A few years before C19, there was a TED talk by a Moderna executive tying the development of mRNA based treatments with curing cancer and other ailments. The problem with the mRNA treatment itself is that it would be profoundly difficult (read expensive and long duration) to test because of the specialized ways it would have to be concocted for each targeted cancer.

If the mRNA technology fell under the protective umbrella of vaccines, then all is well and the product could leave a trail of death and maiming that goes over the horizon without any liability other than reputational (which Pfizer bought off through billions in advertisement and good will via media).

I believe they did know. They had been working on mRNA technology for 20 years and had achieved little more than killing their animal test subjects. Their response to that was to tweak the formula and call it good. Then the early trials showed high rates of adverse events. This was obfuscated by using a placebo that was NOT saline which contained many of the problem components but left out the mRNA. So the death rates in treatment and control groups were more similar than they otherwise would have been. And they categorized things like miscarriages as "resolved" (no harm done) because the mother survived.

I think the term "experimental" means something.
Not that they were injecting people with random shit to see what happens, there was surely a mehtod to the madness, but there is a reason why various lot numbers had wide variations in hthe side effects.

They were experimenting.

Motivating some version of honesty was The Big Payoff - a monopoly on a bona fide vaccine to who came up with it first.

One thing to remember: the pharmaceuticals delayed the release of the vaccine until after the election. Whatever their motivation, they worked to ensure Trump got no credit.

My BMI is in the normal range, but upper normal. I wear a size 4. I have ab definition at 52, after babies and after other changes that don’t do amazing things for women’s figures. BMI is very flawed.
