This. Is. Something.

I will probably see Mission: Impossible on Day One. I'm a fan of the series, and the last two entries have been great. A lot of people really like M:I 4. I thought that was okay, but not as good as 3, 5, and 6.

Based on the villain's lines here -- "You have no idea of the power I control" as well as his claim that Ethan's fate has already been seen and written -- I'm pretty sure this is about a super-intelligent AI capable of accurately forecasting the future. Among other things. Interestingly, the former head of the CIA from the first movie -- "McKittrick" -- has now gone private and apparently working with the tech mogul to control the world with his super-AI.

And based on lines from a previous teaser -- about "the chance to control the truth" -- the AI is designed to manipulate public opinion. Via, I imagine, AI generated-and-perfected "disinformation."

They probably won't talk about the more insidious and powerful threat to "the truth," the suppression/censorship of true information, because that's not as sexy as active lies. Who knows, maybe they'll hint at it, but I doubt it. It would be too controversial to suggest that The Regime actively censors the truth.

So not just forecasting the future, but pre-scripting the future.

A former head of the CIA attempting to control speech and dictate the future through censorship and computer algorithms? How does Hollywood come up with these completely-implausible fantasy scenarios?

Usually I don't care about the villain's plot in this type of movie -- he wants to blow up X, Y, or Z, yadda yadda yadda, who cares, it's just an excuse for action sequences -- but this particular plot really interests me, for obvious reasons. Seriously, I think this is the first Villain's Plot I've had any interest in since pretty much forever.

Oh and Haley Atwell's in it.

Here's the previous teaser in which the former head of the CIA, McKittrick, tells Ethan Hunt that they now have "the chance to control the truth, the concepts of right and wrong, for centuries to come."

By the way, of course Tom Cruise is not going to put in a divisive message which clearly links the left with this censorship/world control scheme. The plot will be deliberately apolitical and allow viewers to imagine that it's just Donald Trump behind "the truth... vanishing." In almost any dystopian movie (or threat of future dystopia), they're always written to allow everyone to imagine that his Designated Villain is responsible for the apocalypse.

But I'll know. There's only one political movement controlling AI and using AI to censor people's speech, and it's not MAGA.

Speaking of dangerous technology which has the potential for ending the world as we know it:

Someone was joking that you won't be able to understand the dialogue in this movie, like in every other Nolan film. Like they'll have Einstein in a Bane mask saying "Mmmf nnngth mmfh deuterium ngmmth mmmrhhg."

Five Nights at Freddy's is based on a videogame where you're working at a Chucky Cheese type restaurant and then the animatronic mascot characters come to life and start doing murders.

The trouble is, people liked this concept so much that two other movies already ripped it off before this new movie came to theaters: Nic Cage gave a nearly wordless performance in the rip-off Willy's Wonderland, and the Banana Splits "reimagining" turned the macots into killer robots. And maybe aliens? I dunno. I saw it but remember very little.

The "original" has already been beaten to the theaters by derivatives.

How weird is it that I've seen The Banana Splits movie and most of the Nick Cage version, Willy's Wonderland? What kind of an idiot am I? I see like ten new movies per year and these are what I rent on PPV. Well, I'm not going to see this one. I've seen the concept twice already and it didn't wow me either time.

Finally: Fast X tried to figure out a way they could appeal even harder to young men, and then they realized: Needs. Moar. Brie Larson.

She is playing a villain here, I think. And she's in this four minute trailer for a single line. Which probably indicates a career in trouble.

All I know is: This time, it's about Family.

The sound design in Tenet is aggressive, but I've never understood the criticism that you can't understand what's going on. Sure, there are definitely moments where you can't hear what people are saying, but it's usually in moments like the tour of the art gallery at the airport. We've had clear dialogue about what the plan is, and everything, but when the sound drowns out dialogue is when the minor character is explaining security features...we already know about.

The bigger problem is that it's all silly nonsense that's hard to understand from a basic storytelling point of view. I get into it, though.

IV on are Cruise movies. He's been a producer since the beginning and there's an argument that the entire series reflects him (I is him wanting to work with interesting directors, II is him trying to prove himself as an action star, III is him trying to use his star to help an up and coming director), but as much as I enjoy IV on, they are the Cruise shows, not the Bird/McQuarrie shows.

I mean, the action is fun, but it's all a dumb mystery box.

