32 I mentioned a couple weeks ago I had a female red fox build her den right outside my back door in a pile of logs. She had three kits, all a couple months old. They were grey and black. I guess they turn color later on. She would sit on top of the pile of logs scanning for prey and watching for predators while her kits played pounce on each other.

She was maybe twenty or thirty feet right outside my window. It was amazing to watch them that up close.

I'm guessing she moved them because they've been gone a week now. Probably cleared out the food source in the area and moved on.

When you run cable through a conduit, you run a long narrow steel band, called fish tape, through the conduit, then tape the cable to the fish tape, then pull it back. I suspect they did something similar here.

That chain is run through the culvert pipe before the storm, and is a bit more than double the length of the pipe.

The end are brought up over the driveway, and joined in the middle with a strong padlock.

After the storm, it's unlocked, one end is secured to the tire, and the other to a strong tractor of 4x4 truck with a real Granny Gear compound low. Takes a HUGE amount of torque to do the job, but with the right equipment, the job gets done.

When one has hired the cheap contractor to install the damn thing.

Do it yourself, and weld in cross-bars about every 2' along the length of the pipe, one to each side, one pointing straight down.

Fill the culvert trench with concrete. Don't just backfill it with loose dirt. And then top the concrete with the final 12" to 16" with soil on top.

I do overkill on projects. The ground anchor for the gates I built is 12"x12" form, holding the 3/4" I.D. galvanized pipe, with 1/2" rebar welded onto the pipe, penetrating the forms in all four directions. Full 50 lb. bag of concrete in there. Pics in Bogging Thread in a week or three. I made it to "tie in" with more rebar and mesh, when I eventually make the whole area a parking apron with driveway.

A Dutch court on Friday banned a man from donating any more of his sperm after he fathered at least 550 children in the Netherlands and other countries and misled prospective parents about the number of offspring he helped to conceive.

A judge at The Hague District Court ordered the halt in an injunction brought by the mother of a child conceived with the donor's sperm and a foundation representing other parents.

The court noted that under Dutch guidelines, sperm donors are allowed to produce a maximum of 25 children with 12 mothers and that the donor lied to prospective parents about his donation history.

The donor's lawyer said in a court hearing that he wanted to help parents who would otherwise be unable to conceive.
