Saturday Morning Coffee Break & Prayer Revival

7 7 23 coffee.jpg

***

The first Saturday after Independence Day. Hope you have all of your digits to type away your comments in this open thread.

Remember to be nice to one another. And if you must run with sharp objects say your prayers.

And if you pull some 'ettes hair, say your prayers as well.

Have a fun weekend.

AoSHQ Weekly Prayer List

Please submit any prayer requests to me, “Annie’s Stew” at apaslo atsign hotmail dot com. Prayer requests are generally removed after four weeks unless we receive an update.

Prayer Requests:

6/8 – Sharkman posted about a girl who could use prayers. She is 7 years old, and just had her third open heart surgery and a pacemaker put in, because she was born with her heart reversed in her chest. Additional surgeries will be coming in her future.

6/8 – FenelonSpoke asked for prayers as she considers running for a spot on their local township committee. She is a complete neophyte in running for office, so she said she needs all the prayer support she can get!

6/10 – Jewells asked for prayers to continue for her niece, who was diagnosed with cervical cancer, plus they found 3 cancerous nodes in her lungs. Jewells herself is still going through radiation and it’s “kicking her butt”. Then she will have more chemo.
6/17 Update - Jewells’ niece had her port put in last Thursday and began chemo and radiation on Tuesday. Jewells said how scared her niece is.
6/24 Update – Jewell’s niece is not handling the chemo well. She has been very sick since last Tuesday. Jewells was also sick most of last week, after radiation and chemo.

6/10 - Farmer Bob posted to the comments. He sends his thanks to the Horde for their prayers and says he’s still working to become the fit, fun, romantic and playful husband worth having that Mrs. Bob deserves. He has lost a lot of weight and still has more to go. So far she has agreed to a weekly “couple talk time” which will consist of prayer, a devotional reading, and light/positive conversation. Continued prayers for him and his wife are appreciated.
6/24 – Farmer Bob and Mrs. Bob had their first couple “talk time” (virtual) on Wednesday and it went very well. He asked that we keep praying for them. On the fitness front, he has lost 65 pounds so far.

6/10 – Joe Kidd asked for prayers for his brother Mike, who needs prayers for healing of his stomach cancer that he has battled for years, and also a sizeable blood clot in his leg. The cancer was retreating until recently, but a new PET scan showed disappointing results. He was really hoping to be done with chemo. At age 65, he’s not sure how much fight he has left in him.

6/20 – J requested a prayer for her younger son Matt, whose seizure symptoms are returning again after 20 years of normalcy. So far he has not had a full-blown seizure, and the doctors are working to adjust his medication. But he can feel them in the background and they are interfering with his ability to do his job. Also, his second child is due in September.

6/24 – Fox2! asked for prayers as he had to spend the week in the hospital with AFIB.

6/24 – Screaming in Digital asked for prayers for an old friend, who was fighting cancer. The latest news was not good, but he is still receiving treatment.

6/24 – RetSgtRN asked for prayers for her son-in-law, Kenny, who at 37 is battling acute leukemia. He beat lymphoma 2 years ago. He has 2 boys, ages 3 and 7. He is also a police officer in a very large city and fortunately his boss has been supportive. Thanks to all for your prayers!
7/1 Update – Kenny is in remission. Now he will begin treatments for his bone marrow transplant, which will require him to remain in the hospital for 100 days, including part of it in isolation.

6/27 – Catch Thirty-Thr33’s father will return home from the hospital, and he will be visited by a hospice nurse twice a week. He is 82 now and has been fighting lung cancer for 18 months now. Please pray for him.

7/1 – FenelonSpoke asked for prayers for the woman that she is running with for township committee. The woman is having bad digestive pain.

7/1 – rhennigantx asked for prayers for his buddy Jason, who lost a good friend to an overdose. Jason is very angry at a (so called) friend who gave the other friend the drugs.

7/1 – JM in Fla/III asked for prayers for his brother and sister-in-law, who are struggling with their adult son; he is schizophrenic but does not always take his medicine.

7/4 – neverenoughcaffeine asked for prayers for Tom, Andy, and Wilson. Their wife and mom Yumiko died in a freak accident on Sunday and Tom was severely injured.

For submission guidelines and other relevant info, please contact Annie's Stew, who is managing the prayer list. You can contact her at apaslo at-sign hotmail dot com. If you see a prayer request posted in a thread comment, feel free to copy and paste it and e-mail it to Annie's Stew. She tries to keep up with the requests in the threads, but she's not here all of the time, so she may not see it unless you e-mail it to her. Please note: Prayer requests are generally removed after four weeks or so unless we receive an update.

