The FBI Thought It Was Censoring Americans on Behalf of Ukraine.
They Were Actually Censoring Americans For the Benefit of Russia.

Whoops!

Whoopsie!

Of course, censoring Americans for any foreign power is illegal. In fact, the government censorship of any American for the benefit of the American government is illegal too.

But this illustrates another problem with censors: Censors are stupid. They are among the stupidest people in any system of government, because they're the people afraid of ideas. The people afraid of reading and thinking, and terrified at the idea that other people might enjoy these things.

And so our incompetent, criminal FBI was duped like the sad clown they are and acted as the catspaw of Russian intelligence and censored speech that RUSSIAN AGENTS didn't like.

Kerry Picket for the Washington Times:

The FBI was enlisted by the Security Service of Ukraine soon after the Russian invasion to demand social media platforms take down posts and block accounts such as those belonging to American journalists, according to House Judiciary Committee investigators.

It is now suspected that Russian agents had infiltrated the Ukraine intelligence agency, known by the acronym SBU, potentially manipulating the FBI's attempts to censor the journalists and at least one State Department official.

The FBI also vouched for removing social media posts that were pro-Ukraine or critical of Russian President Vladimir Putin, according to the report.

"Given that the SBU was compromised by a network of Russian collaborators, sympathizers, and double agents at the time of its interactions with the FBI, the FBI's uncritical cooperation with the SBU's requests is deeply concerning," said the report by panel's Select Subcommittee on the Weaponization of the Federal Government.

"The inclusion of American accounts on the SBU's lists indicates that the FBI either did not properly vet the SBU's requests or was aware of their domestic nature, and nonetheless carried them out. In so doing, the FBI violated the First Amendment rights of Americans and potentially undermined our national security," the report said.

Five months after the Russian invasion, in July 2022, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy fired the head of the SBU because the intelligence agency had been compromised by Russian spies.

The FBI declined to comment for this article.

The double-whammy for the FBI -- engaging in social media censorship and getting duped into doing it for a foreign adversary -- only adds to the woes at America's premier law enforcement agency. The FBI has been battered by whistleblowers and other critics who say the bureau suffers from mismanagement and politically biased leadership and has conducted a string of politically motivated investigations targeting conservatives.

Is censoring Americans on behalf of RUSSIAN AGENTS treason, or nah?

Christopher Wray will testify before Congress tomorrow. Whoops: He's testifying today.

I imagine he will defend his record as the leader of the Armed Censorship Agency of the Regime. And then he'll leave early to jump on a taxpayer-funded jet to get an early start on a five-day weekend in the Adirondacks.

And they're, as a rule, terrified. Anyone above them on the org chart can end their lives. They work for organs of state security. State security does not like to be questioned. Cops treat citizens like this all the time, because they hold the power to destroy with state sanction. Well, the cops have bosses and it's the same way all the way up.

So if the boss tells you to do X, you do X. You don't question it. You don't think about it. You don't say, "this looks fishy." To question is to die. So you do as you're told.

What a startling admission. Not the FBI are a bunch of tyrannical idiots - that's obvious at first glance - but that the FBI is actively censoring. They usually deny that. Not this time, though. They acknowledge that openly to the point that the implication is that it's routine. They just took orders from the wrong kind of spies this time.

Even though Leviathan is throwing hundreds of billions of dollars in "military" aid to fight Russia, and pretty much everyone in Congress is itching to start pitching nuclear weapons towards Moscow, Russia isn't an Enemy enemy, but just a McGuffin for MIC grifting.

||Huw Edwards is in hospital with "serious mental health issues", his wife says, as she named him as the BBC presenter at the centre of allegations.

His wife Vicky Flind said she was issuing a statement on his behalf after days of speculation "primarily out of concern for his mental well-being and to protect our children".

The Sun has claimed he paid a young person for sexually explicit images.

The Met Police says Edwards, 61, will not face any police action.

The family statement said the news presenter intends to respond to the allegations personally when he is well enough.

The statement read: "In light of the recent reporting regarding the 'BBC Presenter' I am making this statement on behalf of my husband Huw Edwards, after what have been five extremely difficult days for our family. I am doing this primarily out of concern for his mental well-being and to protect our children.

"Huw is suffering from serious mental health issues. As is well documented, he has been treated for severe depression in recent years.||

I mean, if there could be a fed agency to fight crime, totally on the level, impartial, and competent, staffed with honest people,

would you want it

Posted by: DB

--

Yes. And it could be the FBI. No law enforcement credentials, just librarians with information that is available for any sheriff's offices to call and ask.

Nothing proactive, though.

So it's all going according to script so far.

