Do not wait til the military thinks it's a good idea to pull all their IRRs and then their retirees up (b/c officers can be recalled for life, but you can't resign a commission and still get retirement, so that's a much rougher call)...

Ran the Fat boy program on my last ship for a bit over a year.... had a WAY better success rate than other ship's programs, but was finally relieved of that duty, because of too many complaints of me being 'cruel'.
Was at a teaching command a couple years later, and saw an old shipmate who had been in the program... he was being processed out, due to overweight... and told me he wished I was still running the program.

I stopped in at my local Taco joint yesterday afternoon for lunch.
While waiting for my order, in walked two...gentlemen Furries...in full regalia: Ears, Tails, and makeup.
Only the heavy Five O'Clock shadows ruined the picture. That, and the tails protruding from mid ass.
I really wanted to take a picture, but I was somewhat in shock seeing these delicate creatures in the wild.

The Army tried to change it's physical fitness test in...2019, I think? From a simple pushup/situp/run with standards based on age and gender to a more complex, whole-fitness test with standards based on job type (physically demanding or not). Certain demographics (female, older) did poorly in the test fielding units, so it stayed in a test phase for years as people wrote their congressional reps about the discriminatory test. They added gendered and age based scoring, removed harder events, and just this year it became official.
Now, both draft National Defense Authorization bills direct the Army to scrap the new test, which will lead to a couple MORE years of test development and no testing standards.

I dissipate heat very well. Cross country regional in HS, it was 95-100 that day.
Had one of my best days (relative to the rest of the field). Looked like I had just stepped out of the shower when I was done.

I know a couple people who - generally speaking - switched teams who: 1, didn't get butchered or chemically modified, and 2, keep it entirely to themselves. I don't see where this plan has a shred of a chance of working. Piffle. Block the St Lawrence on the east and Vancouver on the West and blockading doesn't need the navy. Nova Scotia has few land connections so those could be cut without needing Halifax.
The colonies with the Brits in charge did this routinely in the various wars with France, cut off the trade and reinforcements with 18th Century tech. Conquering the inland took longer, but was an inevitable victory all the same.

The the ACW nobody sensible was behind the idea of mass emancipation in 1861. There was talk of gradual emancipation, colonization back to Africa, which got nowhere. So the call was to preserve the Union. It was a joint pressure when casualties came in from most soldiers and increasingly from moderates that the fountainhead of the unrest in the US, slavery and its spread, be solved by this war for good and all. So by 1863 when the Emancipation Proclamation took effect there was only a small political impact.
