What's next -- posing with a bottle of Bud Light? So yeah, there are dividing lines being formed. GOP candidates are lining up to to defend an evil, child-corrupting groomer corporation if it helps them "draw a distinction" from "DeSanctimonious."Matt WalshUpdate: Fox's Trump shill Steve Hilton has on Kat Timpf to explain why it's bad that DeSantis is fighting Disney. Kat Timpf! What a strong conservative voice Hilton has to agree that we shouldn't fight corporations! Now that Kat Timpf says it, I agree completely! The claim that this isn't coming from Trump Central is just flat-out wrong.
𝗦𝗵𝗼𝘄 𝗠𝗲 𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗗𝗮𝘁𝗮Ding! No one really believes she's running for President. She's advertising the fact that she can be an attack dog against DeSantis and blunt attacks on Trump for his difficult dealings with women and massive gender gap. This kind of group pile-on is usually directed at the front-runner, not a challenger who hasn't even declared yet. Relatedly: It turns out that Trump owns significant amounts of stock in InBev, the corporation that in turn owns Anheuser-Busch. Trump stayed silent on the controversy, Trump, Jr. told people to stop boycotting his corporate frenz. But DeSantis is the "Managed Principal" agent of the corporate establishment and "globohomo," according to Sundance and the paid Trump twitter accounts. The only guy opposing Disney is the guy secretly in their thrall. Wheels within wheels within wheels within wheels. If you don't like me pushing back against this stupid meme that Trump's paid shills are endlessly pushing on Twitter, tell them to stop pushing that, and then I'll have no need to "counterpunch." And maybe Trump needs to be told: This is not a winning issue for you. Republicans are rewarding DeSantis for being the only Republican willing to push back against groomer Disney. I think Trump supporters are ignoring this/downplaying it by claiming something like, "ah, he's just insulting DeSantis." No, he's doing a lot more than that: He's making policy going forward. He is committing himself to this Corporations Are Our Fwenz worldview, which I thought MAGA was all about repudiating, not rehabilitating. I supported Trump because I thought he was "The Only One Who Can Fix" the GOPe's servile, slavish attitude towards the corporate donor cartel. I sure didn't support him so he could defend that cartel. If you wonder why I keep harping on this: Because this is the single most important issue to me. This, and weaponization of government. (Which is a closely related issue, as the government enlists woke corporations to attack citizens in ways our increasingly-irrelevant Constitution says that the government itself may not participate in.) And I'm not changing my mind about woke corporations, even if Trump wants me to. Comments(Jump to bottom of comments)1

Say, government can't do X, Y, and Z, but corporations can.
So, we just threaten the corporations and force them into doing the things we can't. For example, the government can't ban you from twitter, but twitter can ban you from twitter. So, I just call the head of twitter and say "dude, we are going to pass a law that will hurt your company if you don't ban these right wingers." Or Disney - The central bank pushes ESG down on banks, the banks push it down on Disney, now your interest rate is tied to your LBGTQ friendliness, and voila. Disney is funding ads against Ron DeSantis. Posted by: Inspector kemp at April 26, 2023 05:25 PM (+DS2f) 49

She is definitely vying for a VP position. Remember Trump posted this on Truth Social- Trump- "DeSanctus is being absolutely destroyed by Disney. His original P.R. plan fizzled, so now he’s going back with a new one in order to save face,” "Disney’s next move will be the announcement that no more money will be invested in Florida because of the Governor. From the Politics is a Sport perspective:
This is a strong attack on Team Trump. It's an unnecessary forfeit on critical cultural issues for them. The "DeSantis isn't even a candidate!" tact is pedantic and annoying though. I dunno. There's a real risk this becomes a one-trick pony. While we're all dick measuring in the primary there are a ton of more important issues to be addressed. This is certainly a concern, but it's not going to win the presidency. The more people don't talk about Biden and what's happening to the country, the worse our chances of victory become. In fact, that's one of the reasons Democrat strategists want Trump to be their opposition candidate. It will be all about him and not Biden or his failures. This issue runs the same risk IMVHO

