The Sound of Freedom has made $100 million -- and counting -- on a $14 million budget. The public is embracing it because it dramatizes a horrific and huge problem, the trafficking of children for repulsively immoral purposes.

The leftwing media knows that p3dophiles and traffickers aren't the real villains, though.

The real villain is Angel Studios for exhibiting the film it acquired from Disney, rather than burying it, as Disney did.

Former Celebrity Lynda Carter decided to claim that a film about the extremely-well-documented global industry of child trafficking was all just a "conspiracy theory."

As you can see, she later deleted this smelly queef of a tweet.

Bloomberg reached out for an authoritative, impartial source to review the anti-child-trafficking, anti-p3dophile film... and chose Noah Berlatski, an actual advocate for p3dophiles.

Perfect. Just perfect, Bloomberg.

Noah Berlatski is the director of the unspeakable site "Prostasia," which claims to be an organization devoted to the protection of children -- but which is actually dedicated to the protection of p3dophiles who pray on children.

ShoeOnHead read through the site and its message boards so that you don't have to. And what she found was that, far from being a "child protection" organization, Prostasia's mission was to protect the feelings of p3dophiles, or "MAPs" -- "Minor-Attracted Persons" -- as it inevitably terms them.

In addition, the message boards are not filled with people talking about how they can protect children from p3dophiles, but rather filled with p3dophiles talking about what age-ranges of children they like to prey on. One says anything from "1-10" -- yes, one year old is old enough for this crew. They also exchange information about which countries have "rational" age-of-consent laws -- in other words, which countries have a low age of consent, or no age of consent, so that you can lawfully pay a pimp to have sex with a very young and sex-trafficked child.

Noah Berlatsky, the author of the piece, gives your typical liberal critique, using the piece more to attack Republicans than the movie itself, and smear all of us and, ironically, Hollywood, with a bunch of hooey about how child sex trafficking is mischaracterized and dramatized for political and dramatic effect. No doubt, at some level, that is true, because that happens with every issue in politics and movies. If you have ever watched a Hollywood movie that is "based upon real events" you know what I mean.
But that isn't much of a critique, and the QAnon smear is the real point. Pay no attention to the issue because it is overblown, he suggests. It is all about promoting fascism.

Scholar Robert Paxton argues that fascism is marked, among other things, by "cults of unity, energy, and purity" and that it pursues goals of "internal cleansing." The far right is motivated by myths of corrupted innocence and corruption avenged. You can see that in QAnon. But you can also see it in Hollywood's own trafficking narratives.
So, is Sound of Freedom a QAnon dog whistle, or is it just another thriller? The answer is that -- whatever the filmmaker's intentions -- it functions as both. These narratives do little to help victims. But they can create coalitions of feeling, disgust and righteous rage that connect conservative conspiracy theorists with the mainstream.

Well, we wouldn't want a movie producing feelings of revulsion against the p3dophiles who you're so enamored with, Noah.

We have a cop who worked the case on our team as well as a woman who won an Emmy for her documentary on the same case back in 2006. Her film "Have you seen Andy?" is available on HBO. Another collaborator wrote a book about the case that sold pretty well. There's this really bizarre effect that happens with NPCs where they'll apply their programming to similar situations in which, if they'd given it a moment's thought, the programming doesn't actually fit.

This movie is one of those situations. They were all programmed to think PIZZAGATE every time someone brought up child trafficking. Even though the movie is based on demonstrably true events, their programming overrides all.

I've given a lot of thought to this, because clearly, if you think that "there is no such thing as bad publicity", then the best course of action regarding something you don't want people to know about is to simply not talk about it. The next best course of action would be to give a measured, non-histrionic negative review as you suggest. And yet these people have to go straight to the apocalyptic "everyone I don't agree with is a white supremacist" stuff.

The best answer I can come up with is a religious one. These people can't just ignore "Sound of Freedom" as they simply ignore Comer's revelations about the Bidens. Biden isn't a cult leader or even particularly important. He's just a useful figurehead. Clearly, abusing young children is an article of faith, by contrast, and attacking it cuts to the very core of these people's beliefs.

But I did get a 2012 Specialized Roubaix Comp delivered today. Finally found a decent deal on a 61cm Bike.

Haven't had a Road Bike that fit me well for over a decade.

This country has traditionally been very inclined to prosecute or otherwise dispose of pedophiles and adjacent groomers, including straight ones. Maybe especially straight ones.
