Anheuser-Busch: C'Mon, It Was Just a Single Influencer Hired by Some Rogue Low-Level Staffers in the Cincinatti Office

It's just one influencer and one post, Anheuser-Busch claims. It's not a full marketing campaign.

Michel Doukeris, the chief executive of Bud Light parent company Anheuser-Busch InBev, dismissed the controversial partnership between the beer brand and social media influencer Dylan Mulvaney in an analyst call on Thursday.

You know who's really at fault in all of this?

You are. I mean you, conservatives peddling "misinformation" about Bud Light and Dylan Mulvaney.

Bud Light has hemorrhaged sales in recent weeks after executives partnered with Mulvaney, a biological man who claims to be a woman, and chronicled his purported gender transition on social media. Doukeris told analysts that social media users are spreading "misinformation" about the nature of the partnership, according to a report from Fox Business.

WHAT WE WANTED: an apology.

WHAT WE WOULD HAVE SETTLED FOR: A promise to never do this again

WHAT WE GOT: Insults that we are liars spreading "misinformation"

I don't think that's going to quell the boycott, A-B.

"We need to clarify the facts," the executive for the Belgian conglomerate remarked, adding that the controversy is about "one influencer, one post and not a campaign."

Sales for draft beer products marketed by Anheuser-Busch InBev nevertheless fell in the immediate aftermath of the partnership and continues to decline weeks after the controversy as beer enthusiasts search for alternatives. Doukeris revealed that Anheuser-Busch is now "providing direct financial support" to delivery drivers, sales representatives, wholesalers, bar owners, and other workers affected by the boycott.

I guess that's our fault, rather than the transnational conglomerate that decided to go woke and insult its customers as "fratty" and "lowbrow."

...

Senior marketing executives were sidelined following the partnership with Mulvaney, who has also received a number of sponsorships from other corporate brands. Alissa Heinerscheid, who was responsible for the collaboration and previously stated that she wanted to change the "fratty" image associated with Bud Light, was placed on a leave of absence, while Daniel Blake, who leads marketing efforts for mainstream Anheuser-Busch brands, was likewise placed on leave.

No firings.

The firings are important: They are afraid of the left, so they routinely fire people when the left tells them to.

Anheuser-Busch chief executive Brendan Whitworth issued a statement in response to the controversy but did not make mention of Mulvaney or apologize to customers, provoking additional criticism from consumers.

No apologies, either. They still fear the left more than us. They know that if they apologize, the left will scalp them.

They must be made to fear our scalpings just as much.

But they don't, because of our suicidal "no boycotts, no cancellations" policy.

The left has made that policy No Longer Operative. It's time to grow the fuck up and get in the game. We didn't want to play this game, but this game has been forced on us by people who are playing the hell out of it, night and day, day and night.

Playing "The Nice Guys" who never punish businesses out of political motives has got our faces kicked in by the corporations, who do whatever the left does because they fear them.

It's time to make them fear us.

We need firings.

YOU WILL BE MADE TO CARE ABOUT CONSERVATIVES.

WE CANNOT MAKE YOU LIKE US, BUT WE CAN MAKE YOU TREMBLE TO CROSS US.

And we will do that.

We must do that.

The left isn't playing around any more. They're trying to get Supreme Court Justices murdered by their antifa Terror Troops.

And we're still whining about not wanting to hurt businesses or their employees?

We deserve to lose.

It's in the nature of conservatives not to want to play by those rules. Leftism is built upon seeing human beings as abstractions upon which political doctrines can be projected; the Right has consistently opposed that going back to Burke.

They aren't going to apologize or fire anyone, for the reasons Ace sets forth above. So if that's the case, their obvious best strategy is to just lay low and quietly bring out some better ads. 46 Doukeris told analysts that social media users are spreading "misinformation" about the nature of the partnership, according to a report from Fox Business.
++++
Nobody cares about the "nature of the partnership." A one-off by a low-level drone or top-level corporate policy, it doesn't matter. It is irrelevant.

What is relevant is that you did it. You did it, then you refused to acknowledge the controversy, you refused to take responsibility, then you shifted to blaming your customers. The "nature of the partnership" has no bearing. The facts speak themselves. Those facts are simple, although not good for you: you hate your customers, you did something provocative that you knew your customers would dislike and you blamed your customers for disliking it.

And your customers are now punishing you, as they rightly should. And the "nature of your partnership" with Mulvaney isn't even a minor factor in that punishment. Nobody cares. This is the kind of shit that assholes like this guy hide behind in an incompetent and predictable attempt to deflect away from the real problem: that the punishment they are facing was predictable and appropriate.

154 No apologies, either. They still fear the left more than us. They know that if they apologize, the left will scalp them.

They must be made to fear our scalpings just as much.

But they don't, because of our suicidal "no boycotts, no cancellations" policy.

