Thinking about getting Dad season tickets to some sport?

antitrust e.jfif

Grass roots effort? Dunno.

Good morning, Sports Fans! There have been some things going on in the World of Sports lately, just in time for Father's Day.

Have you been thinking about getting Dad some season tickets to his favorite sport? Are you confident that there will not be something odd happening in the near future which will disrupt the normal playing season?

Last night in the ONT, WeirdDave linked a video of the crowd protesting the Dodger's decision to honor the Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence. It sort of seems to me that some of the Sisters would be unable to engage in much sport besides mocking nuns. Though Sister Ray Dee O'Active of the Washington D.C. Chapter may have engaged in a high heel race at some point.

Mike Lee issued several Tweets about the Dodger recognition of the Sisters, including the one with the photo below:

Nothing says "hate" like mocking the sacred. . .

It's time to revoke MLB's antitrust exemption.

So, are there problems that go beyond the Dodgers that could interfere with America's Pastime?

Thought about revoking special exemptions and other special deals for outfits that are tearing our civilization apart?

5R sisters.jfif

Marco Rubio couldn't even get the LA Times to consider his op-ed on anti-Catholic hate in America's National Pastime. He had to publish it in The Federalist.

Anyway, here's what the crowd looked like in the stadium while the Sisters were being honored. Sure it was an hour before the game, but people generally show up early these days. Not this time.

Might it be better to suggest that, instead of getting season tickets to combat lonliness, Dad could join the Mafia?

You get supportive male friends . . . and more.

Got any other ideas for Dads on Father's Day?

11 Heather Heyring is married to Bret Weinstein, IIRC they were both hounded out of Evergreen State College by bat-wielding students.

The cancelling of her detrans film is just a blip on the radar. Detransitioners are gaining a following on YT and of course Twitter. Jordan Peterson's interview with Chloe Cole has 3.5 million viewers as of this writing.

There's a whistleblower from a child butchery clinic, who herself identifies as trans, Jamie Reed. She also is establishing a presence on the socials. Trying to suppress the info about detrans is like playing whack-a-mole.

13 If your dad is over 50, going and doing something with your dad will likely make them happy.

It doesn't have to even be doing something you think your dad likes to do, just tell him you need some help or some company doing something like or need to do.

We like to catch up on how you are doing, but we aren't likely to bug you from out of the blue or text you or message you. We figure you have busy lives and we are happy to see you enjoying them.

But it's pretty cool when you ask us to do something with you or help you with something. It's like a signal that we didn't mess you up raising you, make you hate us, and that you think we have some wisdom and value that you still like to tap into every now and again.

17 During my dad's last years, and the last time I saw him on Father's Day, I took my son to their retirement place. They had a duplex and it had a little deck out back. The community sort of frowned on outside grilling, but I bought one of those little, tabletop Webber grills and did steaks for my folks, son and myself.

I think my dad really appreciated it. I think it was the last time my son saw his grandfather alive too.

No, it's an insidious, behind the scenes cabal, FORCING most of these businesses to comply. And whatever you want to call it, it's not capitalism. And it goes beyond ESG scores. It's more sinister than that.

So yeah, fine. Boycott Butt Lite, and the Trannie Dodgers, and Targay. Boycott, but realize your world is being shrunk, and fighting back is going to have to get bloody. Sorry, it just will.

23 We just said goodbye to a young couple of newlyweds (8 months ago), one of whom was the offspring of very good friends of ours. They're just starting out, looking for apartments, and preparing for grad school.

It reminded me of just how far the wife and I have come in our 29 years. We have 4 kids, grandkids, rewarding careers, a house with plenty of room for guests, good food and drink, etc. IOW, a life well lived (so far).

It's nice to see kids starting out and looking at us as both ancient, and very lucky, which we are. I was asked what I wanted for Father's Day. I said don't worry about it, I already have it.

Then I'd see if he wanted to go to church tomorrow, which he wouldn't, but then he'd probably text me at 8 pm tonight and say that he would like to go.

He was like that. He learned to gradually peel away his desire to always be "in charge" and trust those that could be trusted, even if he didn't particularly trust the world around him or the intentions of society.

The Intellectual Dark Web was a moniker created by Jordan Peterson, and unfortunately turned out to not be as much a descriptor for a movement, as much as a title put on a bunch of people who happened to be "in the same room" for the moment.

That being said, Jordan Peterson, James Lindsey, Heather Heyring and Bret Weinstein are pretty good explaining things even if I disagree with their conclusions.

