Woke Corporations Are #Cancelling Mothers Day, Becaue Motherhood Is Too Controversial Now

The same corporations that fill your in-box with hundreds of solicitations per year are now offering you the chance to opt-out of Mother's Day promotions, because Mother's Day may be triggering to some.

Did you know that Mother's Day is controversial?
I didn't. Pretty sure nobody did. After all, everybody has a mother.
Corporate America, though, has for some reason decided that Mother's Day is a "sensitive" time, a "challenging" time, or a "difficult" time, so they are inviting customers to opt out of emails related to the triggering day.
No, I am not kidding.

So what's the problem with Mother's Day? Is it too gendered? Or have so many Millennials and Gen Zers disowned their family (probably due to Pronoun Disputes) nd Trump Thanksgiving Debate that the idea of honoring one's mother is now toxic?

It can't be "some people's mothers are dead." That's been true forever, and I've never seen corporations scale back advertising on the theory that it might upset someone grieving a mother to offer a gift for mom.

And yes, it is because so many "young people" (who are now entering middle age, ha-ha) have disowned their families that the holiday is triggering for the easily-triggered neurotics and lunatics, who are now 20% of our population.

Because of pronouns.

David Strom helpfully bolded the pronouns in this Washington Post article.

A deluge of Mother's Day marketing emails flooded Michelle Levinson's inbox year after year -- sometimes 15 in a day, each reminding them of their estrangement from their mother.

Michelle Levinson is a "they"? Gee, I'm so surprised to hear They experienced strife and friction with They's family!

Then last month, Levinson received a different kind of email: "We understand Mother's Day can be a really difficult time for some of our #PashFam," read the message from Passion Planner, a planner and journal company. "If you'd rather not receive emails from us about Mother's Day this year, feel free to opt-out."
The choice felt like a breath of fresh air for Levinson, who lives in Cleveland. They gladly clicked the button to unsubscribe, thankful for the option to get fewer unpleasant reminders of the holiday.

Let's just completely change everything for the sake of the malingeringly mentally-ill who make up 0.1% of our population.

I was so happy when I saw this. I have been having a lot of trouble conceiving. I did everything right - I went to college, had some fun, got a job, and waited until I had established stability in my career and brought home a solid income before I got married, and we waited until we could afford a big house and a large Japanese SUV before working on starting the family. I'm only 39, but it's been a tough road. Mother's day is a sad time for me, and I am glad that I can opt out of the constant and unnecessary reminders of how hard it is to have a child.

I doubt. There's probably a woke angle - "Mother is an inherently gendered term that ignores that trans men can have babies, too" - but I doubt that's the big one.

My eldest daughter will never have children of her own, but she has always been motherly to her friend's kids, and the kids she comes across on a daily basis at her job (stylist).

As far as Mothers' Day goes, it's a mixed bag for me, always has been, due to relationship I have with my mom, which has been estranged at times, to put it mildly. Only the good Lord has been able to bring us somewhat closer in the past year.

With my younger daughter, it is also a mixed bag, since she and I don't see eye to eye on a lot of things, but the love will never go away with either of my children, nor my love for my mom.

This erasing of women and motherhood is demonic, plain and simple.

She was born in western Canada, moved to FL at age 12, didn't want to study nursing (biology was what she loved) but had to as there was no money for college, got married and had her first kid (me) late but kept on working, went back to her maiden name as her professional moniker after her divorce (possibly even *while* she was married) . . . all sorts of things that nobody would raise an eyebrow at today.

But she raised her kids well. We turned out to be originals too.

411 So in our little city of MOONBAT CENTRAL COAST, during the government diktats for restaurants the city closed the main downtown street. They let restaurants build shitty little plywood area in the street where you could eat... they also shutdown the main street to traffic for 10 blocks.

This was something proggies have had wet dreams about for 40 years. So result is all (80%+) the stores have gone out of business. Restaurants have fare less business, the homeless have taken over, electric bikers are hitting people, the smell of rat and homeless pee is disgusting and we have a very noticeable rat problem.

Bug the city refuses to open this main artery up again. Their reasoning is how do we know it will be better with traffic? Well it's fucking science. We had a thriving downtown business zone without the aforementioned problems and now we have dying downtown businesses and the aforementioned problems.

We did a very stupid proggy experiment, it failed. That's how we know dumbasses.

422 I've wished others - the grannies, aunts, friends, foster and adoptive parents who've raised other people's children in the spirit of kindness; the selfless women including my own sister who've given their child or children for adoption wishing a better life for them; those who may not have had a child but sponsored education, community programs, church camps, taught, etc., and more - a Happy Mother's Day.

And I've also wished selfless men and others who've supported their own children and the children of others a Happy Father's Day. I've never had anyone respond that it shouldn't be said or done & many were tearful with thanks.

Tradition needs to be upheld & some of the more sensitive persons need to toughen up. Many a child has taken someone other than his or her birth parent to a school or scout luncheon or dinner, etc. to honor them (See Catholic schools) Many an adult (or almost) child has stood on a football field or in a graduation ceremony and handed a rose to and thanked those persons who've loved them.

Unfortunately, I'm not a mother. Sometimes the sadness of it hit me like a brick. But I can't fathom curtailing Mother's Day, Father's Day, or Family Day (a big thing in Spanish-speaking schools). Those are the cornerstones of life, right there.