90 Personally I miss Steven Hill as Dan Briggs, the original leader of the IM Force. He always gave me the impression that *he* outlined the way they would attack the problem or defeat the target. The others, like Rollin and Cinnamon, and of course Barney, would contribute their expertise and the plan would have to be modified. In the pilot, for instance, they clearly go through a brainstorming session (that we don't get, or need, to see). But to me the overall shape of the plan came from Briggs.

Peter Graves's Phelps never gave me that impression. Maybe that was why I was not bothered to have him turn out a traitor in the first Tom Cruise M:I film.

Do the modern films even give Bruce Geller a "created by" credit?

128 I've noticed a trend where Hollywood (at least the part of Hollywood that is still concerned with making good movies and profits) are starting to transition away from white American actresses to white British actresses. American white women are probably...scratch that...DEFINITELY the most left-wing population on the planet. They are absolutely bananas.

If you read some of the work of British left-wing white women, they are infinitely more conservative than American left-wing white women. They, generally, are the tip of the "TERF" spear and are highly suspicious of mass immigration from famously misogynistic countries.

We've finally reached a point in which American is FAR more left-wing than Europe. In fact, I think part of the reason for the massive divisiveness in American is because we have the most right-wing population in the world living shoulder to shoulder with the most left-wing population in the world. How could there not be contention?

133 Not a movie, but if you're looking something to stream on Netflix, check out-

"Sanctuary"

It's about the rise of an up and coming Sumo wrestler set inside a low level sumo house/gym.

Excellent script, acting, and directing. One thing I like is that is white-washes nothing. The sumo training and time in the dohyo (ring) is brutal and humiliating if you're trying to climb up.

Being Japanese the story also lets you see and understand what also made the antagonists. As well as others around the protagonist. Like boxing, it is a hard and brutal profession often/usually populated by those angry at their lives with no where else to go.

It doesn't exactly reinvent the "young man finding his place in sports" story but the setting is unusual and the Japanese cultural spin is enough to make it feel like something you've never seen before.

The lovely and athletic Mrs naturalfake and I watched the whole series in one night. We were enjoying it so much.

If you'll definitely watch them all, then yeah, start with 4 just so the continuity (loose as it is) is straight. But if you're on the fence, go to the really good one.

Yes. I love Ian Fleming's work and (most of) the Bond movies. But the novel and film of Thunderball leave me cold. Maybe it's partly that Bond is not really on his own against the threat, as he is in earlier books like Doctor No; he's got Leiter and a ton of U.S. intelligence people working with him in TB. Bond is best when he's the lone agent working against terrific odds to defeat a Mr. Big or a Hugo Drax.

I have a fear of heights, so the stunt he pulled off in Ghost Protocol, where he climbed the Burj Kalifa, is much more impressive to me. If I were forced to choose, I would much rather be tethered to the side of C130 as it takes off.

They mention in the film some ceromony for the greatest living baseball players. He was not included even though his record was higher than all the other fine players. His granddaughter turned to him and asked, "Are you dead?" an his response was "Not yet".

My only caveat was a brief mention towards the end of Berra being supportive of LBGT causes. I really doubt Berra would have been on board with transgenderism. I think he was just a person who didn't care if you were gay as long as you weren't shoving it in his face.

yes you can tell. There's a later motorcycle chase on this desert/mountain road and it's really gripping, because it's real. Well, if I had to guess, they're really driving at 100mph, but the traffic they're driving around is CGI added later. But you can't tell, and the speed is just amazing.

Its absolutely wild and nothing like that had ever been tried before. James Bond used to be like that, it was the cutting edge of stunts and action. Now its Jason Bourne lite.

I don't know if its like Jackie Chan where the US producers kept cutting out the stuff that made him funny and fun to watch but John Woo in America is to me uniformly disappointing. Although I did see some brilliant and wonderful stuff in Face/Off mixed into the terrible.

371 Saw the first three MI films, but I'm backlogged on the others. Liked them all, and say what you like about Cruise, he usually picks good films.

373 I suppose it's time for my Q2 uncloacking. [Been here, pretty much daily, since Rathergate.]

My son, who is in tech college and looking to get a BA in Game Design (his passion) and a minor in Cybersecurity (Thanks to his dad), says that the designer of Five Night is a strong Christian. In fact there was a significant attempt to cancel him several years ago because of his faith.

With him out of state, I'm probably not going to watch it. I'd ask Mrs. Calbadger, but the dogs leave too much fur on my side of the bed.

More than $15k can be earned online by performing straightforward tasks from home. In the previous month, I got $18376. Even a young child may do this job and make money because it is so simple to complete and has higher pay than typical office occupations. Everyone needs to try this task by using the information on this page. www.Richepay.com