++++
That's a part of it. But there *is* a boycott happening right now, and it appears to be working. It also appears to be sustaining. If it keeps up through the major summer holidays (Memorial Day and Independence Day), it is going leave a crater in their earnings.

And that is the lesser problem, and why they don't ever back down. The greater problem is Woke Capital. If they backtrack, apologize, fire the people involved, etc., they'll lose that precious ESG score and their Board of Directors - under instructions from the Woke Capital institutions like Blackrock and Vanguard - will be fired and replaced with new drones. They got into bed with these people, and now they're tied to the bedposts with no way to get out. Even if the company fails. It doesn't matter. The fear they feel *personally* comes from their Woke Capital paymasters, not from the customers who are fleeing them in droves.

Homebrewing is pretty simple. As long as you maintain proper sanitary conditions, you are unlikely to have a bad batch. We must, but because of the structure of the game, it has to be total war. A boycott like this - against whatever target - must be close to total and sustained over a long period. In order to make them fear - I mean personally fear, fear for themselves and their future - us more than they fear Twitter mobs and Woke Capital, they have to understand that no amount of Woke Capital can save them if they lose their entire customer base and are destroyed in the market. Losing access to cheap bonds is irrelevant if the company is destroyed.

So we must destroy. Hit them and don't let up. Turn InBev - if possible - into an object lesson. To do what Ace is talking about, they have to fear the pissed off customer more than they fear their Wall Street paymasters. To accomplish that, the destruction must be total.

"Fuck those flyover rubes" is a major motivator for a lot of the "white" NPC Democrat base. The problem is that lots of minorities, especially black and Hispanic men, don't particularly want to see a queer on their beer. And most of the hipsters wouldn't be caught dead drinking corporate beer, even for the sake of irony (unless it's PBR a decade ago).

The broader trends of New York advertising simply hate the white Christian population too much to do anything but relentlessly attack them. They control the banks and media, for now: it'll be interesting to see what happens when that changes. Very soon.

It's a no-win argument for InBev to make, because there are only two possible conclusions:
1. They're telling the truth and they didn't know or approve of it - which means that they let some middle executive drone fuck with their most valuable property without checks or balances, and they are poor stewards of the corporation who are managing it recklessly. The officers should all be removed for losing control of a major industrial enterprise.
2. They're lying and they did know and approve of it - which means that the officers have made a catastrophic decision with brutal consequences for the company and then tried to pin it on a subordinate rather than take responsibility. They are both dishonest and incompetent. The officers should all be removed for failure to lead, failure to take responsibility, damage to the company and lying to investors.

228 One problem with imposing financial pain on these companies. Since the actions of the company support the goals of the deep state, the deep state can just prop them up with any amount of taxpayer money.

If a company does anything that does not further the goals of the deep state, the left can raise a ruckus and try a financial hit on that non-treasonous company. That neutral company knows they will be left twisting in the wind and bearing the full brunt of whatever attack the left implements.

That is nice. I like the modern commercials, at least until they recut them to salvage their trans Hindenburg, but it's nice.

Even so, InBev is much more likely to abuse its international oligopoly to stifle American competition than make any of the changes conservative "influencers" want. There are too many grifters like Hannity and anyone at TownHall media to make this a sustained and focused campaign, while most of the loudest voices simply don't have the influence they pretend to have.

That’s what conservatives need to do with these woke corporations. Budweiser is probably the biggest baddest beer brand in the US, so if we can keep this up and force them to cry “uncle,” apologize and actually fire people, this could be just the object lesson we need. And if not, then we’ll have to keep finding new woke corps to beat up, at least until they finally get the message and, as Ace says, they learn to fear us at least as much as they fear the left.

If a company does anything that does not further the goals of the deep state, the left can raise a ruckus and try a financial hit on that non-treasonous company. That neutral company knows they will be left twisting in the wind and bearing the full brunt of whatever attack the left implements.

If brewing alcohol was difficult, it wouldn't have been one of the first things humans invented.

269 I find it odd that we have to boycott a product that's absolutely terrible to begin with, in a market with literally dozens of alternatives. Shouldn't the product have died on its own by now?

The answer, of course, is that Bud Light is purely a creation of marketing. Nobody buys it for the taste. It tastes like real beer mixed with pisswater filtered through Dylan Mulvaney's monkeypox-encrusted asshole with a hint of smegma from a hobo's bozack after watching David French's gay porn.

People buy BL because they've been brainwashed by marketing. This is why AB is so scared. Take away the marketing, there is literally no market for their shitty beer.

320 I really don't get AB's response to this. Are they TRYING to further piss off their customers?

Posted by: Elric Blade

It's as Ace said, they fear the left more. They piss us off, and we'll stop buying their stuff for a while, maybe longer. They piss off the left and they'll have angry mobs outside their houses at 2am and/or have their delivery trucks burned to the ground, or worse.

