Good Guy With a Gun Turns an Active Shooter Into a Decidedly Inactive One
Another good guy with a gun stepped in to save lives on Friday, this time in Las Vegas. An active shooter entered Turnberry Towers, firing off shots toward the front desk. That's when he was confronted with something he likely wasn't expecting: An armed employee. The employee, who has not been identified, drew on the would-be mass murderer, causing him to flee by shooting out the inner glass. Before reaching the outer door to escape into the street and possibly shoot other people, though, the active shooter is taken down hard.Caution: Video shows this active shooter getting plugged.

This is bullshit. All of this happened within seconds. Further, if someone simply turns his back and moves, this is not proof that he is "no threat." He may just be seeking cover before he turns and fires again. He did not drop his gun. He remained a threat to the life of the citizen, and anyone else for blocks around.
I hate this stupid prosecutor's idea so much, that a man with his back to you is not a threat. Further, prosecutors love to stretch the idea of a perp's "back" by defining the "back" as the 180 degrees from the middle of your side all the way over to the same point on the other side. So if a perp is shot in the rear half of their side while running sideways and shooting, they were shot in the "back."
If you watch videos of active gunfights on youtube, especially ones with young gang looking guys shooting, they'll often hop around with their side exposed to the other shooter, arm stretched out toward the other shooter. They almost never take an actual shooter's stance, square to the target.

That one was awful, but the homeowner was an idiot. If you get a knock in the middle of the night and you don't know who's there, don't freaking walk out the front door with a gun. Whether it's a bad guy, a good guy, or someone in between, it's bad tactics.
There's a reason police call doorways vertical coffins. It's a choke point. If a bad guy is outside and they intend you great harm, they know exactly where you're going to be and you don't know shit. They have the drop on you. They can back up into the shadows and light you up before you can even identify the threat.
Much better to not answer and post up somewhere inside with a gun and wait. If they break in, stop the threat.

For the most part, it is a failure to keep one's fingers out of the trigger guard until ready to shoot.
That is a training issue. Glocks, for example, don't fire themselves but they do harshly treat folks that insist on keeping their booger hooks inside the trigger guard on drawing the firearm. It is the operator and not the equipment at fault.
Almost all modern handguns today are drop safe and manufacturers generally issue immediate recalls if they receive even one or two incidents.
Occasionally, there have been some relatively problematic holsters or something gets caught in the trigger guard on draw such as a jacket string but almost always it is the fault of the operator of the firearm for NDs. The Four Laws of operating firearms if followed though can reduce the risk that the ND causes problems.

Glocks are pretensioned strikers and it is relatively easy to block a striker internally. Mausers did it in the 1890's in rifles for example.

I really don't understand this philosophy. In a gunfight, your first shot is nearly always your best shot. Why make that shot more difficult? Get a good holster and practice the four laws.
In every human endeavor, when you want to get really REALLY good at something, the universal coaching advice is to do that thing right, and be consistent. A heavy trigger pull on the first shot only is INTENTIONALLY making your gun an inconsistent device.

There is the argument that an occupied area, or one under martial law should not vote because of the possibility of subject citizens to be manipulated or pressured into voting a certain way. It is hard to guarantee an open and free vote when there is a real possibility of summary arrest or restriction of civil rights.

My Sig has a decocker. I got into the habit of decocking the hammer before holstering the gun. The folks at the Sig Sauer Academy had me get into that habit as there is no safety on the gun.
I think it is better to have the handgun in DA mode when drawing from holster, less chance of round going off if you accidently hit the trigger if it was in SA.

No disagreement at all on that. If I had a DA/SA I would use the decocker as designed. My left brain has full confidence in the mechanism but my right brain just can't get comfortable with dropping the hammer on a loaded chamber without expecting a bang.

It all depends on what the Donks want to do with Joe Stolen. God knows that most of the GOP lacks the courage needed to deal with his corruption.
It would be ironic if he ultimately does get ejected from the White House. If he had not gotten "elected" POTUS, he could have enjoyed his ill-gotten wealth and molested more tweens without anybody being any wiser.
