Activision/Blizzard Video Game Company Decides To Join the Bud Light/Target Brigade, Demands to be Boycotted

NickMercs is the screenname of a famous Code of Duty videogame streamer. He's so famous that Call of Duty created a playable character for him which you can play in-game.

NickMercs also wants to Erase the Existence of Trans People. That is the Regime-approved smear for anyone who isn't keen to have the sick religion of transgenderism preached to their children in Regime-controlled schools.

Well, Activision/Blizzard isn't going to stand by and allow people to express reasonable positions with 85% public support. The cancelled NickMercs' in game character and declared that their priority is celebrating "PRIDE" month.

Activision Blizzard has cancelled their collaborative partnership with FaZe Clan co-owner Nicholas "Nickmercs" Kolcheff after the popular streamer voiced his belief that LGBT activists groups should "leave the kids alone".
Kolcheff, who joined what is arguably the world's most well known esports team in May 2019 before subsequently becoming a co-owner sometime in April 2021, offered his opinion on the current state of LGBT activism in response to a recent protest against the Glendale Unified School District's proposal to formally recognize June as

On January 6th in Glendale, California, the school board meeting in which officials would be voting on the resolution found itself inundated with parents -- primarily from the local Armenian and Hispanic communities, both of which are highly conservative -- who sought to voice their discontent with the district's goal of teaching and promoting LGBTQ-related topics.

In turn, Kolcheff's Tweet was met with a wave of backlash from the general public, many of whom took his statement as a pedophilic generalization against all LGBTQ+ members rather than a commentary on the group's aggressive activism.

I doubt there was a "wave" of backlash from the "general public." There was some shrieking from the same 100 bot accounts that always shriek.

Two days later, Call of Duty-centric Twitter news account @charlieINTEL would discover that Activision Blizzard had seemingly "removed the Nickmercs bundle from the Warzone and MWII store this evening."
"Activision has not commented on why it has been removed," they explained, "but the removal of his bundle comes a day after Nickmercs' recent comments about the LGBT+ community."
Released on May 31st, the aptly named Tracer Pack: Nickmercs Operator Bundle included two different in-game skins -- one featuring the esports personality wearing a spartan helmet and the other a 'hooded' variant -- two gun blueprints, one finishing move, a charm, an emblem, a sticker, and a loading screen, all of which was themed after Kolcheff's online persona.

Roughly two minutes later, the official Call of Duty Twitter account would respond to @charlieINTEL and confirm, "Due to recent events, we have removed the "NICKMERCS Operator" bundle from the Modern Warfare II and Warzone store."
"We are focused on celebrating PRIDE with our employees and our community," they concluded.

Activision -- "Activism," amirite? -- had better watch out. Videogamers famously do not like being bullied to adopt far leftwing position. There was a consumer movement called "GamerGate" about this.

And now the boycott is on, as other famous videogame commentators and Call of Duty players stand in solidarity with NickMercs.

Popular streamer Dr Disrespect called on gamers to uninstall Call of Duty and demanded Activision Blizzard issue an apology to NICKMERCS after the company removed his operator bundle from the game for telling LGBTQ+ activists to "leave the kids alone."

Call of Duty would confirm on June 8th that they removed the NICKMERCS Operator bundle "due to recent events."
The company tweeted, "Due to recent events, we have removed the "NICKMERCS Operator" bundle from the Modern Warfare II and Warzone store. We are focused on celebrating PRIDE with our employees and our community."

Fellow streamer TimTheTatman would request that Call of Duty remove his bundle as well if they were going to remove NICKMERCS.
He tweeted, "NICKMERCS has been my friend for years- we went in getting our CoD operators together. It feels wrong for me to have mine and him no longer have his. In support of my friend, please remove the timthetatman bundle."

And Activism duly did.

A first-person military shooting game probably has a supermajority conservative base -- and there are ten other essentially-equivalent games. We can crush Activism even more thoroughly than we're crushing Bud Light.

Update:

Microsoft is in the process of acquiring Activision for $68B, but the FTC is trying to block the deal. Maybe this is a calculated bribe to the ESG crowd.

Maybe the best thing happening is that there is blood in the water. Guild Wars II doesn't have that problem at end game. I started playing it to complete therapy on a broken wrist a few years back. The highest level of gear just allows you to change the stats freely had has better visual effects. Been going 10 years that way.

Well, not defeated yet but the first rush was caught even before the first fortified line and chopped up. Columns clearing mines from the roads for tanks and infantry carriers got stopped when the clearers were hit, then when they tried going around they found more mines. When they turned back, they found Russians had used rockets to drop mines *behind* them, causing more losses. Counterattacks restored the original front.