Conservatives, normies, whoever need to follow through with this sort of thing and drive a corporation into bankruptcy if only to show to both us and them that it can be done. And while such demonstrations against the likes of Amazon and the NFL didn't quite pan out, AB has a lot of competition which makes them vulnerable. I live in a town of ~60k people and we have our own local microbrew that I've been "getting around" to trying for 4 years, may be time for me to follow through myself.

323 As a former Anheuser-Busch employee, and currently working in the industry, I saw this kind of BS coming from far away. Got out two years ago because of how bad it was there, and it's only gotten worse, clearly. The only chance at recovery would be to damage the company so badly that Inbev would sell them back off to be American owned again.

As much as they've taken hits in the past month, their stock price has mostly recovered, and Bud Light has been declining for a decade or more already. This hurts them, but it won't stop them. Conservatives need to hit all their Large brands at once to really make them feel it.

ABs billion dollar brands:
Bud Light, the largest beer brand in the US.
Budweiser
Michelob Ultra, soon to be the biggest beer in the US. This one failing would really hurt them
Stella Artois

Beyond beer and craft. These two segments give them lots of margin to keep paying for the groomers. Destroy these, and they will finally apologize. Though they won't mean it, so keep hurting them.

Nutrl vodka seltzer, their current fastest growing brand
Cutwater spirits
Golden Road
Elysian
Goose Island

Those are the keys to hurting them.

326 Man, these clowns are stupid.

One, they are alienating the vast majority of their customers for a teeny-tiny-eensy-weensy little demographic slice of non-customers for their product.

The smart thing to do is simply say something along the lines of:
"We'd like to apologize to our customers. We're a beer company. Making the best beer in America is our job and we shouldn't have gotten involved in politics.

We sincerely apologize to any Bud drinkers who were offended by our partnership with Dildo McPherson(or whatever that guy's name is). And we won't do it again.

The people responsible for this campaign have been fired and will not be rehired.

We promise to stay out of politics completely in the future. And we ask that you give us a second chance.

Come home to Bud and you'll find that we're still making the same great brew you've always loved.

Come home to Bud."
And then ignore the leftards completely and watch the cash roll in.
Buuuuuuuut, they're stupid and their stock holders should take action to get rid of the board.

Buuuuuuut, that won't happen either.
Sad.

360 It's a no-win argument for InBev to make, because there are only two possible conclusions:

While those are the biggest brands, and I just bet Mark Levin would love to claim this is the Great Conservative Uprising, it isn't. I'd bet the majority of beer drinkers care very little about broader conservative principles, and simply don't want to drink gay beer.

Now, some people will buy into rejecting A-B InBev, but that won't actually help them if they switch over to Coors-Molson instead. The mindset of awakening to corporate control and rejecting it matters. But it's not something everyone is suited to.

Sort of. InBev owns Modelo outside of the US. If it is manufactured or distributed outside of the US, it's InBev.

If it's manufactured and distributed inside the US, it's Constellation Brands. If it's manufactured outside the US, imported, and then distributed domestically, a piece goes to both.

InBev had to divest its US rights to Modelo when it bought Tranhauser-Busch because of antitrust considerations.

403 The smart thing to do is simply say something along the lines of: "We'd like to apologize to our customers.

Trannies are weird perverts, we should've known better than to listen to a woman.

Come home to Bud and you'll find that we're still making the same great brew you've always loved.

Come home to Bud."

Dislikes: 25k (+1k)
Ratio: 50:1 against (from 50.96:1 against)

It's slowed down and I'll probably quit tracking it, but it is still good for a larf.

Congrats, InBev. You done fucked up.

480 "They still fear the left more than us. They know that if they apologize, the left will scalp them."

They know that civilized people still cling to traditional expectations of mutual respect, to rules, to rational behavior. The Left has no such compunction.

And so the antifa Left will always win victories in civil societies -- the very thing they hate and *need* in order to operate, with their childish antics and screaming and hiding behind the rules they say they want abolished. No society of their own making would ever tolerate the kind of petulant bullshit they use as a means of disrupting civil society. They'd act up and immediately have the heads chopped off.

Even jumping over to Coors does no good because effectively they are just as woke, just not as blatant about it.

Yup. Shit's going to get exciting.

The coming financial crisis and deepening recession will also act as a moderating force on some of this stuff. Eventually, a company has to start making money if it wants to remain in business, Woke Capital notwithstanding. With rising interest, depressed lending, less debt availability, recession, penny-pinching customers, etc., the companies won't be able to just refinance their way out of trouble anymore.

556 Picking one target and destroying it - Alinsksy-style - has value on its own.

If we were a bit more organized, we could destroy a company's profitability by screwing up its forecasting and supply chain.

