. But even then, there was massive resistance from the beginning that steadily ended up just winning out.

They shut down vote counting in six states to ballot box stuff like Tammany Hall not because they had total control of the narrative but because they've lost it completely. The narrative is entirely out of their hands. All they have is naked power, but that's far from nothing.

"I have a better record on Israel than anybody in this chamber today," he claimed before accusing the Biden administration of launching a "genocidal program" in making a $2 billion payout to Iran.

Kennedy insisted he was not against vaccinations despite having previously peddled a range of conspiracy theories and misinformation on public health issues.

Wasserman Schultz asked him to renege on another past statement, in which he invoked Nazi Germany when complaining about COVID-19 health restrictions, Kennedy fired back, "what you are saying is a lie."

Del. Stacey Plaskett (U.S. Virgin Islands) "my colleagues across the dais will rush to cover that they have Mr. Kennedy here because they want to protect his free speech, that they do not believe in American censorship," she said. But now that he's showing scepticism against a "vaccine" that they now admit they lied about, was never actual a vaccine, was held back for political purposes, and now we're learning wasn't fully tested, well that is crossing the line!

She's obviously in a district with new boundaries, so history is hard to determine, but she did win 2022 with 11%.

That feels like a minor "safe" Democrat district that actually isn't that safe. DeSantis did good forcing a strongly red map on Florida, and this district may pay some dividends, but I doubt she loses in 2024. Fingers crossed, though.

This ties into my earlier question about the difference between cultural institutions and culture.

If the media is pushing a narrative but no one buys it, do they control the narrative? If they push a narrative and have to cheat to win elections, do they control the narrative?

It seems to me that our cultural institutions are in an increasingly isolated bubble talking to themselves without much of an audience. So, when it comes to specifically the question of narrative control, I say: our cultural institutions have almost no control. Word gets out no matter what they do to suppress it and fewer people than ever take their word as truth.

245 > I just got a pricey new Samsung 5 smartwatch and that mfer is region locked for the middle east. Like 70% of the advertised smart features are disabled. WTF Amazon.

Amazon has had a BAD problem for a long time in which, at their warehouses, they group products by SKU, not source. So if they process a return from a sketchy third party source, it goes in the same bin as the genuine article straight from the manufacturer.

Auto parts and electronics have been especially bad, but this issue is gradually spreading out to all categories. Amazon is good about returns, so you don't hear about it all the time, but I personally know a guy who spent five figures on a "new" high end camera lens from Amazon and got a box with rocks in it.

America has a lot more guns in private hands, and the government only ever pays lip service to slowing that process down (more than a million new guns in private hands every month for something like 15 years now).

Actual oppression at regional levels from the federal government won't happen. It's just centrally emanating dictates that can only be best controlled through centrally maintained systems, like a social media network's servers. This is why where you live is going to be very important because most of the oppression imposed by government actually originates from state and local governments, not the feds.

Fun story:

I know a crew that put together a pretty successful Talking Heads tribute band. They were playing a gig in one town, and a guy from the original band was also in town that day and heard about their band, and asked if he could sit in with them. They normally fill a room, but that night they packed the joint out into the streets and around the block just on word of mouth alone. I think David Byrne was actually playing in a venue across the street that night, and nobody noticed. That part of the story may be apocryphal though...

Perhaps he and the rest of the MBA types running that company and it's marketing department will remember who their customer is and not try to alienate each and everyone of them for the benefit of 0.1% of the population. And the lesbian fan base, which is the core fanbase for women's soccer, would disappear.

Megan Rapinoe now supports trannies in women's soccer, but only as she is retiring.

Sorry but it's a zero-sum game.

Who controls the levers of power? That's it and that's all. Things of this nature may be building to a shift but as is, this government is far too corrupt and entrenched to fix.

Yup. They existed mostly on inertia, and now other cheap-ish crappy beers have that inertia. Even if they fired the entire C-Suite and hired Trump as the spokesman the lost sales aren't coming back.

When it gets to the point that it is clear they will never let a Republican win again, we can at least vote for whichever Dem wants to turn over the tables and provide the most entertainment.

...

Their problem is they've become a joke. I stopped to get a beer last Friday after work. Three guys sitting next to me, plumbers I'm guessing based on their conversation. One of them ordered a Bud Light, then they all laughed. "Just kidding." I don't think you can recover from that.

405 And if I may continue... This episode has gone way past the point where a "mea culpa" will be sufficient. Not even giving the beer away for free is helping. Reap, sow, etc.

407 @377 polynikes-positive actions and outcomes, battles won in a war is a good thing. Proclaiming in the middle(or whatever point we're at) in this war too often too much tends to breed complacency on our side. That's what I've observed over my lifetime of being a conservative. I remember Rush loudly proclaiming victory over the left in the early nineties. Even Rush eventually stopped doing that. We have called what the left is doing "the long slow march"(through our institutions) and it has been happening for over one hundred years. The fact that is continuing and appears to be speeding up does not go un-noticed by me. IMO we need to accept this and fight back accordingly. Difficult part is fighting back by voting is gone or only exists locally and even that is in peril be it from the establishment on our side or from the left.

That's where it always ends - and they always think it won't be them. And it always moves real fast at the end.

We are currently around 1770-73 in the colonies as people were getting more and more frustrated with the English Parliament and King George. The path is set - I also think 2024 is lost for the WH, but the Senate will flip, the math is just completely against the dems. Another chink in the armor. After 2024 the fighting will get very public and very intense. We will see if we can win the second American Revolution as well.
