Representative Biggs: As Much As $100 Million Flowed Into Biden Family Accounts from Overseas "Business Partners;" "This Looks More and More Sinister"
Miranda Divine: "All Roads Lead to Joe Biden"
Sinister is the right word.
Actually it's the left word.
Definition 4. And that also makes it the right word.
REP. ANDY BIGGS: People wonder, is Joe Biden basically compromised vis-a-vis the Chinese Communist Party which runs China of course? These things begin to look real, we're talking literally, it's not $10 million, it's well over 20, $30 million, some estimates as high as $100 million flowing through these accounts. We have to get to the bottom of it, but we're getting slow-walked ourselves from the administration obviously, and their partisans and their supporters. This looks more and more sinister, every time we look at it, and just if we could release the SARS (Suspicious Activity Reporting System) which we cannot, they're classified yet. Those suspicious activity reports will be corroborated by these whistleblowers tomorrow.
There are emails about Hunter Biden being very upset because he's having to support his whole family. Well, how is Hunter Biden supporting his whole family? He's got shell businesses, shell corporations that he is receiving money in, playing on his father's position, getting that money. He's not really doing anything for it, whether it be sitting on an energy company in which he has no business, or having no idea what energy's all about. It's corruption. I view the family as a crime syndicate because it isn't just the family itself, they've got satellites around them, helping them facilitate their transactions and so it's pretty massive, pretty deep. Quite frankly our federal investigative agencies, the line agents were working hard on this, they were being stymied by people at the top.
Yesterday's hearing included whistleblower testimony that foreign interests
poured $17 million in documented monies into Biden family bank accounts.
Comer argued Wednesday that the foreign payments were part of an "influence-peddling scheme to enrich the Bidens."
"Despite creating many companies after the vice president took office, the Biden family used associates companies to receive millions of dollars from foreign companies in China, Ukraine and Romania after foreign companies sent money to business associates companies," the Kentucky Republican said.
"The Bidens then received incremental payments over time to various different bank accounts. These complicated financial transactions were used deliberately to conceal the source of funds and total amounts. No normal business operates like this."
The whistleblowers also testified that the IRS investigators wanted to
access the geolocation data of Hunter Biden's phone when he sent his threatening WhatsApp text, stating "My father is sitting here right next to me."
They thought it would be a good idea to confirm that Hunter Biden was in fact at Joe Biden's house.
The DOJ blocked this obvious, normal line of inquiry:
The whistleblowers, Joseph Zeigler and Gary Shapley, testified before the House Ways and Means Committee that the DOJ, under the authority of U.S. Attorney General Merrick Garland, suppressed major aspects of agents' investigations into Hunter Biden. A WhatsApp message apparently sent by Hunter on July 30, 2017, threatened a Chinese business official by saying Joe Biden was sitting beside Hunter.
Zeigler, who testified about the message, told Republican Arizona Rep. Paul Gosar on Wednesday that investigators could not find the location of the message after communicating with assigned prosecutors. He said prosecutors allegedly put their guards up and immediately questioned its validity without any real investigation into the message.
"I recall them saying to me that 'how do we know that he's there? How do we know that that's true, the statement being made there?' And then I said 'well, we would get the location data.' So, as a part of my normal investigation, that's what I would do and what I can tell you is, I know I didn't do it, I don't know if the FBI ever ended up doing it, it was kind of like a 'let's wait or I need to think about it.'"
Shapley added prosecutors withheld information on Hunter Biden's laptop from investigators, which he said is an unprecedented practice. The investigators were only permitted to seeing bits and pieces of the computer while prohibited from many significant portions, according to the testimony.
We know from a picture recovered on Hunter Biden's laptop that he was in Joe Biden's precious Corvette that day -- so yes, he was couch-surfing at Daddy's on that day.
They also testified that Weiss decided to seek
felony charges against Hunter Biden for tax evasion in 2017-2019 -- but was thwarted by
Biden-appointed lawyers in California and DC. Note that US Attorneys can only bring charges in the jurisdiction they represent; so Weiss can only bring charges for crimes occurring in Delaware. Hunter was living in California and DC in 2017-2019, so that's where the tax evasion crimes were committed, and only a US Attorney with jurisdiction over those, um, jurisdictions can bring charges against him there.
That's why Republicans keep demanding a special counsel, who can bring charges anywhere.
Delaware US Attorney David Weiss was blocked from bringing tax fraud charges against Hunter Biden by his father's appointed US attorneys in California and Washington, DC, Shapley and Ziegler testified -- which would mean Attorney General Merrick Garland gave false statements about Weiss' independence.
The top Democrat on the Oversight Committee, Rep. Jamie Raskin of Maryland, argued there was a mere "misunderstanding" about what Weiss meant and that it was "his decision" not to charge Hunter in other jurisdictions after the Biden appointees persuaded him by stating their opposition.
Raskin contended that it appeared that "Mr. Weiss took a good hard look at those charges himself and ultimately decided not to charge them" -- prompting pushback from Shapley, who said investigators recommended misdemeanor and felony tax charges against Hunter for the five years from 2014 to 2019, most of which ultimately were not pursued.
"It was [Weiss'] decision, isn't that right, Mr. Shapley?" Raskin asked.
"No, that's not supported by the facts," the supervisory agent replied, referring to an Oct. 7, 2022, meeting at which Weiss allegedly told Shapley and five others that he lacked independent charging authority.
Biden's handpicked leftwing US Attorneys refused to bring charges, and Weiss, despite perjurious claims by Merrick Garland that he had "full authority" to bring charges wherever he thought necessary, could not bring those charges himself.
The statute of limitations then tolled for those charges, which, of course,
was the plan all along.
Powerline notes the would-be replacement for Adam Schiff scored an own goal. From Miranda Divine's newsletter:
Dan Goldman, smarmy heir to the Levi Strauss fortune, was supposed to be the Democrats' new hotshot hitman, stepping into the shoes of Adam "Shifty" Schiff. But he keeps shooting himself in the foot, or, more precisely, when it comes to playing Joe Biden's defacto defense counsel, letting the cat out of the bag.
That's what he did when he tried monstering IRS whistleblowers Gary Shapley and Joseph Ziegler at Wednesday's House Oversight Committee hearing. While trying to prove that their evidence actually exonerated Joe Biden from any knowledge of Hunter Biden's business affairs, he accidentally proved the opposite.
Goldman grilled Shapley about his testimony that Joe had stopped by a lunch with Hunter and his Chinese business partners at the Four Seasons Hotel in Washington, DC: "Hunter told his Dad that 'I may be trying to start a company or try to do something with these guys.'"
Goldman tried to downplay the meeting: "Now... that doesn't sound much like Joe Biden was involved in whatever Hunter Biden was doing with the CEFC, if Hunter Biden is telling him that he's trying to do business with them, does it?"
He was no match for Shapley: "But it does show that he told his father he was trying to do business, and he was talking to his father about the business."
Goldman started waving his arms around and talking over Shapley, but it was too late.
He had inadvertently illuminated the very truth he was trying to hide.
To be clear, Hunter Biden introduced Joe Biden to his "business" associates, then told Joe Biden he was planning to do "business" with these corrupt graft-mongers.
And Goldman elicited this statement in endeavoring to establish Joe Biden knew nothing about Hunter's "businesses," and never, ever spoke to him about his "businesses."
Miranda Divine said: "As The Post has pointed out since the first day of our coverage of this scandal, all roads from the Hunter Biden scandals lead to Joe Biden."