Posted by: MAGA_Ken at April 26, 2023 05:22 PM To be fair, DeSantis is in a tough position. Biden is as weak a Dem candidate as you could ever hope for, and DeSantis is looking good in Republican circles at the moment, so it seems like an ideal time to run... But Trump is the 800lb gorilla in the room. If DeSantis loses to him in the primaries, it could seriously hurt his chances in 2028. I think DeSantis wants to wait as long as possible, see if any legal or medical issues hurt Trump. If so, he's primed to swoop in and save the party from what I'm sure would be a list of loser Establishment types. If Trump stays free and in good shape...DeSantis has to wait. The problem that Trump faces with the cultural battle is that he was basically a New York liberal on social issues who would think this cultural stuff isn't something worth his while. By the way, remember how Disney used to make wonderful animated films for families?
Any 'Rons with young kids or grandkids are encouraged to go watch Suzume by Makota Shinkai. It's a really endearing anime about a high school girl running around Japan closing mystical doors in order to prevent earthquakes. It's very cool. The kind of movie Disney and PIXAR *used* to make. Y’all, don’t kill me. What I understood Donnie Jr was saying is if we as consumers let it be known we are unhappy with a corporation’s actions, and that corporation responds positively, we should also respond positively. I don’t see where that is wrong. Now we can argue that InBev hasn’t responded positively enough, but there are plenty who feel they should just die no matter what they do, even if they say all dems are awful. I personally would like corps to not wade into politics at all.
As for Disney, if they today saw the errors of their ways, stoped the grooming nonsense, returned to core values of being the most entertaining place on earth for families, burned their rainbow flags, made movies that were entertaining and not political statements, you know, all the things, I would respond. How else do we get corps to understand bad behavior gets bad results, changing course means changing course on their business, too? The problem that Trump faces with the cultural battle is that he was basically a New York liberal on social issues who would think this cultural stuff isn't something worth his while. Look at Trump supporters, hoping and wishing Disney prevails here.
Let’s let a major cultural institution win against us. All because it might help Trumps flagging support. The fact that Trump needs the sink this low shows you how weak and pathetic he really is. That's the bottom line that is so often obscured. The reason that these politicians are so destructive is because of the grossly oversized, over-powered, and unconstitutional federal government. I don't like Oregon legalizing pretty much every drug and going insane with policies but I do like the idea of having 50 states with 50 perspectives trying 50 different ways and showing what is best and what is not. Trump aligns with hideous people. Trump says stupid shit. etc. etc.
Guess what? He's been doing that for the last 20 years. Who gives a shit? The simple fact of the matter is that when he was President, he was the most fucking awesome President we've had since Reagan, probably better than Reagan. Best President in my lifetime and yours. He wasn't perfect. Until Jesus H. Christ returns, you ain't gonna get that. But best that is plausible? Damn straight. You may not like his obnoxious personality. You might not like his preening self-importance. I don't either. But when you weigh those shortcomings and character flaws against the positives, I don't give a shit about them. Do you, really? I probably prefer DeSantis as the President running the exec branch.
But I prefer Trump as nominee and President winner because I want TPTB to know that MAGA is unstoppable and their days are numbered. Kill Donnie, and 1000 more will rise to replace him. There is no going back to the way things were. Maybe Ronnie will govern as MAGA, but it would still be a win for the tactics they used to take down Donnie and I want the retribution. Now you can argue it SHOULD have an impact. And maybe it should. But as of right now, if your parents were born on Mars and you are born in South Carolina, you are a natural born citizen. I'll be real surprised if "because they criticized us" or "no, we just happened to decide Disney's privileges weren't kosher right after they criticized us, no connection, honest!" gets a judge to sign off on as being within the law. There's that pesky first amendment free speech stuff we all believe in so much. The idea that the government can bring the pain because of the exercise of constitutional rights comes straight from the left. DeSantis should have just yelled at them in press conferences; he's good at that. And he could have hurt Disney as much if not more by keeping it on a political level, not bringing the powers of the State into it at all. A DeSantis-led Disney boycott campaign would have brought dividends with GOP voters and left Trump no avenue of attack. Now Trump has one: DeSantis will lose this! And he will.

we used to argue a lot about "natural born citizen", a lot of people are unhappy with the current legal definition, but it's the law until someone amends the constitution or imposes a new one. According to SCOTUS precedent, there are only 2 kinds of citizens - those who are citizens from the moment of the birth, and those who become citizens at some point after they were born. The first group are natural born citizens, the second group are naturalized citizens. (That is a Legal Definition, it is not a point of debate) There is NO third group of citizenship under current law; it simply does not exist, no matter how hard some people might wish that it did.

Its not something we can solve overnight. There is no magic fix, no quick solution. Its going to take time, even generations. I've posted my answer here, but its not a very popular one: Have lots of kids. LOTS of them. Raise them away from government schools to be traditional, old fashioned Americans. Teach them to do the same. Just imagine how many conservative, traditional voters we'd have if people on the right had started doing this even as late as the 1980s. I agree that the district court's judgment should be reversed. At a minimum, as the majority opinion holds, the National Firearms Act of 1934 admits of an interpretation that excludes a bump stock from the definition of a "part" of a "machinegun" under that statute. Indeed, this is the original interpretation that the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives (ATF) gave to the statute. See ATF Rule 2006-2 at 2; 27 C.F.R. §§ 478.11 (2014), 479.11 (2016).