Yeah, that's nice, but everything eventually flows through the Banking Industrial Complex. And again, you don't have a bunch of bank execs sitting around saying how there hasn't been enough kowtowing to the trannies. They're certainly not sitting around saying "you know, we tried that giving home loans to everyone once before, let's see if we can make it work this time."

It's not about the banks. It's deeper still.

One thing I'd always like to challenge JP on is his theory that the social engineering occurring in major corporations is driven by the desire of CEOs to assuage their guilt for being successful.

As insightful as he is in understanding the mind of totalitarians, I can't believe he gets this so wrong.

People at the top of the hierarchy don't often look at their success and think "I'm undeserving".

They more often look at their success and think "My success validates my thoughts that I'm superior to others and I can impose my ways for their own good in good conscious".

Sometimes the latter is true, sometimes not so much.

139 Megan got inside the castle, took one look around, saw what evil monsters there people are, and told her husband she was leaving, with or without him. He left.

I think that Meghan was also shocked to discover that Harry didn't actually have much money.

The Royal Family collectively has money, but the residences, the allowances, etc. for the various Royals are "grace and favor" grants from the Sovereign. Harry didn't own his residence in London, for example.

So Meghan devised a scheme to make them actually wealthy - we'll see how that works out.

Yeah, when I was over there, we called ourselves the speed bump to slow down the tanks. The assumption was, the Soviets would be killing most of us with artillery, and those of us who were left would be overrun by the tanks.

So we were there to slow them down, to get the brass (and their families) out of West Germany, so the real battle could start.

It's you having something I want, and me either having something you want, or the guy who sold you what you have, or the guy who sold him what he sold to you wants something I have. And we use fake paper to signify those basic wants and needs, effectively enough to let all of us figure out our place in the system.

It works.

What we do now though, is have fake people, doing fake things that nobody wants or needs, and those people tend to accumulate MOST of the fake signifiers of value. While we scrape and claw for those things we want, on the edges of their MUCH bigger game.

I know he has delved into Christianity quite a bit. I think that is coloring his image of people's subconscious with an assumption that spirit of humility rests inside of everyone intrinsically, even if it doesn't surface in a conscious way, but does in a manifest way.

But I don't believe this. I believe that there is an enlightenment upon receiving the Holy Spirit that informs us that we are morally repugnant, despite accolades or adoration of the world, that then informs our choices consciously going forward from that time.

That, essentially, upon that renewing of the mind, we look at that which was previously important and no longer desire those things.

Freud et al were attempting to cure patients using philosophy, and it was the only tool available at the time for the illnesses. I am not disparaging it, it has done good, but until recently even the psych meds have been purely pragmatic, without much understanding of what they were doing other than they seem to alleviate the problems. With the current tools there is a greater understanding of the diseases and there may be some day actual therapies that work as well as a gout treatment .
Peterson is focused on the basic ideas of Jungian. . .Ism. My belief is that this is not always appropriate. Very good for understanding and stating the problem, but not so much for treatment.

I believe it was based on real numbers. We "knew" how many arty pieces they had, how many tanks, and realized we were far outmatched, in sheer numbers. And I believe we "knew" their working machinery was close enough to being as good as ours that whatever advantages we had in tech wasn't going to make up the difference.

What was the real battle? Don't ask.

USSR destroyed the market signals through their centrally planned economy, and as such were unable to determine what goods and supplies were best sent where for what purpose or manufacturing. The only pricing signal they had was checking pricing sheets for RFQ in Hong Kong and West Germany.
For the last 50 years under GOSPLAN the five year plans were developed through negotiation between the banks, production ministries and the managers of the state enterprises, with everyone lying about what was needed and possible. What happened is every factory squirreled away surpluses to barter with other factory.
This does not even touch the economics where the Ruble's inflation was hidden because prices were kept low through central planning shortages, price controls and resulting lack of anything to do with surplus earnings other than bank it with the soviet central bank, which used the savings to finance state purchases from outside economies.

We got to watch the shoot one afternoon and after what seemed like two hours he lit the thing off. Weirdest thing I ever watched. He hit the target tank but the round ricochet about a mile up in the sky.

258 249 Back in 1969, at Camp Geiger (Infantry Training Regiment) all hands got to fire an M72 LAW, mostly because it was cheap.Rumor had it that every swinging dick in NATO would have one if the balloon went up. Not rumor, instructors told us go for the tracks as it wasn't worth a fuck on armor.

