James Comey Authorized the FBI to Read the Emails of Republican House Intelligence Committee Staffers, Including the Man Who Exposed RussiaGate, Kash Patel
The House Judiciary Committee on Thursday opened a formal investigation into why the FBI snooped on two Republican House Intelligence Committee staffers during the height of the Russia collusion probe, suggesting the seizure of their private email and records may have been retaliation for the panel's efforts to expose bureau misconduct. The letter from Committee Chairman Jim Jordan, R-Ohio, to FBI Director Christopher Wray was prompted by reporting in Just the News and the New York Post revealing that Kash Patel, the chief investigator on then-House Intelligence Committee Chairman Devin Nunes' team, had his email seized from Google back in late 2017, just before the release of a report that identified significant failures and abuses in the Russia collusion scandal. Patel and a second unnamed committee investigator were not notified until 2022, five years after the seizure, Just the News reported.Below, Christopher Wray testilying.
... "These subpoenas only came to light in 2022 due to Google's policy of alerting customers five years after law enforcement takes such action," Jordan added. "The timing of these subpoenas raises questions about whether the subpoenas were in retaliation for HPSCI's oversight of the FBI." ... In an interview Thursday night, Patel reacted to word of the congressional probe but urged Congress to be more aggressive and directly subpoena the FBI evidence. "I can definitively say it was an unlawful surveillance and snooping of me and it wasn't just me," he told the Just the News, No Noise television show. "And I think it's more than two people. And I think it's more than just telephone and bank and phone records. I think they went further than that and got congressional records. So the House better step up right now. Because right now it affects them as much it affects me. "Congress needs to send out subpoenas, enough with the niceties and asking and put butts in the seat and get some answers to questions," he added.

As just a tiny part of my job, I spent three decades proofreading. The best typo I ever found was for some sort of OSHA checklist. Instead of 'Excessive heat' it said, 'Excessive head'. Now Bill Clinton would argue there's no such thing as excessive head, but I had a signed letter it was proofread, by some govmint type so 'run it'.

There used to be a time, back in olden days, when the press was more willing to cover this kind of stuff because it was juicy and dramatic and sold newspapers and ads. They'd attack corrupt politicians of either party, they just wouldn't go out of their way to attack Democrats but they would Republicans.
And, it used to be embarrassing to a party to get nailed like this, so they'd try to avoid it if possible. It would reflect badly on the president and could hurt them in an election.
And finally, people used to have more of a sense of shame, of justice, and of being responsible to someone for their actions, so they were afraid of having the light shone on them, they'd panic and resign etc.
Remember Vince Foster? He was sure they were all doomed and felt so shamed he either killed himself, for the Clinton administration was afraid he'd talk and they had him whacked. EIther way he was pretty much the last of the old guard who was capable of feeling shame and regret. The Clintons were the new guard: they were working for the cause and there is no such thing as shame.

Congress has the power to deal with this in three ways, other than talk.
1) Cut their budget, reducing their power and influence
2) Impeach the leadership, removing them from office
3) Pass laws that restrict or change the way they function, aiming to make them more accountable and more restricted.
The Republican party just wants to talk. They either think we're in the old days when a hearing might have repercussions... or they just don't want to do anything that might harm their electoral chances or annoy the deep state.

And this is how the FBI got out of control. It was too hard to get the mob, so they kept passing new laws and granting the FBI more power and fewer restrictions. Its ILLEGAL to lie to the FBI now. They don't have to record anything. They can take your assets and don't have to even return them. It was all in the name of "tough on crime" because their job was hard.
