CNN CEO Chris Licht Tells Oliver Darcy -- CNN's Replacement Potato -- to Stop Crying About the Trump Town Hall

CNN's "news" personnel don't think that CNN, a "news" organization, should "platform" a leading candidate for president. Amazing.

He essentially told Darcy to stop being a little screechy pussy boi. His words, not mine. Well, that was the subtext of his words.

CNN's left-wing media reporter Oliver Darcy was scolded by his boss Chris Licht over his "emotional" coverage of the network's Wednesday town hall with former President Trump.
Fox News Digital confirmed that Darcy was summoned for a meeting with Licht and other top CNN executives, who took exception to the overzealous framing of the fallout the network has received, particularly from liberals.
Darcy appeared to join the choir of CNN criticism in his "Reliable Sources" newsletter Wednesday night after the town hall.
"It can't be based on emotion, it's got to be based on fact," a source familiar with Licht's thinking told Fox News Digital about Darcy's reporting.
The source said Licht received a "ton" of messages from CNN staffers appalled by Darcy's newsletter, which emphasizes how CNN and Licht were facing tense backlash "internally" as well as externally.
The messages, according to the source, were like "what the f---."
"I'm asking you to not be emotional," the source paraphrased what Licht told Darcy at the meeting, adding that he wanted nonemotional coverage applied to all news outlets, not just CNN.
Puck News first reported that after Licht stood by the Trump town hall on CNN's Thursday morning editorial call, he brought Darcy and his editor Jon Passantino in for a meeting later in the day. Darcy was then told by CNN's top brass "his coverage had been too emotional and [Licht] repeatedly stressed the importance of remaining dispassionate when covering the news, be it CNN or any other media organization."

"Darcy stood by his work and pushed back on the 'emotional' characterization, one source with knowledge of the meeting said. But afterward two sources who heard about the meeting described him as visibly shaken. 'They put the fear of God into him,' one source said," Puck News' Dylan Byers reported Friday.
A spokesperson for CNN declined to comment.
In his Wednesday newsletter, Darcy began, "It's hard to see how America was served by the spectacle of lies that aired on CNN Wednesday evening." He complained about how Trump "lied" about various topics during the town hall despite attempted fact-checks by CNN moderator Kaitlan Collins, yet "CNN aired it all."
"On and on it went. It felt like 2016 all over again. It was Trump's unhinged social media feed brought to life on stage. And Collins was put in an uncomfortable position, given the town hall was conducted in front of a Republican audience that applauded Trump, giving a sense of unintended endorsement to his shameful antics," Darcy wrote. "Yes, some news was made... But for most of the night, the nation's eyes were transfixed on Trump's abuse of the platform that he was given."

This "news" person doesn't believe that a "news" organization should "platform" Trump.

I know I already said this, but: Amazing.

"You have every right to be outraged and angry and never watch this network again. But do you think staying in your silo and only listening to people you agree with is going to make that person go away?" Cooper lectured his liberal viewers.

There's an open, on-air revolt against Licht, with sanctimonious pricks and gaywads like Jake Tapper and Anderson Cooper attacking the network on the network's telecasts for "platforming" Trump, who is, of course, one of the leading candidates for the presidency.

Have no doubt: People like Tapper attended a "wake" when former head Jeff Zucker was fired. They want Licht out and they want Zucker back, and they're daring Licht to fire them for their open insubordination.

My guess is that Licht doesn't want to confront them directly, but hopes that by attacking this little pissant they'll get the message.

It won't work.

The Washington Post published an article last weekend pointing out that the Ukraine Papers show that Zelensky really wants to use long-range missiles to hit targets deep inside of Russia, has considered blowing up the pipeline that Hungary uses to get natural gas from Russia, and is generally considerably more aggressive in private than his public persona.

It was about October with the subscription being a regular Christmas present. "Hey, Dad, I don't really need that. I'll get back to you later with what you can get me instead."

I worked at a place that showed MSNBC (by contract - back in the 90s they inked a deal with Microsoft that gave them perpetual discounts on their Windows licenses if they agreed to show MSNBC - and only MSNBC - in the workplace). I was on night shift. Hours and hours of prison shows every night.

