Civil War at CNN as "Journalist" Christina Amanapour Attacks CEO Chris Licht for Daring to "Platform" the Front-Runner for the Republican Nomination for President
My Conclusion: Licht is a Dead Man Walking
But this is a news organization, right?
CNN staffers have been in a
"fury" since the Trump townhall. In fact, they were angry about it even before Trump exposed Kaitlin Collins as a callow, hollow leftwing sloganeer.
CNN is facing a "a fury of criticism" from its own employees for airing a town hall with former President Donald Trump on Wednesday, according to the network's own media reporter.
"It's hard to see how America was served by the spectacle of lies that aired on CNN," Oliver Darcy wrote in CNN's "Reliable Sources" newsletter.
Trump, the frontrunner in the 2024 Republican primary, sparred with CNN's Kaitlan Collins over his ongoing claim that the 2020 presidential election was "rigged," the Jan. 6 Capitol riot and the recent verdict that found him liable for defamation and battery against his accuser E. Jean Carroll, whom he continued railing against to the amusement of some supporters in the audience.
"CNN aired it all. On and on it went. It felt like 2016 all over again," Darcy complained. "Collins was put in an uncomfortable position, given the town hall was conducted in front of a Republican audience that applauded Trump, giving a sense of unintended endorsement to his shameful antics."
Chris Licht gave Oliver Darcy -- CNN's Replacement Potato who now "covers the media" -- a dressing down for that that left him "shaken."
Cry-sis Actor Michael Fanone
was girlishly distressed about the Townhall, and, channeling the Ghost of Donkey-Chompers, claimed Trump "tried to kill me."
CNN's Michael Fanone is shooting inside the tent, blasting his employer for offering a platform to former President Trump and accusing CNN honchos of sacrificing "journalistic integrity" for ratings.
Fanone, a former D.C. police officer who was injured during the Jan. 6 riot, is now a paid CNN contributor. He penned a scathing opinion piece for Rolling Stone headlined, "CNN Is Hosting a Town Hall for a Guy Who Tried to Get Me Killed," as the network is set to air a primetime town hall with the former president.
"I woke up last week to a text from my mother. Its contents hit me like a sucker punch. 'CNN is hosting a town hall with Trump; Kaitlin Collins is moderating,'" Fanone wrote to kick off the piece. "WTF!!!"
This tattooed fairy was a police officer?
Licht almost certainly meant the dressing-down of the effeminate Oliver Darcy to warn the rest of CNN's Gonzo Liberal staffers to stop arguing that a major presidential candidate shouldn't be "platformed." It is speculated that Licht himself leaked the story of this dressing down to CNN's hated rival Fox, just to let everyone at CNN know it's time to move on.
But it's not working. CNN personnel are not afraid of Licht, and are continuing to attack Licht for "platforming" the most likely Republican nominee for president.
And they're not afraid of Licht, which means they don't expect Licht to remain in a position to punish them.
Repulsive hag propagandist Christina Amanpour publicly attacked Licht at an event at Columbia "Journalism" School:
The public outcry by CNN staffers about the network's Trump town hall has only gotten louder with veteran journalist Christiane Amanpour calling out her boss Chris Licht by name during a commencement speech given to the 2023 graduates of the Columbia Journalism School, describing the televised event as an "earthquake."
"I have always opted to speak out when staying silent might have been easier," Amanpour said to the graduates Wednesday before telling them, "So right now in this moment, for me personally, I want to do what's right, and empathize with and acknowledge all those who need to trust us at CNN, the most trusted name in news."
Amanpour revealed that she met with Licht at CNN's New York headquarters after flying in from London to "hear from him firsthand what he'd been thinking," which led to a "very robust exchange of views" between the two.
She flew in from London to give
Licht a dressing-down.
"My management believes they did the right thing, a service to the American people. Some reports have written about important new thoughts and things that we learned from Trump's very mouth that night... Time could very well prove that Trump's electroshock therapy to the world jolts the undecided into greater awareness," Amanpour said.
Amanapour is saying that the only way putting the likely Republican nominee on TV and interviewing him is acceptable is
if that interview succeeds in destroying him.
If it doesn't destroy him, then interviewing that newsworthy figure is a betrayal of "journalism" -- which is now defined sub rosa as simply leftwing political propaganda.
"For me, of course, the fact that the American people voted three times against Trump and Trumpism- 2018, 2020, 2022- also speaks volumes. We've done our duty. We have told the story. We have put that in everybody's awareness and people have had the opportunity to make their choices and they have done."
Again, "our duty" consists of animating the public to vote against the people we don't like. She's straight-up saying that it is the "duty" of "journalists" to get Democrats elected.
Or, in Joe Biden's case: "Elected."
She continued, "I still respectfully disagree with allowing Donald Trump to appear in that particular format," which sparked applause from the audience...
The "journalist" Amanpour then endorses the Cabal of Leftwing Media Elites simply deciding who will be the president:
"The American press and maybe the world's press still hasn't learned how to deal with or cover Donald Trump. Maybe we should revert back to the newspaper editors and TV chiefs of the 1950s, who in the end refused to allow McCarthyism onto their pages unless his foul lies, his witch hunts and his rants reached the basic evidence level required in a court of law," Amanpour suggested. "So maybe less is more. Maybe live is not always right.
