Bud Light Now Falls Out of the Top Ten In Beer Sales; Other Tranheuser-Busch Brands Also Declining
Wow. A few weeks ago Bud Light fell from #1 to #2, losing out to Modelo; now it falls out of the top ten.
Bud Light this year lost its position as America's top selling beer. It was the second-best-selling beer in the four weeks leading up to June 3, making up 7.3 percent of U.S. retail-store beer purchases. Bud Light is now no longer one of America's 10 most popular beers.And people are now boycotting other Tranheuser-Busch brands.
At Instapundit, Steven Green says they should just apologize. I don't know if I want a forced apology, which would of course be insincere. And anyway, forced apologies are kind of creepy. I think I want more: For Anheuser-Busch to declare that men are men, and women are women. Is that too much? I don't think so. I don't want every company to weigh in on contentious social issues. But I would like the precedent set that if a corporation weighs in on a culture war issue, they are now Fair Game to be mau-maued by the right into being forced to weigh in on our side of the culture war issue. Which of course is absolutely hateful to our leftwing corporate "friends." Let us make an object lesson out of Tranheuser-Busch, so that other corporations understand: Either avoid weighing in on political issues altogether, or we will fucking force you to propagandize for the social and cultural right. Which we know you hate. And which will cost you your precious ESG ratings. You're advertising your "corporate values"? Well then I insist that your "corporate values" match my conservative values. How you like them apples? Maybe you better just stay out of it altogether, huh? We're making it clear now, and need to make it clearer: No longer is corporate pandering to the fascist left a cost-free move. We will make you pay dearly for joining the enemies of truth, reason, and civilization itself.
Sales of Michelob Ultra fell by 4.3 percent in the week that ended July 1 compared with last year, and Busch Light was down 8.5 percent, the New York Post reported. Both brands are, like Bud Light, owned by the Anheuser-Busch brewing company. "Budweiser trends have been slipping for a very long time, but it's the Michelob Ultra negative numbers and now Busch Light negative trends that are most alarming to me," Bump Williams, whose consulting firm ran the numbers from NielsenIQ data, told the Post. "They were very healthy prior to April 1."

That can't be done. If Tranheuser-Busch were to do this, I don't think it would work. Sales aren't going to recover now. Maybe - but only maybe - if they did saturation marketing for months, it could reach enough people. But I kind of doubt it.

I saw Sound of Freedom last night, and while I won't gush that it was the best movie ever made, it really has a mood and a tone that is on point for the subject matter. And the kid actors are perfect for their roles. And it's a story that hangs on 2 dads and 2 kids, not telling a story too big or too unbelievable - just one that feels real and authentic (and awful).
To be better, I wish the director had cut 10-15 minutes and picked up his scene pace (lots of directors don't let scenes breathe - this director wanted scenes to linger, and they do linger too long). But no movie, especially a lower budget one, is gonna be perfect, and I gave it a solid B.

Just sell fucking beer, good beer, concentrate on core competencies. There are 500 year old breweries in Europe, I could get a case delivered for 8 bucks. They make the best beer in the world, arguably, and they think beer drinkers are neanderthals. They mostly drink wine.

It was both a sop to their internal leftists when DeSantis pissed them off about the "Don't Say Gay" bill as well as a way to gin up controversy around a project that had tracking issues. I think the Caviezel thing is because of the Passion. WAAAAAYY back, I exchanged emails with him and he seemed particularly animated about the whole subject. My argument was that no one in the movie came off looking good. It was anti-Humanity, if anything (or pro, if you really want to think about it) his argument was about the long history of passion plays being anti-semitic and this movie was uniquely anti-semitic, etc. I replied that who in the movie, besides Mary, is not a piece of shit? Name one.
He answered back about how Pilate was portrayed positively. I pointed out that almost every sin is on display in the movie. Pilate's is moral cowardice (as is Peter's, although it is more overall cowardice.)