You can't fight against the Woke if you're dead or sick. ** Every state health director, every university professor, every doctor who pushed it, every world leader who pushed it, Bill Gates, DOnald Trump, Joe Biden, Anthony Fauci, all of them need trials for crimes against humanity. I think Trump doesn't even make it on the ballot. Trump is just a side story and something for DeSantis people to get whipped up about. The difficult part for DeSantis people is if Trump is removed from the scene, it's all on you. Your guy has to win support let alone work within a hostile party apparatus if he is the real deal you claim he is.
But I can see already that the excuses are baked into the cake. It'll be Trumps fault if the scenario I described plays out, DeSantis is the nominee then goes down in flames in the general. Given what happened during the Trump years, fueled by the Obama's divisive and weaponized tribal politics, later perfected by HRC and now Biden, being able to effectively fight all this chaos is now equally important to having effective government policies. FWIW, Scotus has never actually authoritatively defined what a natural born citizen is and do note that there is a restrictive limit in the 14th Amendment's wording requiring a . . . subject to the jurisdiction thereof. . . limitation on being a natural born citizen. In the debates in Congress and Wong Kim Ark, it was widely agreed that a child of a foreign diplomat is not subject to US laws and therefore not a natural born citizen regardless of where they were born because they are not subject to US jurisdiction.
The US v. Wong Kim Ark decision dealt with a child of two legal immigrants that gave birth in the US and then took Wong Kim back to China. He was barred from reentering the US and challenged it successfully and Scotus applied jus soli of what they believed was English common law via Blackstone's commentaries. But, English common law did make an exception between sojourners and those of the jus soli doctrine. For example travelers to other places, and diplomats, and at times citizens who owed allegiance to a foreign country. So, what subject to the jurisdiction thereof means for illegal immigrants or both parents being foreign citizens has never been tested. Posted by: whig at April 26, 2023 06:16 PM (+B/ab) 360

380, Since I live here in the US, I'm chiefly concerned with my country, but that if I care about people dying means I'm a Democrat, I guess I'm a Democrat. Or you're just a selfish pos.
During Covid I didn't wear a mask, I didn't let myself get frightened, like you obviously did, and I didn't get a jab. Again, you can dismiss it all you want. But you bought into the panic and fear and you'll die from it. Life IS about choices, and you chose poorly. Posted by: Mooby Diick at April 26, 2023 06:39 PM (dMSLy) 390
The ARC of History!: "Remember the two pillars of Traditional Republicanism:
1) Unlimited immigration, and; 2) Lower corporate income taxes, and support corporations in everything they do." Bingo. And don't forget to mention the war. Posted by: AnonyBotymousDrivel Remembers Babbitt and Perna at April 26, 2023 06:39 PM (aXxgO) 391

Then stop bitching. The world will be your shopping mall, if you are right. Drive through nice neighborhoods. Imagine all of them empty. The just pick the one you'll take. Posted by: Hairy Handed Gent at April 26, 2023 06:44 PM (G58JT) 392
391, Brother, you're bitching. All I did was talk about the big issue here. You replied to my comment. You're in the comment section. People comment in the comment section. Obviously you're upset. The vax fucks with your frontal lobe, by the way. So I get it. Watch those curves, and enjoy your beer.

Also, how does Nikki Weirdy clearly auditioning for Trump's VP slot make it official that the GOPe (which, yes, I too hate) is now Pro-Disney?
As much as I detest the GOPe, it seems a huge stretch to read Haley's actions here as being anything other than self-serving. Posted by: Bach in Black at April 26, 2023 07:00 PM (7ubmG) 394

Where is your proof "this is coming out of Trump central"

"We may differ in our reasoning as mine is that a great percentage of Trump supporters will stay home if he's not the nominee thus no chance for DeSantis."
Not just DeSantis. We will walk away from politics in general, a waste of time. You'll never see another Republican elected President in your lifetime. Let it all burn Posted by: Fenrisulven at April 26, 2023 08:27 PM (+LcMo) 397
Walk away then. You go follow your weird cult of personality.
There's no point in you pretending you're a conservative if you're willing to abandon social-conservatism to vote for a candidate who is not only not on your side but refuses to even make the right noises because he's too busy pissing into the tent at anyone not massaging his ego or pretending that the most important issue in America today is helping him settle his personal vendetta. That's the other side of the coin to the Bulwarks bullshit. Posted by: stv at April 27, 2023 01:20 AM (/dqoc) 398
