Sefton: sefton at cutjibnewsletter.com | Country Music Television Pulls Song "Try That In a Small Town" From Its Rotation, Because The Song Criticizes Antifa and BLM RiotersI think it's time to make conservatives' divorce from the liberal, woke, cowardly corporate class final and irrevocable. Jason Aldean is defending his new controversial song and music video that was pulled by CMT, calling claims made against the track "not only meritless, but dangerous." After Aldean released "Try That In a Small Town" in May and its accompanying music video on Friday, it was criticized for promoting gun violence and taking aim at the Black Lives Matter movement. The track features the lyrics: "Cuss out a cop, spit in his face/Stomp on the flag and light it up/Yeah, ya think you're tough/Well, try that in a small town/See how far ya make it down the road." Aldean later sings on the song, "Got a gun that my granddad gave me/They say one day they're gonna round up/Well, that shit might fly in the city, good luck." The music video features the burning of the American flag, protests, looting and more. CMT, which is dedicated to country music videos, pulled the clip from its rotation on Monday. Aldean denied the allegations against his song in a tweet on Tuesday. "In the past 24 hours I have been accused of releasing a pro-lynching song ... and was subject to the comparison that I (direct quote) was not too pleased with the nationwide BLM protests. These references are not only meritless, but dangerous," he wrote. "There is not a single lyric in the song that references race or points to it- and there isn't a single video clip that isn't real news footage -and while I can try and respect others to have their own interpretation of a song with music- this one goes too far."Our Corporate Masters have decided that there is only one permissible attitude about antifa/BLM rioting, arson, and murder, and that permissible attitude is Ecstatic Praise. In the past 24 hours I have been accused of releasing a pro-lynching song (a song that has been out since May) and was subject to the comparison that I (direct quote) was not too pleased with the nationwide BLM protests. There is not a single lyric in the song that references race or points to it- and there isn’t a single video clip that isn’t real news footage -and while I can try and respect others to have their own interpretation of a song with music- this one goes too far. That is easy to fix, a regular Win/Win. Start lynching a lot of the AWFLs and their soiboy suck-ups so that whites aren't underrepresented in the total body count. Though instead of burning the former US flag, they should have scenes of a backhoe and what appears to be rolled up carpet being dumped into holes, while near nude hot looking women are proactively shooting Bud Light cans with archery and select-fire rifles. Antifa/BLM doesn't understand small-town policing at all. Small town cops don't want excitement, for the most part. They live in a sleepy, boring town for a reason.
So when Antifa/BLM comes storming into town causing trouble, the small-town cops are NOT going to be sympathetic to them. They would just as soon the problem go away. If that means the local citizenry takes care of it, they are A-OK with taking statements and cleaning up the mess. Posted by: "Perfessor" Squirrel at July 19, 2023 06:47 PM (BpYfr) 91

Two years after she changed the name of her Dixie Stampede attraction at Dollywood, Dolly Parton is opening up about the reasons behind the change, confessing "innocent ignorance" to the negative association the word "Dixie" carried for some fans.
"There’s such a thing as innocent ignorance, and so many of us are guilty of that," she observes. "When they said 'Dixie' was an offensive word, I thought, 'Well, I don’t want to offend anybody. This is a business. We’ll just call it the Stampede.'" "As soon as you realize that [something] is a problem, you should fix it," Parton adds. "Don’t be a dumbass. That’s where my heart is. I would never dream of hurting anybody on purpose." Parton was ahead of the curve of some artists who have begun to make changes more recently in response to the deaths of George Floyd and other unarmed Black men and women in police custody all over the U.S., and the resulting protests that have swept the country. "I understand people having to make themselves known and felt and seen," she says. "And of course Black lives matter. Do we think our little white asses are the only ones that matter? No!" Heh. Good for Aldean.
As a concrete example, look at Utah's response to BLM riots. Just like everywhere else, we had a massive riot in Salt Lake. Our Governor called out the National Guard when they started marching on the Utah Capitol (tanks and helicopters) and they dispersed. They tried rioting again, not as successfully. Then the BLM and Antifa types went to Provo, Utah, where they were allowed to block a street and then they shot a driver just trying to go home. The mayor did nothing. So that was it. A local militia of veterans formed, and for the next few months, they just went and stood, fully armed, at wherever the BLM/Antifa protests were happening. Didn't engage, stood about 100 feet away at all times, just stood there. Very peaceful protests, despite the screaming of Antifa. The cops made noises about unnecessary, but never made the militia leave. And Utah didn't have any cities burn down. (Oddly enough: the Provo riot was organized by leftist Jake Sullivan, the guy who went to Jan 6 and caught Ashley Babbit's murder on camera and is free as a bird today). They don't like Aldean because he is a friend of Trumps. There are several more pointed protest country songs and that rapper who Ace sometimes posts about but none got immediately canceled by CMT. Remember Wallen used the N word and no matter how many times he apologized they did not relent. Lucky for him he is terrific and it made not a whit of difference. But the bottom line is that it is the left that is doing this so as long as you don't offend them or have the nerve to befriend Trump, let the show go on.

