Sefton: sefton at cutjibnewsletter.com | TMZ: Newsmax Is Offering Tucker Carlson His Own Show. They're Also Offering to Let Him Program the Entire Network. In other words, they're not offering Tucker Carlson a show, they're offering him the whole network. Newsmax can't afford to pay Tucker Carlson what he'd command in salary, so they're almost certainly offering him an ownership stake in the company, too. This would work out well for me. Newsmax is on Pluto (that is, it's available on streaming, unlike Fox.) Before getting to that: Rupert Murdoch, who is, of course, a big fan of Zelenskyy and unlimited commitment to the Ukranian cause, just had a conversation with Zelenskyy a couple of weeks before Murdoch fired Tucker. The topic of the conversation? Zelenskyy didn't like Tucker Carlson's skeptical coverage. The NYT:Fox News Executive Chairman Rupert Murdoch held a previously unreported call with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy this spring in which the two discussed the war and the anniversary of the deaths of Fox News journalists last March. The Ukrainian president had a similar conversation with Lachlan Murdoch on March 15, which Zelenskyy noted in a little-noticed aside during a national broadcast last month. The conversations came weeks before the Murdochs fired their biggest star and most outspoken critic of American support for Ukraine, Tucker Carlson. Senior Ukrainian officials had made their objections to Carlson's coverage known to Fox executives, but Zelenskyy did not raise it on the calls with the Murdochs, according to one person familiar with the details of the calls.Well Rupert Murdoch was at least aware. Pretty sure it would have come up on a call with his Hero. Rupert Murdoch's Donor Class/GOPe palz are all praising him for firing Tucker: But Carlson's firing will immediately relieve pressure on key Capitol Hill Ukraine supporters whom Carlson had criticized on air -- and sometimes pressed behind the scenes to change their positions on the war. Texas Rep. Michael McCaul has been one of the most outspoken Republican supporters of the US support for Ukraine, stepping out of line to occasionally reprimand figures in his own party who do not share his views on the subject. Regardless of the reason for Carlson's departure, more moderate pro-Ukraine members of the Republican caucus on the Hill are not hiding their relief. "There have been some that have argued that he was setting foreign policy for the Republican Party, which I find to be bizarre. Certainly not for me," Sen. Mitt Romney told the Hill. "To the primary [Republican] voter, the active participant, the grassroot voter, he's a person they listen to and has a big influence."This is just another piece of the puzzle. Rupert Mudoch wants his network parroting Rupert Murdoch's opinions about everything. He does not want a Tucker Carlson questioning his Corporate Agenda and worse yet, becoming bigger than Fox itself. Whether it's Tucker Carlson running down his corporate buddies, or his pet politicians like Mitch McConnell, or upsetting Rupert Murdoch by suggesting that the federal asset Ray Epps was a federal asset, or questioning his Boomer instinct to support America's involvement in every single conflict in the world, or his ex-fianc&eactue;e wanting Tucker to plow her up her stinkcooter... The old man brought ego and vanity into business. Very unwise. Newsmax wants Tucker to come in and make them a Fox-Killer. At this point, I think Tucker is probably very interested in that scenario himself. Tucker Carlson has confirmed that he "still works for Fox." Therefore, Fox is still attempting to claim, "You're not fired, you'll just be paid to not ever be on TV." Meanwhile, someone -- certainly not Fox News or Irena Briganti -- leaks more video of Tucker to Media Matters, this time. (Last time the leak went to the NYT.) This new clip shows Tucker knocking how unusable the Fox Nation website is, and how no one will watch the content he posts there because the site itself is so bad. Megyn Kelly believes this newest leak is Fox's attempt to warn Newsmax away from bringing Tucker in -- telling Newsmax, "You can't trust him, he's not a team-player, he'll talk about you behind your backs!" This has to be coming from a woman. Who the hell else would care about this bullshit? Comments(Jump to bottom of comments)1