Posted by: Joe Mannix (Not a cop!) at July 12, 2023 02:19 PM (t0OGg)

154 The FBI posted on Twitter:

The FBI issued a tweet that used a flowery script against a mauve pink background inviting Americans to “Speak Now.” “Justice is better than revenge,” the FBI’s tweet stated. “You may not be Superman, but you can help the #FBI protect the country. If you have information about a federal crime, speak now.” The tweet also asked a question: “Do you have tip about a federal crime?” Then it listed a number of crimes, followed by the curious words “FBI’s Version.”

1. Terrorism (FBI’s Version), 2. Cybercrime (FBI’s Version), 3. Counterintelligence (FBI’s Version), 4. Civil Rights (FBI’s Version), 5. Public Corruption (FBI’s Version), 6. Weapons of Mass Destruction (FBI’s Version), 7. Organized Crime (FBI’s Version), 8. Violent Crime (FBI’s Version), 9. White Collar Crime (FBI’s Version)

The replies have been not what the FBI expected. What is the number one entity being reported on to the FBI? Why, the FBI themselves who are guilty of all of the above. FBI version must mean everyone but them.

The FBI has achieved very little of value in its history, and nothing of value that couldn't have been handled by existing state and federal agencies.

At the same time, it has also done enormous damage to the country. Destroyed it in fact.

Disbanding the agency and replacing it with nothing is a nice thought, but it's a little late for that, now.

When this all comes apart, in the unlikely event we get a Second Republic, we need it in the Constitution: all law enforcement will be handled by state and local governments. Anyone who says the words "federal police agency" gets hanged.

And something similar for intelligence. All of it is handled by the military, any attempt to form a civilian intelligence earns you a death penalty, and any spook caught operating on US soil goes to the goddamned rape dogs.

"In reaching this decision, they have spoken to a number of parties including the BBC and the alleged complainant and the alleged complainant's family, both via another police force."

It said detectives are "aware of media reporting of further allegations against the same individual" but has received "no specific details or information about these allegations... and therefore there is no police action at this time".

Another police force previously said it told the young person's family there was no criminal wrongdoing after being approached prior to their complaint to the BBC and account to the Sun.

In a new statement, the same force said it has recently carried out further inquiries and has found "no evidence that any criminal offences have been committed".||

222 I've been 50-50 this entire time that this whole thing was an op to allow for easy money laundering with the agreement that Vlad Putin would play the role of the Iron Sheik and the U.S. would pretend to hit him with a folding chair a few times, but in the end everyone cashed their checks and Putin gets to keep part of Ukraine.
Posted by: Moron Robbie
-------
Joe said as much before the invasion occurred that Putin could have his landbridge to Crimea and then Putin went a bit further than expected. The Uniparty needs ongoing wars while Putin needs an external enemy to keep the country united. Both the uniparty and Putin want high oil prices.

I think though that both sides miscalculated what the other might do and now we have this shit show in Ukraine where no essential interests of the US are involved nor really of NATO. Ukraine itself should be classified as hostile simply for its interference in US elections and corrupting our politicians.

The novel G Man by Stephen Hunter makes the case that the MOB fed the FBI information that allowed them to ambush freelancers and competitors. The successes of those early tips lead to the growth of the FBI. You may fairly conclude that that ethos, continued through decades. The Mob, took out rogue factions, consolidated itself politically and the FBI grew as well. It is a symbiotic relationship. If the FBI is gone, the MOB has a much tougher job, because it has to corrupt decentralized law enforcement. It can. Its just less efficient.

Not really true--GOTV only pays about 8 percent commission which is why the useless robocalls, flyers, and adverts are pushed that pay as much as 30 percent commission. Individual door knocking does not work but Robert A Heinlein in his Take Back Your Government book denotes how to do it right via organization. Essentially, you organize from the bottom up and use them as your door knockers for candidates approved by the local caucus.

298 The novel G Man by Stephen Hunter makes the case that the MOB fed the FBI information that allowed them to ambush freelancers and competitors.

Posted by: FenelonSpoke
---------------
Fenelon, I have done both political organizing back in the day as well as studied it as a political analyst with the appropriate credentials. Door knocking is extremely effective by the candidate themselves but in today's world--one way is by arranging meetings at the local neighborhood Property Owners Association facilities. Another is speaking at local party and civic organizations, and a third is creating your own political organization volunteers to be your doorknockers in their neighborhood and social media.

That way you leverage numbers and avoid anti solicitation problems (1st Amendment protects that right for political reasons btw but POA's are notorious for not following the law).

