There's an old TV show I like called One Step Beyond. It's similar to Twilight Zone, but all the stories are supposedly true. Sort of early paranormal.

Anyhoo, it had an episode about the Titanic with people have premonitions and such. They covered that book written in 1898.

My cat will play the piano if we leave the lid open.
Usually about 3am.
Sometimes he sits on the bench and it's just one note, over and over. Other times he strolls from top note to bottom or vice versa. All 4 paws sounding different notes. He can get 6 note chords going.
It's amusing for about, oh, 10 or 20 seconds.

There is very little of the novel that made it unchanged into the film. The T-Rex attack in the rain, and maybe Dennis stealing the embryos, and a couple of other things. If you read it and then watch the movie back to back, you'll see what Spielberg's writer got right was the tone and the flavor, and the best action scenes. That's okay, though. It's a fantastic adventure either way.

20 Well, the family just finished watching another 80's film which we had never seen before-"Big Trouble in Little China". It was very entertaining, fast paced with good imaginative visuals, interesting story and humor. Kim Cattrall was very cute and Kurt Russell's John Wayne imitation made me laugh. I would much rather see this than John Carpenter's "Halloween."

35 Puppies meeting kittens: Remember, dogs and cats are not natural enemies. There's no wiring in the dog's head that says "Kitten! Kill!" (Individual dogs, maybe even some breeds, may have that wiring, but I don't think it's a species-wide trait.)

And the first kitten out of the carrier? Ringleader material. Probably brighter than his littermates, too. A future bundle of trouble for his humans.

The monster isn't so much "ravening" as it is . . . well, I can't think of a word, but it's not the Creature From the Black Lagoon or the Wolf Man. "Adaptable," maybe. Much more subtle and a much better adaptation of the original novelette, "Who Goes There?", than was the 1951 The Thing. Though there are some effects that are pretty gross.

Yeah, "rich as Creases" as one example. Plus the story is very much the kind of thing we've seen in big-screen copy films and TV movies for many years now. I've just finished going over his ms. for tomorrow night's meeting, and there's a lot of red on the pages. Story starts off well, he draws the characters nicely, but eeg, he has a lot of typos and unnecessary italics.

Lots and lots of hyphenated descriptions, where hyphens are not warranted. It's almost enough to make me quit the book, but the story is juuuust interesting enough to keep me in it.

BinA, just for old times sake, we drove down to the Flats yesterday before getting to Cleveland Clinic. My wife was simply astounded - she had never been in the middle of a big steel plant area before. I told her she should have seen it 45 years ago! - So much of the old plants are gone.
