I'm not too worried about AI taking our jerbs, but given its impressive ability to generate content on a whim without any consideration for whether it's real or not, journalism and marketing are in big trouble. Editorial staff can just ask ChatGPT to create stories about how Donald Trump is the worst thing ever without the bother of paying a person to flutter around the office.

The Dodger Christian Faith and Family Night is a full month after the last day of Pride Month.

The LBGT++++ are going to give the Dodgers plenty of opportunities to show whether or not they are maximally with their program.

The Dodgers will not miss an opportunity to spit in the face of not only Catholics but all Christians, and of other people of good will who see a greater purpose to life than just perpetual indulgence in stimulating their gonads and recreationally frying their brains with chemicals.

Maybe if you actually try to interact with Oriole on terms other than looks and money, it'll possibly turn out different (not sagging good looking or rich people can't be nice, but your really shrinking the dating pool choices)

Most of their batteries, which are the most important part on the cars on par with engines from ICE cars, are made in Japan and China. Even thr batteries made in the US are getting the battery components from China.

92 I'm admittedly not deeply immersed in the nuance of the debt negotiations but I can't imagine that Kevin McSquish's demands are particularly onerous, particularly in light of the fact that no sane person would keep buying American debt if there's not some plan to steer away from drunken-sailor levels of spending. So I'm just gonna assume this is a typical case of Slow Joe being belligerent and threatening martial law if he doesn't get exactly 100.0 percent of what he wants all the time.

Rekieta or one of his Friday guests will go off on this pretty regularly. 8-10 rated guys on dating apps will on occasion hook up with 3-4s if they happen to be geographically or otherwise situationally convenient.

3-10 rated chicks all think they deserve 9-10 ranked guys, and because of the guys occasional slumming, their wild overperception of themselves gets confirmed occasionally. And they can never figure out why the guys they all consider acceptable won't settle for one of them.

I think it was last night or night before Morticia was asking how we get out of the current situation where the fraud states hold the clean election states hostage. I said the only way it ends is when the people who want clean elections cheat enough to win control of the corrupt states.

There is another possible future. If enough people move to red states by the 2030 census, then the corrupt states can be ignored. The fact that Texas and Florida combined is worth 70 electoral votes is pretty significant.

96 I feel like every millennial girl i work with will complain about not being able to find a nice guy, then they basically refuse to date anyone but the former starting quarterback or the son of a hedge fund manager.
-
Rekieta or one of his Friday guests will go off on this pretty regularly.

105 Welcome to the Friday ONT! Y'know, I bet Caroline has been waiting her entire life to write this story...

Last time I stayed in a hotel in Vegas, a lady got into the elevator I was on to get to her room. She has two big bottles of water from the local CVS. I looked at her and said, 'nice jugs'. She laughed.

I told her that I waited years to be able to say that and not get slapped in the face. She laughed at that too, then got off at her floor.

My wife didn't think that was so funny.

I think the math is that in 3 days without deliveries most of the big cities would have starvation among all of the unprepared people.

(I assume for that math to be correct, all of the grocery store workers immediately horded all of that food.)

I think farmers with backhoes could cut the highways and railways and end the blue areas, despite all of the F-15s that Biden sent their way.

Foogas or fougasse. Improvised munition generally a barrel filled with diesel, accelerant, sticker and an initiating bursting charge to ignite and spread it over a large area. Originally it was a sort of improvised mortar dug into a bank or ground to blow rubble and balls at an approaching enemy.

Forest undergrowth was also managed with forest detritus not being allowed to build up and such preventative maintenance reduced the propensity for fire to break out. But, yeah, anytime government money is involved, you'll just get more of whatever the government is paying for, in this case forest fires.

I find foreign mystery shows tend to have a shorter, almost pre-planned, life than here, which I like. It doesn't drag on, with lots of character changes and weaker plots over time, like 'NCIS'. I also enjoyed 'The Dr. Blake Mysteries', if for nothing more than the cars. Some of those 'modern' Aussie cop cars of the late 1950's/early 1960's were quite funny. But the plots were usually good, with the Doc often bucking the prevailing theory -- and suspect -- with oftentimes asshole behavior. A former Jap P.o.W. to boot. And living in sin with a married woman. I really like that series.