In other words: Maybe the best "journalism" consists not of reporting the news, but of actively suppressing the news.
It's not shocking that leftwing propagandists think this; it is, however, surprising that they are now so confident in their Cult Doctrine that they are openly admitting it.
...
She further argued that some of the most "compelling" interviews "are, in fact, taped," insisting that they are edited "not to change the context or the content, or the truth, or the intent, but to edit for filibuster and a stream of disinformation."
They are edited precisely to destroy the person the media wishes to destroy and make the bubble-headed weakminded "journalist" appear to be the masteful hero. Every single time we see a "journalist" attempt to destroy a target
live, the "journalist" winds up badly embarrassed. As we just saw with that BBC "journalist" attempting to gotcha Elon Musk, having done zero homework or preparation.
"Journalists" are not just dumb and emotionally juvenile. They're also incredibly
lazy.
By the way -- the media has been attempting Amanpour's strategy of choosing the president against the will of the voters for forty fucking years now. She's angry now that it isn't working as expected, and is demanding even more bias and censorship.
Amanpour also shared her "mantra" with the Columbia graduates to "be truthful, but not neutral," telling them "Both-siderism--on the one hand, on the other hand -- is not always objectivity. It does not get you to the truth."
The "truth" is always just what the leftwing "journalist" -- almost all "journalists" are extremely bitter partisans for the hard left -- believes it is.
She added, "Drawing false, moral or factual equivalence is neither objective or truthful. Objectivity is our golden rule. And it is in weighing all the sides and all the evidence hearing everyone reporting everything, but not rushing to equate them when there is no equating and look at the damage that that has done in the climate debate. In the political arena, and in the field of battle."
In other words: Conservatives are evil and progressives are good and any work of journalism that permits a viewer to come to a contrary position is not "objective," as it doesn't push the "truth" that conservatives are evil, and progressives good.
CNN's Potato Replacement, Oliver Darcy, parrots Amanpour's views of the "objective media as a full-on partisan for the progessive wing of the Democrat Party" in CNN's own "media reporting" newsletter.
He says that her views are widespread.
Well yes, we all knew that.
Nice to hear CNN confirm it.
"Inside CNN, Amanpour is far from alone in her views. In private, the town hall has been widely criticized by employees at all levels across the organization. Some of these employees believe that Trump wasn't worthy of a town hall platform after leading the insurrection on the U.S. Capitol and continuing to spew dangerous lies about the 2020 election. Others believe that it was a worthy endeavor to confront him, but that the event was poorly executed," Darcy wrote.
Notably, CNN's "emotional" media reporter chose to lead his newsletter with Amanpour's remarks rather than the network's announcement that Collins will officially fill the long-vacant 9 p.m. ET timeslot, placing it the "Below The Fold" section.
Yes, the real news here is that Darcy attacked Licht already, and got yelled at by Licht.
But now he's attacking his CEO again.
Darcy might have been "shaken" by his dressing down, but apparently his leftwing friends at CNN have stood him back on his feet and sent him into battle against Licht again.
And Darcy continued to undermine Licht's judgment as CNN's leader.
Darcy is a nasty little serpentine coward, and would not be this bold in attacking Licht unless he believed that Licht's days are numbered, and CNN personnel will continue attacking him until Discovery Warner's management fires him.
And I do think he will be fired.
What's the alternative? You'd have to fire all of CNN's ratings-gold talent -- Jake Tapper, Anderson Cooper, Christina Amanpour, "Poppie" Harlow... why, you can't just fire that kind of Murderer's Row of charisma and journalistic excellence!
But seriously, if the CEO is telling his personnel to stop attacking the management and they are openly defying him, and he's not responding by firing their asses -- that means he has lost the confidence of his bosses and he will soon be fired.
And then CNN can go back to openly being the hard-left Democrat Party Animal House they want to be.
They'll probably wind up re-hiring Jeff Zucker.
Or maybe their new CEO will be... Keith Olbermann.
CNN viewership has fallen off a cliff since the polarizing town hall. The ratings-challenged network managed 2.3 million primetime viewers last Wednesday for the event that irked Darcy, but shed 77% of that audience the following evening when only 538,000 primetime viewers tuned in. As Darcy noted, CNN's primetime viewership sunk even further to an average of 335,000 on Friday.
It was reported by Semafor that after Licht summoned Darcy to confront his overzealous coverage of the town hall, the reporter "wondered to colleagues whether he should resign or if he will be fired by the network." A spokesperson for CNN told Fox News Digital "Oliver does not intend to resign."
Far from it. He intends to get Licht fired.
...
"In all my reporting on CNN over the last 18 months... I have never felt such an overwhelming sense of frustration and resentment toward Licht as in the week since the town hall, and never from such a broad range of sources, more than 40 of whom I've spoken with in recent days. The Amanpour speech and the Darcy newsletter are merely the most diplomatic and nuanced articulations of those sentiments. In private, they are far more passionate and explicit--emotional, you might say," Puck News' Dylan Byers wrote Wednesday.
Yes, Licht is gone.
CNN will be openly a neoliberal Democrat Party mouthpiece.
That's Jake Tapper's idea of "objectivity."
