Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin and Chair of the Joint Chiefs General Milley Both Lie to Congress, Claiming the Military Doesn't Support Drag Queen Story Hours

This is perjury. There are drag shows announced on the regular at military bases.

This story is from March 29th. I'm not sure what brought it to the attention of David Strom on Wednesday, but I'm glad he highlighted it.

Both Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin and General Milley, Chair of the Joints Chiefs of Staff, insist that the Department of Defense neither funds nor supports drag queen story hours on military bases.
That was and remains a lie. When presented with the evidence in a Congressional hearing Austin repeated the lie, even when confronted by incontrovertible evidence that he was spreading falsehoods.
He lied. Then he lied again. And again.
I have no idea if he was under oath, but it shouldn't matter. Lying to Congress and the American people is unacceptable, except when a Democrat is in the White House. Then it is apparently mandatory.

It doesn't matter. Whether they were under oath or not, lying to Congress is obstruction of Congress, and obstruction of Congress is the same process crime with the exact same penalty as perjury.

It is bad enough that the military is promoting "all-ages" drag shows, to begin with; it seems a bit at odds with what we would come to expect and perhaps is not conducive to the good order and discipline we expect from the military brass. I would have thought that such things would happen when the troops were on leave, not on base.
But promoting these shows to the children of the troops? I would have to assume that at least one or two of them might object, which suggests that perhaps the brass should stay out of the business of dealing in drag shows.
Usually the strip clubs are off base. At least it is that way in the movies.

The strip clubs continue to be off the base -- heterosexual sexual material remains taboo. It's only gay sexual material, particularly that intended to be enjoyed by children, which has had all taboos lifted.

Below, Gaetz first asks why Austin is not attempting to re-hire the 8,000 military people he fired because of their refusal to take the fauccination.

He then segueways into the "important things" the DoD is doing, like hosting Drag Queen Story Hours.

Here's Gaetz, handing him a folder full of articles about DoD sponsored Drag Queen Story Hours.

But don't worry -- next time he's asked about this, he will claim to have "no awareness" of it again.

44 Just back from Memorial service at the W. NC State Veteran's Cemetery.

Nice addresses by the Director of the nearby VA hospital, and Lt. Gen. Walter Gaskin (USMC, Ret.). I stayed around afterwards, and spoke to them both. The Director of the VA I already knew, but Gen. Gaskins I had not met.

He and I had a good time talking, including trading some inter-service jokes. Very nice, very attentive, sincere guy. He agrees, btw, that there is trouble in the recruiting and direction that the services are taking.

The service was fairly well attended, since this almost a rural area, rather urban. Probably 400 people. The ages of the attendees was striking. By far, mostly older folk. This of course has been trending for years.

I did not see any white-walled man-buns.

(Maybe they don't have those anymore?) because I don't know about Austein but Milley is heavy. I just mention this because I knew two people in military chaplaincy. They both were very fit-of course one retired about 7 years ago and one is about 50 and has served about 25 years, and things have changed a great deal.

Easy to do.
Each Service grooms their best officers for senior rank. But every person promoted to general officer first has their name sent (on a list of other eligibles) to both the House and Senate Armed Services Committees. Anyone can strike the name. This is why a Pentagon tour as a LTC is so important...to get known. The same is true for promotion to second, third and fourth star. You can get retired at any time.

Monty took over the command of a corps in England in 1940. One of the first things he decreed was that all officers do a seven-mile course weekly, either at a run or a walk. One obese, elderly colonel protested that to do so would kill him. Monty told him that it would be better if he did the course and died, as it would be easier to replace him instead of during a battle when things would be much more hectic.

First time using Word, it wanted to autocorrect my last name into something not so pleasing.
I love the story back in the 90's when some site, maybe AOL, tried to clean up the language by changing Cock to Thingy.

198 The most uncomfortable bus shooting vid I've seen is one where a female cop was trying to remove a disruptive passenger from a bus and the passenger ends up grappling with her and trying to get her gun . A male cop arrived and the perp had been able to get his hand around the female's gun and still had her in a clinch on the ground. The male cop tried to unclinch him. He wouldn't listen to the male cop to let go of the gun and the male cop ended up putting his weapon right into the perp and fired 3 or 4 times.

199 Missed the Memorial day thread. Just wanted to remember these guys, killed August 15, 1991 when their CH-46 Sea Knight helo flying off my ship, USS Camden (AOE-2) lost a front rotor and plunged into the sea SE of Guam on our way home from WestPac in support of Operation Desert Storm:

LT Eric W. Allison; Lt(jg) Kenneth D. Pickens; Aviation Structural Mechanic Airman William A. Jackson; and Aviation Electrician's Mate 1 C Johnny L. Caulder Jr. All from San Diego based HC-11.

LT Allison was at the end of his 3rd straight 6 month cruise, and had gotten married just before this last one. His wife surprised him by flying to Guam to meet him, so at least he got to spend a couple of days with her prior to his death.

LT(jg) Pickens was a Boat School grad and a great kid just getting started on his flying career. AEM1C Caulder went home on emergency leave from Thailand the week before because his infant son was diagnosed with a brain tumor. The brass sent him back out to the Camden just before we left Guam on the last leg of our cruise. The Air Det arrived home in San Diego on August 20, missing 4 souls, and Camden arrived back in Bremerton, WA on August 24.

RIP.

Yes, and they date to the time of the inception of the Constitution. Were coachmen forbidden to carry arms in the 1790's? Of course not, and under Bruen they can't be forbidden to carry them now.

In addition the law forbidding firearms in Federal buildings 18 USC 930, has an exception clause buried in it: section (d)(3) "the lawful carrying of firearms or other dangerous weapons in a Federal facility incident to hunting or other lawful purposes."

Since the SCOTUS ruled having a pistol for self defense is a "lawful purpose for having one". You tell me.