Romans 8:26-27
26 In the same way, the Spirit helps us in our weakness. We do not know what we ought to pray for, but the Spirit himself intercedes for us through wordless groans. 27 And he who searches our hearts knows the mind of the Spirit, because the Spirit intercedes for God’s people in accordance with the will of God.

9 Morning again, all! I'm back from the squickiness in the humid heat of washing the car, and then I've shaved and washed me. Here I am with some iced coffee and a small cinnamon bun.

Willowed: . . . I just shook my head and still do when driving Highway 59 to Van Buren. That stretch has to lead the state in roadkill, and it's like a buffet for the crows. And turkey buzzards. . . .

Foxes were all over suburban and even metro Denver in the late '90s. One morning I drove up to Red Rocks Park in the SW 'burbs, looked across the road as I parked, and there was a red fox sitting looking around. My presence didn't disturb him in the slightest. He trotted off in his own good time.

In the Denver Zoo, we saw one emerging through a fence from the Africa enclosure. Again, unlike a feral cat, he didn't seem disturbed by the presence of humans.

Arizona the big red tabby part Maine Coon grabbed Mrs. Wolfus No. 2's little stuffed Pegasus and would carry it around in his mouth like a dead rat. In later years, I'd hear him squeaking gently in the front room and would creep out to see him playing with the winged horse like a kitten. He'd stare at me -- "Busted!" -- drop the toy and stalk off. Then two nights later, I'd catch him doing it again.

(He passed away in 1999. I still have the toy atop the bookcase.)

50 As for the ball of paper as a cat toy: When we lived in a town house from '85-'86, Arizona and I developed a game. He'd sit at the top of the steps and I'd bat a ball of typing paper up toward him. If it landed halfway up or higher, he would have to come down and bat it back to me. If it landed closer to me, I had to go up for it.

Now and then he'd ignore the ball if it landed in his territory. I'd say, "You can do better than that," and he'd come down and swat the paper back to me.

No conclusions, but there does seem to be evidence of an increase in "sudden death" after the mRNA treatment and boosters. And it happens more in males, and often in the middle of athletic events.

But there are many possible reasons, and the article doesn't really give any hints, except he may have been a little overweight.

Dixie is an older duck with a rather poor success rate.

89 'Morning all.
Don't know what to say. So much happy news and so much sad news and so many trials and tribulations. The only thing I do know to say is that we are all so fortunate to have this place to come to and be able to share these big life events. I know it saved me.

90 Well, I don't do the prayer threads but this overnight thread has been very helpful. i'll reactivate some donation things.
My big issue lately is finding out that getting Rona 3 times has damaged my heart. I'm mid-50s.
Now, I'll explain: I got the 1st one in Mexico and it was the very first Wuhan. Cerebral edema that almost killed me. The second, I had to go to Europe physically to handle legal issues and got Omicron. Mild cold. But went sepsis: my body temperature dropped to 94F. I felt fine, but got quarantined for a month.
Rona is/was real. I will attest to that.
Hence, the third 'case':

I've always wondered where that highway runs. I presume it refers to Route 41 or U.S. 41, part of the old Federal system, and since it's an odd number it would run basically north-south. Otherwise we could be looking at "state highway 41" in almost any state.

101 My employer was talking the OSHA thing and mandatory vaxes; so I figured it was probably inevitable and shopped for the J&J vaccine.
What a mistake. I was sick for a MONTH.
The J&J vaccine essentially hit me again. I could not believe it. I was so sick. The very first China Rona lasted about a week; this was about a month.
Anyway, turns out all the combination of all this has seriously damaged my heart. The Doc flipped: You need to be on heart meds, Right Now!
So I'm examining heart meds, which prior to Rona, I was pretty much fine. Thing is, The Original Rona was very real; those who got that original are lucky to be alive. After that, the 'vaccines' in my opinion are the killers here.

Last week Noe Valley, also known as “stroller valley” because of the growing population of young families, endured 11 phone robberies that are believed to have been carried out by the same gang who are targeting women picking up children from school.

One woman was reportedly hit with a baseball bat, while another was punched in the face, before the offender ran to a getaway car and drove off. On Thursday the police had arrested one minor in connection with the 11 robberies and were searching for the others.