Interesting, Biden may have destroyed the SPR:
“Those salt caverns are made of… well, salt, and according to SPR former project manager William Gibson, who spoke to Bloomberg, they were built—in the ‘70s—with the idea that they would last 25 years. They were also designed to be withdrawn and refilled just five times, lest the salt caverns simply dissolve. And unless someone was a party muckety wump, it probably was safer to voice Bad Thought outside of earshot to a small private group in the USSR than present day Banana Empire; some but all of that due to technology. Watched Sound of Freedom this afternoon, an interesting story but a tedious movie. Which is what you get when you try to tell a mostly true story. Mainstream (i.e., freaky) Hollywood will shred the truth for the sake of plot and pacing, and also for the sake of neo-marxism, mostly the neo-marxism.
Script & dialogue are stilted. Actors do their best with what they're given. Standouts are Bill Camp, and Jose Zuniga as the father of the victims who are the main subject of the film. The film employs a lot of child actors, which is a distraction. But you can't do it any other way. These kids are well-directed but they could use a close encounter with Spielberg to really show their acting chops. Looks like faith-based counterculture is behind the production, which means they have to be oblique & tasteful with the seedier aspects of law enforcement and the touchy subject of the film itself. Thus the film lacks the emotional gut-punch you would expect. But glad I watched it. Final message by Jim Caviezel begs viewers to scan QR code to buy additional tickets so everyone can see the "Uncle Tom's Cabin" of modern slavery. Smacks of commercialism. I guarantee you no little girl thought that. They played and dressed Barbie like the did any other doll. Posted by: polynikes at July 19, 2023 07:43 PM (5e0cQ) I think my niece gave hers a hair cut. Once. Posted by: jim (in Kalifornia) at July 19, 2023 07:45 PM (ynpvh) 354
Outside of the gulags---excepting the 1/6 political prisoner version to a small degree--the old Soviet Union and present-day United States greatly resembled each other with cancelling and political correctness. And unless someone was a party muckety wump, it probably was safer to voice Bad Thought outside of earshot to a small private group in the USSR than present day Banana Empire; some but all of that due to technology. Contemporary America really is a disgusting place in many respects, but especially in that regard.

Disco was a seventies phenomenon. Mostly bad but some amazing music.

If you like Aldean's song. Check out "I'm Just Sayin'" by country artist Austin Moody. It is number 4 on iTunes country chart. Anti woke song and it is fantastic.

Really?
It was pretty common where I was from. No girls played with Barbies. Posted by: Just Lily at July 19, 2023 07:48 Really what? That little girls were sexualized because they dressed up Barbie instead of another doll? Should the have made an ugly fat Barbie? Posted by: polynikes at July 19, 2023 07:50 PM (5e0cQ) 360
186 Prediction:
Jason Aldean will knife his supporters in the back as soon as they threatened his career. Posted by: Beartooth ---------- Except for GOPe, always wise to wait for an actual betrayal then using a default everyone caves. For the most part, musicians have returned to making most of the moolah by performing rather than recording/video royalties. Makes a performer more responsive to the crowds attending concerts rather than the impresarios. Posted by: whig at July 19, 2023 07:50 PM (cofNv) 361
Disco was entirely derivative.

There were some Disco influenced new takes on popular music. Bee Gees among many others. Posted by: JmT at July 19, 2023 07:55 PM (0P0FY) 362
Female "Hip-Hop" artists of today owe alot to the black women disco singers of the seventies. Not sure how many of them know that.

So the people running CMT associate sucker punching with a specific racial group? Whatever could be the reason for that?
Posted by: Advo at July 19, 2023 08:57 PM (VHN21) 366
I would think so but in hindsight when my nieces were little they played with Monster's High dolls.
Yeah that's what my cousin's daughters liked. They didn't have a Barbie in the house, but I think their mom probably had more to do with that than the kids. Posted by: Christopher R Taylor at July 19, 2023 09:04 PM (0hOvj) 367
Long day today. Going to have myself a Bud Light or two, then watch some video on CMT. Tomorrow I'll get out and mix with the
unwashed. Sometimes I like to just wander Target and buy some cheap stuff. See my people. It helps my 2024 Senate campaign. Did I tell you I saved the Olympics? Posted by: Pierre Delecto at July 19, 2023 09:12 PM (2znMt) 368
2017, the madman shot and killed 60 people and injured hundreds more during Grammy Award winner Aldean's performance in Las Vegas.
Grammy dot .com, in part: After an initial post expressing his sadness, thoughts and prayers for the victims, Aldean has now penned a longer letter that touches on his fear at the current state of the world, the need for people to come together and his continued thoughts and prayers for the victims of the largest mass shooting in U.S. history. He seems to be a decent person. Leave him be. Chase the trash & filth in the industry for what's being made readily accessible to impressionable children. Start with the very current & successful billionaire Carter family. Posted by: L - Practice makes perfect. They know their enemy. at July 19, 2023 09:13 PM (GshMh) 369

Nobody watches music videos on TV any more. If they ever even did.
As for the song itself, I don’t disagree with the sentiments expressed therein, but having grown up in a small town as a kid who didn’t quite fit in, my experience is that the purported sense of community, though very real and very strong, is also selective and not very forgiving of any deviation. If you weren’t an athletic kid or a social butterfly, you didn’t get extended all of those courtesies, even if you weren’t a commie antifa sympathizer. So while I appreciate why Aldean felt the need to write this, it doesn’t ring all that true to me. Posted by: Caiwyn at July 19, 2023 09:54 PM (xz2eq) 371
I remember growing up in a small west Texas town. We had "sweetie uncles" and they were tolerated becauyse they kept to themselves. "bless your heart" was reserved for especially stupid politicians and idiots. But town trouble makers were always encouraged to find themselves in NYC or Chicago. If they didn't they might meet some angry fathers. Those who hate America are just too obvious. As for Antifa and BLM, I wish they try out their shit in my small town. Shoot, shovel and shut up.
