Care to bet how often this will be used to protect abortion protesters at Planned Parenthood abattoirs or parents protesting against grooming in their kids' kindergartens? Because those folks are regularly set upon, both verbally and physically, by the thugs of the Democrat party because of their religious principles or their sexual orientation (or is being normal not considered an orientation?).

Michigan can now censor you if you hurt someone's feelings

Michigan’s Democratic House passed legislation on Tuesday that enables attorneys to shut down “hate speech.” The new House Bill 4474 is a vague and unconstitutional censorship law that determines “feeling threatened” as reasonable grounds to prosecute offenders.
The punishment for making someone “feel threatened” in Michigan is five years in jail and a $10,000 fine.
An alternate sentence proposes “community service” in order to “enhance the offender’s understanding of the impact of the offense upon the victim and wider community.”
The problematic language about “feelings” can be found in the bill’s definition of “intimidation” as “willful course of conduct, involving repeated or continuing harassment of another individual that would cause a reasonable individual to feel terrorized, frightened, intimidated, threatened, harassed, or molested, and that actually causes the victim to feel terrorized, frightened, or threatened.”

This smacks of the worst excesses of the various communist/socialist dictatorships of the past 100 years, is patently unconstitutional, and affront to all that is traditional American political and social behavior, and right up the Democrat party's alley!

The only question is whether Gretchen Whitmer, Michigan's version of Madame Mao, will sign it. The power it grants to the jack-booted thugs of the left is too tempting to be tempered by quaint ideas of freedom and liberty and the rule of law, and stomping on the United States Constitution is part and parcel of her ilk, so my bet is that she will sign it in company with the usual suspects: Homosexual Inc, Prtizker-funded tranny goons, BLM thugs, and any other divisive pressure group she can think of.

Whitmer is a rising star in the Democrat party, and her name has been mentioned as a possible national candidate, although she claims that she will not challenge the current drooling idiot in the White House. But she is a perfect example of the new breed of Democrat/socialist politician...unencumbered by outmoded ideas of the rule of law, and willing to use the power of the state to further her political ambitions and crush dissent.

Because that is exactly what this law is designed to do...destroy any possibility of articulating political differences without running afoul of the state security apparatus. If this is signed into law, the jack-booted thugs WILL come for you if you speak ill of the preferred groups, and trust me, traditional religion and culture is not preferred!

They just made two rulings which contradict each other... on one hand saying that the part of the Law about encouraging and abetting illegals to come to this country is constitutional and enforceable... while also saying NO ONE has standing to sue the Feds for NOT enforcing their own immigration laws. I didn't read the article, but I believe Lake is being sued by one of those Maricopa County Republican assholes. I don't know which one, but it's defamation and all that, so I'm assuming it was one of them who was in on the scam of installing Abortion Barbie in the Gov's office.

Repeatedly making off-color jokes and 'a reasonable person' would feel harassed; at least they do allow that a special snowflake might feel harassed by one barely vulgar joke.