Take a product, any product, and unison decide not to buy it for at least a month. That will screw up their orders, their inventory, their staffing, their forecasting models, their distributorships, their emergency meetings, their advertising cycles, may even be embarrassing on the earnings calls when the CEO can't figure out why sales have plummeted and their targets missed.

Investors will do the punishing for them. Savvy investors will anticipate the scheduled and coordinated boycott and short the stock just prior to the earnings call.

Eventually, a company has to start making money if it wants to remain in business, Woke Capital notwithstanding. Three things on that. I know you're a 'tard, but others reading this might have similar misapprehensions.

First, the default assumption is always that whatever the public problem is, it's a flash in the pan. There's some panic selling and then a recovery. It's pretty normal. This is not something that will be apparent in the short term.

Second, the stock market is pretty firmly disconnected from reality.

Third, wait for quarterly earnings. If the sales collapse continues through the quarter, the hole in the revenue is going to be gigantic and the stock market *will* respond to a major fall in profitability and revenue, especially if it causes a cut to the dividend.

602 The left has both punishments and rewards. They could decide, for example, to proclaim it the official US government beer. States like California could say that alcoholic drinks can get reimbursed from now on, but only from a "socially-aware" list. Cities and universities can (and probably will) adopt policies that you can organize Oktoberfest only if all brands are "inclusive". Or maybe in a first stage masked people will come and puncture the barrels of non-conforming brands. Maybe there will be "spontaneous" protests in stores too. It won't take more than a couple of incidents and everyone will get on board, brands and stores together. You know most want to.
I'm not sure the right can beat the left at this game. But surely this is a bipartisan issue we can all get behind? It's about human rights, after all.

Yeah, but most of these companies are centralized in Wall Street, and their biggest investors are either part of the same tribal oligarchy or beholden to them. Really, the smartest thing they could do is accept Donald Trump being the 47th President, writing off the Democrats for a generation, and hoping that China will want to partner with MAGA America while dismantling globalism.

And that's why they won't do that. Besides the cultural tendency to perpetually double down, they're rapidly running out of options. Prison is going to look pretty comfy compared to the millions of people worldwide who will be ready to skin the oligarchs for their pedophilia, and billions (with a B) more who want to kill them for being the fraudster overlords of the collapsing American financial system.

It might be nice to come out of this on the other side. It might not. But you can't control that. Only your reaction to the world. Let's go.

I applaud the good intentions, but people need to do a little research and have a lot of discipline or it won't amount to anything.

Posted by: Oldstoke at May 04, 2023 03:19 PM (z7sfH)

Boycotts are about symbolism. You don’t need to (and realistically, you can’t) boycott every company that does something you don’t like. As the guru of activism Saul Alinsky said, you pick one target, isolate it, and do as much economic and reputational damage as possible.

Don’t let the perfect be the enemy of the good. I read far too many conservatives griping about the success of this boycott because it doesn’t target every In-Bev brand, or we should have gone after some other company, etc. No, this is a huge win, hopefully the dawn of a new era of conservatives learning to fight back effectively.

Posted by: Rusty Trawler at May 04, 2023 03:40 PM (1gif2)

606 I just read the earnings call transcript, and it sounds like AB is hoping to paper over a serious problem. In the call, an analyst says Bid Light has $5 billion in annual sales, and spends about $250 million annually in marketing. The company has doubled the budget, focusing on the NFL and summer music events.

If sales declines are in the neighborhood of 25%, and no one has denied that's the neighborhood, then the boycott (which is only one month old) has already cost AB 2% of $5 bill in sales, or $100 million. Every month. If it stays at that level for 12 months, that's $1.25 billion in lost sales.

On top of the lost sales so far, they are spending another $250 million (to start) in marketing.

So far, then, this one month event has cost the company $350 million, according to the company earnings transcript this morning. It could about triple this year, if the boycott takes hold, and (incuding increased marketing costs), and using their math, end up costing around $1.5 billion. BILLION.

Paying attention yet, Bob Iger? Ruprecht Murdoch?

I'm laughing because this is very true. I never went to kegs, but i went to pint bottles then to 1.5 liter (wine bottle size) with the rubber stoppers because filling 12 oz bottles and hand capping were a pain in the butt when you were putting up 10+ gallons of beer. It just took too much time. And it is kind of fussy because you have to keep everything clean and then there are spills and drips and all of the sudden I think I need a kegging system.

OK, I'll take you up on the idea. In Colorado Springs, Colorado there is a brewery called RED LEG BREWERY that not surprisingly is owned by some retired field artillery types. They have a variety of brews, and have won national awards.

I will note that I have a non-financial interest in the brand, and that I myself no longer drink alcohol [it conflicts with my heart meds]. And when I drank I tended more towards stouts not light beers. But y'all may want to give one of theirs a try.