Agree. It is why we have so many people living on the street. People who are schizophrenic, truly mentally ill diagnostically cannot make rational decisions. Yet, people think they are doing the right thing by letting these people make decisions for themselves that do nothing but cause harm to themselves and others. The degradation of society by letting people defecate on the sidewalk, sell and so drugs in public, loot and steal and destroy neighborhoods for normal people is what is killing this country.

Biden's hydrogen bombshell leaves Europe in the dust. European leaders have devoted tens of billions of dollars toward encouraging production of hydrogen...but now, many of those jobs will be going to the United States instead. The clean energy subsidies that undergird President Joe Biden’s climate agenda have just prompted one Norwegian manufacturer to choose Michigan, not Europe, as the site of a nearly $500 million factory that will produce the equipment needed to extract hydrogen from water.

You don't see many "My Governor is an Idiot" signs anymore in MI. She's bringing manufacturing back to this state at a pace that is truly incredible. Of course the village idiots in some places have fought it due to some of the comanies she's brought to the state having ties to China...the racists are up in arms over the fact that the Korean company who is going to build it has funding from China.

If you had seen the conditions I saw in those institutions you would have wanted to see it change. The community residence movement actually worked. Sheltered workshops worked. But there was still a role for locked wards. Instead they closed down the hospital system completely leaving few beds in regular hospitals for only the most acute cases. And only if you could prove in court the person was a danger to the community. So let the mentally ill roam free on the streets. It sure cost less than hospitalizing them.

208 If you want good shooting practice without the range trip or the expense of ammo I recommend pellet pistols. I have a huge collection and had a range set up in my shop. Used to spend hours just plinking away. After about a year I was invited to go to the range here in town, not my favorite place or people. I was blown away at how good I had gotten. I can't miss now.

Buy a Beeman P17 single shot air pistol, 2000 pellets and find a big box to stuff with many other collapsed boxes. Draw a small circle on the box. Put it down the hallway about 15 or so yards away and fire all 2000 pellets at the circle. Takes a while but within 2000 shots you will have an almost perfect hit rate. I learned to shoot left handed this way too. Cheapest way on Earth to become a trick shot artist.

I also think I can guide bullets with my mind so there is that to consider too but 2000+ pellets is probably a contributing factor.

This is also the only recommendation I will give when someone asks "what sort of gun should I buy to learn to shoot with?"

A BB gun. Learn like I did.

251 > You forget that there is ungodly amounts of money available to support, enable and help these people on the street, and none of it goes to solving any problem.
______________

There's an untapped world of grift out there for the reconstitution of asylums. I'm surprised it hasn't happened. Instead of paltry millions being spread around the "non-profits" that pocket most (all) of the money go big. Get a multi-billion dollar grant from FedGov for an entire family of "mental care" facilities. Use all the right gibberish, inclusive and alphabet mafia words and you're in.

Get patients to drop in and suck their insurance dry. Then get them on the hook when the insurance runs out. Bet the feds would pony up additional billions every year.

Congress would be all over this in a heartbeat. For the kickbacks.

259 Hydrogen generation - if a process uses water as the source of hydrogen, then it will always consume more energy than burning it can produce, because the H-O bond is too strong. The only economical source for Hydrogen is methane, CH4 - but this means Hydrogen is just another nasty fossil fuel.

262 Good morning. Speaking of coming full circle, the lovelyMissus Muldoon and i will be spending the next few days vacationing at a hotel across the street from the site of Fitzsimons Army Medical Center, where we met and fell in love 40 years ago. Celebrated our 38th anniversary earlier this week. Yay us!!
Posted by: Muldoon at July 08, 2023 09:07 AM (kXYt5)

Congrats to you both! You're in rarified air, celebrating 38 years. Most marriages last 3 weeks nowadays, it seems.

Enjoy the memories.....and the emotional remembrance sex!

266 "The clean energy subsidies that undergird President Joe Biden’s climate agenda have just prompted one Norwegian manufacturer to choose Michigan, not Europe, as the site of a nearly $500 million factory that will produce the equipment needed to extract hydrogen from water."

Talk about stupid. It takes more energy to extract hydrogen from water than you can ever get by burning it in an engine or a fuel cell. That's an iron law of thermodynamics. So you are taking high-quality, useful energy, electricity, and turning it into low-quality, less useful energy, hydrogen.

You can produce hydrogen in vast amounts much cheaper by reforming methane, which is how most hydrogen of commerce is made right now.