262 I started a 78 year-old truck today, and drove an orbit around the yard.

I regularly (about every month or so) drive a 74 year old car. Gotta keep them in service or they deteriorate.

Wanna know the weirdest thing? The clock still works. In older cars with analog clocks, that was always the first thing that stopped working. In my '49 Olds? Nope. It's good.

263 I am not a big fan of the word "fair", but baseball is no longer fair.

NY Mets payroll: $346,000,000
NY Yankees payroll: $280,000,000
Pirates payroll: $75,000,000

I concede your larger point, but the O's are vying with the Rays for the best team in baseball with a 76 million dollar payroll. It can be done.

Posted by: Weirddave at May 27, 2023 02:14 AM (tWbGp)

264 263: I fully acknowledge that the Pittsburgh Pirates have the worse ownership in the league. Well, second to Oakland. You can make it work. (The KC Royals did a few years ago). The Pirates just don't. We'll see what happens this year but I'm not expecting much. They are above .500. For now.

265 You know, when there is talk of 'fairness' in sports, my big beef is that bad teams have no true incentive to get better. They'll get tv revenue, advertising revenue, marketing revenue, tickets sales/parking/concession revenue. If there was a relegation system, as used in football/soccer leagues pretty much everywhere (except in the good 'ol US of A, and maybe Canada, too), i think it would improve team incentives. Because if a team were to be relegated to a lower league, losing all that guaranteed money, you'd see teams invest differently in players, and in which players. That would give a race at the top as well as the bottom. For example, The English league ends this Sunday. The top part of the table is settled but there are three teams fighting for one survival spot for next year, with another team already relegated. Currently 31, 31, and 33 points with a win = 3 and a draw =1. Anything can happen, especially as in football they play the last games of the season at the same time*. It makes it interesting.

266 Except for insomnia at the moment, I am usually happy in the morning because I enjoy being up with spouse and praying and having a cup of coffee before the day starts. Last time I checked I am not a demon-just a sinner in need of God's grace.

Posted by: FenelonSpoke at May 27, 2023 02:32 AM (LTpwC)

267 * Goes back to the '74 W.C. Germany and Austria knew, from the earlier final game played in their group, if their game drew, they both advance to the knockout phase. So they ended up kicked the ball back and forth, up and down the field, colluding in the tie. So after that, TPTB made the final games of the group stage played at the same time and European football leagues also play the last games of the season at the same time as well, for the obvious 'to prevent collusion' reason.

268 If you like baseball consider going to see the movie, "it Ain't Over" even if you aren't a Mets or Yankees fan. It is about the great catcher, player and manager, Yogi Berra. It was an amusing, interesting and uplifting film about a great player and a fine man who made about $500.00 for a bonus when he signed with the Yankees in the 40's. Also, stay through the credits. They're neat.

269 "On this Memorial Day, as our nation honors its unbroken line of fallen heroes -- and I see many of them in the audience here today -- our sense of patriotism is particularly strong."
Barack Hussein Obama

Where was he, or what was he on, that he saw many of an unbroken line of fallen heroes in the audience?

smh. Wishing the best to all here on this memorial weekend. Tending graves and praying come Monday

270 I just finished watching They Were Expendable with Robert Montgomery, John Wayne and Donna Reed. It is a WWII flick set in the Pacific, it seemed like a good way to kick off Memorial Day weekend. I have my flowers, soil , rake, shovel and water jugs in the car so that I may tend the old family plot in the morning. I guess that I should get some sleep.

274 My father retired from the military after 20 years where he served in both the Marines and Air Force. He passed away far too early from a service related disability. I remember going with him as a kid on Memorial Days to the Military cemetery in our town when he was the Commander of the VFW post where they gave a ceremony and placed flags on the graves. Memorial Day is a solemn day for me but also a day with great memories.

294 If you're supplying clothing for kids that is tuck friendly and rainbow themed by a designer who is a literal Satanist and who provides a shirt of a goat's head/Satanic symbol saying "Satan respects your pronouns" your company deserves to crash and burn.

Botton line-Satan comes to "kill, steal and destroy." That's what Jesus said. I 'll stick with Jesus.

302 People have very short memories. How many times in the past have budget negotiations gone until the last minute. Its all political theater.
