Meet The PetMorons

Cora j23.jpg

From Jewells:

This is Cora, a chiweenie whose owner passed away. She was definitely well fed so she will be on a diet for awhile! Very sweet and a cuddle bug. She's has already been integrated with Audrey who now share a room together!

What eyes on that little dog! Looks like she will get along fine with Audrey!

Hi K.T.,

Been a few years since i sent in my Petmoron contribution.

Attached is JoeBeau, our rescue beagle. I call this pic, Dog Save the King, as Mrs. Goatexchange is a Brit, naturalized American.

Thank you!!

Goatexchange

A great photo of a great dog!

Hi,

This is a before and after of Mom's half St. Bernard half border collie Sebastian (named for Sebastian Bach, and he's loud enough to merit it).

Prince Ludwig the Deplorable

Wow. Too cute for words as a puppy, and a beautiful dog, too! And I like the name.

My Idaho Dobbies

Geddy watching the new chicks (she thinks they're snack food), Bailey laying in the sedum feeling like a princess and Charlie lounging after chasing the birds (she hasn't caught one yet).

S.Lynn, Idaho

Handsom dogs, as always.

10 I heard this morning about a help wanted add for a dog watcher posted by a couple in London.
This person would be fully responsible for the care of the family dog.
He would have to feed and water the dog. Buy the dog food and make sure the food was the best. They would to walk the dog and arrange doggie play dates. He would also be required to go along on holiday trips.
Compensation would be a cottage to live in and $127,000 annually.
Wow! But why do they have a dog when they don't want to have anything to do with it.

Posted by: That Northernlurker what lurkd at June 24, 2023 03:32 PM (VdGjU)

11 Walk time estimate seems about right. Our bernedoodle is in the throes of second heat, but not yet 18 months . . so breeder sez we wait until next time.

So another week or two of walk, stop to sniff the air, walk, stop to mark, walk, stop to sniff a light pole, walk, stop to groom the privates looms.

Luckily she's not too crazy while in the house.

I should add to that: check the embassy webpage of the country to which you are flying to see the rules and regs of bringing pets. Some places have quarantines, some don't, others require a lot more shots/paperwork from Dept of Agriculture in addition to vet papers. Give yourself plenty of time to get this done and have triplicate papers when you deal with the airlines and customs of your arrival destination. And if you are going to Europe/Mideast, fly through Frankfurt. They take amazing care of pets at the airport there.

36 Afternoon, folken! As some of you may remember, Dagny Sophia the Siberian kitten was slated for her snip yesterday. She came through with no troubles, no need for home meds, etc. They sent me home with the plastic cone for her ($13), but when we tried putting it on her she freaked! She raced back and forth around my place, trying to outrun this *thing* around her head, thus defeating the purpose of trying to keep her from being too active. We snared her and got it off. She shows no interest in her incision, so maybe it wasn't needed.

Since then she's been resting, sleeping, and eating. She doesn't seem to hate me, and is less active since her "brother" Stirling is off to a few days of "summer camp" at Miss Linda's.

40 Wolfus, Mrs. E had a rescue some jackass threw out, orange stripedy lomghair tomcat. He hung around almost 3 weeks before meeting another well-known moron who said he'd him. Yesterday he was snipped, tested, vaccinated, and tattooed. The tomcat, not the moron. This must be part cooncat cause his paws are big as a biscuit. I expect him to grow big. Maybe this moron will send KT some cat pictures.

Saw two beautiful Shi Tzus on my walk today, and a gorgeous young Shiba. I told two of the lucky owners that I’d picked a good day for a botanical-garden stroll. One woman replied, “I think we’re having a parade.” The pets here would’ve made it perfect.

He sounds like my long-ago buddy red tabby-with-white Arizona, who was an SPCA Special -- a tiny bright-eyed kitten with big ears and paws. I didn't know he'd be longhaired; I'd never had a longhair before and thought his coat was just kitten fuzzies. He grew like a weed into a beautiful collie-like part-Coon, 14 lbs. and not fat. And my late Wolf, longhaired and black, was another abandoned cat (though as an adult). Sometimes they, and we, get lucky.

That white-and-black looks much like my late Chekov. Though a good part of his barrel-shape was from his breed, Siberian, and even more was from his thick triple coat.

None of my cats needed the Cone of Shame when they were snipped. They licked the site of the incision a few times and that was about it.

I still have few pics of my first cat, Penny with a bald belly.

47 I am probably going to move the stray, that I call Mr. Trouble, into the house come cold weather. He could belong to a neighbor but I'm sure I saw him out across the street during below freezing weather. He's a young tom and thinks I have great cat food. I am starting to get him used to the idea that Jake won't hurt him. Meanwhile, I do have an outside cat house set up for him. He likes to hang out in the weeds at the back of the place. When the time comes, I'll take him in, have him neutered and chipped, and get his shots.

Both Stirling and Dagny like hanging out in their carriers, and so it's no trouble getting them in. After the battles I've had with other felines, I'm very pleased. Dagny seems to have taken the trip, the handling by strange humans, and the quiet recovery without Stirling all in her stride.

Ever since Arizona, I've considered longhairs to be the best. Sometimes they get stuff in their fur and have to have it snipped out. But most of mine did not need regular brushing -- they had silky fur rather than Persian fur, which does mat and tangle. And though I've loved all my shorthairs, longhaired cats look more . . . filled out, somehow.

56 He's Mr Trouble because he already hooked Jake in the eye. So I would have Jake out and see him at the back of the place, headed for the house and I'd say "Here comes trouble". Kinda stuck. He seems pretty smart, understands that Jake is out on a lead. But it will be a slow process to move him inside and I'll have to do that to have him neutered. And tom cats outside don't have long lives.

The stray, not feral, I've nicknamed Alfred the Gray i(shorthaired, skinny, but bright-eyed) s still visiting nearly every day for dry food on the step. I cannot take him in; two cats is my limit, and that's pushing it, in a two-room apartment. (I haven't crossed into the territory of the Crazy Cat People, but with a spyglass I can see the border from here.)