Murdoch's call with Z-man doesn't matter, I mean, from the standpoint of FNC firing Tucker Carlson. Carlson was mentioned or he wasn't. Whatever.
It is more relevant, though, for a different reason. Foreign heads of state having secret conversations with the owners of major domestic news outlets is, to say the least, troubling. Something I have not seen brought up is that that Heritage talk sounded like Carlson was being introspective about standing up for what you know to be true.
It sounds to me like he was seeing friction before hand, and had decided to be less compromising. So it sounds like he was getting heat over positions leading up to the firing. Posted about this over at Insty. I'm doubtful that we'll get the full Monty for 2 reasons: 1. Thousands of prior decisions in the federal courts that would be put into question, so definitely not retroactive. 2. When literally every action by an administrative agency would become grounds for a challenge, there aren't enough Article III courts to handle it, nor is SCOTUS likely to put the lower courts in that position (or for that matter, for 5 justices to believe that the Constitution would require it). So what is the limiting principle, if the courts will review some, but not all, administrative agency decisions? You wind up with something like the "Major Questions" doctrine, at best, but Chevron stays in place for anything that's not a major question. That's the best possible outcome. Let's not get too excited. Posted by: Caesar North of the Rubicon at May 01, 2023 04:38 PM (7B5FA) 60

Posted by: Caesar North of the Rubicon at May 01, 2023 04:46 PM (7B5FA) =========== It's not the major regulations that are the biggest problem, I think. It's the thousands and thousands of small ones that may or may not have anything to do with the written law that they were supposedly derived from. If there's a revisitation of Chevron that weakens it, it has to lead to, at a minimum, a new means test that lower courts must use to gauge if regulations are in line with statute, which opens the floodgates of lawsuits that steadily, and possibly quite quickly, leads to a lessening of administrative power. The brisk nature of the Dobbs' conclusion, though, pushes me more towards, "All regulations not in alignment with explicit text of the statute authorizing it is void." Hopium tastes good, man. I get such vibes off of it. Posted by: TheJamesMadison, being witty and sophisticated with Ernst Lubitsch at May 01, 2023 04:50 PM (xPkf4) 120

It's called "Philo" and it's about $25 per month. It is a mid-line cable package - except it *does* not include local channels, sports channels or news channels. As a result, it's half as much as the other streaming cable package replacements. If you don't watch cable news or sports but *do* want the entertainment channels, it can't be beat for value. The movie Network, if not the world of the 70's, is very clearly the world of now.
News Corporations are the tools and PR campaigns for TPTB. Reportage? Meh, an occasional public service by mere accident. Otherwise, pure propaganda to manipulate your allegiances, beliefs, preferences, and entire life. "News" has nothing to do with it. >>So many people drink Bud Light because their Dad drank it and their friends drink it, and they never really tried anything else. Lets face it, people who drink Bud Light are not too discriminating when it comes to beer. One piss water beverage is just as good as any other piss water beverage, so its never a good idea to make your customers think hard about their piss water beer choice. Posted by: Just Lily ___ Coors isn't AB. Ultimately, if Bud Light sales crater, that's the message. Obviously, I'd like AB's whole line up to go down, but I'm far more interested in other companies seeing how destructive going "woke" is then revenue numbers for a parent company as a whole. If Bud Light sells billions less in beer, these CEO's are going to flinch when they get bullied into going woke. Posted by: Blago at May 01, 2023 05:29 PM (mV3UA) 342

I was in Walmart yesterday and walked down the liquor aisle. I have seen how very many AB products there are and it looked like it was entirely possible that there are very few non AB products in their cooler for sale. Since I don't drink beer I wouldn't know, but Coors products were almost gone but the Bud section was pretty full. How many of the other brands were also owned by AB, no idea.

Citicorp etc had a meeting and stated they are looking forward the rebuilding of Ukraine. That will be the US and EU pumping even more money in and that going to these companies. We are on the hook for a long time in that country unless someone with some balls steps up. I saw JD Vance complaining about it which was good.
Also, European countries are unloading their old useless equipment into Ukraine because they are getting reimbursed for around 70% of the stated price. This is literally what I was daydreaming I'd do if I ran Newsmax the day that FOX cancelled Tucker's show.
Every bit of it: Have your own show, have control of ALL of the other programming on the network, and the goal to make Newsmax what FOX could/should have been all along. It'd have to be appealing to Tucker: He'd have his own entire Network. Only problem is that he's still employed by FOX and his contract runs through the end of 2024.
