Agreed. But there's a 'new school' of thought in therapy (which is almost certainly motivated by the profit factor) that says let the patient go on and on and on talking. Don't interject or offer an opinion.

I liked a certain school of psychiatry which came out about a hundred years ago which I called, "I'm okay, you're not." More confrontational. Maybe Peterson is an example of a return to that.

True. That's probably a good thing. It prevents that defective gene from continuing on and perpetuating the "defective" gene pool.
It is said and I don't know how all this mental illness is suddenly everywhere. I have 3 kids in high school and they are surrounded by these mentally unstable people. Like someone said in the movie, being a teenager IS hard and awkward but you grow out of it. It's part of the process everyone goes through. I don't know a single person who didn't have some "issues" in HS but I do know becoming trans isn't the answer.

People typically tend to react in one of two ways when reality hits them. They either accept it or they reject it, but when you throw in hormonal imbalance and mental illness, the resultant output tends to be (more) violent.

Notice that the ideas of cognitive therapy are 180 degrees out of phase with current state of education and workplace.
Poor thinking and inaccurate ideas are supported and in fact celebrated.
Problematic behaviors such as public violence, rudeness, and criminality are dismissed as reparations, or chronic poverty, or culturally acceptable.
Distressing emotional issues get promoted and supported with trigger warnings and the idea that words or ideas are violence.

The more woken one is the more broken.

Morning to all! Lin-duh, I had the same cramp this morning. I didn't stretch in bed which is the usual cause for me, i.e., two opposing muscle groups pulling at the same time. I climbed out of bed and stretched as though I were preparing to work out, and the cramp has faded.

Today is haircut day, though, which means library and a couple of other errands too. I'm beginning NOT to look forward to haircut day; they're all busy-busy. I'd rather waltz out to the library on a non-busy day and take my time shopping for books, wouldn't you?

This is the Saturday in Ember Week, three days (Wednesday, Friday and Saturday) of fast and abstinence (no meat) observed four times a year, close to the change of season, in thanksgiving for the gifts of Nature. Observing them is no longer obligatory but it also doesn't hurt any.

The trans thing is especially alive and well in Austin. My daughter's "friend group" in middle school had at least 2 "non-binary" kids in it. That's about 20+% of the group...
I do believe that the vast majority of these kids/people are indoctrinated into it then their own parents affirm it. Like that one therapist said, it's emotional blackmail telling the parents would you rather have a live "boy/girl" or a dead "boy/girl"?

I was worried that the antenna that I bought did not have VHF capabilities. But it turns out that everything available here broadcasts on the UHF band.

So...up in the attic went, did some barrel connecting in the cable internet outside box, and wadayaknow...44 channels come pouring into the TV, for free.

Which leads to the realization that the house was built with ethernet cables throughout the house, just not terminated.

So the original router gets moved upstairs, and the second router arrives today, to be placed in access point mode, and we should have wi-fi everywhere inside stately VIA Manor.

There may be a few places like like that left here. Certainly there are small barbershops with older proprietors. The guy who's been cutting my hair since 1979 is a decorated Vietnam vet who started his business in the '70s. He and his business partner, same age, are the only guys in the shop; the rest of the booths are taken up with women who mostly do women's hair styling. But it isn't a fancy setup at all.

Lin-duh, Dagny Sophia is a brown torbie Siberian. And I've lived with three others of that weird breed since 2003. I've never had a Maine Coon, though I've kidded myself for years that the huge red tabby-with-white I adopted in '83 and lived with for 16.5 years was part MC.

Stirling is a black medium-haired mix. No papers, but good-looking and smart.

I imagine for those who go on to college it's just a more intense experience of the indoctrination. Once all the schooling is over and they leave their bubbles and reality hits, I would think the suicide rate will spike. Those straight out of HS who go to trade schools and get jobs probably have a better shot at a "normal" life.

89 Of barbers, my old guy retired so I took up with a new apprentice in the shop. It was a good first six months of bi-weekly cuts. Kid was professional and quiet, which I like. I make appointments in 4 visit blocks. Three visits ago, he had taken a walk in and I had to wait 10 minutes. Same game the next time. Yesterday when I walked in, he was seating a walk in 5 minutes before my appointment time. I left (to his stunned surprise) and am now back in the hunt for a barber. I am sure I am being labeled a priviedged white guy in the shop (Hispanic owned), but people's attitudes toward time these days, drive me crazy. Appointment? We don't need no stinking appointment. Sad thing is, kid just lost a regular, well tipping customer he may have had for a decade (Lord willing). Probably doesn't care.

Before I re-upped with Flo's Bros for my renter's insurance, I called to be sure they would have covered any loss from the water leaks I had in March et seq. The first "agent" said I wouldn't, that I didn't have flood insurance. When I spoke to the flood insurance guy, he said I would be covered -- that a "flood" is normally taken to be rising waters from *outside* the home. And in my policy, interior water leaks are listed as a "covered peril."

Delilah is a house dog and gets to sleep where she wants. She usually spends the night in our bedroom and has an odd line of equity. Normally, she sleeps on the floor next to Her Majesty's side of the bed. If I have to wake up at 2:00 to go to the bathroom, I'll come back and she'll still be there. But if I get up and put my clothes on to go let the puppies out at 5:00, she'll hop up on my side of the bed.

It used to be that the Middle East and Far East were called just The East or The Orient, hence The orient Express. So Asiatics were termed Orientals, I never considered that derogatory but similar to European.

I watched "What is a Woman?"

A credible and commendable effort by Matt Walsh.

Matt was a good straight man for posing the question. The tap dancing and farting on the part of advocates for a non-specific definition was epic. Many Ibrim Kendi-like circular answers -- wherein the definition relies upon using the very word being defined (check him out for "anti-racist").

Matt's wife nailed it: "A woman is an adult human female (who needs help to open this jar)."

There were several proponents for an open-ended definition in it who engaged in the age old dodge by responding with a question (e.g., "Why do you ask that?") when confronted with a direct question from Matt.