The research in the field shows that is the most effective way of getting out the vote (aside from ballot stuffing and harvesting) for the least expenditure. Anything involving mass media is simply a waste of money for candidates other than perhaps road and property signage.

Fenelon, go down the county elections office and check to see how many people voted for this position last election. That is the number of people you need to vote for you this election unless your oponent is underwrit by someone big.

Talk to you family, talk to your friends, talk to your neighbors, talk to your parishinors "I am not here as your minister, I am her to ask a favor, I am . . . ."

If you know who is running in bigger state races that have yard signs, and they are similar to you, go talk to them

No one really cares a lot about the down ticket races I am afraid, but you can get your name out.
Also, go speak at the city council meetings. "My name is [Fenelon] and this is very important and is being neglected . . . "
Go to AA meetings, and just be there.

People have to be able to put a name to a face to a race to a positive feeling. Politics is slimy, and you have the chance to do these things and be decent about it, but you gotta get your face and name recognized

443 Fenelon,
On social media, make sure that you have total control of your messaging---often well meaning people can post stuff using your name creating a headache so you need to be able to have an official social media presence, veto power on all messaging, and put some trusted volunteer (after checking their social media past posts as well) as in charge of it.

Nextdoor is probably one place you need to check out as reading the posts there pertaining to your local area, many of these people can inform you what the public is thinking in your locale. Facebook is probably more usable for Millenials and older as a general official campaign statement and agenda place for campaign events.

Young voters are the hardest to reach but connections with school teachers at the senior high level might help.

444 Th horde is not reacting to the death of Anchor Steam with the same desperate panic I feel. I almost would flaming skull this news. Isn't there some San Francisco billionaire with a public service conscience?

Weinhardts got bought out by Stroh and immediately tasted like Stroh. I understand your misery.

NO!!! Let them air. I LOVE hearing the side-effects and my daughter exclaiming how she'll NEVER put anything like that in her body.

How and why such products and commercials made it into being is an ugly story, and much larger than just the products themselves. Lately I've been touting 'An American Sickness'. If you'd like to understand the degraded state of all aspects of American healthcare, that's the book. Goodreads review: https://tinyurl.com/2ks99zyl

448 i never had a taste for beer, but some of the bigger beer and soda dealers around here carry so many brands of beer that you could almost try a different brand every day for several months.

450 Fenelonspoke, perhaps if you can swing a table outside a local supermarket.
Don't do it during the day, 9-5, but early in the morning 5-7AM? And not outside a liquor entrance.
Early morning supermarkets, and maybe meets at early riser restaurants.
Can you have a coffee thingey? If people help themselves it's not a bribe. I mean a coffee plastic thing, the box? They're not that expensive.
Just a couple of thoughts.

It’s funny how my ‘nabe operates during election season. Lawn signs are 10:1 Dem/Rep but then the results are 55-60% Republican. It’s because conservatives know putting a sigh in your lawn or a sticker on a car is asking for the party of tolerance to set your house/car on fire. Liberals on the other hand have no such fear, even though every Republican is a violent Nazi in their eyes. Weird how it works huh?

452 I've been off shore, but the guys on the production platforms would skip lunch to watch their "stories".
Posted by: Javems'

When I did Cable TV disconnects in The Ghetto I made it a point of honor to never cut off Old Black Ladies' Stories. I'd come back later after they'd figured out where to watch them next. I never failed, made sure they could watch their Stories.
That helped me a great deal. Word got around.

453 I will not ever put up a lawn sign or even a sticker on anything. Anonymity is crucial to the vote. Anyone falling into that trap deserves what they get.
Secret voting is absolutely crucial to the voting process.

Same here as a child. I also was big into Kraft Mac and cheese during college. At 19 cents a box, it augmented my diet as a cheap form of carbs.

There are a lot of great deals for solar generators today on Prime and at the manufacturer sites. Bluetti is selling their AC200 MAX solar generator for $1299. No, I don't own Bluetti stock

Posted by: mrp at July 12, 2023 02:19 PM

Thanks again. I bought the AC200 MAX and a 350 watt solar panel. About 40% off of both. Might add a second panel later, based on experience. Now, my local utility can kiss my ass, putting my priority in an outage at very last. I might just add a 30 watt input to my service panel, which would make things really easy.

457 So if the FBI was lobbying on behalf of a foreign power, shouldn't it, or its agents have to register under The Foreign Agents Registration Act (FARA) (22 U.S.C. § 611 et seq.) and publicly disclose their relationship and efforts on behalf of a foreign power (satire)?

459 Oh and to my earlier point, shouldn't any social media company and press outlet and their employees that acted on the Ukraine (Russia) request to censor have to register as FARA agents too (again satire)?