The polling article from JJ's morning roundup reflected that difficulty in getting at working class seldom voters that showed up for Trump in 2016 and 2020 but not midterms in 2018 and 2022.

Simply put, unmarried suburban women are not the demographic to pursue for elections but rather working class that have been shit on by GOPe and Dems alike.

That is of course assuming that the breathtaking level of fraud present in AZ is dealt with in key states.

Back in 2016 the media outlets tripped all over themselves giving Trump massive amounts of publicity because they actually WANTED him as the Republican candidate. It was assumed that he was going to get his ass handed to him in the general election. So, essentially, they made him by their own hands.

Then, when he wins and has some success in office despite the unfair opposition at every turn, they do a full 180 degree turn (as is standard in the progressive over-reaction lexicon) and decide that censorship and indifference is their next move. So, Trump's visitation to a town hall is the antithesis of this which really rubs the wrong way on people like Darcy who are excitable little lemmings who thought their was a strategy to keep Trump away from the trough.

It's very fun to watch.

Which has been obvious for a long time now. Trump delivered the working class. Nobody else even bothers to talk to them. In the 2020 campaign, the sad sack old-school Union Democrat from Ohio (I forget his name) was the only person besides Trump going hard at the working class vote, and he never had a chance in that crowded field. The second-best was probably former CO governor Hickenlooper, but he his fakeness seeped through everything he said and did (though he did otherwise look and sound good doing it and some small number might have been fooled.).

The reason is that most of what benefits the working class comes at the expense of elites. The working class has to sell its labor--it has little if no other alternative. So, that means shutting off the influx of newcomers lowering wages or it means unions that effectively do the same thing.

We will see if the coming AI surge does the same for most of the white and particularly pink collar industries favored by women.

It might. The general economic downturn we're at the start of will probably have greater effects, at least for this cycle. A lot of those jobs will be destroyed as companies have to try to make money and can't just keep faking it through ever greater quantities of ever cheaper debt.

There's no money in refinance and it should surprise no one that the refinance volume is declining. You don't refi at a higher rate under most circumstances.

I also suspect, if this uptrend in interest rates continues (I think it will) that housing turnover is going to slow down, too. People will move less often.

But that's my question. Why is the West supporting this? They get nothing from his obnoxious gallivanting and it is costing their respective countries which rely on Russia for energy. If Ukraine wins, what do they get that they weren't getting before? They will be just be poorer having provided arms and treasure which is now down the drain.. My wife routinely drives here to San Diego (650mi) in the Tesla - two 20 min charges (it's called lunch and a pee) on the way. It works for her. But it's all about charging infrastructure, and Tesla did that beautifully in California.

Yeah that's a drawback to online. You can sense the crazy on someone in person, I've had to do it a few times in real life. You can tell how old someone is in real life. Online? Its anybody's guess what or who you are even talking to.

If I'm talking to a woman who is very angry looking and tense, I can tell in real life, and be gentle or let stuff slide. Online, you cannot tell they are cramping really bad or haven't eaten for 5 hours, or have a brutal headache, or just had to deal with a complete ahole themselves and are frustrated still.

They don't want it to fall and are paying high prices now. There are rumors with some backup that a lot of other nasty things were going on - Biologicals, forced organ sales, child trafficing...

Why they started it in the first place is a more difficult question. They backed the NeoNazis in Ukraine to throw out the Russians, and then couldn't keep them from various atrocities during the time since the coup that put them in power. And the final straw is that they had convinced themselves that they could destroy Russia by sanctions...and they could not and did not. So now the war is covering for the idiocy of the elite leadership of the West.

Yes it is. It's fine that it is, but it's certainly a toy. You have real cars for when you don't need a vehicle that can only take certain routes where there is guaranteed power that, as you said, eats Corvettes.

No. Limited usefulness? My fucking Silverado is 'llmited usefulness' I hate trying to park it in half the places around here and it drinks diesel. The Tesla is not limited by anything we do routinely, as I said 4 people up and down the state.. If necessary the daughter drives the GL550. There's always Enterprise Rent-A-Car if you need more capacity.

I'll drop this now. As I said, it really only matters if you have Tesla charging sites around where you're going.

VW got arm-twisted into funding Electrify America charging sites. The only ones around here have four chargers. Tesla? 16-64 chargers per site.