Phase II has resulted in a few villages being held, but only in a narrow sector. Russians hold the flanks, and they still aren't at the first fortified line. There are many of these lines. Vehicle losses are heavy, as the land here is flat as a pool table.

It's all looking very Kursk-y, but the North attack rather than the more famous attack on the south part of the bulge where the tanks mixed it up.

I'd have to make a character on the US server, I'm only playing when my brit buddy is online. Maybe at some point.

Basically Paul (Brit), Joel, and I were the core of our WoW guild and when Joel died, neither of us could stand to be on Warcraft any longer because it just reminded us so much of him it hurt. So we looked around and have been just playing ESO once or twice a week.

Between us and companions we can do pretty much any dungeon so its good enough for now. Mostly its just a way to stay in touch.

I have no doubt that US military would curbstomp the Russian one, but we're mostly there as advisors etc.

Their last expansion swiped a lot of stuff from Guild Wars II, including the Griffon mount fly mechanics to the last detail.

Supposedly that's the only bright spot of the expansion too. I don't mind them swiping stuff, they were keeping things really great and on the cutting edge by adapting the best mods and features from other games. Then they lost their way with borrowed power mechanics and railroad leveling.

So, when the original came out I was working IT and sometimes had to come into the facility at night to do maintenance on various systems. Usually backups that were not scheduled/automatic or various system operations to keep things humming along.

So, a coworker and I had several hours to kill and since we were able to install whatever we wanted on our own workstations installed DOOM. And proceeded to setup a LAN deathmatch session on the network. This was also about the time that PC external speakers came on the market and we each had a set.

So... we got to it. It sounded like a war zone. So much so one the night guards rushed into our workspace, weapon drawn, thinking there was "a situation." It took a few minutes to get everyone calmed down, but once we showed him what we were doing he grinned and pulled up a chair to watch the mayhem.

Later "maintenance evenings" brought him, some of his coworkers and some more of ours for early LAN party DOOM deathmatch goodness.

The USSR was dependent basically immediately on US supplies. And the Germans had to defend Western Europe/Africa from the allies and then deal with massive industrial bombing.

Probably. Until 43 what the allies did had almost no impact on Russian Front. Lend Lease helped but didn't produce the weapons used - they tended to use them for training since they lasted longer. Trucks sent were useful in supporting the offensives and making them last longer, but not a war winner.

Brand new tires on them, with the little squiggly rubber tits that new tires have, and coats of black shoe polish - completely dry rotted from baking in the sun. Took weeks to fix all the broke ass guard trucks

Been there and did that in the 70s. Ground zero for any Soviet high jinks. Was infantry and our strategy was to hunker down in our fox holes and let the Russian tanks run over our positions and then whoever was left was to pop up and engage the Infantry following the tanks.

We didn't carry anything that we could engage the Soviet tanks with head on, the Dragon missile was junk with limited range, a huge back blast signature and a wonky warhead that didn't always work. Some years after I left Germany they got TOW missiles that stood a good chance of stopping tanks.

And the supposed rail advantage is an illusion, since Germany would have to rebuild every train track and station before they can be used. The gauge is different, and the german engines needed stations more closely spaced.

There are several side to side links to the east before the Urals, and of course the hub and spoke means that the Soviets could go straight for Moscow.

Only a small fraction of total Lend-Lease to Russia was sent in 1941. Some fraction of that would have reached units behind the lines and used in the Russian counter-offensives.

The Germans could not knock out the Soviet Union in 1941 because they had badly out-run their supply lines, few replacement trucks, tanks, artillery tubes, and heavy artillery ammunition was getting to forward units, the German Army had few reserve units, and there were a number of other issues. The tank, truck, and half-track maintenance situation was bad because the Germans at that time relied on depot, not forward maintenance shops. Losses had been heavier than projected. Vehicle fuel use had been higher than predicted. And the Russians fought like hell beginning in October.

As for the reinforcements - yes, great. But my point is that there was Lend-Lease equipment coming into the country even in 1941. And every last piece of it took a little pressure off of the Soviet war effort.

Get supplies to where? Army Groups North and South had ceased general offensive operations in October/November to increase supplies to the Moscow offensive by Army Group Center. The Russians also would have put as many men women and children as needed to work to build new railway lines shunting past Moscow. I say again, Lend-Lease weapons and munitions in 1941 were small. US nor UK were manufacturing ammo that worked in Russian weapons in quantity in 1941.

See that's a bad example since all that stuff is made in China, regardless of where it was designed. However Leopard tanks are made in Germany.
