11 years ago the fireworks display for San Diego's Fourth of July fireworks show were accidentally all set off at once.

How to protect your dog against trauma from fireworks.

The Babylon Bee:

Dad Unsure Why He Should Take Family To Free Fireworks Extravaganza When He Can Do Five-Minute Show In Driveway For $800

SPRINGFIELD, MA -- Local father of three Drake Burlingham is reportedly unsure if he should take his children to the free fireworks show at nearby Blunt Park since he can put on his own show in the driveway for the low price of $800.

"It'll be great, kids!" Burlingham explained to his children as his wife looked on in concern. "Sure, it'll be a shorter show, but it'll be more chaotic and unpredictable just as the founding fathers probably intended!"

"You don't want to anger George Washington's ghost, do you?"

The Burlingham children were ecstatic about the possibilities. Their mother, however, expressed skepticism. "Someone's gonna get hurt!" said Sally Burlingham. "And now I can't afford groceries for the next three weeks!"

"I promise, you'll remember this forever," said Burlingham. "It'll be the best five minutes of your life!"

At publishing time, the show had lasted only 34 seconds and had landed Drake Burlingham in the ER for severe burns.

And here's that firework show:

Gavin Newsom banned fireworks shows in 2020, because people might spread covid standing ten feet apart from each other outdoors. Note that he gave the greenlight to BLM riots, of course.

During the covid lockdowns, people in Los Angeles protested by setting off illegal fireworks. Now that's America.

Amazingly, Jeff Bezos' leftwing corporate newsletter the Washington Post complained that fireworks contribute to... wait for it... Climate Change.

Climate reporters for the Washington Post lectured how fireworks from 4th of July celebrations will exacerbate air pollution caused by recent wildfires.

As millions of Americans prepare to celebrate the nation's founding with a traditional fireworks display, climate reporters Kasha Patel and Kate Selig warned that these displays spread harmful pollutants. The piece went as far as to refer to the holiday as "the most polluted day of the year."

"It may come as a surprise, but the federal holiday stands out as the most polluted day of the year in many locations across the nation, according to air quality data. Fireworks -- the staple of Independence Day celebrations -- light up the sky but also launch harmful pollutants. In some cases, the pollution levels from the pyrotechnics are similar to severe wildfire smoke," the article read.

The piece compared the level of smoke and air pollution to recent Canadian wildfires that caused thick and hazy smoke to spread throughout the East Coast of the United States.

...

California nonprofit Coalition for Clean Air policy director Bill Magavern argued that this event suggests there should be a shift in how Americans celebrate July 4th.

"At a time when climate change is exacerbating air pollution and wildfires, we need to find cleaner substitutes for fireworks, especially in areas with poor air quality," Magavern said.

Meanwhile, many towns and cities are replacing fireworks shows with drone shows, because they hate life and hate children even more.

We still should celebrate the "joy" of anonymous gay f***pile orgies during a monkeypox epidemic though, right?

There was a band playing pop style Christian music, food, kids playing, people chatting and generally everbody having a good time. The fireworks were wonderful and we had a lot of fun.

52 The rebel fireworks show is interesting in another way, too. When normal people watch as criminals have nothing done to them, they begin to learn and wonder why they're being so obedient and not doing things like shooting banned fireworks that they were able to buy and shoot not even four or five years ago.

Normal people begin to accept that the law is only the law when it's applied. It's not a good thing that they learn that, but they learn it nonetheless.

Get it as hot as possible. Cook on both sides for three minutes. Cover with foil for three minutes.

Doesn't matter what you're cooking, that's going to work.

90 I will never forget the 4th of July in Stevenson one year. They couldn't afford a professional show so everyone would take their to Hegewald Park and set them off. Exciting because little kids sometimes aimed a bit low.

There was a black family from Chicago, passing through, that stopped for a rest. They asked us what was going on. We explained and the dad's eyes lit up. He headed over to a fireworks stand, bought a bunch and came back to let his kids run around and fire them off. It's what the 4th should be.

You probably know this already, but thought it was interesting:

We have a Local Nursery owner and his family who do a weekend infomercial on local radio (specialize in flora for the Arizona Central Highland) -- which is quite informative and entertaining. Anyway, he mentioned that if you're growing corn and you start to see the "tassels" emerge, wait a couple of days and coat them with a drop of mineral oil.

It protects it from worms getting inside the corn husks.

Excellent point. I did some analysis here in AZ and ballot harvesting from merely the three big universities alone were far more than enough to steal the last couple of Senate seats as well as the Governor's seat from Kari Lake last year (not to mention the overt in-your-face theft via non-working ballot-reading machines in Maricopa County).

I'd found the approximate numbers of undergrad & graduate students each for Arizona State University (100,000), the University of Arizona (60,000), and Northern Arizona University (35,000) and posted them here a couple of times before -- so nearly 200,000 votes easily harvested there alone.

260 I wonder how this might work for an Independence Day celebration over a lake. You start with drones doing a light display several hundred feet in the air, and mix in Roman candles firing into the same airspace. For added effects, the drones could emit a large colored cloud when they’re hit.

If it needs some competition, you award points for each hit by a Roman candle. The surviving drones get scored on style, acrobatics, and evasion tactics.

I think I’d enjoy that type of drone display,

There was this really stupid tweet making the rounds about how women are fertile into their 50s and how 35 is peak fertility. No wonder they can't have babies.

My now departed MIL had a child in her mid 40's. He went on to drug and alcohol issues, killed a couple of people, went to jail, found Jesus, and still conspired to rip my wife off of her share of an inheritance.

Down's Syndrome is big in older women too. Those eggs don't get any fresher after legal age. But what do I know since I don't have a Twitter account?

276 Two great fireworks experiences from the memory banks: Mid-90's, riding Amtrak from Albany to Lima with young son, running at top speed through off-the-main-road towns while they had their local event on the main drag. Caught about half a dozen shows that night, for a minute or two each.

And, just outside south gate of Glacier, staying a cheap motel up a hill and looking up the lake about ten miles, where everybody at a cabin or campsite was putting on their own small private conflagration over the water -- but there were scores of them, and it went on for hours.

A quiet way to enjoy fireworks.
