Reminder that the "affirmation model" for treating transgender children is being abandoned in most of Europe. But you can lose your child in California for failing to use a treatment method which is being abandoned in Europe because it has not been shown to help kids.

I finally watched the Farce Awakens recently. I'd only ever seen/heard others talk about the Dinsey Star Wars mess, and I must admit, I watched the thing with an open mind, and came away thinking it made no damn sense whatsoever.

There was NO point to the entirety of just that one movie, which is supposed to be the good one from that trilogy.

What is interesting about this is the language that you don't notice. Parent's will lose 'custody' of their children. They view parents as 'custodians'- not parents who love their children. They are just taking care of them. No relationship beyond that. No deeper meaning.

I realize this is an old terminology (with parental rights and divorce) but when you stop to think about it, that is utter fucking bullshit.

This is the argument for libertarianism/anarchism. Which starts with the assumption that all government inevitably shifts left, and becomes more authoritarian in time.

I don't believe it's inevitable, except if one considers the moral decay that accompanies late 20th century western society, whatever checks and balances existed in the culture have rotted away. So we are where we are now, with the rapidly increasing rate of leftward movement.

I do think it's very possible, maybe even likely a boomerang is happening as we speak though. People see it, more and more, and they don't like it.