The kiss was removed already. DeSantis signed the "Don't Say Gay" bill. The left within Disney, in particular Pixar, freaked out. To assuage them, Disney allowed the kiss to go back in, and they pushed the story. It was explicitly political in nature. Everything about it.
And then Lightyear bombed and is now being held up as one of modern Disney's great failings. And yet, Disney-shills will just say that it's part of the story.

and (2) right from a long stay in a full ice chest, Piels Real Draft in Bigmouth 8 oz bottles. They were dark brown glass and looked like a beer keg. The bigmouth feature meant about 4 swallows of ice cold brew per bottle. No longer available but missed by many.

All corporations are focused on the financial markets for a variety of reasons. And yes, it is an extremely complex equations when you are dealing in millions and billions of dollars.

I, too, wish companies would be apolitical. I wish DEI would DIE and return to the days of diversity in background, thought, etc being encouraged. I don’t want to anyplace to embrace overt racism, or covert racism. This means against whites, blacks, Asians, Latinos, anyone in between, it also includes males or females except where it makes some sense to do so (looking at you, Military). Even very major corporations don't have many sources of financing on rotation. It's literally an every few years thing and usually done with existing relationships. You negotiate a line of capital(which covers ordinary scale investing) that gets reviewed every so often for ordinary projects. You refinance your bonds a year or so before they come due. Nothing requires regular labor here.
The main reason a CEO focuses on the stock market is his compensation.
A corporate finance job is an accounting job, which is not the same as bookkeeping mind you.

This had nothing to do with sales or marketing. This had to do with access to capital markets. Go look at what BlackRock, Vanguard and all of their partners in the banking community are doing.
Have you seen what is happening to Nigel Farage? That ain't marketing and sales, it is what is happening to major corporations around the world. Submit or lose access to capital. Not a complicated blackmail scheme but an effective one.

I think the charcoal filtering does something positive. I like the extra step (as long as we're not drinking No. 7). I think it does something, but it's similar almost any other marketing thing bourbons talk about from unique water supplies to special barrels.

I suspect two or three main factors:
1. Quality of Disney storytelling is just farcical at this point. Numerous flops.
2. Much of that driven by the wokeness, which is turning off audiences who don't want to be lectured about their "whiteness" or whatever.
3. Diminishing disposable income due to rampant inflation and stagnation of the economy.

Yeah that was a very strange move, in a recession, with high inflation. That is not how to handle pricing, its the opposite of how any business should run. But now they have started to put out lots of promos and price breaks, which does not indicate a healthy, strong company with lots of customers.

It's not that she seemed to necessarily want to really push the woke thing, it's that she was in such a bubble that her view of the world, "what she knew was true", about people and marketing and markets and what-all was completely wrong. Maybe that's her fault in the end, but the left "culture" warriors push such an amazingly fantastical alternate reality and absolutely every single person surrounding you agrees that it's 100% ground-accurate, being the single person it all falls out on is really just bad luck. All the other inhabitants of the fantasy reality go on as if your life never self-destructed.
People BELIEVE there's something wrong with using attractive people to sell product because there's something WRONG with human awareness and appreciation of criteria for mate selection.

I actually think your opinion is valid - she was just repeating the same bullshit she was taught to believe. And, to be fair, companies got away with this BS corporate double speak for YEARs. But Disney started changing things - family friendly suddenly meant gay friendly, VERY gay friendly. Then came bud light. She bumbled into the wrong campaign at exactly the wrong time.

So now, the CEO has to go and his replacement has to do a full, public accounting of the affair, how it happened, who was involved and state categorically that all those people are fired and they fully understand not to pull such bullshit again. They know who their audience is and they'll lean into it smartly, not like an oafish brute.
And that anyone who comes along trying to peddle their trans alphabet mafia bullshit again, ALSO gets fired immediately.

They want me back? Dedicate 20% of profits to fighting the sexualization of children by all organizations especially schools. Dedicate $500 million to fund a group of the most vicious lawyers ever, to sue on behalf of sexually mutilated children.
Sue any doctor, any pharmaceutical company, any pharmacy, any insurance company, any medical group, EVERYBODY! involved for each mutilated child to the tune of $100 million from each of them for each mutilated child.
I want this country to have a fast guaranteed path to unimaginable riches. Let kids start taking that path and then get on the lawsuit gravy train and succeed while things are still reversible. Spit the puberty blockers into the toilet and still collect.