I always wonder about these things because everyone almost always seems to overinflate the enemy.

I think a lot of it was joking around...gallows humor. We figured that even with a complete "surprise attack" we would still have at least 48 hours warning...enough to get out of our bases and dispersed, making the Sov's job a lot harder. And we had the terrain to work for us.
I remember seeing a TOW missile for the first time thinking Hmmmm...this is interesting. A game changer.
Now, in retrospect, I think we would have significantly slowed them down.
Unless they used nukes and chemicals right off. Big difference then.

When we would train with the Germans, they seemed to always be reservists. We didn't consider them actual soldiers, they were NOT very impressive.

Maybe they had other guys somewhere else though, who were the real deal.

Guys I knew though, who had been stationed in South Korea said those guys were badass to the core.

270 It isn’t complicated, but you do have to understand how leftists think. At its core, the true believers are usually profoundly unhappy individuals. Jealousy and/or Envy plays a huge role.

Over time it expresses itself outward, into mean, petty, vile, and vindictive acts. Over more time, as these individuals start to infest themselves into politics, it’s time for revenge.

Never mind that they want to punish people who aren’t guilty for offenses that haven’t been perpetrated against anyone, quite the contrary. You will be made to pay for imagined, artificial grievances to make them feel good.

It’s no secret, even 40 years ago leftists couldn’t stand the idea of say, rednecks driving pickup trucks and SUVs. “Nobody needs an SUV” they would intone. And offer all sorts of fascist prescriptions on how to effect the changes they want to see. Punishing fuel tax, for example.

Now, here we are decades later, and the bastards are outlawing anything to do with the internal combustion engine, even lawnmowers, weedwackers, chainsaws. Even BBQ grills.

Anti-tobacco activism was an early glimpse, I suspect.

By then it was mos def a business. Note: no other for-profit sport has the exemption.

The difference between a tragedy and an opportunity is how you handle it. He got booted from the Uni and from his career, and his education and his experiences in psychology, research, education and mentoring were exactly what he needed to do the lecture hall round and write his books. They are damned good lectures and the books are very useful. There is a reason he gets called "you son of a bitch" a lot because he understands that these are not problems unique to the individual and there are solutions, but it has to do with getting out of that little knot of pain we get tied into. And that realization for the individual is gut punch.

I can't say I've followed it all that closely, but the reunification seems to have been relatively smooth.

Whereas, if it was possible to reunify Korea, the two sides are almost completely different, and the effects would be monumental, I think. It would take generations before the Norks could be reintegrated into a civilized society.

322 (In part) The Duke of Sussex has alleged that press intrusion led to his split from ex-girlfriend Chelsy Davy, a Zimbabwean businesswoman whom he dated from 2004 to 2011.

During the second day of questioning in his lawsuit against Mirror Group Newspapers (MGN) for alleged phone hacking on Tuesday (6 June), Prince Harry blamed the “prying eyes of the tabloids” for ultimately leading to their breakup.

Zimbabwean?? Not what I was expecting, looks-wise.

She's a barker. Megan is definitely an upgrade in the looks department.

The one country that sent more government types to study the reunification of Germany was South Korea.
Lots of bureaucrats...and military.

332 Thought about revoking special exemptions and other special deals for outfits that are tearing our civilization apart?
------
Every institution in this country has a special exemption from law and justice. I don't want to revoke that. I want them to remain exempt from the law, just in a very different way.

I want to see whole categories of ruling class "Americans" declared hostis humani generis in a blatantly lawless writ of attainder, their lives and property declared forfeit, so that anyone who wishes to harm them for fun or profit may do so without fear of reprisal.

Very few people know that. I'd always wished that Romney or someone had pointed out that Obongo added X trillion dollars to the national debt (whatever the figure was then), and then asked him how many zeroes there are in a trillion.

I'd bet my life he wouldn't know.

Answer: 12.

340 That was what as nice about scientific notation.

602,214,076,000,000,000,000,000

vs

6.02214076 × 10^23

Even though I know the number, my eyes kind of glaze over on the 'written out' version (I actually just counted decimal places because they typed out version did not seem big enough. Brains are weird.)

346 The Dodgers honored the perpetual perverts three hours before game-time. Three Hours. Nothing could show fear of their fan-base more than a ceremony held three hours before game-time. And they did this for approximately 100 people.
In other words, they destroyed their brand and alienated half their fan-base to placate a hundred people. Sure, there were more people than that who are happy the NYC perverts got honored, but they do not care about baseball.
