Bud Light's Sales Down 30%, With No Signs of Recovering

The drop in sales seems to actually be worsening.

Following the backlash Bud Light is still receiving for its brand partnership with Dylan Mulvaney, the beer brands sales are down nearly 30% from where they were last June.
Bud Light made $26.3 million less in sales the week ending June 25 compared to the same week the previous year. A MoneyWatch report said "Bud Light is showing no signs of rebounding from its slump."
Meanwhile, other beer brands like Coors Light and Modelo Especial have seen a significant bump in their sales for the same time period.

According to beer tracker Bump Williams Consulting, Bud Light sales dropped 28% for the second to last week of June, compared to the same time period from last year.
Respectively, Yuengling, Coors Light and Miller Lite all rose by 22%, 19% and 16% for that same period this year compared to 2022, according to MoneyWatch.
Meanwhile, Circana noted that Modelo and Coors Light each saw their sales grow by around $10 million during that same period.

And these worsening sales come even though Tranheuser-Busch essentially is giving away cases for free.

Sales of the beer in the week ending on June 24 were 27.9 percent lower than during the same period last year. The brand's troubling numbers come despite Bud Light giving out rebates for free beer ahead of Independence Day weekend.
Parent company Anheuser-Busch offered customers a $15 rebate when buying a 15-pack of Budweiser, Bud Light, Budweiser Select, or Budweiser Select 55, meaning free beer in places where the cost of a pack is $15.

They tried releasing another pandering "Mericuh, YEAH!" ad, which everyone can see through.

Budweiser has felt the backlash of social-media users after its Fourth of July ad was accused of being misogynistic and "disgusting."

On July 4, Budweiser shared a 30-second ad that features members of the United States armed forces discussing the educational scholarship program Folds of Honor. "Budweiser has believed in Folds of Honor for 13 years. Today, we honor our veterans and the 44,000 scholarships awarded to their families," the voiceover on the ad says. "Service never stops, and neither will we."
Though the ad makes no mention of the recent controversy surrounding Bud Light, its collaboration with Mulvaney, or any other crossover with the LGBTQ+ community, the comments section was filled with furious replies.
"Using dead soldiers to try to dig back from sponsoring child drag shows and misogyny is beyond disgusting," wrote @ieDougMasters in response. AB InBev has not sponsored any child drag shows that Newsweek is aware of, but the user may be alluding to Bud Light's recent sponsorship of Toronto Pride, which sparked more criticism for the brand.
A number of users called the attempt by Budweiser to curry favor with beer drinkers through the ad as "too little, too late." Twitter user Jeffrey Floyd wrote, "Too late, Budweiser. Too late," while @Bill_Fowler_ posted, "You're ruined."

I guess the "misogyny" charge is about Dylan Mulvaney wearing "womanface" and making a mockery of women.

But this ad will fix everything, right?

We don't know if those sales are synthetic yet, though. We won't know that until the promotion ends.

If they're going to people who are buying the product anyway who are just taking advantage of the deal, then it won't result in a further sales decline. If they're going to people who will happily drop the product and go with something else the moment the promotion ends, then it will hit them when that happens.

I dunno...they are pretty keen on keeping men's wrestling and women's wrestling separated for the most part. They'll do mixed tag matches, but the rules are pretty strict that the women must wrestle the women and the men wrestle the men. Even though it's scripted, WWE does keep safety in mind so that their performers don't get too injured. They are well aware of the power advantage men have over women. Only the beefiest of women (e.g. Chyna) are allowed to "compete" against the men.

66 Anheuser Bush can survive the drop in sales. The people who can't survive that big a bite is the independently owned distributors. A few years back, AB encouraged larger distributors to buy up the smaller ones to streamline the system. They did, incurring hundreds of millions in debt which could be paid off in time if everything went well. It is now officially not going well. There will be massive lawsuits from the distributors to the parent company for corporate fuckmanship.

I think it's also true for beers in general. People grab what they've always grabbed. Quick, easy, no thought involved, and they know what they are gonna get. I personally don't get this mindset, but it's the building block of branding for 90% of basic consumables like beer and to a lesser extent wine.

Despite Apple being about as far left as you can get; they tend to keep their politics to press releases and their own in house stuff. Not like Google, who openly shoves it on people on their home page and services.

I think that's because Steve Jobs was insane, but customer focused. And he was a tyrant. But he always wanted to sell what the customer would buy. Shooting yourself in the foot was not his idea of a good idea. Tim Cook probably knows this. The next CEO, however, likely will try to make sure none of those icky Christians buy a mac or iphone, though.

We'll find out (maybe), but it seems unlikely because if the support ship knew that there was serious trouble and the boat was trying to surface, then lost all communications, why would they wait another several hours to report it and then *not* provide any of that context to the Coast Guard?

I can see waiting for the boat to surface and calling for help when it didn't, but I can't see *knowing* there is a problem - a problem with a paper trail - and then continuing to sit on it for hours before lying to the Coast Guard. The personal liability potential there is pretty huge.

332 I haven't commented much on the sub but I was involved in testing a carbon-carbon pressure vessel in 2008 at a very high tech government facility. The carbon-carbon technology was advertised by the manufacturer as having a soft failure, no catastrophic failure.

Well that tank started leaking over a couple of tests and people were convinced that it had failed in a soft manner. Until the LAST test were a huge hole blew out from the leak site and launched the tank and it's support structure weighting a couple of tons, across the parking lot and blowing in a roll up door with the test team on the other side nearly cutting a guy in half.
