Pets With Pets Cafe

greenhills.jpg

Pet chicken is happy to see her owner.

Labradoodle wants to be picked up, like a baby.

Before you invite a larger dog to jump up to your chest, check your footing.

Releasing an Absolute Unit of a griffon vulture back into the wild.

Big bird building a big nest.

Man rescues a big sea turtle, trapped helplessly between beach rocks.

Aw, a kitty gives a massage to a blind senior dog.

Synchronized gymnastics.

Stunt barkeeping.

Big Lego rollercoaster.

Bringing a blankey to his fren.

Nothing like jumping into cool water on a hot day.

Yeah, I was a huge Lego fanatic in my youth. Building the kits as-is was just the first part, then you could customize them or just make your own thing. But somewhere along the way they went all-in on media franchise tie-ins and very specialized bricks; not sure I'd be as into it today.

I think if they brought back some of the late 80s to mid 90s stuff they'd make a killing on nostalgia. We could all buy those $100 space stations and whatnot that we couldn't afford back then.

I encourage everyone to read the judge's opinion in the case enjoining the govt from colluding with social media. It's long, and good, and goes into the issues around this and case law about it in great detail.

He address "jawboning". The govt can jawbone all it wants, opining 'til it's blue in the face, but it cannot censor speech it doesn't like or coerce private actors into doing so. That's clear as a bell, as a deep constitutional principle.

He goes into detail about the line between jawboning and such coercion. It's a fascinating read. In this case, the govt went so far beyond the mere jawboning line in the sand that it's not even questionable.

Fascinatingly, if the govt crosses that line, it doesn't matter if the private actors would've arrived at the same decision on their own.

If the govt makes threats to coerce, it doesn't matter if those threats are empty or not credible.

>>They tried. Crackling sounds from aft. Red Lights on the flex sensors. Dumped the ballast, dumped the frame, lost Bus A power to the Up Thrusters, switched to Bus B.

They would have suspected they were fucked.

The crackling sounds they heard were more than likely the battery banks in the aft shorting out.

They had ejected the ballast and the platform and were trying to use the thrusters to rise but they had only risen roughly 20 meters in an 8 minute time interval which means their thrusters were not thrusting.

There is some speculation there was some water seeping in from micro fractures and delamination of the carbon fiber in to the aft compartment where the battery banks were as well as the main electronics.

It turns out all three helped with OceanGate's other sub, the one with the steel pressure hull called Cyclops. **

And the news was quickly forgotten, as intended.

Another gem in that judge's ruling is about the govt using deception, lying about something, to accomplish this censorship. To wit:

FBI to social media: "You know, this Hunter Biden laptop shit is Russian disinformation". The judge notes the FBI knew that wasn't the case, but lied about it. This lie was designed to cause social media to censor the laptop story.

Judge says it follows that such deception is also a form of coercion. Govt. can lie all it wants, but if used a lie to trick a private actor into do something it is constitutionally forbidden to do, well, that's unconstitutional.

This is very interesting.

Absolutely no question about it. There are really dire cases that need medicine to help balance out chemicals but nearly everything we do for mental health these days is slapping a bandaid on it and charging more every week because it never gets better.

Worse, for many people all they get is medicine to hide the symptoms of depression, but not its root causes and the damage its doing spiritually and mentally. Sometimes that builds up and people snap, either suicide or going crazy and attacking people.

281 Very pretty picture/painting/AI dream up top.

I need to make an ih-em-gee-err (hopefully that's a good enough dodge for Pixy) album to share some of my fictional character portraits. Artbreeder isn't bad for shoulders-up shots, but the community (not the AI, the humans making the art) can't distinguish between cat, dog and fox ears (a big deal if you play as a kitsune). Night Cafe is more artsy, with interesting contest prompts. But Imagine AI has given me good charcter art with backgrounds.... along with some hilarious meme fodder. I think "Welcome to the Bear Fight Club!" is my current favorite.

I love this. I have wondered if the same thing applies to other interactions between government and "private" business.

For example, if the government issues a vaccine mandate, and a company complies -- when that mandate is declared unconstitutional does a company have to drop their mandate, because they can no longer claim that they would have imposed a mandate anyway without government coersion?

One of the reasons is to give better sight lines to stuff that gets stolen a lot. Another is to make room for new stock. But its always annoying, to everyone, and every store should be extremely hesitant to mess with where everything is. Little old ladies do not have patience or energy to search all over a store for something they used to know exactly where it was.
